tons of misconceptions and

world still believe but I say it's time
to bust the myths and get to know the
real Africa now counting down from myth
number 8 it's always sweltering hot it's
true that the Sahara Desert is located
in Africa and takes up about 1/3 of the
whole continent it's probably why people
tend to think that this land is all sand
and nothing else well maybe a few trees
here and there if you're lucky enough to
find an oasis but you have to remember
that Africa is an entire continent and a
big one at that
so like any huge mass of land the
landscapes there are really diverse here
you can admire the beauty of savannas
explore the lush nature of rainforests
and see breathtaking views from

visit this place although there are some

speaks Africa though despite what most
people think
no there isn't some Universal African
language spoken on the entire continent
I mean the population of Africa is more
than 1 billion people so it's pretty
hard to imagine all of them using the
same language right there are up to

imagine being attacked by a dangerous
carnivore right after stepping outside

fears to rest no this just won't happen

no electricity or modern machines for
more fascinating facts of architecture

that's been abandoned since the 1940s ah
the list of fascinating historical

but for now we'll move on to myth number
3 everyone is poor there's no denying
the fact that this continent has major
problems when it comes to quality of
life but the reality is that not all
countries in Africa are poor so this
statement is a huge generalization for
example Nigeria Egypt and South Africa
have stable growing economies and are
strong players in the global financial
market they have abundant natural
resources like oil diamonds and minerals
which have brought a lot of wealth and
success to their countries the more
financially stable countries do have a
middle class and people there can get a
good education and build a lucrative
career the fashion and media industries
are also on the rise in prosperous
African nations there's even something
like Hollywood in Nigeria called
Nollywood they produce about a thousand
movies a year and this brings me to my
next point
myth number two Africa is backward some
still think for instance that kids there
still play only with traditional wooden
African dolls and have no idea who
barbie is but the truth is that in most
countries kids teens and young people
live the same life as their peers
elsewhere they use Facebook and
Instagram and they play video games just
like the rest of the world that
obviously means that they have
smartphones and other digital devices
know what the Internet is and how to use
it and they're quite familiar with
Western pop culture even couch surfing
is a big thing in Africa not to mention
a lot of African countries invest in
developing advanced technologies for
instance humankind robots that can
control traffic were invented in the
Democratic Republic of the Congo and
engineers in Nigeria created drones that
can fly non-stop for about four hours so
how's that for myth-busting myth number
one there's no art scene in Africa if
you're guilty of believing this myth
then you've probably never been to Cape
Town this vibrant city has a thriving
art scene that rivals Berlin on top of
that there are countless annual music
and art festivals held across the
continent one of the most well-known
among them is Africa Bern
it's Africa's answer to the u.s. is
iconic gathering Burning Man and it
takes place every year in the kanka
carew National Park in South Africa
Africa Bern is all about good vibes
acceptance friendship and
self-expression through art and music
there's also Jazza Blanca in Morocco
where you can enjoy smooth elegant jazz
