about 30 minutes ago I had a Skype call
with one of the potential clients that I
can get and I found that there was one
thing that I did to completely lose the
sale and loosed in those negotiation so
I want to quickly just take a summary of
what I did wrong and what you can learn
from it so I was on this call with one
of my potential customers and I'm going
to do his social media management and I
have been talking to this guy for over
like over a month now and we've been
emailing back and forth and and I've
been laying out some potential things
that he can do to his channel and that I
can help him and so forth but we had a
Skype call about 30 minutes ago and I
lost that negotiation when we started to
talk about price setting a price point
and this is what made me lose this
negotiation so we were coming up I was
talking about every single thing that I
would do to his channel that he can send
the videos to me I can video edit them
and stuff like that but when we started
talking about price he said you can get
this amount and for me it was stupid low
it was really stupidly low it was a
really lowball offer and I was getting
pissed so I started to race my voice and
this is something you cannot do never
ever raise your voice and explain to him
why he should pay you more you have to
be in the situation where you can say oh
that's too low for me I just pause and
let him sell to you let him explain why
that price is fair why this is the price
that he can pay you because the first
thing I was instinctively doing was like
I know my worth I know how much this
method can get him and I was like
completely oh no you got to pay me a lot
more because of this because of this
because of this it doesn't even matter
how huge of an argument you have when
you're negotiating
whenever you're lowering your voice and
talking fast now you're the one selling
to him
he has to sell to you so if we take this
over again what I would do differently
is that when he said I will give you
this amount a month I would say I'm
sorry I cannot do that that's just way
too low for me and then I would wait for
him to explain himself and sell to me so
we can quickly change that around to
making him sell to you by not being
afraid to back out don't be afraid to
back out even if it's your only client
you have to be willing to leave and you
have to convey that you have other
options this comes back to like pick up
as well when you're dating a chick and
she knows that you can get a lot of
other chicks as well and that makes you
more attractive if you're talking to a
girl and you're like oh my god I really
love you and you're the only person for
me and I can't find anyone else you're
getting off a super needy and that's
what I did in my Skype call I just
wanted to say that to you so you don't
do the same mistake if you're ever in
the situation where you have to sell
over Skype where you know your value is
way more than what he's asking just sit
back say no I can't do that that's just
my thoughts
we ended up agreeing on something that I
think is very low but has the potential
to grow exponentially over the next
years so I'm not really worried about
that I'm really excited about this
partnership and I hope it goes well I
just want to say that this is something
you can do to get even more money in the
beginning and that's what I have to say
