who haven't heard of you even though
it's probably not that many of us how
did you get started in entrepreneurship
how did you end up you know living in
Bali kind of living the dream that so
many people probably have with online
income well you know the thing about
entrepreneurship right is everyone like
focuses about the house like oh how can
I get a hundred dollars a day how can I
get a thousand dollars a day right but I
think that how does it really matter
until you actually know why you want
that one hundred dollars a day because
say when you hit that goal you know
you're not gonna feel like that
happiness you feel empty right and you
know my reasons you know initially like
yeah like the traveling is cool like the
making money is cool but there was a
time when I was like watching my mom
working 16 hours a day you know I was
watching my dad working two jobs and I
remember like I was like in school to be
a dentist I was like fixed teeth bro
like literally like fixed e-letter latex
and teeth fixing teeth man to like make
a living and I thought that was gonna be
my path pull like the thing that just
blew my mind why I needed to like pivot
or something was I remember every six
months I would like go to college I
would come back
come back and it was like the scariest
thing cuz I literally saw my parents
kind of like a flip book animation thing
I literally like saw them get older it
was like freaking insane man and just
like the stress of them seeing that and
I looked into I was like man you know if
I keep on going with this dentistry in
ecology and we'll look at college in
like terms of an investment right right
it was like forty fifty sixty thousand
dollars a year you know I'd have to take
out a lot of student loan debt
my sister was gonna go to the same
college they would also have to pay for
that right and actually create a dental
practice you need to go to the bank and
like borrow 200 300 quarter-million half
million I wouldn't have broken even this
is like well beause my mind like the
people that learn for most yeah but like
oh I didn't break even with like my five
dollar ad like and almost immediately or
whatever oh my dude had I been a dentist
I would've broken even for like until I
was like 50 years old so what do you
tell people it is college worth it okay
well this is the thing right no
political answer just is cost worth it
yes or no and then you can get and then
you can explain okay so that's nice yes
yes what but well it's yes because for
example if you have an ad agency you
need some you need a dentist to like
hire you know for like services right
knee to other people to have we also
need someone to like serve you the
Chipotle not like if college was in
there like we wouldn't have like all
jokes aside college is good but you know
like what Einstein says if you judge a
fish by its ability to climb a tree it
will go on its entire life thinking it's
stupid and college is awesome if you
want to be a doctor if you want to be a
dentist if you want to be a lawyer if
that's like your drive right right but
like as entrepreneurs you know like how
smart you are depending on how good you
memorize like some topic that you're not
passionate like it's not it's not for me
it's not for us
so college is good if it is if it
resonates with your mission in your path
and like you know and the funny thing is
to like do you know who Yvonne musk is
yeah you know who Steve Jobs is yeah
name one dentist dude mr. or dr. uh
vigor and it's because it's a dentist
yes
exactly and I mean if people want to
make a mark and reach you know hundreds
of thousands thousands even to people
right and multiple people it's very
difficult to do that with kind of like
the college path jobs unless you like
you know work your way up to be a CEO
but still then like you aren't really
reaching people directly your advert you
know you're effecting shareholders and
things like you have but as an
entrepreneur you can literally have like
effect directly on another human beings
life like I you know so many of my
students now I'm sure you feel the same
way have have been able to quit their
jobs or change their life like I had a
pair of my students a married couple
that they've been to both of my live
events they recently sold their house
they both had jobs in an insurance
company they sold their house and
they're traveling the USA in a Motorhome
they bought from Amazon FBA nice and
they're starting a YouTube channel like
how I could never do that if I was a
dentist and that's not to say dentists
are bad people and you shouldn't you
know no one should want to be a dentist
but just like certain people and the
people watching this channel and video
probably have aspirations to you know
affect and change things a little bit
more so so tell us like how did you like
how did you get here as entrepreneur
what did you start to do when did you
start to see success tell us about a few
of your failures okay so you know I was
like 18 years old and then I had like
this room I was like oh man like this is
my why I want to like help my parents
won't like retire them and why not yeah
so like my first thing in
entrepreneurship was I was like
recruited for an MLM company oh man or
what it was like fucking bad kids like
you know they really just go in on like
your deep wants and desires and like
this is the answer and I thought that
like that was like the only option right
right and even though I wouldn't
recommend it like at all to anyone one
of the things that it did was it
introduced me to personal development
you know I met like I like heard about
Jim Rohn I heard about like Gary
Vaynerchuk I heard about like Grant
Cardone like years ago when I was like
18 or 19 years old and they're like
positively brainwash me right right like
even though my I didn't get results man
I remember I was like I had like the
sleep speaker and I had like this mp3
man and I was like like listening to a
freaking what was they like Eric Thomas
yeah you want to succeed as bad as
Breathe Right I was like and listening
to him right and like my subconscious
mind was learning her some shit yeah and
that it was that initial like
brainwashing rewiring my brain that
helped me because you know like for all
these things that all these like new hot
thing online or it's either shop line or
like your own social media marketing
agency or anything like that like that's
just the vehicle but like you know
you're you're freaking hungry man and
it's crazy seeing you like go in and
just like go crazy and drive like that
there's just like so much people though
that don't have like the mindset to do
you know you knew what your worth was
yeah like me person I didn't even know
what my worth was cuz you know when I
was like a little kid my mom was like
your biggest goal son is you got to get
a job and you're gonna get six figures
and your mom and dad will be so damn
happy and I'm like that's all I want my
daddy happy thank you mommy
ya know for sure so so then why did you
start to see success then cuz I mean it
sounds like you've kind of dabbled in a
few things what what was kind of a
turning point where you where you
realized okay maybe I should do this and
not become a dentist yeah okay so I
remember it because it was like my pre
shopify days and my first success was I
was like I tried recruiting all my
friends they said no I was like screw it
man I'm just going to go Facebook right
and I didn't even know about face you
guys so it's like targeting where is my
ideal demographic chillin app I'll say
Robert Kiyosaki
pages like freakin Tony Robbins pages
I'm like seeing who likes all their
posts I'm like adding one of these
people like and messaging them out a lot
of them thought like I was just some
weird dude like make a friend or
whatever my man I saw you on a
turnaround the face and I totally
understand what you're talking about we
should like connect or mess my what I
did and I tried pinching on my product
but instead he was like oh no I'm doing
this drop shipping on ebay I'm like what
the hell is drop shipping and I think I
was like 18 or 19 years old and then it
just opened up this world of like the
initial drop shipping was when you would
take something from Amazon and then you
like flip it on eBay right
and back then it was like really
profitable like each one of these like
widgets you can get like 5 or $10 profit
right because it was just like because
so few people were doing it back then
and then like I scaled that like more
and more people getting into it because
the barrier of entry is so low right
that's why I like like projects you have
to invest in because you know it cuts
all like the tired characters out that
aren't willing to put in their own money
and put in real words yeah and put in
real work and I mean it was a point in
my in my career where I was getting like
$300 or 300 sales a day from eBay to
Amazon but like the profit margin was a
quarter it was like 25 cents and like
they would also have a trick shame like
in Shopify right but it was like
aggressive man like it'd be late at
night and it would just be like - like
fuck wake up and like I'm happy about it
yeah so I mean I think an important
thing that I deserved from that and
something that's worth like noting is
you know a lot of people would say okay
well Mike was you know browsing those
pages he was mentioning those people and
somebody happened to bring up drop
shipping which is when he had success
right so that's luck right but I think
it's a very important distinction that
that luck doesn't really exist in like
the the meaning that I think a lot of
people kind of associate with it Mike
was hustling and he was in the right
place trying to make it work right so it
wasn't really luck it was that he was
doing it right he was actively trying as
hard as he could he was talking to
people he was communicating with other
business people who were doing it and
then things fell into place and a lot of
people might be like oh well I was just
lucky right they're like oh Mark
Zuckerberg was just lucky when he made
Facebook right but I mean it's a very
different thing kind of having an idea
and actually you know executing that
idea and like you were introduced to it
and a lot of people might like discount
it like it was luck but I think it's
because you were just in the right place
you were hustling and you're trying to
make it and then you just happen to you
know take advantage and actually execute
on an idea issue but you really had so
let's talk about something that's a
little bit more applicable to all of our
viewers right so if if someone's
watching right now and they've never
tried Amazon they've never tried Shopify
they never tried affiliate marketing
they've never tried Facebook Ads
any of that right what would you say to
somebody right now today in 2018 in June
right what is the best way for someone
just starting out with very little to no
money to actually like start something
that's really going to show results and
it doesn't have to be like tomorrow but
what's the best thing someone can focus
their time on out of every
right now okay so I would say three
things right number one you want to see
