what's up guys big mark here what's
going on welcome back to my channel
alright so on this video I'm gonna do
something a little bit different all
right I'm going to tell you a little bit
about my story and my past and where
I've came from and you know I've had my
I've never really talked about any of
this and I think I've been putting it
off for a while but so yeah this is a
little bit uncomfortable for me actually
compared to my regular videos that I do
also I've only had about five hours of
sleep last night usually I like to get a
little bit more sleep so I'm a little
kind of out of it I probably need some
coffee right now but I'm just gonna go
ahead and do this video because you know
I've put this off long enough so anyway
so going back I tried the job thing I've
had many many jobs growing up and my
teen years and in my 20s as a matter of
fact I was employed at over 30 different
places I remember the last time I
counted it was like 32 different jobs
that I've had everything from I don't
know flipping burgers working in
warehouses I tried everything I was a I
was an insurance appraiser for a little
while and I did construction I did just
hard labor jobs
nothing like a desk job nothing like
that because I just I didn't have any
credentials I just didn't have any
skills for that sort of thing and you
know I would either get let go
laid off fired a couple times I walked
off the job
I went to college for sound engineering
I was I was still in I was I was into
music I'm still into sound and music and
stuff and you know I dropped out and it
just wasn't for me
it was too difficult I couldn't do the
tests and so I dropped out of college
and not not too much longer after that I
got a job at McDonald's started working
there I lived in a little trailer it was
a little tiny trailer outside of my mom
and dad's house just so I could come and
go whenever I wanted I had this Ford
Escort that it just oh man this thing
was like running off of like three
cylinders and it would it would it would
stall at stoplights and every day I went
to work whatever job that I was doing at
the time you know I was all I would
always worried like the car wouldn't
make it to work and it was just so bad
and I remember like the tires I didn't
have enough money to put tires or put
new tires on and I thought I was gonna
get a blowout I didn't I couldn't afford
to fix it and it you know I had good gas
mileage but you know moving ahead I I
had I had a hard time finding a place to
live I slept on my sister's living room
floor all I had was a toolbox and some
clothes I slept in my friend's closet
for a little while I slept in my car
I slept in the Ford Escort I could never
get anything stable I didn't want to
rely on my parents and my dad said that
if you don't get a job or you know I'm
gonna kick you out of the house so
that's what he did
he kicked me out
and for him it was like go to school get
a job right so I you know that's I tried
to do what he said and what everybody
else was doing you know they worked jobs
and this whole thing about
entrepreneurial I didn't even know what
entrepreneur room entrepreneurial I
can't even talk today I don't even know
what that word meant okay I have no idea
what that were I didn't even hear that
word until later on like ten years later
I didn't know you could just do your own
thing work for yourself anyway moving
forward
there was one skill I had and that was
graphics I could do some graphic design
on the computer so I moved in with this
girlfriend at the time she had this old
packard-bell computer and I started
using like a bootleg version of
Photoshop I think at that time it was
like photoshop 4.0 or something like
that
and so I started using learning
Photoshop and I I got I guess I got
pretty good at it I wasn't you know I
was okay I think I had a pretty good eye
for things and I met this guy online and
it was like in a private chat room you
know they didn't have like Skype or
anything like that back then
they didn't I mean it was like this
underground chat room you would go to
and you would share your ideas and I
posted some of my work and some guy
hired me he said I'll send you a whole
bunch of work and I started making
banner advertisements I started making
web designs and stuff like that like I
would make it in Photoshop and then I
would slice it up into HTML and do all
that
and so I did that for like a couple
years and that was the first time I I
kind of got like a feeling or a taste
for that that whole thing about kind of
like being your own boss and working at
home and not having to go to work and
that was like a revelation for me okay I
mean there were times when I made like a
thousand dollars in a week just doing
graphic design and that was like wow
that was huge I thought I would never
need any more money ever and you know
and I was living in this I moved into
this 2-bedroom duplex but as time went
on I I did more graphics and I created a
website and I created tutorials I
created courses on how to do graphics
and so I did this for like three four or
five years and then I created this big
course that I launched and I spent about
two years on it and I made about six
figures in a week launching that course
and this was after I learned about
marketing and stuff like that and that
was my biggest I would say that's
probably the my biggest success that
I've had up until you know just
struggling for so long only making
enough money to pay the bills and that
was it I really didn't have much else
left until I launched these courses and
then I launched that big course and if
some of you follow me you know which
course that is it's pretty popular out
there but people still Facebook me all
the time hey are you the mark that yes I
get it all the time but that was all
great and everything I bought my dream
car and this is towards 2008 I bought my
dream home this was like those about
half a million bucks and I put a lot of
money down on it
and had my dream car I yeah so life was
good man life was really really good and
so it come 2008 the market crashed and I
everything just like came to a halt
sales stopped all my income streams just
came to a halt we we couldn't pay the
mortgage it was a huge struggle and I
had to start selling stuff we had the
whole house full of furniture at that
time I met my wife around that time my
girlfriend at the time but now she's my
wife and we had to start selling stuff
off I sold off all the things I had
synthesizers I had studio stuff I had
equipment sold it all and that was the
hardest thing because a lot of those
things you couldn't replace you couldn't
go and just buy a new one because they
were vintage some of them were vintage
type items and then I had to sell my
dream car right that was that was the
hardest part because I wanted that car
so bad and we had to start selling
things so we could get by so we could
move we had to move the house went into
foreclosure and I remember some guy some
doctor in Colorado bought my car over
the Internet and I remember you know
pulling the car up I remember watching
the guy he this guy came and this big
rig with this cargo trailer thing a full
of cars and I remember just watching him
drive the car up into the ramp inside
the
cargo trailer or whatever you want to
call it and I had it all cleaned up and
everything and then he closed the door
and as the door was closing you're like
really slowly just watching the car like
it got narrower and narrower the gap
between you know the trailer and the
door and then that was it that was last
time I saw that car and I had I had a
little bit of a sentimental thing with
that car okay if you guys really want to
know what the car is you can ask me
later but and I don't want to get into
all that and that was it man I just I
just hit rock bottom I went into a
depression house was in foreclosure I
couldn't even enjoy the ride or the
drive up to the house you know there'd
be like these little you know these like
forms and different papers that were
stuck to the door of the house you know
when you pull up and you know Here I am
pulling off three-car garage big house
five bedroom four thousand square feet
just everything man and man I just I
just can't I just went to a depression I
shaved my head I was like 80 pounds
overweight and I was just done I was
just I don't know what to do I don't
know what in my direction I know a lot
of people struggle during that time too
a lot of people have the same
experiences and well we pretty much got
rid of everything up we pretty much lost
everything and whatever we had we moved
to Oregon and I was in the house that I
had we were in Las Vegas at the time and
so so here I am after a while it's like
we couldn't get a place to live I turned
40 years old and you know I'm moving
back into my parents house
at 40 years old
with my wife and
little dog and eventually I mean it was
tough man eventually we got our own
place and after a while we had a little
baby girl we got a we got a rental and I
I realized I had to do something right I
had to change my circumstance because
especially after my daughter was born
and some of you might know I do have a
son as well because I was divorced and
he was about four years old
and he lives in another state so he
wasn't really he was visiting but he
wasn't with us the whole entire time so
he didn't know he's too young to know
what was going on I had to do something
I had to do something to survive I mean
I borrowed money from my mom and dad so
we could put a deposit down on a place
to live for a rental that year we didn't
even have any Christmas I didn't have
enough money to to put Christmas
presents underneath the tree there was
nothing my luckily my my mom's mom or my
wife's mom was visiting and she bought
presents for our daughter and everything
so that was awesome and I just pulled my
wife aside and I said honey I don't want
to ever ever ever go through this again
I said this is it I'm done I just
snapped I was just I was done with my
pity party and I started to focus on
gratitude I started become grateful for
things I started affirmations
incantations I started writing down what
I was grateful for
I wrote down like a hundred things and I
read those every single day
and all I knew was I don't know what
direction I was gonna go in but I had to
do something right so I got off my butt
I got out of my pity party I stopped
moaning and groaning and complaining and
I came out with this new version of one
of these products that I have and so it
took me like a year to develop that
product so about twelve months later
from that point from I I released this
product and I went on to generate like
six figures the first week it was
released so that really helped us
survive that really got us on our feet
so we could survive and then I thought
okay well I want to take things to the
next level I want to I want to just stop
getting by to just pay the bills and I
want to do something more you know my
graphics business was great and all but
but I hit a ceiling you know I saturated
my market and I couldn't scale it okay
and so if you're in a marketing business
something you might know what I mean you
just can't scale things and so I wanted
to get into a market or a niche that I
could scale as high as I wanted to where
I could have no limit because we were
just paying the bills that was it hardly
have any money for anything else you
know you have other things you have
other bills you have you know car
payments child support you have rent you
have insurance you have taxes everything
adds up you know at the end of the day
there's really not much left okay and so
I was just sick of living like that I
wanted to have some kind of income or
career or whatever so I could just scale
things and so that's why I do what I do
now and because I've been doing business
online for so long I wanted to come
online and help other people create an
online business so they can have more
freedom to do what they want and that's
why I do it that's part of what this
YouTube channel is all about and we talk
about you know things about how to make
you know a couple dollars a day all the
way up to a thousand dollars a day
whatever it just depends I have a lot of
people from all walks of life that watch
this channel but that's kind of like
what what got me to this place you know
it doesn't matter where you are if
you're going through a hard time a lot
of us go through struggles and different
things and you can change it you can
change your circumstances you can and
maybe it may not be time you know my
back was against the wall it was against
the wall I had to do something I had to
do something or we were we weren't just
gonna make it I didn't want to have to
live with my mom and dad you know I mean
I was embarrassing it was not good for
me I felt and that wasn't even the most
positive environment for me that was a
very negative
okay and so I'm trying to develop this
positive and you know this is this
mindset for success and moving forward
and I didn't have that support around me
my wife supported me but you know other
people and family and stuff they just
had a totally different mindset and they
were still a victim of their
circumstances and and it was a lot of
complaining and stuff so it just so that
was hard to get through I had to I had
to get through that but anyway that's my
story kind of like in a nutshell this is
the first time I've ever talked about it
so I'm just being very vulnerable with
you guys I'm not really good at this
sort of thing I know I kind a little a
little bit all over the place here but
you know I it's all about mindset and I
talk about mindset all the time a lot of
people tell me on YouTube they say well
mark I don't want to hear about mindset
just just show me how to make the money
but the thing is I would have never been
able to make the money unless I had a
good mindset unless I did more gratitude
if unless I was grateful unless I had
goals and unless I if I was always so
worried about what other people would
think about me if I was concerned and
worried about being judged all the time
and all that stuff I would have never
made it I would have never made it I
would have still been in the same place
where I always was and and I had to
realize that you know there's a lot of
people they are in pain they express
their pain and they'll say things to you
they're gonna pull you down whatever you
know just because their life is
miserable has nothing to do with me has
nothing to do with you
and
kind of like a lightbulb moment kind of
switched from me and I'm realizing I had
to I mean I Dyson to a lot of audio CDs
I read books I listen to interviews all
the big guys out there you know the ones
that you probably have heard of I listen
to all those guys and everything they
say is true if you don't have the right
if it's if if your world appears not
right your external world is not going
to you know it has to reflect it's going
to reflect how you think and how your
thoughts are up here but unfortunately
there's a lot of people that don't they
don't want to hear that maybe they're
not ready for it they don't believe it
they just I don't care about that just
give me the money now and that's cool
you know because you know what that's
how I was - I was like I was the same
way anyway that's it for this video I
think I went on a little bit long here I
don't know how long the battery's gonna
go on this on this camera but so there
you go guys that's my story and and I
don't really know how to in this video
to be honest with you but I'm gonna go
pick up my my wife and my daughter
they're out shopping today probably
catching some of those last-minute cyber
sales that are out there
