what's up YouTube this is Ryan Hildreth
and today we're gonna talk about when to
sell stocks this is a really tough
common question that's why and it's hard
to let go of something that you've been
holding on to for so long this applies
to anything in life not only stocks but
we want to talk about when to sell
stocks because it is important part of
your strategy you have to recognize what
your strategy was going into that stock
was it a short term trading strategy or
was it a long term investment that's the
first question you could ask yourself
the second question is is it meeting my
strategy goals so when I go into a long
term investment I look at PE ratio want
the p/e ratio to be low
I want the dividend and revenue growth
to be high and the dividend yield to be
high so if any one of those three
changes then I'm going to be looking to
sell that stock meaning if I bought a
company with a low p/e ratio let's say I
bought Disney at a p/e ratio 15 and
within the next year or two the p/e
ratio is 25 meaning that the price is
either way too high or they're not
earned and their earnings aren't good
enough then I'm going to be looking to
exit that stock because their valuations
don't meet my requirements anymore so
therefore I'll let go of it you can also
use a 52-week high to exit stocks I mean
you don't want to exit when the stock is
down because you'll be losing on your
position you want to exit when the stock
is up and maybe overvalued so you can
exit that position with
win with an optimal return so I like to
use p/e ratio and make sure that the p/e
ratio meets my requirements I'll look at
the 52 week I'll see where the price is
relative to the 52 week high so that I'm
getting out at an optimal point because
I want to let go of this stock it
doesn't mean requirements anymore you
can also look at when you're getting
ready to sell a stock meaning it doesn't
meet your requirements your strategy you
can put in a MACD oscillator it's a
momentum oscillator to look at where the
momentum and the stock is going if it's
if it's still on the rise you want to
get out right you want to get out
because it doesn't meet your strategy
anymore and you'd like to still make a
return on the stock instead of waiting
and saying you know what I'm gonna hold
on to it I think that it's gonna come
back because chances are when you tell
yourself that it's never gonna come back
so you want to get out at an optimal
time but you know when selling stocks
you have to define your strategy
remember why you got into the stock or
to the investment this applies to real
estate too this applies to any type of
investment remember your strategy why
you got in and then if it doesn't meet
those requirements get out as soon as
possible so that's all I have to say for
selling stocks and when to sell or want
to sell any investment but if you have
any more questions make sure to email me
at Rhine hildreth 2rh at gmail.com I'll
get back to you good luck
