in this video I'm going to show you how
you can add some social sharing buttons
to your WordPress website we're gonna be
using a really easy-to-use free plugin
to do this pretty flexible plugin we
which buttons you'd like to show on the
posts where they show so they could be
at the top or the bottom or even have
the floating down the side it should
only take us a few minutes to set up the
plug-in and the theory behind it is is
if you add social sharing buttons to
your website then people will share your
stuff which of course is a good thing
anyway let's go
okay so I'm over a bow while tech-talk o
DK which is one of my Amazon affiliate
websites if you'd like to have a site
like this for yourself then you'll find
a link in the description to the full
ever tutorial where I take you for
building one of these from scratch but
anyway we're going to be adding social
media icons today and it doesn't really
matter what theme you're running it
should work with any theme now the theme
I'm running here which is Kingdom theme
does actually have some social media
icons they're here they're tucked away
at the bottom but I think it's gonna
hurt to add a few more maybe a top here
and definitely down the side you know
floating so they follow us as we scroll
down so I already logged into the site
so I'm going to go into - for now and
I'm gonna install the plane then I'm
gonna go to plugins and add new then in
this keyword box at the top right I'm
going to type in add to any which is the
name of the plane it's the first one
that comes up this one with the Big Blue
Cross or white cross I should say on a
blue background click install now okay
that's install let's click activate
there we go
that's all installed another rank so if
we come down in to settings now we've
got this new section called add to any
so here we go we've got a few options
around our social sharing buttons and
select the size 32 pixels is probably
okay you could obviously increase that
if you like and play around with the
background if I'm a transparent
background really up to you here we can
add the services and we can even reorder
them as well so one still use Google+
I'm not sure when I add some extra ones
they're all here so maybe Pinterest as
well that's always a good one
it allows to choose from isn't there
a deduction on the universal button
like I mean I think that's fine so that
kind of allows people to share to other
platforms that maybe you haven't
selected up here
you know the header if you want so you
can add some words like share it or
please share or and whatever you like
and then here is the placement so we can
just play at the top or the bottom or
the top and bottom I'm gonna get the top
because I said this theme has already
got some social share buttons at the
bottom
I've got some other options here so you
can't display a top post on the front
page that's the home page don't think I
bother with that
I'll cut pages nope on the feed and no
play at the top of excerpts from no
thank you
it's about a couple pages and no that's
probably the top of media pages no right
type of products mm-hmm yeah why not a
few other things here menu options
you can just send it so that only shows
the universal share menu and the user
clicks the universal share button that's
fine I think at the moment is preset to
hover and you can add some mega
additional JavaScript origin anything
we'll be doing an additional CSS to and
there's some other Advanced Options that
we probably shouldn't mess with so let's
leave that as it is and click Save
Changes let's just pop open another
little tab and see what it looks like so
for some reason it's added them there
I'm sure I said lots of do two pages but
I know that's why that is because that's
to do with these floating settings which
we haven't got to yet and do them in a
second anyway ignore these ones we'll be
looking at them in a minute what we do
wanna look at is the ones on a product
so it's inserted two there which I think
it's fine
yeah-ha-ha the thing is a little bit
annoying actually
isn't it so maybe I will change that
option let's go back to standard a
second yeah that hovers a bit annoying
let's check out a blog post as well the
product is fine I like like it yeah
probably overkill that overkill that's a
lot of social sharing isn't it
I didn't realize that Kingdom also got
them on the product but maybe your Wii
Commerce theme doesn't so you're gonna
want to add them there so look on the
blog so you're going back into these
options just while that page is loading
yeah let's turn off products because
yeah we've already got the kingdom ones
and where's the option to do with this
yeah this take that I don't like that
hover from there we go so let's have a
look at this blog post here we go that's
fine isn't it
so these floating ones let's have a look
at those soda just seconds on them you
click on this floating tab obviously so
we got some options here we can adjust
the placement currently sits a left
docked which is fine attached to content
that means it's kind of gonna be down
here but it's not going to stop here
will be down here that makes sense you
can hide it on mobile screens which is
pretty good idea you can hide it until
the page is scrolled 100 pixels I'm off
from the top that's quite nice I guess
just the position which I think I mean
to do because that is way too high it
needs to be down area further so let's
increase this one we're gonna try 600
and just the icon size again we have
horizontal buttons if we like mmm I
don't like
and that's pretty much all the options
really on we on the floating ones let's
refresh and just see what they look like
in there too far down now and they
they're too far down so this
let's turn this down to 500
it doesn't appear to be a way to turn it
off on the on the home page which I
guess is fine
I was only surprised to see them because
I turned them off in the standard now
whether you want to use standard and
floating island is really going to be up
to you
I think personally the floating is
probably enough yeah that's about right
for me I like that position say I think
the floating enough so let me go back in
and just turn off the standard
so to do that I'll just basically I'm
taking everything pretty easy
so let's see if they actually work let's
say I wanted to to tweet this out now
and just click on the Twitter there we
go
and you just click tweet
