I'm gonna be adding some content to one
of my Amazon affiliate sites I'm gonna
be using the new Gutenberg editor which
brings about a kind of drag-and-drop
block based editing system but to make
it really easy to create some fantastic
posts now rumor has it that version 5 of
WordPress is going to be released today
although we'll wait and see there's no
guttenberg editor becomes the kind of
standard default editor that we're going
to be using to create pages and posts
you can of course jump the queue on that
and there is a preview version available
for you to download right now and test
it out and play around with it so anyway
I think that's enough looking at my face
let's get on the computer and let out
this content so I'm over at bow-wow Tech
Cody UK which is one of my Amazon
affiliate websites you've already seen
it before if you've watched any of my
other videos if you'd like a website
just like this I'll put a link up now to
a tutorial it's a full length tutorial
and in that video I show you how to make
this very site so today I'm going to be
adding some content as I've already said
a lot more content here it's an article
that I purchased from textin and if
you've heard of them their article
creation company they're pretty good
fantastic about put a link to them in
the description as well if you're
interested one thing I will say though
is make sure you're very clear on your
localization in terms of where your
website is based on where it's targeting
so bower Tech is a UK focus site and as
I was looking for this article making
some edits I've noticed it's a little
bit American a lot of these products are
sort of American
they are available on Amazon but UK but
they're a bit more expensive but there
you go lesson that I'm still going to
post to anyway they still quite a good
article so but of course what we want to
do today is test out the Gutenberg
editor so let's do that I'm already
logged in I'm gonna go into the
dashboard now version 5 isn't out just
yet but you can install Guttenberg to
have it play with it before then to do
that there's a big button here in the
dashboard so that's pretty
straightforward let's click install you
haven't got this message maybe you
closed it then just go into plugins add
new and type in Guttenberg I'm sure you
will find it
ice installed let's click activate I
mean the good thing is that you can keep
the classic editor as well which you
might want to do good Berg has been
getting a bit of a mixed reaction so mmm
I don't know let's see okay so it
activated and there's a bit of a tip
thing here you can look at these tips
very nice but we have any tips to work
it out as we go unless the usual WP
eagle way so it's create this random
post for me which I don't really want so
let's go to new and post great the post
that I do want to create and here we go
so as you can see it's a completely
different layout I'm really not sure how
this is going to play with the existing
page builders and stuff that we've got
you know elemental Divi cornerstone with
X theme visual composer hmm I mean this
does not look as powerful as any of
those things so you're probably going to
want to use a combination of the two
or maybe just not use this at all let's
see so anyway let's crack on I've got
the article here and I've already shown
you the first thing is the title there
we go what should I feed my dog just
going to copy out into the book pop back
in and paste it scan well so far that's
pretty straightforward
Yoast is not working that could because
I'm not dated our nice with a few
updates so that might be why but I'm
sure they'll get it fixed before the
general release you actually see that
down the right-hand side here they've
added all the options that we used to
play with so permalink is there I can't
change that too it's published I guess
and you got your stickiness if you want
to okay there's nothing and there I
guess that's global blocks maybe we'll
get to that in a bit
and you got your categories here
whatever reason aren't showing us not
I'll look that out just a bit slow take
how-to guides tags are their featured
images there so yeah exit is there all
the stuff that we used to discussion is
death but let's get playing with these
blocks so good and Berg is all about
blocks so in compasses plus and you've
got all these box that you can add if
you've used any of those visual editors
that I've just mentioned you'll be
familiar with this sort of thing where
you can just choose elements and drop
them on common blocks which looks pretty
much the same as the most use layout
elements I think I just missed one
formatting you can put code in or HTML
or a table I mean a table could be quite
useful especially for affiliate content
although I think there's pretty better
plugins and this one which is a very
very very basic HTML table table press
is a good plug-in for tables in my
opinion because they sort of bull and
all sorts stuff so I probably use that
but you know maybe this table might be
useful now and again put columns which
is quite a big deal I guess
though again you know you've got columns
and most themes nowadays spacer as a gap
is it
does that page break I don't know
whatever widget so you got short code
and comments and posts and stuff a whole
load of embeds now an issue torille I
don't want to go too deep because
there's tons of stuff there you know I
think British spread it across a few
videos if I'm honest I want to keep with
the basics I just want to add this this
affiliate article and just see how we
get on so it's gonna grab it now what
I'm gonna do is I'm just gonna grab it
all in one go because it's just
paragraphs and titles and I'm gonna see
if Guttenberg is gonna work it out for
me rather than we go through and add
each paragraph and each heading one by
one I want to see how clever this new
thing is there see I'm gonna paste
the first thing I've noticed is that is
Lukas messed up some of the text by
taking out spaces mm I don't know why
it's done that
let's put this in as just both text
which I guess is fine because it is
actually just bold text so it's got no
way of knowing that that's a heading but
we know we will go through maybe if I
made it a heading inward let's just try
that I may be a heading to do you think
that's the see I mean I've got to give
it a chance I - give convert your chance
sounds like I mean so we've done
something I'm done awesome we can do the
rest of it so I think this is an undo
button as well which is pretty cool
yeah that's new that's cool paste again
I don't know why is taking out these
spaces
that's grammarly by the way that's
popping up browser extension for crimp
pretty cool so there we go if you have
got your article nicely formatted in
Word
it will come over well but I don't know
why is what's wrong with this spacing so
your fury up the that you're viewing a
very even noise there's definitely a
space there and words so hmm that's a
little bug you have to go through and
just add these manually which is a bit
of a pain oh yeah I do it all in the
video that'll be boring
but yeah there's quite a few so no
that's nice I'll go through that at the
end of that need to bore you with that
headings come across so that's a heading
element it's a h2 I think we'll have
that as a H free though to be fair of
course to add any of these if you were
writing you would just you know select
heading or paragraph or whatever we're
gonna do some images in a second so I'll
show you that
and of course I'm going to be adding
some Amazon links and Amazon images will
do that note so the headings are good I
mean yeah I think cage-free is fine but
since I don't even matter does it your
own personal preference support across
the links look there we go
just be fair probably want that to open
in a new tab that one that's on I guess
yeah it's the most unclear switch toggle
I've ever seen there's another one I
want that in a new tab so yeah anything
pretty easy to use I'm I'm using it it's
fine it's it's working okay so I want to
turn this into a heading is that
possible
oh yeah there we go that's form two
heading wow that's pretty cool you can
use that to change the blocks useful
very useful yeah nope a new tab like
that heading to switch key thing pretty
cool
it's good it's good alone you know the
old editor was pretty good pretty
streamlined pretty easy to use I mean
this is a lot more visual I guess so
people coming into WordPress new I think
it may help them or it's gonna
completely confuse him or us who knows
who knows so what I'm gonna do now is
I'm gonna add some images let's add some
images yeah I think you know a nice
picture of a puppy there we like puppies
alone sir yes some other dog food
related images a Gila it's missed out
the space there
weird it's weird about I don't want
these bold either so you let me just
come find some images and then we'll
we'll add them and see how that works
so I've been over to iStockphoto looking
at pictures of puppies they're lovely
aren't they I do recommend iStockphoto
for photos funny enough that's pretty
much all it does really is photos well
maybe some illustrations as well but
generally photos I've got a subscription
with them and yeah I'm always using it
because you know when you're adding
content for your blogs and your
affiliate sites you need some good
images and there's some good images on
here with the subscription it's really
cool you get a certain number of images
and much depends on the subscription you
go for but those images rollover so if
you don't use them all in one month you
can use them in the next month so yeah
really love it it's great have to worry
about licensing or any of that stuff
just come here find an image whack it on
your books oh yeah found a few I've
saved into my computer resized them
whatever if I needed to and they're
ready to go so let's add them now oh
yeah one other thing that I did while I
was on I stock is I did a quick search
around regarding the space issue that we
just looked at we're pasting from word
and you would lose some spaces in your
text and it seems like it is an issue
with Guttenberg and I've been talking
about it just recently in fact and yet a
bug so I need to fix that before they do
a full release don't they hopefully they
will write images so here's the article
I'm also confident sort of that all the
headers I've done all the links I think
I've done them all I've missed a few
spaces still they look what a pain
until I fix that that makes you know
this edits are pretty much unusable but
hey there you go so puppy food let's add
the pictured puppy so you can add a
block up here with a + or again very
similar to previous four editors you can
just kind of press the plus where you
want the image so here's good I'm going
upload
find the image this puppy I look at him
there is no he's a bit big
can add a caption as well if you like
you do it big so we can make you smaller
and this is a nice feature about just by
dragging him about looking at now that's
cool I like that we can align the image
by using these buttons here just like
that and there's a few other options
here so you can duplicate it you can
attack before or after and you can edit
it as HTML if you want to get techie you
can also add it as a reusable block so
that means it would appear somewhere
else I guess that's right let's call it
puppy image guess it would appear
up here now when you want to add a block
as a reusable yeah there we go and you
just add a puppy wherever you like yeah
perfect anyway let's put it back as a as
a real regular column blog because it
went a bit weird when I made it into a
reason anyway so there we go on the
right easy to resize easy to add links
and yeah that's really cool
so down here I'm gonna add an image from
Amazon I'm going to use the site stripe
the Amazon site stripe to do that I'm
going to see how that works with the
guttenberg editor so let's say I click
on this link here I don't want to get
this picture of a bag of very expensive
dog food
I guess it's quite a big bag so as you
probably know if you want to get a link
from Amazon an affiliate link and you
want to be an image you come up here you
press image you go for large and you
just copy this code get back to your
website and you paste it in now I have
been playing around with this a little
bit before start recording and I think
the best way to add this site stripe
image code is to add a new block let's
add it here and you want to go for and
see if I can see it we're into common
blocks
nope he's hella formatting that you just
want some custom HTML because that's
what it is and then paste it in
like that if you preview
there's our image it looks like it's
completely messed up the editor now
know why that's done that weird so yeah
the image is working that's good and
then what I was doing we seem to work
quite well was going to more options and
then going to convert to blocks and then
what it does is it converts it to an
image block and then I can kind of like
right align it like that
then that's not too bad and you can kind
of do the same thing I was doing before
with the image you can make it pics more
whatever which is good because sometimes
the images from Amazon are a bit small I
don't be aware that if you make it too
big it would kind of go blurry for some
reason this added another image block I
don't know what that's about let's
remove that
and there we go I saw Amazon site stripe
image people should be able to click on
that and go straight through to Amazon
so you had another one maybe you know I
said this one it's blue illness let's do
it one more time just to be clear okay
I'm really because this is a search
results page that I don't get too bad
let's get this tint that looks nice
it's like wolf food or something is it
anyway okay large can copy the code into
here it's Adam yeah I'll finish with
that now add a block here it still needs
a little bit of kind of finessing this
editor it's a prevents a little bit
quirky it could just be me who knows
paste that in breaks through another
thing the preview there's our dog food
lovely convert to block converts it to
an image that can write a line get rid
of the extra one that it's crated for
whatever reason ah not that one undo
this one I wanna get rid of Tanna
I do like the undo that's probably the
best thing so far I found with this
there we go got a caption for it
so that's basically I'm going to go
through and add a few more site striped
links but let's have a look at what it
actually looks like in the front are you
in Turkish of course I am
you can add some tags push it out some
tags

like that button

oh we forgot to add a featured image
didn't we will do that in a sec
but anyway there we go that's the text I
mean it's looking fine it looks good
it's got my links got my puppy there's
the site stripe networking that's
working fine yeah I mean it's it's fine
it's good
although I think ice pretty still be
quicker with the classic editor maybe I
don't know it's gonna be really
interesting to see how well it's adapted
or adopted adapted adopted whatever they
see how many people start using it on
how many people installed the classic
editor plugin and just stick with that
anyway let's do the feature of it here
it is I'm forget all about it
I do have a featured image ready to go
dog food featured there we go
I've resized it made sure it's looking
good
it's a picture of a doggie in some food
I thought that would work well
there we go and of course I should add
an excerpt I often make the kind of
exert power off the second paragraph in
my articles now I saw an income school
that's a good thing to do so do check
out income school whether on YouTube got
some great tips on creating content
like on those over really knowing it

it's pretty bit long isn't it I'll be

we're gonna have to wait and see with
regards to Guttenberg and how well it's
gonna actually work and whether we're
actually going to use it or or just
stick with the old classic type editor
