really it's the Friday Q&A that's
happening on Thursday I'm Doug
Pennington here from niche site project
it looks like we have a handful of
people on already which is great I am
going to go through questions live if
you have any
give me a shout it sounds like people
can hear me which is a good sign and
honestly I'm not really sure if a lot of
people are gonna show up today
since it's on a different day I tried to
announce it I tried to let people know
in the community tab but we'll see if
there's not many people that's totally
cool I will look through some of the
Commons where people ask questions that
makes it a little bit easier as normal
I'll do a quick little announcement here
for some helpful links that are in the
description so first is the FAQ section
so sometimes we're gonna have some
questions here where people basically
ask all the time people ask the
questions they're frequently asked
questions right so people ask them all
the time
further I answer them in like a longer
form and it was edited and all that
stuff so sometimes I'll just say hey go
check out the link there and you could
you could look there additionally
there's a Productivity course that I
have so if you're interested in getting
more stuff done in less time and setting
take a look at that productivity course
and I give a couple case studies in
there as well there's some light
information on actionable project
management techniques as well there's a
guest posting surface service it's
typically closed I open it up for a few
days every now and then so if you are
interested in getting guest posts you

you're brand new to affiliate sites
check out the niche site project process
that I go into great detail on like the
overall process and then I dive into you
know each of the roughly seven phases
that you may
go through and it seems like there's not
very many people on here right now which
seems unusual to me so let me take a
look just to see you know that's all
that's all I can do I think so I guess
if no one shows up and this will be a
really short one and I could just delete
the whole thing but we'll see sometimes

I'm getting traffic oh we have hiking

so we'll see if anybody even shows up it
seems like it's really quiet usually
there's a few more people in it right
when I start so I've been told the
notifications aren't super awesome even
if people like want to get the
notification sometimes they come out a
little bit late and I have a lot of
stuff to do today so I may actually
bounce out if we don't get more folks
maybe hop in later okay now some more
people are coming in here we got max to
do we got EKKO Assad so this is awesome
couple cool things on the horizon
I haven't nailed it down a hundred
percent but I'll be doing a presentation
for SEMRush and oh and Jaron says you
just got the notification like this
moment Oh interesting that is so crazy
because I see like suddenly there's like
15 20 people that just logged on okay so
anyway I'll be doing a like a webinar
for some rush I'll let everyone know
about it it's gonna be in a few weeks I
had like a couple emails exchanged and I
had a meeting with some their content
manager folks or content folks they're
so excited to do a presentation there
and it's really cool
be invited just in general so that would
be nice and you know maybe I'll be able
to do more videos with him that sort of
thing so em vroom we have Steven on

you are articles and traffic is
increasing fantastic okay now there's a
handful of people on here so I'll just
recap a couple of the things that I said
that I'll do it faster
basically there's links in the
description and there are fairly
self-explanatory so all you have to do
is look at him and then if you're
interested you click on it so super
straightforward Oh to Jean as well and
we can get some questions rolling I'm
gonna hop over to the the comments
section which I have here and I'm gonna
I'm gonna go through and I'm gonna even
acknowledge some people that shouldn't
even be acknowledged so I got a comment
I'm not even sure if this showed up but
this guy um John Jones he says nobody
makes money from this apart from Doug
and he makes loads loads from you lot so
he obviously this this poor this poor
person obviously has sort of some sort
of I don't know perhaps mental illness
I'm not sure which is not anything to
joke about but they're obviously very
sad and I haven't noticed the over 600
videos that I published for free and all
the questions that I answer here that I
literally make no money from however
sometimes people ask me hey I want to
learn a little bit more I want to ask
you questions Doug and I want to go in
depth and those are the people that buy
the course that I offer from time to
time and I I don't
pressure people there John but if people
are interested in working closer with me
they'll often send me an email and say
hey I want to work closer with you and
then we do and I think John you would
agree if someone was working closely
with you and you were offering your
expertise that you would probably want
to get paid for it
and that's what I do so people don't
want to work a little more
closely with me they can and the people
that don't that's cool
I I welcome you know you folks like
Tammy who loves these free sessions
where we hang out and we talk shop about
affiliate marketing and the cool the
other part John which is fantastic is
that there are many people making money
like hiking gear lap traffic's
increasing there's just a handful of
people and you're just poorly informed
so that's not a question
it's just me complaining at someone and
you know what it could be you know a 12
year old kid who's just having some fun
that's the fun part with the internet
you just don't know who you're talking
to it could be a CEO of a very powerful
company but I doubt it okay moving on

much taller than I am a lot more hair as

that guys okay Stephen says people are
impatient and that's why courses are
good for people who want the answers
right now nothing wrong with that simple
similar to buying an auto repair manual
so quick cool thing I've been writing a
post about what I believe should be and
could be six-figure six-figure revenue
or income of service based businesses
most of these are like scratching my own
itch kind of thing where I know there's
a need for these services and I'm gonna
publish it on next Monday I need to
finish it up today polish it off we read
it all that stuff I'll probably do a
series of videos but I'm as far as
people being impatient Stephen you're
100% right a lot of people are like you
know I need more money or I want to make
money as fast as possible and if that is
the case generally you should not try
and
an affiliate site where you have to you
know slowly build up traffic if you need
money and you want to make money a
little bit faster almost a hundred
percent of the time you should start a
service based business because you can
literally start up like today like you
can start the process figuring out what
you're gonna offer how to figure out
your market and target the market and
reach out and get clients pretty quickly
and I outline a lot of this stuff in the
post that I'll send out next week so if

follow some of the links in the
description so that you can you know
check that out feel free to ask
questions I'm gonna hop over to that in
a second the thing is with the service
based business you can you know sell the
service execute the service and then you
get paid right away you don't have to
wait several months and the other great
part is and you can scale these
businesses and you may be thinking Doug
if these are such great ideas why don't
you do them well there's only so many
things we can do and I answer this in
the blog post by the way there's only so
many things we can do in in many cases
when I look at what a service based
business looks like to scale it it
requires a staff just in general you're
gonna have people doing the work right
if you scale it you need to be doing
more work you need to have you know
solid margins you need to look at all
that stuff and I basically didn't want
to have a huge team like a small team
like a lean group of folks and maybe you
know teams that I could like spawn up as
needed like for content and then
disassemble if I want to stop doing that
work so I prefer not to work with
clients specifically I'd rather work
with students right it's a little bit
different dynamic and it changes
everything right so I prefer teaching
people versus like doing the service now
again I go into a lot of detail I think
I have about eight ideas and service
businesses again if you're if you're
looking to get started
with something more quickly and you have
a specific skill set it may be perfect
so I'm not going to go into them too
much but some of them are fantastic
ideas and they're not necessarily like
unique ideas I usually give you an
example of a company that's already
doing it successfully so you can go look
and try and reverse engineer what they
are doing you can look at price points
and have an understanding about like
what the business model may look like so
I give you examples and I kind of give
you a high level of how you could go
about starting such a business okay

was gonna talk about that anyway but um
it didn't matter what you said or

say hello to each other and all that I
am says how much time does it take the
index in Google usually a couple days
you did a guest post around seven days
ago probably it depends on the specific
site and how many links go to the site
and all that stuff
most likely it's probably indexed
already but you can check it all you
have to do is type in I think site and
then the domain and then you could type
in the title and see if it's indexed so
you should be good to go Tammy says
concerning site speed what's my
threshold at what point am I happy with
the speed numbers under three seconds
generally fine under three seconds for
most of your pages your average page I
got a little crazy at some point and
I've upgraded hosting a few times so I
really like it to be like under I like
it I would love it if all the pages
would load under a second though so if
you're just looking for in general under
three seconds you're going to be faster
than most other sites on the Internet
um if you have a lot of traffic or you
know it's an impatient crowd then
perhaps under one second is the right
place to be good question vrooom says I
have written a few kgr articles but
they've gotten no traffic what are the
common reasons that might happen
broum this is something that does happen
all right so I'll go over some quick
ones I think I wrote a little bit more
about this in the FAQ section so please
do take a look at the FAQ section by the
way if people haven't signed up for my
email list you can follow the links in
the description too niches I project are
usually a some obvious way to sign up
then you can get emails from me you get
a lot of templates and other stuff but
you'll also get the email when I publish
that fantastic post on service based
businesses ok common reasons that you
may not be getting traffic you may not
have given it enough time you could be
keyword stuffing your article so I for a
kgr article I would recommend only using
the keyword phrase once in the title and
then once in the body and no more times
than that it could have been a very
difficult topic or category or just area
to compete an example of that may be
health or medical related where very
large sites seem to dominate further
let's see those are those are kind of
the main things the other part is like
if you have tons of affiliate links in
there or if you have only affiliate
articles on your site that sort of thing
so there's a few a lot of times it's
keyword stuffing from my observation
have a look at that if a queue section
Assad says what's my opinion on the
future of the affiliate site business
model by generating traffic from SEO
after 10 to 15 years I'm not much of a
futurist or visionary I have to say I
imagined
things will be very different and I
usually you know I don't predict things
very well but things change but they
change kind of slowly so I would imagine
there's gonna be like more with like a
voice search there's probably going to
be some I'm staring it like a monitor
right now there may be something
different I don't know if it'll be VR or
maybe our phones are gonna be a lot
smaller or be a lot bigger maybe it'll
be like on Zoolander everyone remember
Zoolander they had the tiny little phone
to open up maybe they're gonna be those
little flip phones I think I would
probably prefer to have a flip phone
nowadays like just change my number get
a flip phone go off the grid a little
bit so yeah I don't really know I think
the Internet is gonna shift and change a
little bit and it won't be clear until a
couple years before that that range so
but I mean people will still be
purchasing things and people will still
be you know trying to get affiliate
sales and referrals and all that stuff
all right
jared is on good to have you on Shannon
says when working with the kgr is it
possible to rank on page one within
hours of the all in title search results
or general search um patient you're just
wondering yes that is correct in fact
there was a gentleman who emailed me a
little while back like this morning like
over the last couple days and he was
like hey using the kgr kicks ass really
love it
I'm getting traffic I made 17 bucks I
launched my site like the beginning of
November or something like that it could
have been the end of October very young
site and basically he was like yo I just
published another post this morning and
within an hour it was ranking number two
so totally legit it can
be done quickly and your patience will
be rewarded so the the converse is like
you know you're gonna be able to do it
quickly but if you make a mistake then
you may not rank at all like the person
mentioned before echo says you got your
first sales last week your trifle
traffic is reached 1.2 K and a four
month old site you're at ten sales you
made fifty bucks thanks so much that's
fantastic
echo if I remember right you're a
student right feel free to write in here
may want to like cover what you're doing
cuz this is super interesting and I mean
I think it could be a good story so just

a classic like mistake so you can't put
prices in unless you're pulling it from
the API you can go check out the FAQ

this is one of those things where people
you know they see it done I mean I think
it's okay and then you know you can get

what else we have okay a couple
questions okay Steven says people are
always asking about content link then a
top-ranked SCO did some tests and found
out Google likes 1,300 q 1,300 words so
kgr articles should shoot for 1,300
words yep and I think that that seems
fine you know recently I've been saying
right in that sweet spot so Steven that
seems to hold up and the 1000 word to
1500 words or so Ryan asks is there a
standard conversion rate for Amazon
affiliate links no you've added links
and you me you want to know what to
expect or if you need to improve some
things okay so
in general there's a range that I can
give you so I've seen it in the like two
to three percent range for expensive
items alright so for more expensive
items I have seen low rates for like
more general a more general range I
would say like four and a half percent
up to about twelve or so if you're using
the keyword golden ratio a lot of times
you're gonna find that you'll have a
higher conversion rate because you're
really targeting the people on your site
so anywhere in that range is okay and if
you're on the lower end you have to look
at some things like are you getting the
right kind of traffic you have to look
at some other areas like let's see the
right traffic the price of the products
those would be the main things and
sometimes like I have audited people
sites and I see they don't have an
affiliate link until three quarters of
the way down the page and it's good if
you have an affiliate link a little bit
sooner okay and I'll just say pan who's
been on the channel a lot lately
appreciate all the comments there it's
pan yeah I am sorry I get lost about
halfway through there even fanatically
it's tough for me but I appreciate all
the comments and stuff like that there's
a serious issue with Google and I don't
think that's true you say when you make
searches a captcha appears to prove
you're not a robot that was totally
expected and the search results after
that are not real I don't know what you
mean about the search results are not
real but basically you have to go slow
and that is part of why this works and
it can't be automated very well I think
you're talking about the keyword golden
ratio and using the all in title and you
just can't you know you can't do
anything about it that is part of the
magic of it because it cannot be
automated well
um I am Tia's says can we work on
blogger instead of WordPress I believe
that is just fine I haven't researched
that in recent times but I believe
that's fine I'm assuming you mean it for
Amazon affiliate sites and I think that
is fine you would maybe need to
double-check with bloggers to make sure
it's okay but monetizing with Amazon
affiliate links is you know pretty
universal Jared says if I have to start
a new affiliate site when I buy a new
domain or try to buy an expired one I'm
gonna amend your question I would
probably start just fresh with the new
domain I wouldn't buy an expired domain
I would probably buy an existing blog I
would buy something that never expired I
don't want something that expired all
right
says this I'm in it for the long haul
and I'm patient I do however down my
progress and ability when you're
watching the traffic slowly increase
hubby keeps reminding me that he thinks
you're on the right track
yep and I think I mean you never know
when it's gonna pop and I think you have
you know you have to look at what's
working and make sure you're not making
mistakes and stuff but yes things
definitely go slowly
all right guys is on good to have you on
from across the pond there as I'm
looking through some of the questions
that were sent in I'm building some
links this is from burn artists so I'm
building some links through blog
commenting what should be the quote
maximum age for the post suitable for a
comment link and how many existing links
would be okay so this is it this is a
good questions about link building and I
often recommend that people do some blog
commenting it's a great way to network
with people so I typically look for
blogs blog posts a comment on that are
like under 30 or 40 days the younger the
better the reason why is I want to make
sure if I comment on someone's blog that
it's actually gonna be approved right
and I pretty sure someone published
something in the last 30 days it's not a
dead blog all right it just it's not
like when I went the mistake that I made
earlier when I first started a blog
commenting is I would comment on blogs
that were like 5 years old and sometimes
people just stopped paying attention to
their their content and they don't
really approve comments anymore so I
look for young young post in the last
you know month or so further I don't
really care how many comments there are
I'd like to have a few comments or at
least a blog that does have some
comments sometimes on some posts the
reason why is if you go to a blog that
like has no comments at all it may mean
that they don't really
prove them at all so if you go somewhere
you kind of want to see some activity in
some community there all right next
what's the best way to present lots of
articles on a site show the most recent
three to five and like Google find the
remainder yes
that's what I recommend I don't think I
mean if you have a page and there's like
40 articles on there like no one's gonna
scroll through and look at them so yeah
I just put the recent ones have like a
pretty normal looking homepage and yeah
alright IMTS also says you're confused
let's say you're working on laptops so
do you have to write only review
articles or both reviews and other
articles so you want to write other
articles too and I recommend you take a
look at the FAQ section and I go more
in-depth on content and stuff like that
so take a look there
Evan speak some wisdom and says this
stuff takes an eternity
you've post you have posts that are six
to eight months old that are still
growing yeah exactly and echo says okay
so get this everyone and echo will
exchange some information the email but
basically echo got his first sales let
me see you got your first sales you have
1.2 so 1200 visitors I think I'm a month
and you you've made 50 bucks you made 10
sales and echo is is everybody ready for
this echo is where we got echo is a 17
year old high school student and you
wanted to be an entrepreneur and you've
been looking for a way to start a
business for six months and you came
across my channel 17 year old he's made
50 bucks the site's four months old so
just it takes effort and like some
patience
that stuff so awesome job there echo and
neo bandit says you've been to my site
and you put your name and email to get
free information and you've done it many
times and you've got nothing with from
me so you may already be on the email
list so if you're already on the email
list then that could be why otherwise
I'm not really sure cuz I I don't know
why you wouldn't have gotten anything
from me it usually works for most people
so sorry about that but you if you're
still having issues and just double
check your spam folder as well next Oh
Chi says say there's only one all in
title and in your post it's the second
place if you have more words why be able
to bump them does it work like that
no it doesn't you may be able to bump
them but it is not dependent on how long
it is oh I oh not what's up good to have

more people some more students on here
from the 5 figure a niche site course so
overall if you have questions feel free
to ask in the chat I'm going to continue
looking at the questions that were left
in the comments around here so
a lot of people do ask if you could use
the keyword golden ratio for YouTube the
answer is not really or maybe I don't
know the problem is you can't look up
the same data for YouTube as you can for
like Google search right we there's not
a way to look that up you can get an
idea relatively like our people
searching for this term more than
another but the other thing is it's hard
to like sort of document all in title if
you're looking in YouTube further it's
not as useful because YouTube mostly
YouTube views mostly rely on suggested
videos and if you think about your own
viewing pleasure you're probably seeing
things suggested to you then you're like
oh I like that thumbnail in title I like
the looks of that bald guy I'm gonna
watch that video alright so that's kind
of how it works and if you look it
depends on your channel and what you're
going for and all that but in general
it's going to be suggested videos that
are driving most of your traffic and
views and all that stuff on YouTube
versus the versus the I totally lost my
train of thought right in the middle of
a sentence so it's mostly oh there's so
many other factors for YouTube views and
most of your views are not coming from
search on YouTube most of them are
probably suggested videos and there's so
many other ranking factors on YouTube so
that said it's not super helpful but
basically if you find a kgr term you
could probably publish a video and it'll
probably do well in google search and it
will probably do fine on the YouTube
side if viewers like it
oh Justin's on good to have you on
haven't heard from you in a bit hope
things are well true says when is it
time to reconsider if you chose the
right niche you've had your site for
four months you've had six sales not a
sale this
for the product that you're pushing I
think you have to look deeper into the
details like what's going on
so I would say if it were me and my site
was four months old now I only had six
sales I would probably move on in
general but it could be that you're
doing something wrong so how do you
figure out if you're doing something
wrong
well there's like an endless number of
things that could be going on there but
with the amount of information that I
have here it's hard to say but based on
what I see I would move on but I don't
have enough information so don't listen
to me Oh alex is on
thanks for the emails Alex I'm gonna

PayPal information that you need I do
some one-on-one coaching and audits and
stuff like that and Alex from Brazil
wanted me to have a look at a site you
know kind of you know a situation where
he needs someone to let him know what he
needs to work on are there any issues so
that sort of thing and always says your
site's going great three months old
you're getting lots of sales fantastic
okay Dex
says can I speak to the keyword golden
ratio in conjunction with semantic
keywords I think you man I think you're
just spelling the the brand name but you
mean semantic keywords the kgr works on
paper but doesn't account for semantic
keywords showing up in the results okay
this is a pretty pretty good question
basically you can find the kgr term and
then you know if it works out on paper
great you google it and you see what
results show up so if you found
something that was like top-rated
ballpoint pen and you see that Google
has replaced top-rated with best then
you know that you probably shouldn't use
top-rated
just go with
and then you see the results there and
it's probably not a kgr term so from
there you can determine what Google does
semantically with those keywords nation
what's up
mem says in your site you had a manual
penalty for a plugin for review plug-in
do I recommend schema rich snippet
plugins Google said that you cannot put
reviews yourself if you provide service
please explain I'm sorry I don't really
know much I don't know much about that
but I would say check with Google check
with Google since they're the one that's
that are telling you what you can and
can't do in that situation if you've got
a manual penalty for something this is
stupid
but I would say don't do it anymore
alright so I don't know much about what
you're talking about
specifically but basically if you had an
issue with it stop doing it and then if
they said here's what we don't like then
change it up
perhaps you you're able to ask for
reconsideration and then see what
happens okay Deb Nell says how can you
rank for a keyword that is misspelled
the kgr of the misspelled is better so
don't go from misspelled words similar
to Dex's question there Google
understands but usually like what you're
what you're looking for so even if it's
misspelled they will correct it all
right so they'll they'll correct it so
don't go
don't try and outsmart like the
algorithm by misspelling words we're
trying to rank for misspelled stuff
so just don't try to just I couldn't
work truth also said you get frustrated
since you haven't sold an item you
reviewed especially since your first
affiliate site made 1300 the second
month 3600 the third month and 8000 the
fourth so I think yeah if you already
know the ropes and you've done so well
then yeah you probably have a good hunch
like okay this is not gonna work and
it's literally there are some categories
that don't sell well via affiliate sites
it's just it's just a thing Jarrod says
if your competitors are beating you with
grey hat PB ends in what I try to take
the high road or copy what they're doing
personally I would probably take the
high road if you're just copying what
they're doing then you're only catching
like you're always going to be behind
them they're always going to like be a
few steps ahead of you so I I would say
if you're just trying to like copy
someone you're only you're kind of stuck
right there okay and
hmm says your other websites are fine
you just want to use the rich schema
plugin for better syrup visually
visualization is that okay on your niche
site and you're talking about a review
site using rich snippet I think that's
fine I don't know specifically of any
issues with that and some people love to
use the you know review schema situation
all right let's see what else we have
here with questions I'm looking here on
the questions that were sent in via
comments and I look at all of these and
I'm trying to do more comments or sorry
more videos where I look at the
questions from the comments and I give
you a shout out so I think later next
week there's gonna be one of those
coming out I don't mention it too often

some beer event stuff but um or gee
who's sitting sitting on the floor over
there I usually like walk her tons
during the day and I haven't like
figured out the right the right sort of
schedule and how I want to shape my day

out I think on Monday and I keep an eye

so I use I got a logitech I think it's
like a c920 webcam and it works pretty
good like I upgraded it because it's a
little higher quality than my my Mac
camera which is pretty good but this is

sure what you're working with now as far
as placing the camera in meeting
monitors in front of you in that case
you would probably want to get like a
small tripod and set it up like right in
front of the right behind your monitor

so if you don't know what you're doing I
recommend you build your first site kind
of learn things and you have you know if
you have a budget that you can work with
you can invest as needed but you need
those core skills I believe a hundred
percent that you need to understand
keyword research you need to understand
the inner workings of like WordPress so
you understand how to change some things
and I also recommend that you know how
to hire people to you know do some like
write some content for you and moving on
so the other option is if you know your
way around Lucas already I would say
buying an existing site is a great way
to go because you know you know it has
