in this video I'm sharing with you the

best wordpress plugins for 20/20 now

when it comes to WordPress plugins you

don't only still too many it's easy to

get very carried away and just you know

it still loads loads of plugins to add

loads of functionality to your website

but basically the more plugins you add

the slower your site will become and it

can cause other problems as well because

plugins they don't always play nicely

with each other so it's for this reason

I'm only gonna be recommending 10

plugins in this video and I've grouped

them together to cover the essential

areas the five areas that I'm going to

be recommending plugins for today are

SEO and analytics

so basically optimizing your site for

search engines and hooking it up to

Google Analytics the next one is backup

and security so keeping your WordPress

website nice and safe and also taking

backups of it so if anything does go

wrong you can easily restore it the

third area is going to be performance so

getting your website running nice and

fast the fourth group is basically just

generally useful plugins ones that I

just think you know they're just so

useful you can't live without them and

then the fifth area is productivity so

basically making you more productive

with your WordPress website making it

easier to do things quicker to do things

and just yeah generally enabling you to

add content and work with your website

in a much more efficient way I think we

should jump straight in and take a look

at these plugins before we do if you're

okay so the first two plugins are for

SEO and analytics two very important

things that you need on your website so

let's start with SEO for SEO I'm going

to be recommending rank math I know it's

different from last year where I was

recommending Yoast but I've recently

switched a few sites over from Yoast to

rank math and yeah it is better it's

better in a number of ways the first

being it's got a much nicer interface

when it comes to working with your posts

or actually you know configuring

site-wide SEO options far nicer

interface much clearer much easier to

use

the second reason why I love ranked math

over Yoast is that it includes all of

the premium features from Yoast that you

have to pay for and it basic isn't to

you for free one example of this is the

multiple keyword optimization so when

you're optimizing a post rather than

just optimizing it for one keyword you

can optimize it for multiple keywords

and to do this with Yoast you have to

pay now I recently did a video on

switching over from Yoast to a ranked

math I'll put a link up in a card now

and you'll also find links to everything

that I talked about in the description

of this video so yeah go check that out

if you're thinking of making the switch

I highly recommend that you do so

plug-in number one is ranked math the

second plug-in I've got for you in the

SEO and analytics category is well it's

an analytics plug-in and it's called

monster insights it works with Google

Analytics so you will need a Google

Analytics account to use it and once

you've got one of those it makes it

really easy to connect your site and

make sure that you're tracking

everything correctly and it also brings

a little bit of data in to your

WordPress dashboard so you can quickly

see how many visitors you've got and you

know all the other important metrics

there is a premium version if you want

it but generally you'll probably farm

with the free one and yeah go get it and

start tracking your visitors with Google

Analytics

so let's talk about performance I've got

a couple of plugins for you in this

category the first is WP fastest cash

it's a freemium plug-in again but you'll

be fine with the free version generally

I have got the premium version but

there's not a huge difference between

them and the reason why I like this

caching plug-in I still like it in fact

because I think I recommended it in last

year's video is that it works really

well it improves your performance of

your website and will increase your

Google PageSpeed score but the main

reason why I prefer this over some of

the others like W free fastest cash I

think is Google W free whatever

performance plug-in is that it's really

easy to use the options are minimal use

ticks and boxes and it does the rest

some of the other plugins just far too

complicated

far too many options and far too many

things that can break your website

whereas this one's nice and simple and

straightforward and you know just does

what it says on the tin it makes you

website faster so why wouldn't you use

it if you're not running a performance

plug-in go check it out maybe you are

running performance plug-in go check

this one out and see what difference it

makes to your website speed and I think

you're gonna like it

the second plug-in is called smush or

smoosh something like that

it's a freemium plug-in again so there

is a premium version if you want to but

the free version is really good and

basically what this plug-in does is it

optimizes your images as you upload them

to your posts and pages now images have

a big effect on the performance of your

website so if you've been a little bit

lazy and maybe you haven't optimized

your images in Photoshop or whatever

before you upload them this plug-in will

take care of it as they hit your

WordPress website it will compress them

down make them smaller make them load

faster and you generally do all that

stuff that's really important if you

want a nice and fast website

so there you go for performance get WP

fastest cash and get the Smosh image

optimization plugin so in this part the

video we're gonna be talking about

backups and security two very important

things when it comes to running a

WordPress website you're gonna want to

make sure that you take regular backups

just in case something goes wrong or you

messed something up and you need to

restore your site and you're going to

want to make sure that your site is as

secure as it can possibly be because

unfortunately with WordPress websites

they do get hacked they do I've been

hacked I know those people that have

been act so yeah you want to make sure

that you make your site as secure as you

possibly can

let's talk about backups first backup

plug-in I'm going to be recommending is

updraft it's a free plugin and it just

makes backups really easy

it creates the packages for you you can

schedule it if you want to and when it

comes to restoring again it's just

really easy and straightforward so these

are number one backup plug-in for

WordPress and yeah if you're not taking

regular backups

you should definitely install this

plug-in and get it up and running now

you might be lucky enough to have a good

host that regularly takes backup to your

site which is a good thing but it's nice

to kind of have some control and do it

yourself as well especially if you're

making some major changes to your

website because you're gonna want to

make sure that you do that backup before

you implement them just in case

something happens and you need to go

back so let's move on to security the

first thing is you're going to want to

make sure that you are running an SSL

certificate on your website now most

hosting companies do provide one for

free

my favorite hosting company SiteGround

link in the description provides on for

free but once you've got one you're

going to want to configure your website

to make sure that it uses it correctly

otherwise those that don't know and this

tells difficut gives you that nice

little padlock up in the address bar

make sure your users and visitors feel

nice and safe so the plugin I'm going to

be recommending is called really simple

SSL once you've got a stiff occur from

your host install this plug-in turn it

on it will do the rest it will make sure

your site is only running the SSL

version which is very important

especially when it comes to SEO and it

will just take care of all that side of

things and make sure that your sites you

know nice and encrypted and using SSL so

that's a really simple plugin as the

name suggests go get it right now

and finally when it comes to security

I'm gonna be recommending the security

plug-in this is a free plug in the

security to offer a premium file service

but I'm not sure that that's needed

plug-in takes care of a lot of security

tasks of it hardens up parts of

WordPress that can be easily exploited

it monitors exactly what's going on on

your site whether there's anything

suspicious and it just generally takes

care of everything to do with security

the reason why I've gone for security

over say something like wordfence which

I know it's very popular is well I just

haven't got on particularly well with

work fence I find that it's a little bit

over protective when it comes to

securing your site and yeah it's always

locking me out of my site that's my

biggest problem with wordfence it is

just too secure and you can end up you

know looking yourself out so check out

security you might want to look at word

fence as well so it's very popular but I

just find that too secure so for now I'm

gonna be recommending security go take a

look harden up your website and make

sure that it's catch nice and safe so in

this part of the video we're gonna be

talking about productivity so these are

plugins that just make you more

productive make it easier to do stuff

and save you some time make you more

efficient all that kind of thing I've

got two plugins for you the first is a

really simple nice lightweight plugin

it's called duplicate post and yeah I

use this on pretty much all of my

WordPress websites and yeah it does what

it says on the tin it allows you to very

easily make a copy of a post or a page

and then you can use that copy as a new

postal page so it's really useful if

you've got like a template and that

you're using or you're just kind of

reusing bits of pages and posts and for

your content I find it really useful and

yeah it's got a couple of options you

can make a copy you can make a new draft

from an existing post and well I think

that's about it it's free it's

lightweight and yeah I find it really

useful the next plug-in is my favorite

page builder it is Elementor if you're

not using a page builder i really

suggest you do because i just don't get

on well with that Guttenberg editor I

don't know about you but yeah it just

doesn't work well for me so let's

replace it with a page builder and at

the moment my favorite is elemental

there was a free version and a pro

version

done a video on the differences you

should go check that out as a card

appeared somewhere also links in the

description and yeah it just makes it

really easy to put together

posts and pages it comes with a whole

lot of templates to get you started

it's got a lovely drag-and-drop

interface with loads of different

widgets and it just makes making pages

and posts really easy it works with most

themes though there are some things that

are better optimized for it than others

but generally it should work with most

themes and of course if you're looking

for a new theme just double check before

you buy or download it that it is

element or compatible and you'll be fine

so to improve your productivity

go get elemental and go and get the

super cup post plug-in final two plugins

that I'm going to be recommending today

they're just generally useful I just

used them on pretty much all of my sites

because yeah they're useful and well in

some respects you kind of need them so

they're definitely essential first

plug-in is called WP forms it's the

forms plug-in so ya allows you to add

forms to your WordPress website maybe a

contact form maybe a newsletter signup

form it's really easy to use it's got a

lovely drag-and-drop interface you just

drag on the fields that you like arrange

them in the order that you want and then

you can drop the form into a post or

page using a shortcode so ready to use

and I think pretty much every website

needs a form of some sort so you are

gonna need a forms plug-in and you don't

go far wrong with WP forms just a quick

now if you're looking to add more

complicated forms maybe you need

multiple page forms or you need to hook

up to other services my other go to

forms plug-in is gravity forms it is a

premium plugin which is why I've given

the preference to WP forms but if you've

got a little bit of money and you want

the ultimate forms plug-in do go check

out gravity forms called a whole load of

add-ons and there's pretty much nothing

that gravity forms can't do when it

comes to forms man I said forms a lot in

that last bit in my final plugin is kind

of a plugin and service tied together

and it is I you bender which I still

think I'm saying incorrectly but

basically I bender gets you covered when

it comes to cookie policy and privacy

policy in almost

stuff that you need on your website to

you know be legit and you know these

things even have an effect on your SEO

no no I'm talking about do check out my

SEO checklist video link up now but yeah

it's really important that you do have a

privacy policy and cookie policy and I

you bender takes care of all of that for

you you sign up for their low cost

service you tick the boxes in terms of

what you're running on your website it

generates the privacy policy for you or

the cookie policy or indeed the cookie

pop up annoying pop-up gdpr thing that

the EU people makers have on our

websites does all of that for you

you then install the plugin onto your

website hook it up to our upender and it

just kind of does it all for you and

yeah it's really easy I've done a couple

of videos on exactly how to use it if

you want a bit more detail links in the

description probably in a card as well

and go check it out if you haven't got a

privacy policy in the anger cookie

policy you need one right now so yeah go

check it out go sign up it's really low

cost and by the way the link is an

affiliate link so I will learn a very

recommended I use it on all of my sites

especially my affiliate websites and

yeah I've never had a problem with it

it's excellent
