HOW TO BE AN ONLINE ENGLISH TUTOR + SALARY [ENGSUB] #Best Education Page #Online Earning

HOW TO BE AN ONLINE ENGLISH TUTOR + SALARY [ENGSUB]

Is he singing while playing Dota?
Seriously?
There it is.
So, hello guys.
To those who watched the video with me and my husband
the sari-sari store haul.
Thank you so much to those who liked the video and subscribed.
There's no intro.
We'll talk right away about this video's topic
it's all about home-based online English teaching.
So why are we going to talk about this?
Well, it's because I myself am an English teacher
and a lot of my friends are asking about this job
like the salary.
Is it difficult?
Is it legit?
That kind of questions.
Well, I really don't know why are they asking that.
Maybe it's because they're just curious
Or maybe they're interested in this kind of job
So this video is not only for my friends but also my viewers who are watching.
Let's get started with the qualifications.
First of all, you have to be 18 and above
So it' over 18 years old. No one's old enough here.
Even though you're retired, this can be your extra income.
Actually, I have some friends who are online English teachers
in their line of 6.
They still can get in front of the computer.
They're super!
Other qualifications for being an online English teacher
is the knowledge of the English language.
You're a teacher and you're going to teach English, right?
You need to know English, at least the basic grammar.
Most especially the tenses, okay?
Past tense, present tense, future tense
because these are foreign students' common mistakes.
The Philippines are considered the best English speaking country here in Asia.
Among the Asians countries, the Philippines is the best picked.
Yes, Filipinos.
Filipinos have a frizzy personality.
And we also have a friendly atmosphere, should I say it like that?
So, yeah.
Maybe you're thinking
"How is that Dong? I'm not really that good at English. My English is really not that great."
Another qualification of an online English teacher is confidence.
When I started as an online English teacher, I wasn't that fluent
I only knew the grammar points, what I learned in school, stuff like that.
So fluency is really not that necessary.
You only need to be confident in what you're saying.
Don't make it obvious that what you're saying is wrong.
Just go with the flow.
Don't be nervous because as I said before
Filipinos are the best English speakers in Asia.
Okay?
There's nothing to worry about.
If you think that you're not that good, what would they think?
I'm just joking!
I'm so racist.
So, next is patience.
All the other qualifications don't matter if you don't have any patience.
Independently of your subject, if you're a teacher you need to be patient with your students.
So the must-haves.
The things that you'll need. Firstly is a quiet environment.
You need to teach peacefully.
In my case, I teach in my bedroom.
I made some space here so that I can teach peacefully.
Your background shouldn't be messy, okay?
Because it'll be a video call.
So, yeah. As I said a clutter-free background, at least a white background
but it also depends on the company.
if they'll be providing a background uniform for their teachers.
Of course, you'll need a computer or a laptop.
This is really really necessary because this is where you'll be teaching.
This is my set-up. Let me show you my set-up.
This is it, very simple.
This webcam is A4tech, I bought it at Octagon for 700₱.
But if you already own a webcam, where your face is visible, it'll be fine.
Another thing that you'll need as an online English teacher is a noise cancellation headset.
Mine is Plantronics.
I bought it on Lazada for 1680₱, it was on sale at that time.
It's convenient because it's lightweight.
This is what call centers agents use.
In their office.
It's super lightweight, the sound quality is good, it has a microphone and it has a remote control.
Look.
This the brand: Plantronics. It has a call button, volume up, volume down and mute.
When you press it'll light up and mute.
So this is what you'll need, a computer with headset and webcam.
Okay.
Next is Skype or Zoom on your computer.
If you have all these things but not an internet connection, then you won't go anywhere.
About the internet connection, you'll need a LAN: local area network connection.
Which is wired, or DSL or fiber. Okay.
And I think the download speed should be at least 3 mpbs and the upload speed from 0.5 to 0.7 mpbs. I guess.
That would be okay. The important thing is that you're above that limit.
So this the minimum required speed of the companies.
Optional is the backup.
Of course the Internet's backup.
Power backup.
Like, for example, a power backup is UPS and generator.
I even saw someone using an inverter, a car's battery, you have to be wise to have a backup.
A pocket WiFi.
That depends on what is the most powerful signal in your location
Globe, Smart, Sun, Red Mobile or whatever that is.
So, that's that.
And also a phone and a laptop that have a battery.
And a powerbank.
So, let's move on to the topic "What to expect".
Just search on Google for some companies.
You'll find all the companies. I won't mention any company here
because some of the companies are very discrete when it comes to information.
I don't want to get sued.
I don't want to get sued.
Just look for any companies. There are a lot.
Chinese company, Korean company, Japanese or whatever.
Just send your application forms.
When you apply to an online English company, you won't go to the office for your interview.
The interview will happen online via Skype or Zoom.
That's enough.
Is the interview difficult?
All I can say is that it's not difficult.
When they interviewed me they asked me to tell something about myself. That's all.
You just need to be yourself.
There's no need to switch from Tagalog to English or be anxious.
It's like chatting with a friend.
So, don't be nervous when they'll interview you.
Next on our "What to expect" is tech-check, technical check.
They won't actually go to your house to control what type of computer you have and the internet connection speed.
They'll make you download a software and from there they'll detect what are the specs of your computer and also the internet connection.
So next, on "What to expect" is foreign students once you entered the company.
So why are foreign students such a big deal?
It's because they have a different attitude.
I do believe that every country has their different culture.
These are the top two topics that you shouldn't be talking about during the class:
religion and government.
The Philippines is a very religious country and sometimes we like to share something with them.
And most of the other Asian countries are atheists
or Buddhist or whatsoever.
They are very close-minded about our faith.
You really shouldn't be talking about this or you may argue.
Okay. And government.
Most especially in China since they're a communist country.
So they don't want to talk about their government.
But I think if we're talking about our government it'll be fine.
Also for the Koreans. I think all of the countries in Asia or whatever country you're teaching in, you shouldn't be talking about it.
Unless that's what's in the textbook, okay?
So, let's proceed with the FAQ.
Salary.
All about the salary.
How much do you earn teacher?
How much do you earn Jhazel?
A 25-minute class ranges from 50₱ up to 80₱.
So, one class in online English teaching most of the time is a 25 minute class, per student, one on one, on video-call.
Sometimes there are higher offers from different companies, sometimes it's lower
but this is the average price of the salary.
The salary includes the week-end incentives, they add the salary every week-end.
Most especially on Sundays.
But in my case, I don't work on Sundays because it's the sabbath day.
Let's make it holy.
It's no work no pay. So, if you work really hard you can earn 30 000₱ per cut-off.
Which is 15 days.
Imagine this 30 000₱ in only 15 days.
And you don't even commute.
So there are these types of online English teacher, where they can earn 60 000₱ to 80 000₱ a month.
So, I hope I motivated you as well.
So, next question.
Do companies provide the lessons because I'm really not that good at making lesson plans.
So these kinds of questions.
The company provides the lessons.
When you apply you'll first get a training about the teaching method of the materials.
Okay? So that's it.
Next.
Can I buy the set-up after? Like the computer, the internet connection once I've already entered the job?
It's impossible to happen.
You need a good internet connection when they'll interview you.
Already there they'll see if you have the potential.
So you need to have all these things.
Whatever you already own, okay?
Whatever you own and can still make use of it.
Whatever is your internet connection at home. I think you have an internet connection at home that'll be fine for your interview.
And then computer, laptop. Maybe you already have one.
That'll be fine.
I remember that when I was applying for this job I already provided an internet connection.
What I applied for was a Planet cable.
The only thing available in Cavite at that time.
So, yeah. Planet cable.
And it's 5 mpbs for only 1000₱.
But as of now, I'm in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija and our internet connection is PLDT home DSL.
It's okay, yeah.
It's okay.
So, next.
Do you have any benefits? Like health card, or Philhealth or SSS, Pagibig?
No.
Because we are an independent service provider.
We're not employees of the company, we're just business partners.
So if you want to apply, do it voluntarily at SSS, Pagibig, Philhealth.
Next.
Do you get more tired as an online English teacher at home instead of working outside?
No.
Do you know the fatigue of going out, like waking up in the morning
then you have to make breakfast, take care of your children that are going to school
and you also have to go to work
then you have to commute with the traffic all haggard.
No.
It's more exhausting working outside than working at home.
One step ahead from your bed and you're there to your workplace.
Working as online English teacher is very convenient.
Did you know that my friends who are online English teacher--
since this is what you only see. They breastfeed their children.
So, next.
Is there a 13th month pay?
There's not.
Sad to say.
So, next. Are there any taxes?
Some companies already deduct the teacher's salary for the taxes.
With other companies, you're the one who goes to pay your taxes.
So, next.
What if
Okay? What if
you went absent because of a brownout, or the internet connection got disconnected
You went absent without saying it to the company
There'll be a deduction on your salary.
Because you're the one responsible in your workplace
You're the one in command of you're schedule, you're in charge of it
you're assigning yourself your working hours
And you also go absent?
So, don't be discouraged guys about what I said
like if you went absent they'll deduct money from your salary
It depends on the company how much money will be deducted
You can dispute it if your absence was really reasonable.
Okay. So these are the most commonly asked questions.
Oh, this!
So how's the salary? It's online transfer trough BPI or BDO or PayPal
twice a month, so that is per cut-off.
15 and by the end of the month.
Okay?
I think this is where the video will finish
I hope I provided all the questions, what's more? if you have more questions just comment down below and I'll try my best to reply
I hope this video helped you a lot and motivated you to be an online English teacher.
Well for me, this job is really fine.
Yeah. I'm really content in a way that I can spend time with my family
Mostly because I'll be a mom
And I can work while I'm taking care of my child, right?
So, yeah. This job is ideal for the housewives.
Alright. So, thank you for those who watched.
And once again, this is Jhazel de Vera and see you on my next video!
Like and subscribe, okay? Bye!
