in this video we're gonna be looking at
weird content formatting issues I had a
comment the other day on one of my
videos from a viewer in fact this was
now and they were adding content to
their website and it was appearing in
uppercase a little very strange so let's
get started and let's take a look hello

so in this video we're gonna be looking
at some weird formatting issues that a
few of you have been mentioning to me
now this usually occurs when you're
copying and pasting stuff from other
software so maybe word or another
website something on that and what
happens is some of that formatting
information kind of gets into the
content and get into WordPress and
screws everything up so let me jump on
the computer and I'll show you how you
can find out what's going on and how you
can fix it let's go so I'm over at this
site which is a site that was sent to me
by one of you guys one of the viewers
have asked if I could use it in a video
they said it's fine so here we go
and I'm on a blog post and if we scroll
down we can see that it's it's all in
capital letters which is a bit weird
because Kingdom by default doesn't
already do that and yet the formatting
is just a bit off because it should be a
different color and yeah nothing is kind
of showing as it should do now the main
reason why this happens is because
you've copied from somewhere else maybe
it was Microsoft Word or some other word
processor or even maybe another website
and a whole load of formatting
information has come across and it's
really screwing everything up so we need
to get rid of any formatting code or
meta stuff that's in the content so that
then it just applies the styles that
from the theme we want to say let's
click Edit post and just have a look at
what's going on okay here we go so you
are gonna need to switch to the text
editor it looks okay if you look at it
with the visual editor switch to text
and then we can start to see what's
going on so here we go we've got this
span you see which has got a whole load
of stuff in it
font sizes and font families so you need
to take all this out if you find it in
your content do by hand like this just
by going through and taking out these
tags that we won at the beginning and
one at the end of each paragraph like
this another way to do it is just copy
the text from here it's a bit tricky
because there's images and what you do
is you'd copy the text then you want to
paste it into something where you can
get rid of any styling sometimes URL
bars quite good for that paste it in
there and copy it again and if I paste
that back in there we go but it has it's
lost the paragraph formatting ago so
you'd have to do that there's a little
bit of work whichever way you do it
you can copy and paste it into something
it doesn't have any formatting and then
that will clean up the text sometimes if
you do a paste and match style that also
helps but I'm just gonna go through and
do it kind of manually so I mostly get
rid of any of these spans I'll leave the
H free that's good we can have a H free
for all of these spans they're all no
good so it can take a minute or two to
find them all so what I'm gonna do is
just work through get rid of them all I
feel like miss any but save you having
to watch me do this which is going to be
very boring
let me just speed up time

okay so I've cleared that all those
spans there's none left nice and clean
it's update and take a look okay we post
we scroll down there we go we've got ah
I mean I've missed a little bit but yes
looking better you can see that the
color is now much the theme colors it's
not in capital letters anymore just that
one there what if I miss dead let me go
back and just have a look at what's
going on but yeah we're pretty much all
done where was that one yeah look missed
it
span I do even a little find in the
browser see if I've missed any yep
there's another one there at the end of
that bullet point so I think we're all
done so yeah the general message is if
you've got some text in your content or
whatever there's not displaying
correctly it's probably because there's
some weird tags in the in the content
that's doing some formatting stuff so
you need to switch the text editor clean
all those HTML tags and stuff out so
there we go we're all done that brings
the end of this video hopefully you've
tied it up with your content and it's
all looking like it should please let me
