this is the same whether you're doing
video marketing content marketing
through blogging or whether you run a
podcast it doesn't really matter which
marketing method you're approaching or
even the daily emails that you send this
has to be done correctly or else you're
going to fail there's no two ways about
that our world has changed and this is
the new way of doing things so I'm gonna
share that concept and then I'm gonna
share a story and the story is gonna
help you have an aha moment that's gonna
make it perfectly clear so this is the
day that you get it you get it once and
for all and you know how to move forward
in a way that big corporations are doing
that big celebrities are doing that
stories really gonna make it all make
sense so what's the big number one key
it's to educate more than you sell
truthfully if you look at the content
I've put out on this channel and if you
look at the great marketers in the world
they put out a ton of helpful
information and this has been true for
decades and decades right if you go back
into the direct response world into
direct mail marketing back in the day
the companies that made hundreds upon
hundreds of millions of dollars mailing
out letters to random people around the
country or around the world they all use
an education based marketing approach in
order to ultimately sell what they want
to sell right so it's your willingness
to give value and to offer helpful
educational content is what grows your
audience it helps them like you trust
you and get to know you and once all of
that happens at that point they're
willing to buy to you and do you need to
sell to them in that moment you don't
all you need is a mechanism to
facilitate the transaction right having
a little bit of sales copy may help may
not but ultimately if you've built the
you've given value first
in advance lots of value first you will
find that people are much more willing
to buy from you regardless of how great
your sales copy is so let's get to that
story that I promised and the story is
actually it's a contrast of two
different networks that have been on air
here in the United States for quite some
time and the approach number one is the
Home Shopping Network where people stand
there on TV and literally sell sell sell
twenty-four hours a day seven days a
week all day every day they're just
selling things option number two is the
Food Network and the Food Network has
celebrity chefs and they're showing you
how to make recipes they're showing you
how to create things in the kitchen
they're showing you how to have fun
cooking in the kitchen they're showing
off the great things that they're making
they're educating you they're
entertaining you and ultimately they're
selling a lot without ever selling
anything now you want to operate more
like the Food Network than you do the
Home Shopping Network and why is the
food the food networks so successful
let's look at their highest paid
celebrity chef Rachael Ray who I was
looking for real statistics and I don't
know if I found any true statistics I
found a couple of numbers that she's
worth about 75 million dollars and that
she made approximately 18 million
dollars last year obviously she earns a
salary for the content that she produces
right from the advertisements they sell
but I would assume and I would go as far
as guessing that most of her income
actually comes from her book sales and
from the sales of her pots her pants her
spatulas and all of the other wares that
are branded to Rachael Ray that are sold
through Walmart's and targets and and
stores and probably Costco's stores all
over the country and potentially all
over the world and this has been done
over and over and over again the pioneer
kitchen or the Pioneer Woman or whatever
her name is she has her own set of pots
and pans and everything Emeril has his
own things all the celebrity chefs sell
their wares now think about this for a
minute I want you to really kind of look
into the idea during the Rachael Ray
Show or the Pioneer Woman show or
Emeril's show
do they ever pitch their pots and pans
no they don't right they just use them
what do they do in these they're
entertaining they're informative they
blend that infotainment right that
informative entertaining content they
keep you engaged they teach you how to
use the pots and pans they teach you
some amazing things that look really
easy to do with their pots and pans
they're absolutely using their pots and
pans but they never have a call to
action at the end of the video they
never say okay now click the button on
your screen now call this number and buy
it's not an infomercial and yet they're
selling hundreds of millions of dollars
in products it's because they're using
education right they've built a platform
and
it's not just that they're using
education they're ultimately
relationship building people who watch
Rachael Ray over and over and they tune
into the Rachel ratio and they fall in
love with the character of Rachael Ray
when they're out shopping in Walmart
they're like okay I need some new pots
and pans and they're looking at the wall
of options and they see one that's got
Rachael Ray's face on it it is a
no-brainer
there is no sales going on in that
moment the user the in the individual
needs a new item to solve a problem they
don't have pots and pans they want to
cook more at their house so they go to
the store to obtain them they look on
the shelves they see a recognizable face
someone they know like and trust boom
the selling was actually done through
the informational educational content
the entertaining content that's been
published for years and years and years
and this is the same reason why these
individuals are able to become
best-selling authors very very quickly
it's because they've given so much
goodwill so much value and again the
value can be in the form of
entertainment and information and
ultimately that little blend of the two
so I urge you to ask yourself how are
you going about building your business
online what approach are you taking with
your marketing are you taking the home
shopping network or the QVC model or are
you taking the approach of the Food
Network or an educational informational
entertaining network that's actually
there to help people is that the
approach that you're taking because
what's happened is our world is and has
changed and now that everyone has
supercomputers in their pockets in the
form of iPhones and Google phones and
and Android phones right everyone is
more connected than ever before and if
you're just trying to sell sell sell
they're gonna smell you out and you're
gonna get some real negative content
because web 2.0 allows your customers
and the people that you're aggressively
pitching day in and day out your stuff
they now can review you they can now
write blog posts about you and if you
burn them that will come back to haunt
you
20 years ago this sort of infrastructure
wasn't in place that's why all the hard
selling used to work so well the
door-to-door selling used to work so
well the infomercials late at night
worked so well and were so easy to
produce and to sell to people because we
weren't a connected
economy at that point and now today we
are so you need to position yourself as
the most helpful informative enjoyable
entertaining individual in your little
sub niche this is what my wife has done
in that little kind of intersection
between spirituality angels and
meditation right with what she does that
is her niche she is one of the most
helpful informative she publishes
probably more content than anyone else
in the space she is a prophetic content
publisher you need to take that approach
as well for me in the internet marketing
space I've decided to just go full on
teaching everything I can I'm probably
not all that entertaining and that's
okay I'm very nuts-and-bolts but this is
a reflection of my personality and
honestly there's people like Will Smith
out there who are vlogging if you want
to be entertained go watch professional
entertainers I'm here to help you get
steps towards your goals with internet
marketing by teaching you all the nuts
and bolts stuff that everyone else is
hiding behind paywalls
what happens my content gets consumed it
gets shared people click the subscribe
button more often because I'm not always
pitching you things so I make it safe

like you're sharing a promotional
affiliate based video does that make

perspective between the food network
approach and the Home Shopping Network

content marketing and you're putting out
a video and the first two minutes of the
video talks about the idea and then
you'd quickly transition to try to pitch
an affiliate product an opt-in or
somewhere else they have to go some
other action they have to take in order
to get where they truly clicked on that
video for you're going about it all
wrong and you are going to fail when you
put out the content that truly helps
people accomplish the goals accomplished
their fears solve their problems and get
closer to their goals you become the
trusted advisor once you're the trusted
advisor when you recommend a product
people will take action because you've
built the trust first and you do so
through educational and info Taney
content that's the real kicker here this
the day and age we live in and you need
to make sure your marketing represents
that and is in alignment with that or
else you're flat-out going to fail now
it takes a fair bit of hard work right I
guarantee Rachael Ray put in decades of
hard work before she was ever discovered
by the Food Network channel and even
when she got discovered by them she
probably put in several years of work
building an audience having her show
played at odd hours not getting those
prime peak times why she was harnessing
her craft she was getting comfortable on
camera her personality her story her
brand story was coming through now we
see it as a cloud that girl came on the
scene like boom right overnight success
I guarantee you there were decades of
hard work that led up to that point and
that's what a lot of people find with my
content right I just started publishing
videos in August of 2016
I've got 50,000 plus subscribers now and
growing relatively quickly but I've been
doing this internet marketing stuff too
since the late since the late 1990s I
made my first money online in 2003
that's over 15 years of making money
online I've been full time as an
internet marketer since 2010 I was full
time as an internet marketer for six
years in the trenches day-in day-out 60
70 80 hour weeks doing all the nuts and
bolts work for seven years before six
and a half years before ever putting out
content as here's how to do what you do
so you might have just met the Miles
bechler who kind of popped onto the
scene here on YouTube with 20 30 40
thousand subscribers over this last year
but what you didn't see is all those
years of me mastering my craft and then
learning how to communicate effectively
and then spending time putting these 350
plus videos together for you know
pitches at the end no calls to action at
the end I'm not here to sell you
something I truly am here to give value
to you and I ask you to ask yourself
what do you think about the brand of

up what do you feel when you see them
pop up on your feet how does that make
you feel do you feel like here comes
another pitch like oh I know there's
gonna be something in it is or you like
wow I'm about to learn something today
I'm gonna get something good cuz I know
miles drops knowledge bombs right and
you need to make sure that you
audience has a similar positive feeling
that's on brand for you right you don't
do this this is what I do this is me
doing me you do you but you need to do
it in a way that's educating informing
entertaining that infotainment approach
to putting out your content marketing
your videos your blog posts your
podcasts your emails that you send every
day yes there's a time and a place to
make an offer there's a time and a place
to recommend a specific service or a
product or a software as an affiliate
but that is not in every single video
that is after you've built the trust
after you've taught them what to do and
how to do it and then when it's
imperative for them to obtain that
specific tool or that specific thing
whether you teach backyard gardening and
how to do vertical tomato gardening
there comes a point in time when you
need to recommend seeds and specific
vertical hanging pots and maybe a
watering pail that's not the first video
that's not the first thing they're gonna
get from you you need to teach them the
process first help them get going first
and then you teach them here's what the
pros use and when you built that trust
they're like whoo that's what the pros
use I really need that watering pail if
that's what a professional vertical
tomato gardener uses right if that's
your niche that's your bit they'll click
through and they'll buy but that only
happens after you've given value you've
helped them you've helped educate them
and you've built that relationship first
you get this right you will find success
takes a lot of work to put out those
videos but once you build it they're all
assets you will build momentum through
your content marketing and you will be
amazed at the results that you get you
can get a lifetime worth of results from
a few years of effort that's exactly
what I've done again here that's what my
wife and I have already done two times
before this this is brand number three
we're following that same process you

helpful content send helpful emails be
entertaining be informative and you will
be amazed at what happens when you take
