this video is the official 90-day
content marketing challenge video I'm
gonna explain to you what it is how to
do it and give you a couple of examples
of how this works and why it is so
powerful now I'm in Bali right now I'm
coming off of my speaking engagement at
skill share event that was fantastic
after that we had what they called a
work keishon where 20 presenters and 20
attendees got together at a resort and
we really went deep on each other's
business and one thing that kept coming
up was people impressed by the kind of
audience that I've been able to grow
here on YouTube
one year ago literally to the date I had
approximately 75 or so subscribers here
on YouTube and as of this recording I'm
now over thirty-five thousand
subscribers and although my presentation
was on Facebook advertisement there was
a lot of talk about growing an audience
the power of growing an email list and
everyone wanted to know what was the
trick so I told them it starts with my
90 day challenge now this channel I
kicked off by publishing 90 videos in 90
consecutive days and I had so much
momentum going I decided to do 120 I
over achieved I'm a bit of an
overachiever and I did 120 videos in 120
days but that's not the first time that
we actually we being my wife and I
actually used this methodology when we
were first starting her website her
WordPress based website we kicked that
off with a 90 day challenge where she
created one great piece of content
written content every day for 90 days
now you don't have to create the content
every day you can batch it if you want
to do two or three videos or two or
three blog posts in one day it's all
about publishing everyday consecutively
for 90 days now like I'm saying here my
wife decided to write she's a blogger
she's much more of a writer she's enjoys
writing not that she's not great on
video it just takes a little bit more
time and energy for her to create video
whereas me I'm not much of a writer I
don't enjoy the process of writing and
I'm not very often happy with what I
create through the written word whereas
you turn a video camera on me or put a
microphone on me and I'm all kinds of
excited I'm relatively coherent and
clear and concise with the spoken word
so the first big trick for you to kind
of focus in on is what is the medium
that you're going to focus on then the
goal is publish one item per day every
day for 90 days this is going to do a
few things for you in your business
number one it will immediately get you
into content creation mode one of the
biggest challenges that most people have
growing a business online is the fact
that they stay in consuming content mode
they read more they're like I need to
know how this all fits they're trying to
understand how every single piece of the
puzzle fits before engaging with the
process and the kind of joke in that
it's not really a joke but the kind of
like irony in that probably better way
putting it is that you really can't see
how all the pieces fit until you get
started because pieces that you
encounter weeks and months down the line
don't make sense until you've gained
enough experience kind of and you've
taken enough steps if you imagine
driving a car from one side of the u.s.
to the other let's say LA to New York
you don't need to know every single turn
you don't need to know every single
direction you're gonna take all you need
to know is how to get started what turn
to make on that first Street then what
turn to make next what highway to get on
and then you're cruising so we need to
get you into that point and that's one
of the things that the 90 day content
marketing challenge does it gets you it
turns you into a content creator so just
like going to the gym first day it's
tough second day it's still tough you're
a little sore third day still tough but
if you stick with that gym routine for
long enough you're gonna build muscles
it's gonna get easier and then here's
the kicker it starts to become fun and
when it starts to become fun and you get
excited by putting out content on a
regular basis and you're seeing the
growth and you're seeing the comments
and you realize you're being of service
and you're building an audience then you
get to realize that the whole game is
not about you it's about being of
service to your audience and when you
come from that
point of being of service to your
audience magical things can happen and
that's part number two number three what
happens is you really have the
opportunity to leverage the power of the
algorithms of the search engines so if
you're using written word that search
engine that you're gonna leverage the
power of is Google if you're using video
content the power or the search engine
that you're leveraging is here on
YouTube if you do podcasts right no
video just the audio the engine that
you're leveraging is iTunes is the big
search engine for podcast but what
happens is these search engines write
YouTube YouTube always wants to deliver
valuable content to its users and the
one way that YouTube makes money well
there's two ways number one is
advertising right they sell advertising
so the more videos people watching the
more time people come back to watch your
videos the more money YouTube can make
they want to partner with you on this
and number two is YouTube red where you
pay to where you don't see
advertisements and this is for you know
people who use YouTube all the time and
if they keep coming back for your videos
and they watch your videos ad free day
in and day out you again are a content
partner with YouTube and YouTube is
going to deliver your videos more often
as long as you get good numbers same
thing with Google right Google earns
income by displaying advertisements on
search engine results page if you create
great content that gives Google's users
a positive user experience after they
search for a keyword phrase like how to
do a 90 day video challenge if someone
finds my blogpost on that which I don't
have yet but I will but if they find my
blog post and they read it and they like
it and they come back to my site
regularly Google notices that and Google
will begin to prioritize my content if I
put out good content that gets users to
engage that gets a good time on site and
they gets users to come back for more
they're monitoring what happens within
our content so it has to be great
content you got to put out the best
content you can but know your first
video is gonna be a little rough if you
want to see what my first video was just
sort my videos on my channel by the
oldest go look at my oldest video give
it a watch it's a little humbling for me
to watch that video today but now as you
can tell here I've
I've traveled across the world I've been
speaking for days on end and I'm
relatively competent comfortable I've
got a nice little setup to get a great
shot here behind me and I'm really happy
and confident and comfortable to share
this kind of content with you and that's
ultimately my goal now that I'm over a
year in so the real trick to this is
multifold right you're not just going to
do this for growing an audience that
will be a byproduct of it but you're
gonna become a content creator which is
absolutely key you have to build an
audience in order to build a business
online and then you have to focus and be
of service to that audience that's what
I've proven is possible here I knew this
was gonna work because we had already
done it once with my whites business and
that's why all this content I create
instead of just showing you oh look my
wife's site gets 800,000 visits a month
and making it seem like we're so far
advanced I started this channel with
zero just over a year ago to prove
undoubtably that anyone can start at
zero and teach what they know teach what
they're good at step by step by step
poco poco poco like my friends in Mexico
would say little by little by little you
begin to build that Authority you build
channel Authority your videos start to
rank you build an audience you get
comfortable with the process before you
know it you're a competent and
comfortable and excited content marketer
you get an email as growing and that is
how you build a business online so if

at the closing talk in front of 40
people she said you know what I'm gonna
do a Content Marketing challenge I'm
gonna do a video challenge and people
asked her when are you going to do this
she said I'm gonna start next
week two additional people in the
audience said no no no no you got to do
it today and then they challenged her if
you start today right now just grab your
cell phone and go cut video number one
here to other people decided they were
going to do a 90 day challenge also by
the end of that kind of excitement and
rumbling I believe five people from this
work Asian are all going to do 90 day
challenges so throw your hat over the
fence get a little leverage on yourself
shout it out to the world in the
comments if you're gonna do a 90 day
challenge and then stick with it it's
going to be challenging it's going to be
tough but know that you can get through
this and remember very few people are
gonna watch your early videos you're
just getting to the gym that first time
nobody's watching you lift weights but
you have to get there and lift some
weights if you want to build some
muscles and I assure you that this will
truly build a successful long-term
platform if you stick with that 90-day
kind of challenge and you get 90 pieces
of content published in 19 sec you t'v
days and then from there you have a few
options as to which way you can go but
continuing to be of service of the
audience that you've created is
ultimately the key to everything I hope
