🔥 Video Editing Tutorial For Beginners Youtube/ How To Edit Youtube Videos Step by Step!

if you're starting your YouTube channel
and you don't want to get bogged down
with all the editing like all the cuts
and edits and all the things that you
have to do I'm gonna show you the basic
steps so that you can get your videos up
loaded onto YouTube as soon as possible
because it's all about making incredible
valuable content and unfortunately
editing part of it can take up a lot of
time so I'm gonna give you some basics
so you can get going right away then as
you learn more editing skills and you
can spend a little bit more time
refining your craft this is gonna allow
you to get more content out there focus
on the actual content itself and grow
your channel hopefully a little bit
faster so let's jump into my computer
and I'm gonna show you some basic skills
and basic things that you can do to get
your video uploaded as soon as possible
onto YouTube alright guys here we are my
computer a software that I use is
TechSmith Camtasia and the reason I use
that is because it's really easy to use
and it's got a lot of features that are
really really easy for beginners and
also has a lot of advanced features for
those who aren't beginners so that you
can see how powerful this tool is you
can really start playing around with
some of the stuff you can do adding
effects all kinds of stuff but this is
for the basic stuff today okay so we're
gonna go ahead and open up a new project
right here alright now I have no video
here I can import eirick I shot a video
just a kind of a sample video I'm gonna
import it I can click here import video
and I already know it's on my desktop
let's find that video it's this one
right here and it is now imported into
the media bin of Camtasia now how do I
get it on the screen and down here in
the work bar area I can either drag and
drop it which I'll show you that right
now
there it is drag and drop I want to put
it back though or I can right click the
video itself and add to Timeline at
playhead which is gonna be here's your
playhead right here this is the playhead
right here so if I want to add it to
timeline it play it automatically will
take it to there boom there it is okay
so the first thing I want to show you is
how to cut because you're going to be
doing a lot of editing a lot of
cutting especially if you make lots of
mistakes like I do you know so you'll be
using that cutting tool quite a bit so
there's a couple ways to do that I'm
gonna show you I'm gonna expand this a
little bit I'm gonna make this a little
bit larger right here by doing this okay
so you kind of see that a little bit
better okay
in fact I'll bring that up a little bit
as well okay all right so you see these
little waves right here that's your
audio so you can kind of get aligned of
guide you to where there are lapses and
audio like for instance the very
beginning right here so I'm gonna go
ahead and hit play so you see where the
audio stopped a ride around here and you
can actually if you follow along look at
look at my mouth I'm about to say
something there you can kind of move
this bar as much as you want okay so
anyway there's two ways you can cut this
video I want to get rid of this dead
space right here all this right here I
want to get rid of right here I can hit
pause here okay I can actually move it
back a little bit
this goes frame by frame right before I
start talking now I can highlight the
bar see right now it's not highlighted
it is now I can highlight the bar and if
I highlight the bar there is this cut
sliced tool right here splits right here
you click on that it just split this
whole thing in twos you can see that
right here okay I want to get rid of
this all I have to do is right-click it
and I'm gonna go ahead and hit ripple
delete the reason I want to hit ripple
delete if I just hit the delete button
this is gonna go away but this bar is
gonna stay where it's at I want this bar
to slide over to the left to take up the
space that empty space after this is
deleted that's why you hit ripple delete
so I'm gonna right-click I'm gonna hit
ripple delete and you see how the bar
slid right over now if I go to the very
beginning I eliminated the dead space
already really cool really easy to do
okay that's one of the steps you want to
take in cutting your video if you make a
mistake do you see this little curved
onion it's called undo
it's like curved
arrow you hit that so basically it
undoes the last step right I need to do
undo two steps I'll hit that again and
look my the first part of my video came
back the part I deleted okay I want to
hit undo again now the video is back to
its original state before I cut anything
out really cool real easy to do the
reason I did that is because I want to
show you a second way to cut okay so I
kind of know where I want to go I'm hit
the backspace a little bit now before I
hit this and I hit the slice button okay
or split button now I can do this I can
actually drag this bar this see this
green bar here if I drag to the left
wherever is I have it sitting it's going
to highlight this area I can also drag
this red bar to the right and it'll
highlight whatever area I stopped at but
let's go to the left here I'm gonna
click on the green bar and I'm going to
drag it all the way to the end and now I
can just hit the scissors button right
here and boom that area is gone again
that's just two different ways of doing
the same exact thing again I don't want
to overwhelm you with all these think
things that can do but this is the basic
stuff cutting and and slicing your video
because you're gonna be doing a lot of
that okay so we've gotten rid of that
okay so now I'm going to show you how to
do a transition so if you do make if
we'd make a cut let's go let's go find a
spot
I'm gonna pause it right there and I'm
going to make a cut right here like I'm
gonna I'm gonna split it like I did here
I highlighted the bar and I'm gonna hit
this split button now I've got two
pieces here okay so I am going to add a
transition between one piece to the
second piece okay and let me show you
what I'm talking about now what's nice
about Camtasia is all of this stuff is
built into the software all of the
transitions all of the lower thirds all
of those things are built into the
software I am gonna leave a link down
below if you guys want to check out
Camtasia I am NOT an affiliate for
Camtasia or for TechSmith but I'm just
gonna leave you a link to their website
you can just click on it and go right to
it and you can kind of learn a little
bit more about the product and see if is
a good fit for you okay so the
transition I'm gonna add up remember I
made this split here I'm gonna click on
transition see look at this via
highlight if you just kind of hover over
the transition it'll show you exactly
what it does like this is a fade to
black I use this quite a bit okay here's
a circle stretch here look at this
that's kind of cool here's a flip you
see how let's see how it shows you so
let's try this flip right here all I'm
gonna do is I'm gonna click on this I'm
gonna drag it and it'll highlight the
areas the only areas you could put it at
you can put it over here at the
beginning you can put it in here you can
put it at the end right now okay so I'm
gonna drop it right here cuz remember
I'm gonna transition between these two
frames area here okay so let's play that
see what that did kind of cool right
really really neat pretty neat so it's
nice to have you have many to choose
from by the way look at that all these
right here or at your fingertips you
know so it's nice about these
transitions that you know typically it's
you know human nature we have short
attention span so anytime you're gonna
add something like this that grabs
people's attention this really helps in
keeping them engaged and watching a
video longer because remember watch time
is super important when you create a
YouTube channel and you're putting
content out okay so that was a
transition let's move on to the next tip
okay so if you're doing like content
creation for like YouTube obviously
Facebook whatever it is it's really
really important to have what they call
a lower third and lower third is simply
basically your information coming across
the screen here you know your name maybe
your website address your YouTube
channel address that type of thing so
what's nice about Camtasia once again
it's built in it's great for branding
using the lower third you get the
library right here okay it automatically
defaults to Camtasia these are the
default items within the Camtasia
library and you can see I haven't lower
thirds I'm just gonna double click it
okay now what's nice about this is if
you click this it'll give you an example
of what it does see that that's a lower
third you and you Basin I'm gonna show
you how to put your name in there and
change colors and things like that okay
here's here's another example kind of
neat right okay
so let's use this first one I kind of
like this and all you have to do is drag
this over into the screen okay and you
remember you can position this wherever
you want I'm gonna give you I'm gonna
show you exactly how to do this
so we're gonna move this around okay to
where we like it to where it links sense
so I think that's kind of a good spot so
we can kind of look at it let's watch
that okay so I like the way this comes
out however what I don't like is the
color and see how it disappears there
because of the background and everything
else you see out here you can hardly see
it so I'm gonna change some things you
can just click on this to come over here
to properties okay and you can see you
can change first whatever you change
your name just put our name or my name
and then your subtitle can be your
position which should be probably your
website address your your YouTube
channel link that type of thing so I'm
gonna put Vic's Affiliate okay now as
you can see that's going to that's
changed already now I can't see this the
lettering something so I'm gonna come
over here and I'm gonna hit right next
to the title I'm gonna hit this in this
little drop-down and this is gonna show
me the color and the font that this is
at you can change the font you can
change the you know the size of it see
that drop it down bring it up but I'm
gonna I'm focusing on the color here I
don't want that color there but let's
change it to let's see look and you see
how you can scroll through this bar and
then adjust it here as well and it'll
kind of see that kind of stands out I
like that now let's go to the VIX
affiliate team we're gonna keep that
right there so now we go to Vicks
affiliate team we hit this drop down and
it's white now it is the same font I can
change the font here this is bold this
is not that's all cool let's change that
color to something else that really
stands out okay so let's go here you can
see that look see how it's changing this
is just for example okay we're just
gonna keep that okay so you just click
off of it and let's check it out as it
rolls in pretty cool huh
so that's your lower thirds that's how
you do that in Camtasia I mean I
probably would have selected maybe
another one that has maybe a background
on it that would like this one maybe
that will kind of stand out because of
the background that I have right here
okay but I just wanted to show you one
for an example you can see there are
several to choose from
okay so the next step up next tip I'm
going to show you is you know the
graphics and the lower thirds those are
very important but what's nice about
keeping people's attention is changing
the view of the camera you can do that
within Camtasia even if you're just
using one camera and I'm going to show
you exactly how to do that so what we're
gonna do is gonna find a spot that we're
gonna cut so we're gonna go ahead and
cut that right here okay and I'm gonna
show you exactly what we're doing here
okay so I'm going to hit the bar again
we're gonna slice that right here like
we showed you earlier now you've got if
I just slid this across there doesn't
look like anything's happen however okay
if I click on this this bar here is you
can see the scale is at a hundred
percent but if I scroll over here scales
at one hundred percent I can change this
let's say to one hundred and thirty
percent so let's go ahead and change
this to 130 okay i'm gonna hit 130 boom
you see how I zoomed in now check this
out okay so when you when you start when
you hit play so you see how it's zoomed
in now I need to make another cut here
so that I can go back to the normal zoom
length does that make sense
so I'm going to this is where I want to
go back I want to push the camera back
again so I was back here I was on your
standard I was at hundred four hundred
percent here
and I'm at 130 here and I want to cut it
right here again so we're gonna hit
slice okay now it's gonna stay zoomed in
until I change it right here so I'm
gonna click on that and I'm gonna change
this back to a hundred percent all right
so now I've got I've got a hundred
percent right here on this bar I got a
hundred and thirty here and I've got a
hundred here
all right let's click on that let's
let's hit that play button see that okay
so that basically zoomed in and out
automatically within the system see how
easy that was
so I you gotta do is find the spaces you
want to cut you cut you do the zoom
right here and then you find it where
you find a spot where you want to go
back to your regular zoom you cut it
again and it goes right but you just
adjust it right here on scale really
really easy to do kind of neat - all
right so the next thing I'm gonna show
you is how to add graphics I use
graphics quite a bit when I'm editing my
videos so basically again they're all in
here okay so here's what here's where
you go you're gonna go to annotations
right here okay and they have basic
annotations if you hit this drop-down
and there's several things you can do
here again there's so many things that
Camtasia can do I'm not gonna get into
it right now I'm gonna give you the
basic stuff like I said I hit all okay
look at all of these that you have to
choose from okay so let's say you're
doing an instructional video or you give
them a call to action okay you want to
put some graphics in here to remind them
to do something so you can actually take
this right here and just drag it right
over here into the box okay and then I'm
and then you can just start typing
subscribe I use capital letters
subscribe
today okay that's your call to action
here's what's nice about this I can move
this around okay I can change the colors
I can change the font again I'm gonna
click on this okay that's highlighted I
come over here I've got Mont Montserrat
is the default font but if I hit the dab
the drop down I've got all of these
options here I'm gonna hit Arial black
see how I change that here's the other
thing to size see that you can scale it
and scale the size of the text you can
move this stuff around okay I can
stretch it I can squeeze it I can you
know make it one line stretch it back up
bring it up to the top bring it down to
the bottom okay I mean there's so many
things you can do okay now let's look at
the background color I thought the color
in the background now you click it over
here so you click this button here and
you see how it's the background is white
I can change that up too I get to change
up the background a little bit let's go
with red might be too red let's go with
blue Blues more a little bit friendlier
I think okay now we have to change that
font color also so we're gonna click on
that again and we're gonna go back to
the font and you can see it's this color
that's the fun I need to change that up
maybe I'll make that yellow or green or
something is to kind of stand just for
this example see that subscribe today
and again I can move it around I can
scale it down a little bit it might be a
little too too big I don't know it's all
about just playing around with this
stuff and getting just to know it
getting some you can you can tilt it
okay really really neat things you can
do with it okay now if I just leave it
alone it's just gonna appear and
disappear watch I'm gonna show you
exactly what I'm talking about let's
move it let's move it this way okay
see how it just appeared disappeared now
I can add a behavior to this which is
really I do that a lot with my videos
let's click on behaviors over here on
the bar okay if I want it to drift in
phone it's a fade pop up if you will
reveal pulsating you can have it explode
fly-in let's try fly-in let's let's all
I have to do is drag it and either drop
it in here or drop it in here okay I'm
gonna drop it right in there
alright now let's look at it see how it
just flew in its gonna fly out now okay
and this is a little more advanced but I
can change the pattern of how it flies
in what happens during what happens when
it leaves I can change that I can make
it go ease in ease out spring here let's
hit Springs to kind of give you an idea
of what it can do see that I don't know
why I picked that but there's so many
things you can do but these are the
basics again guys this is what you want
to learn when you're editing your videos
just get to the basics editing the
call-to-actions
you know the graphics the lower thirds
those are all the basic important things
you have to know and have to do when
you're editing your video okay and and
of course the transitions that kind of
adds to the appeal of the video now a
couple of other things I want to show
you you want to be able to adjust the
audio also because you want some even
audio you've got some stuff in here
that'll eliminate background noise and
just kind of level out your audio
because not not all microphones can buff
out all but let's say you have a ceiling
fan going on you got traffic going by
whatever okay so you go to you go to
audio effects right here okay and
basically what I like what I like to do
is do nose removal right here and I just
drop it and it just drops it in - you
have to drop it in to every one of them
now if I highlighted all every one of
these right here which I will do that
and I want to show you
I'm talking about basically you just
highlight and you hold down your Shift
button and now I've got everything
highlighted and then I bring in the
noise removal here it's gonna jump into
every one of those bars or see that
they're all highlighted green now
they're blue green that means they're in
everything and just drop it in and
that's it so basically it's going to
eliminate any background noise that you
have so it's probably just a good idea
to keep it as clean as possible so the
last thing I wanted to show you is the
visual effect okay if you click on that
and the only thing I've ever messed with
and look at how many things you can do
here okay but the only thing I've ever
messed with is the color adjustment so
I'm gonna show you again how you can do
that now I'm gonna again highlight every
one of these okay and I'm gonna bring
this color adjustment down and we're
gonna pop that into everything right
here okay now you notice it looks black
and white well don't worry don't get too
freaked out remember you can always undo
anything that you just did by hitting
this button right here see that I just
undid it okay so I'm gonna I'm gonna
redo it and I'm gonna drag this down so
it's gonna allow you to adjust the
brightness a little bit see that the
contrast and of course the saturation
okay I usually start with saturation
lights get some color in there and then
bring in the contrast down and then
start messing with the saturation and
then of course too much brightness I
look like I have a looks like it's been
sitting out in the Sun way too long that
too much saturation go on there yes I
know
okay you just gotta mess with it just a
little bit until you get to the color
combination that you're happy with okay
you know you don't want too much
saturation you know that's way too much
obviously and again you can undo
anything can kind of mess with it adjust
it but it'll be consistent throughout
the video okay so there you have it guys
some simple basic tips on how to edit
your videos using Camtasia and if you're
a beginner these are really all the
things you need just to get started
because there are a lot of other things
you can do a lot of other effects I'm
sure you've seen on other people's
videos a lot of people professionals
doing that for them but you can have a
professional-looking video with just
these basic tips and basic things that
you can do to just enhance the great
