3 BIG Kindle Publishing Mistakes

hey everyone this is stefan from
projectlifemastery.com and in this video
i'm going to share with you three common
Kindle publishing mistakes now these are
mistakes that I have seen literally
happen time and time again you know over
the last few years now I've worked with
hundreds of publishers through my K
money mastery program and I'd be able to
see the difference between success and
failure you know what makes someone
succeed and make a lot of money from
their books versus someone that
struggles fails and gives up and so the
first mistake that I've seen a lot of
publishers make is publishing a book in
the wrong niche or market meaning they
haven't done the proper market research
before they created the book and publish
the book the mistake is a lot of people
think and they guess and they speculate
for what's going to sell on Amazon and
on Kindle just because you have a great
idea and you think that everybody would
love this book and you know that you
believe there's going to be a great
market there and you know you're going
to make a lot of money from it that
doesn't mean that people are actually
searching for it and there's a high
enough demand on Amazon and Kindle for
that book and just because there's a
demand for something maybe on Google or
just in society in general it doesn't
mean that it's a market and something
that's in high demand on Amazon and
Kindle and so that's why you have to do
the proper research I've seen time and
time again you know publishers they they
don't want to do the right research they
just you know are blindly guessing and
just they have this stubborn belief that
their book is going to make them a lot
of money and that's always the wrong way
of going about it you know just because
you might have a great idea you hat you
can't be too attached to that idea you
have to be willing to put it aside and
and see if there's other options and
other opportunities that are available
and so part of what I teach and what I
believe is that you have to do the
market research first you can go to
Amazon you can go to the Kindle Store
and you can literally see which books
are selling which topics which genres
which categories you know which keywords
and topics are people the most
interested in and you know Amazon is
great for showing you all that data
because they show you the Amazon
bestseller ranking to show you the
rankings of books and top categories and
so you can see what's selling and if you
find
a market or niche that's trending that's
hot that's profitable that's high in
demand then all you have to do then is
create a book or a product and sell that
in the mark in that market and just do a
really good job and marketing and
promoting that book and then you two can
have success in that market it's really
as simple as that it's identifying first
and foremost where's the demand where is
the need what are people looking for and
you have to understand that Amazon is a
search engine just like Google is you
know in fact Amazon is the number-one
paid search engine in the world
meaning when people go to Amazon they're
there to buy stuff people go to Google
or YouTube they're looking for free
information so in typical amazon they've
already got their credit card they're
there to buy stuff so you can identify
it and find out exactly what people are
searching for and I have a whole method
for this but you find out what people
are searching for and then you say okay
here's the competition of that market
here's the the the probability of
success that I have by analyzing and
making sure that there's several books
that are selling and they were
profitable and then that basically is
helping you to guarantee your success
when I publish a book it's always
successful now because I've just over
the years I've had failures and it has
successes and I've identified what works
and as you gain more of that experience
you're able to easily see before you
even publish the book before you even
mark it or sell it or even create it you
already know in advance that you're
going to be successful at it because you
did all the right research so spending
that extra bit of time researching the
market the niche preparing for your book
launch having some ideas and strategies
to launch the book you know there's a
whole concept of having a business plan
a business plan is something that allows
you to prepare when you start your
business so that you don't just go into
it blindly and you need to have a plan
for every book that you publish and make
sure it's in the right market and you
already have some ideas of how you can
promote and sell that book so that's the
first most important mistake that people
make because you know you could have the
best book in the world the best cover
and do everything else right but if you
haven't selected the right niche or
market or key word then nothing else
matters you know so it's all about
publishing in a hot market niche
or something that's in high demand and a
lot of people I think worry a little bit
too much about competition you shouldn't
worry too much about competition of
course the less competition there is in
a market the easier OB for you but don't
be afraid to put in work don't be afraid
to take massive action to promote your
book over a long period of time a lot of
people just want to get rich quick and
they don't have patience so you have to
understand this is a long term process
some people publish a book and make a
lot of money right away other people it
takes time you know business you're
building a business business takes time
so be patient with that and don't be
afraid to go after the more competitive
niches and markets rather have
confidence in yourself that you can
succeed in any market that is profitable
okay second common mistake is publishers
do the bare minimum and I've seen this
happen time and time again you know
people publish a book and maybe they
pick the right niche in market but they
do the bare minimum when it comes to
promoting and marketing that book they
do the bare minimum
when it comes to the creativity of the
book title the book cover you know
getting Amazon reviews for the book you
know you do a bare minimum of anything
and just half-ass it you can't really
expect great results in doing that if
you do what everyone else does in that
market you can expect to get what
everyone else is getting or worse you
know you have to understand that every
market on Amazon every market in any
business is going to be relatively
competitive and if it's not yet it will
be over a period of time because if it's
a great you know market or opportunity
there will be competition that discovers
it and ends up competing with you and so
I've seen publishers they publish a book
they make some money from the book but
they just did the bare minimum and they
just you know did the minimum they just
left it and they went on to something
else and then meanwhile over the months
and over the years there's other books
that you know are coming around in that
market to knock off that book you know
your book and they're competing with you
now and because you're not putting any
energy or focus on it they end up you
know a ranking you on Amazon and taking
away your market share so this could be
solved just by going above and beyond
always have that mentality do more than
everyone else always be aggressive
marketing promoting your book don't
just see that you know the competitors
have 50 reviews so you're going to get
50 reviews and that's that's good enough
it's not good enough you have to do more
you want it you know if you want a
long-term sustainable passive income
stream you have to be willing to do more
you have to be willing to promote
promote that book build systems
continuously market and promote that
book and if you do that in the right
niche and market you can make literally
thousands of dollars from one book and
I've seen it happen time and time again
you don't need to have a zillion books
that are published all you need is a few
books that make you a lot of money and
you just did a really great job with
those books and you did a great job with
the quality of the book you're improving
the book over a period of time you're
always marketing promoting it you've got
some great systems in place that's what
separates someone that's successful
versus someone that fails and successful
over the long term because you don't
just want to have short term success
again you want long-term sustainable
success success okay so you've got to
treat it as a business you have to you
know make sure that you're putting in
the effort the energy the time the money
whatever it is to continuously promote
that book and continuously make it
better and better so that you can really
succeed with that book over the long
term and the third most common mistake
the publishers make is that they give up
and of course you're not going to have
success with anything if you give up you
have to understand that in business
there are going to be failures there are
going to be challenges there are going
to be obstacles and things that show up
and I understand if it's our very first
time having a business you might not be
used to that you may not be used to the
adversity the ups and downs you know the
things that can occur that are outside
of your control in a business but the
reality is is that failure is part of
the process I don't know anyone out
there that is that is successful that
hasn't failed okay the most successful
people throughout history have all
failed time and time again and what you
have to understand is that failure is a
good thing there's really no failure
there's only feedback by going through
failure it provides the feedback the
lessons to help you improve and get
better I can't tell you how many times
I've failed time and time again with
Kindle publishing a published books and
market markets that I thought were going
to sell but didn't sell I tried
different things like
fermented and things didn't work out and
that's what's allowed me to become a
successful kindle publisher and a
successful business person today is I'm
not afraid to fail I embrace failure and
you have to have that mentality don't be
afraid to lose a little bit of money
here and there to try you know Facebook
ads or advertising this way or
publishing a book in this market because
that's the only way that you really
learn and when you go through failure
and you know you have pain and it's
frustrating it's challenging it
depressed over it those are the best
lessons because there's so much emotion
associated to it you learn those lessons
the most because they mean more to you
and so those are very valuable things to
go throughout your process through your
journey and as long as you just don't
give up and you keep at it you keep
working away you know and you know one
book doesn't work out you publish
another book and you learn from that
first book then you will be successful
at this over the long term and again I
want to re-emphasize that this is a
long-term process business is long-term
don't just go at something they try to
get rich quick or make money in the
short term I've seen that happen amongst
people they make some money and then you
know they start making money and then
just give up as well and you know again
you can't be successful over the long
term thinking that way you have to take
a slow steady build up a foundation for
your business make it sustainable over
the long term and if you can do that
then you can have a passive income
stream that can last for who knows how
long however long Amazon and Kindle goes
around so I think these three core
strategies really reminding yourself of
them and just making sure you don't fall
into those pitfalls can really help you
make sure that you don't go through the
same failures that other people do and
that you can be successful with Kindle
