Creating Your Customer Avatar Part 1 of 3


Hey smiles bechler here again and in
this video we're going to talk about
creating your customer avatar now if
you've been following the video series
up to this point we just finished the
niche selection process so at this point
you know what niche you're going to be
going into to build your platform and to
build your online business the next step
in the process is to understand who
you're talking to who your specific
audience is and the idea for this is
what I call or what I've learned as
creating your customer avatar now in all
of your content that you're going to be
putting out whether it's an
advertisement and email a blog post or a
video you're talking to one person right
now it's just me and you I'm speaking
with you directly even though there
might be other people who watch this
video at other times but it's my
intention to hold a one-on-one
conversation with you so you really feel
the impact of my words now I'm able to
do this because I've gone through the
process of creating my customer avatar
now what's a customer avatar it's kind
of like a an idea or a conceptual idea
of the perfect person who's looking for
my message right it's more than just
demographics but demographics are
included so male or female are they in
their 20s their 30s their 40s their 50s
are where where are they in their life
how much money do they earn are they
earning 20,000 or $30,000 a year or are
they earning $100,000 per year so these
are the kinds of demographics that we
choose when we create our customer
avatar beyond the demographics it's good
to look into the psychographics
of the individual so what stage are
these people at in their life as you're
speaking to them right so let's use golf
as an example let's say you chose a sub
niche within golf that you're going to
be going after maybe it's lessening your
slice or eliminating your hook so off
the top of my head with no data and just
so you know we're going to get into data
next I'll show you some next some tools
on the next video that you can use to
get real actual data from other websites
and from other publishing companies
about very specifics about who these
people are and we'll go into that in the
next video but right now let's kind of
stay at the overview level so definitely
men and women both golf but I would I
would assume based on my personal
experiences and what I've seen when I
did golf it's probably going to be more
male-dominated and I'm also going to
guess that it's going to be men who are
in their 50s 60s and 70s are the ones
who are really really working to improve
their game and they're the ones who are
working to eliminate these challenges
such as a slice or a hook off of the tee
now these men probably also earn in
excess of $80,000 per year
wouldn't surprise me if that number was
closer to 125,000 or 150 thousand
dollars per year they're probably
homeowners and as you start to
understand this picture of who this
person is when you're speaking to them
and when you're creating videos for them
you you get to kind of speak to where
they are and what their goals are and
you get to understand why they're
playing the game and who who they're out
playing with and when you create your
copy it's important to speak to that
person now I literally have on my hard
drive on my computer actual files that
I've saved they're the word doc files
and I turn them into PDFs from time to
time but they're always evolving and
it's got a picture of someone I
literally I go to Google Images and I
find the picture of the person so I
really have a feel of I know who I'm
talking about it says their age whether
they have kids or not what they do for a
living I mean one of mine meditation
niches we even gave her name her name is
Kimberly she's in her 50s and she's got
two kids and her kids are approaching
the age of leaving the house so she's
about to be empty nested and she's a
nurse she works in the nursing and I get
all of these details out so that when I
write content or when I create ads I'm
literally I'm speaking to Kimberly now
there is no actual Kimberly per se the
way I've created her but what it does is
it allows me to speak to one person I
understand her fears her needs her wants
her desires and I speak to that and
there's lots of them there's millions
millions of people like Kimberly in our
world nurses in their 50s there's a wage
range there kids are getting older they
either recently empty nested or they're
about to empty nest and they're their
worlds changing
they've got more free time on their
hands they're they're wondering they're
questioning things a little bit more
because that external source of love
their kids are no longer in the house
anymore so they're now in a house with
more silence and quiet and they start
thinking like what's it all about and
this is when they get curious about
meditation so this is how I approach
that I understand their story I'm able
to communicate to them in regards to
their story and about how my products
and my free offers will help them kind
of overcome some of the challenges that
they're experiencing right now so they
can tune in to love that's found within
themselves now I really kind of have
glazed over this in a sense but the
ultimate goal for you to understand at
this point in this video is you need to
get really specific about who you are
talking about so look at your niche and
go from start from this niche that
you've chosen understand who is it that
has this problem or has this desire that
you're going to help them achieve or
solve and really start to paint the
picture of who this person is now your
document might start out with a ideas
you might not have data at this point
and that's fine we're going to do that
in the next video but it's also going to
evolve as you test new ads as you write
new coffee as you start to see
subscribers coming up and you find them
on Facebook and you look at their
Facebook profile and as you gain data
from some of these tools we're going to
cover in the next video you're going to
refine this so your customer avatar
document might start out with two or
three sentences it might be Joe he's 58
years old he's hoping to retire soon
he's an executive his corporation he
makes $150,000 per year he lives in the
wealthy neighborhood outside of Dallas
Texas and he golf's six times per month
and he's golfing with other business
executives and a lot of the deals he's
putting together in his work are
actually coming from relationships he's
four
verging on the links and he feels that
his sloppy T approach is holding him
back in really connecting with some of
these higher level executives and other
companies and he wants to step his game
up so he can shoot in the 80s instead of
the hundreds so he can be a more
confident golfer so he can be a more
confident person on the golf course now
I totally just rough that out I mean
like I'm literally pulled pulling this
out of my head from experience I've had
golfing when I was younger and just
ideas I've got about who would be
looking for that and that's all you're
supposed to do right now on the next
video we're going to go into some tools
we're gonna do another over my shoulder
kind of video and I'm gonna look at two
of the key ways you're able to go get
actual data number one is from one of
the biggest websites in the world that
owns more data on every human being in
the world that then I would care to
acknowledge it's actually kind of scary
but they have a free tool that's going
to allow you to dig in and really drill
down on these interests and see the
types of person that are interested in
this in these kinds of topics which is
your niche we're also going to look at a
trick that I love basing the data on
major publishing companies and major
publications if you will and learning
about who their readers are because this
information is actually readily
available and I'll show you exactly
where you'll get it so for right now
keep your notebook going or take out
another piece of paper and start to
write down or a word document on your
computer and start to type up or write
down who you think you're going to be
speaking to who is the one person in
your entire business that you're going
to focus on helping serving helping them
achieve their goals and when you get
that hashed out let's meet up on the
next video and we'll go into these
data-driven tools that are completely
free so you can either back up and
verify what you're believing or you can
kind of tweak it and tune it and
fine-tune it because you're never going
to be done with this process it's always
learning

I'm always learning about my customers
and I love understanding more about them
and the more I understand about them the
more effective of a communicator I can
become
