How To Create Facebook Ads In The Power Editor For Facebook PPC Campaigns



hello again miles bechler here with
miles becker calm in this video we're
going to continue the Facebook
advertising series and we're going to
look at how to create a Facebook ad
inside of the power editor now real
quick before we jump in I want to make
sure this is clear this is not a
copywriting video we'll get to the
copywriting specifics kind of in future
videos and there's a lot to copywriting
and it's important for you to know that
what we're getting into is kind of the
the technical nuts and bolts what goes
where type thing and ultimately it's
relatively easy to do this side of it to
be honest actually setting up the ads in
the ad campaigns it's a little complex
if you haven't seen how to get a
campaign going or an ad set going check
out the previous videos there they're
linked to in the description but it's
it's really the rubber meets the road at
the copy that you're using your
messaging needs to intrigue entice get
your target market to take action it
needs to be compelling so the first
thing I'm going to do I'm going to move
myself out of the way and I'm gonna give
you a tip to help you on the copywriting
side because if you're at this point
you're like ready to go this is the book
that I recommend that you get going it
is great leads the six easiest ways to
start any sales message by Michael
Masterson I've owned this book I've read
this book as you can see it's $8.99 on
Kindle it is an absolutely fantastic
book and it's going to give you some
insight into the psychology of people
and where they're at at they're within a
buying process so you can understand how
to trigger the people that you're
wanting to get to take action through
your Facebook ad and it also gives you
essentially templates that you can use I
wouldn't say it's like a swipe file but
the six ways he teaches one through six
as you read it you literally can have a
pen and paper next to you and I
guarantee as you're reading you'll have
a ha moments of a ha okay problem
solution or question answer I can and
heat the way he explains it makes it
really easy to synthesize like how do I
use this for my target market so it's a
quick read it's a short simple book I
mean you can see it gets absolutely
fantastic reviews
not even a single - or one-star review
on this book this is gold I bought this
a while ago copy is something I'm always
striving to get better at I recommend
you take that approach as well and if
you need help getting going on the copy

that said let's jump back into the power
editor and as I said we're continuing on
these last videos that we've published
we already have set up our campaign in a
previous video we've already set up our
ad set in a previous video so if you
missed those be sure to go catch those
videos because they're required for you
to set up an advertisement to have a
campaign and an ad set for this so I'm
going to tick this box I'm going to
click apply so I'm locking the power
editor in to working with this ad set
and over here I'm going to click on the
ad level and of course we have no ads
yet so I'm going to go here and I'm
going to create my ad and it wants to
know what campaign and what ad set to go
under and it automatically populates
this if you have multiple it generally
will put the newest one up top but these
are my ad and ad set level and I click
continue now this brings me inside of my
ad set so let's see here existing ad set
so it wants me to create a new ad the ad
set and it's essentially just making
sure I'm aware of what my ad set this is
the ad set level kind of an overview
again we covered all this in the past
this is all of our cuttings customer
audience and our targeting that we're
doing so we click continue and it wants
to know what kind of an ad do we want to
run here now they're always changing
this they're always adding things I
really personally still love the single
image I also like the single video
challenge with videos it's a little bit
more difficult to get going you have to
write a video script you have to get a
little bit deeper into the psychology
the single image the reason I like it is
because it's simple it's fast it's
effective and most importantly it
mirrors what your target market is
already seeing on
Facebook they might see some videos they
rarely see carousels unless they're ads
they rarely see slideshows most people
see a lot of single image on single
image posts on their Facebook Timeline
and that's what I want I want to blend
in with their timeline and I its
interruption marketing right there
they're just scrolling through on their
device looking at their cell phone and
we want our image and content to pop up
just like we showed in the ad tear down
that I did through my swipe file in a
previous video so the next thing you're
going to notice is it'll allow you to
browse your library of images but they
have a deal with I believe it's
Shutterstock I don't exactly know where
you can get free stock images I highly
highly highly recommend going with free
stock images and as you're looking for
imagery imaging is really important you
want it to be relatively simple right
again go back to thinking about what
your target market is doing on Facebook
they're scrolling through looking for
pictures of friends of family members
possibly the grandkids the grandparent
there they're not expecting an ad right
we don't want Mike Friday Friday Friday
special 10% off you know we don't want
those kinds of ABS that people
traditionally think about with
advertising we want something that's
going to fit in but yet capture their
attention so it is powered by
Shutterstock and we can search there's
literally hundreds of thousands and what
I'm going to search for is personal
development and this is like an abstract
term right inside of Shutterstock but
they do actually put good tags on them
so this one right here I mean I could go
with this right there kind of like hands
up the the kind of relaxing at the beach
that's the goal of someone who's in
personal development I'm going to go let
me go with a frustrated woman so now I'm
looking for what is personal development
solve right personal development solves
the problems of frustration we can grow
into better people and we can man this
is actually kind of interesting I don't
usually do things with words but I kind
of like this um little help sign can you
squares the
pop up everything else pops up with that
one there it is so she's obviously
frustrated but being at the laptop kind
of shows maybe she's more interested
this could be like a make money type
thing perfect I'm gonna go with this one
right here and it'll allow you to take
up to six images and you can start off
with six images and run a big split test
we're going to get into split testing in
the future videos so for right now I'm
just going to take one image and I'm
going to literally start with one image
on my add now the next thing it asks is
it wants to know what fan page I want to
run this through so I'm just going to
pick my lifestyle design fan page you
obviously need to pick you have to first
of all have a fan page right if you
don't have a fan page for what you're
marketing you have to have a fan page so
get that up first because it always
displays you coming from your fan page
whether it's your name your your fan
page name your brand name whatever it
doesn't really matter so how this editor
works is once we get down here you're
going to notice this is the preview on
the right this is the ad that we're
creating and then you'll notice on the
left side over here this is where we're
manipulating everything that goes over
there so we need a website URL right
where are we sending people so we are
going to we're going to miles Becker
comm slash recommended resources and
it's going to check there it goes it
pulled it up and what it did is you
notice the text just changed it pulled
up all of this kind of default text from
my from my actual website right it went
in and it read that and you can see that
it's automatically populated three four
separate text areas there's the above
the image text that's what people see
first when they're scrolling through
Facebook there's the headline area down
here and then there's the below headline
text which is a blue called the
description text and then there is the
URL text and obviously we've got our
call to action
button so what I'm going to do is the
first thing I'm going to do I believe
this is the top portion so I just type
test and I'm going to watch it
auto-update exactly so literally I still
do this because they're always changing
this tool right this looks this actually
looks different than the last time I
created an ad everything is the same
they've just kind of laid it out a
little bit differently they're always
tweaking their user experience so now I
know this is this top level here and
I've talked about in the past we've
looked at several question-and-answer
style advertisements that's one of the
six great leads from the Mikel Masterson
book so I'm going to use that and again
this is not actually a campaign that I'm
running I'm doing this to help you kind
of have a live real simulation so just
keep that in mind but I'm going to go
ahead and type in some text here I may
get a basic question in there that might
be compelling to my audience and again
from the past videos my audience is
interested in personal development okay
and I just typed in a couple of a little
question and then a little teaser right
so if you look here we got the question
first feel like you're not achieving all
you're meant to be in this life not my
greatest headline right I'm off the cuff
here I personally when I write headlines
I will on my notepad I'll hand write ten
twenty thirty of them it's like it's
like a garden hose that's been sitting
there plugged in for a week or two and
hasn't been used you turn it on and and
kind of brown nasty old water comes out
first but as you keep it flowing the
water gets better and better and better
so generally I would have written down
over here on my desk
ten twenty thirty sometimes even forty
different headlines and hooks
essentially this is the hook that we're
working with until I get one that's like
wow yeah that's really going to compel
my target market so take this at face
value I'm just doing this for
illustrative purposes so we've got the
the question and then we we back up the
question here right so feel like you're
not achieving all you're meant to be in
this life here's the question their
brain jumps in is like maybe yeah they
say yeah they keep reading these three
sub
conscious beliefs could be holding you
back now I'm putting this in because the
three subconscious beliefs is something
they're not trying to do it's almost
like this is happening to them right so
if we've pique their curiosity here the
next place that we're going is this
headline so all right so now we've got
the headline here and you notice the way
I type this out it push the headline
down for two lines and then it made this
only one line what Facebook does is
Facebook gives us a certain amount of
vertical like room that we get to
display before anyone clicks like a read
more button so if I make this top text
really long it's going to give me less
space down here so this top text is
pretty short but this is now two lines
which push this to one line I'm okay
with that potentially I generally like
to use all of my lengths so I would
consider short shortening this to one
line or adding another little bit to it
to fill up that second line again I'm
not going to do that now because it's
not that important this isn't like a
live test I'm just trying to help you
understand try to get your headline to
one full line with a dot dot dot or get
it to two full lines here and in fact so
IB night is easy as adding a call to
action up there in many senses for this
example so this is this is a much better
example of what I was talking about so
now it's got those two lines here and
we've got one more section and this
newsfeed link description is this area
so I can just say test if I don't know
what it is and it's going to
automatically populate live but we're
gonna probably see it right down here
exactly so and I keep I do this testing
all the time just to make sure I'm
manipulating the area that I think I am
so I'm getting my ad and this little
line is it's like the least potent right
so my hook is up top this is where I
capture their attention and I get them
really excited or interested or curious
right curiosity inducing I want an image
that kind of like gets them to stop
because if people are scrolling really
fast you
you barely even have a second of their
attention so the image is kind of the
most striking thing and she's looking
she's making eye contact she looks
confused and if you have a friend who
posts a picture like that a selfie of
like this that look of like I don't say
despair but maybe on the path to that it
would potentially get you to slow down
and be like whoa what's going on here
right what's what's the deal here so
that's why I liked this picture off the
top of my head and this so they read
this first they see her they're like
okay interesting
boom free video reveals the secret if
you don't get this phrase I mean it
comes out of that book it's also a part
of all of the funnels that I talk about
in my funnel videos this is a great way
to bring people into your funnel so I
default to that a lot I use it a lot I
learned that from Russell Brunson and
it's it's been great so here I'm going
to say I'm going to go ahead and type
this up real quick one quick second all
right
and we're back so I got this text here
and this was the lower tax learn how you
can reprogram your subconscious beliefs
fast click now I'm going to take fast
out and I'm going to put effortlessly
and obviously this would be some sort of
a meditation type product again I'm not
making this as a real-world case study
I'm trying to give you some really basic
ideas watch now click now effortlessly
these are all things that people like to
hear we're a instant gratification
society so your ads need to kind of play
to that instantly is a great word and
and some of these power words that that
maybe help people realize that it's not
going to take that much work is not
going to take that much time it's the
quick fix it'll be done quick and easy
and that's what people want so that's
what we need to kind of mark it at
because we want them to take action the
last thing is this display link this is
down here I'm going to see if I can
change that aha so we used to
interesting they just change this so we
use to actually be able to change that
text and it won't let me change that
text so it actually wants a real place
and it's going to show it down here so
you
you just want to make sure that your
your URL is descriptive you know if it
just says for size free that's one thing
but you may want it to say forward slash

down here it would again say free video
reveals the secret and you're further
reinforcing the idea of what you're what
you're giving them or what they're
getting on the tracking so in a previous
video or actually was a pair of videos
we covered your Facebook pixels and we
want to track all conversions from the
Facebook pixel it's going to ask you
which pixel that you want to track
through and you want to pick obviously
the one that you have installed on your
website and you want to choose your
conversion tracking pixels if you have
conversion tracking in which you do
right because we went through that and
it's really important to be tracking all
of your just all your conversions you
need to know what percentage of people
who click on the button opt in and you
need to know what percentage of those
people purchase your oto or your
one-time offer that displays after they
opt-in so that's it really we click
review order here it's going to say
here's how much it cost here's who's
going to it literally gives us a
breakdown of the campaign the ad set and
then the ad itself I would change this
ad let's see here I would change the ad
name to something like um confused so I
change the ad name to include two things
number one is confused girl which is a
reference to the image that we're using
in this and number two is free video
which is kind of a reference to the copy
and I'm actually going to go farther and
put Q and a and that even takes it
farther so it's not just the free video
ad it's the free video with the
question-and-answer style ad so now
we're going to get into this in the next
videos of how to split test our our ads
here in Facebook and what we're going to
split test are these different pieces
right so there's the imagery which is
the first part there's the free video
which is the offer which we can split
test and then there's the QA which is
the type of the advertisement which we
will also split test in the future again
we'll get into that more here in
future and save the draft it's going to
save it now it's gonna want me to upload
this so it can charge me and get this ad
running which I'm not going to do but
ultimately that is how you set up an ad
in the Facebook pay-per-click
advertising system the last thing you
would do is click review changes here it
uploads the ad the ad set and the
campaign uploads all of that to Facebook
for review generally takes 2530 minutes
and then at that point it goes live
according to your schedule if it's
scheduled to go instantly it'll go
instantly or if it's scheduled to go in
the future it'll go in the future so
that's really it and at this point
congratulations if you're watching
you've really really learned kind of
what maybe five to ten percent of modern
marketers understand this nuts and bolts
tactical how to use the Facebook
advertising platform to create
successful Facebook ads using the power
editor very very powerful stuff here if
you've been following along and building
these out as you go and you're ready to
upload your first ad set you are by far
within the top 1 to 2 percent of
marketers most people never get this far
right like most people think oh it's too
difficult
I can't they got all these beliefs built
in it's too expensive it's blah blah
blah blah blah but you're obviously
committed so my hat is off to you I'm
really excited the next videos as I said
we're going to get into split testing
this and I'm going to show you exactly
how to set up your split tests for your
Facebook Ads inside of the power editor
