How To Get Out Of Depression And Failure, Then Turn Your Life Around


so I saw a few questions that people
submitted to me around just depression
and they're going through a rough time
in their life and I feel like I really
hopefully tailored this and answered
that a lot and talked a lot about that
in today's video that I think will
really help someone that is going
through depression you know there's a
lot of things that of course can help
but I think this is one thing that can
really make that shift but really
conditioning yourself these positive
emotional states that you want more of
in your life and I think that's a really
key thing and having those rituals and
I've kind of already discussed that but
this person here says Stefan I feel sick
and depressed I always fail achieving my
goal which is succeed the chartered
accounting exam in my country Morocco I
can't sustain any job opportunity either
quit or get hired how can you help me
okay number one is changing your belief
about failure you see there's no such
thing as failure
there's only feedback and every time you
fail you can understand you're one step
closer towards where you want to be the
most successful people in the world
through history have all failed
condemned all failed Thomas Edison
failed over a thousand times before he
invented the light bulb right so all
these people have failed the only
difference is they didn't let them stop
them I fail I feel every day I've made
so many mistakes in my life my business
is scary but I don't let that stop me I
don't let that affect me I don't get
down about I don't get discouraged
in fact one thing one belief that I have
is I celebrate every result every
outcome I celebrate good or bad all
right you know I shared earlier that you
know if a girl rejects you thank you
Thank You universe because the universe
or God based on your beliefs is opening
up something new for you there's a
reason there's a purpose behind that and
it's your job your responsibility to
take that in that lesson and improve
from that and grow from it so that you
can make progress and achieve what you
want so I view failure is a good thing
you know I think the secret to success
is that double your rate of failure you
know fail more try new things because
that means you're experimenting you're
going for it
you're doing things that other people
aren't willing to do because I just want
to play is safe so don't be discouraged
by that shift your beliefs go back to
last month the video on beliefs shift
that belief around failure create a new
empowering belief like it's impossible
to fail you know that's my belief it's
impossible to fail because you can learn
and grow this benefit and there's good
and everything that life provides for
you and you know what you're just gonna
ask you know why do you want this is
this a must for you and if so change
your approach try something else look at
things and look at okay why am i coming
up short why am i me you know what are
the mistakes that I'm making and what do
I need to do to turn this around what do
I need to do to make this better make it
right again ask questions that elicit
the emotions that you need and access
the emotional states that you need to be
able to conquer this goal is challenging
this desire that you have in your life
another person says depressed and don't
know where to start how to move forward
how to move forward and never stop
moving forward the way that you move
forward is number one is you set a goal
you set a vision you have something you
have to have something to move towards
okay I don't care what that goal or
vision is maybe it's just to be happy
maybe it's to you know do well at a job
or get a job or make a certain amount of
money or to get in better shape but set
goals and create a vision for your life
and we've discussed that already inside
the life mastery blueprint but that's
really the first the first step is to go
through that and set that write it out
write it out each day or you know put it
on your wall or you know put it
somewhere so that you can see it every
day remind yourself of that goal and
then how do you move forward is you just
create a plan you say okay you know
what's the first step that I can take or
what's a step that I could take they can
help bring you closer towards this goal
in this vision you don't have to do
everything you don't have to be a
perfectionist you don't have to
overwhelm yourself with a million steps
you know one thing I like to do is I
like to create what is called a could do
list all right there's a to-do list and
then there's a could do list I like to
write down weird all the things I could
do they can allow me to achieve this
goal to allow me to achieve this vision
and then sometimes it's just the
smallest things you know maybe it's just
going to the groceries
buying some healthy food that's a step
forward you know maybe it's going for a
walk going to the gym
maybe it's doing a ritual probably all
these little things that you can do that
move you forward and in life when you're
achieving goals this finish and you
always have to update it it's not enough
just to sit at once you got to check in
on yourself maybe it's every month you
check in or maybe it's the weekly
evaluation ritual you check in hey it
might make them progress hey you know
what my progress actually went down
don't beat yourself up don't get hard on
yourself just say hey okay what do I
need to do to move forward what I need
to do what adjustments do I need to make
what are some actions I got to get back
on track with that can allow me to move
forward to make progress and that's
really all there is to it listen let's
not overcomplicate things I'm a big
believer just simplifying it as much as
possible that this is my vision this is
my goal this is my plan what can I do
right now to move forward and you just
keep moving forward
there's always steps forward as long as
you keep updating your goals and your
vision when you get closer towards it
and when you achieve it so just keep
making progress that's the main thing
tiny progress makes it a significant
difference you know I remember a story
about you know Pat Riley who was a
basketball coach who's retired is now
the general manager of Miami Heat but at
the time he was coaching the Los Angeles
Lakers and he had he was coaching Magic
Johnson and Kareem abdul-jabbar and they
had just I think gone to the
championship the finals and they gave
you everything they could but they lost
and they're so defeated they're so
disappointed and I remember you know Pat
Riley was sharing the coach that he came
to the team the next year I started the
season and he said in order for us to
win the championship next year we need
to improve by 20% and the whole team was
like what are you talking about we gave
it everything he possibly could there's
nothing left more for us to give or do
we can't you can't achieve 20% that's
ridiculous we already maxed out and we
still lost and so what he did was he
made them realize that we can achieve
this 20% if we each
make tiny progress in each area of our
game so for example you took the you
know the players and said hey we know
what you know you might not be might not
think that you can achieve 20% more of
what you've already did but what if we
improve your free-throws
just by 1% what if we improve your
blocking your defense your shooting your
speed your strength just by 1% every
little facet of your game rebounding
assists passing just by 1% and then you
know he took the next player the same
thing and then before you know the end
of the day he made them all believe that
if they just made tiny improvements
micro improvements to their game and
each facet of it then collectively as a
group and as a team that that would
achieve over 20% growth and sure enough
they ended up winning the championship
the next year so progress is small a lot
of people think that progress has to be
this big thing it doesn't you know just
got to think about how can I improve a
tiny little bit today in fact I think
that changing your life often times is
just the the little things that improve
over time you know every day when you do
your rituals you might only be improving
by 0.0001 percent but it's the
consistency of that every single day
make them that progress that what
happens is over a year two years five
years ten years people are like oh my
god that guy changed his life overnight
and it's never the case because it's all
the little consistent boring repetitive
mundane things that you do every single
day that you discipline yourself to do
that produce the big results over time
so just always remind yourself make tiny
progress of your day how can you improve
by 1% today how can you improve by 0.001
percent today right and just focus on
that tiny progress celebrate reward
yourself when you experience it and just
keep moving forward towards it
you
