everyone so in today's video I'm gonna
share some frugal hacks so you can save
some money coming up this year now these
a little bit of money in different
places and maybe you didn't think that
you could actually save money in these
different ways and you probably know
some of these ways but maybe some will
be new to you and they'll be able to
help you save a little bit of extra
money so you can save more money invest
more money hopefully in the end you got
to make more money as well so let's jump
into it I will try not to make this
video too long because I like videos
they get to the point and we'll get
started so the first tip is to eat
before you actually go out now this one
might sound a little bit obvious but if
you're not as hungry when you go out
you're probably gonna spend a little bit
less and the reason why I like this hack
as well is that it really makes you
enjoy the food they're going out for the
reason of the flavor of the food rather
than just trying to fill yourself which
can also end up costing a little bit
more money so really with this tip all
you need to do is maybe eat a little bit
of stuff before you go out especially if
you know you're going to be going to
maybe in a more expensive place to eat
and then you know eat something nice
when you're at home and then when you're
out you're not gonna be really really
hungry and then you're not going to end
up spending you know hundred dollars on
a meal out because you wanted to order
everything just to kind of you know not
be as hungry anymore so eat a little
snack or two before you go out and then
hopefully you'll be able to buy a little
bit less when you eat out and you'll be
good next up is one that I actually
really like doing as well which is
buying secondhand or buying refurbished
now secondhand is pretty obvious it's
going out and buying things that people
have used before and this can actually
be a really good way of saving quite a
lot of money especially for things like
technology and you know electronics and
things like that because a lot of the
time people really do look after their
electronics and tech and stuff for
example my computer is secondhand and it
works really just as well as I would
have you know expected because the
person who used it before really looked
after it and it's the same with my
camera as well I've got a Canon 80 dated
DSLR and I bought it secondhand
it had been used for maybe a few months
before and it's pretty much in as new
condition so I was able to save a good
amount of money with that and especially
for things that people were gonna you
know not abused beforehand that's a
really good way now I did also touch on
the idea of using refurbished things and
that's also a really good way especially
if you want to get a really good quality
kind of item at a much discounted rate
and I even know people like Apple do
refurbish too kind of computers and
iPads and phones in fact I actually used
to work for Apple and we would sell
refurbished things and essentially what
refurbished means is that they might
have been used by a customer and then
returned maybe you know within a month
or so they might not have liked it like
obviously they can't sell it straight
away but as a new item so what they'll
do is they'll take it back with their
tech people and they'll make it as new
as possible so if there's something
wrong with it maybe they will change out
that part or if there's got a scratch on
it they'll change their like top plate
or something on the computer that's a
really good way of getting a really nice
product it's going to be as good as
possible and I know like with Apple they
have a very similar warranty at least a
year with their refurbished things as
well and it's a lot cheaper as well so
refurbished is also a great way of
saving a little bit of money now the
first tip I gave you was all about
eating out and hopefully you know eating
a little bit before so you're not gonna
be as hungry the next one is kind of
going the opposite way and that is
cooking your own meals and also doing
batch cooking which I've found to be a
really really useful thing so a lot of
us when we come home from work we're
gonna be really really tired and you
just don't want to you know you don't
want to be cooking every single night
some of us have really enjoyed cooking
in fact I love cooking but there are
definitely times especially if I'm
cooking for myself if I don't have my
girlfriend around I really don't want to
cook so what I love to do is batch
cooking so it's essentially a meal prep
where maybe on a Sunday or something you
just get a whole lot of ingredients and
you know you'll make seven different
meals so you might make ten different
meals all of kind of a similar kind of
style or you could make three different
styles as well and essentially what it's
going to do is allow you to have those
meals ready to go all we need to do is
maybe reheat them in the oven or in the
microwave and it's gonna be all good to
go so what this really saves you in
doing is either you know ordering
something like uber eats which is
something I've found myself that I do
quite often if I'm really tired you know
I'll just be like what's the easiest
thing that I can do well if I'm gonna do
Buber eats I may as well just get the
meal that I've that
cooked or you know done the meal prep
with on the Sunday and I can just break
eat that so it's gonna really save you
doing that or going out and getting junk
food or going to a restaurant or
something like that to you know doing
this is a great way of saving a little
bit of money because you can also do it
in bulk so you're going to be buying
cheaper ingredients and it's always
cheaper at being at home another tip is
to go and check your shelves in your
pantry or in your kitchen and make sure
things aren't running out on their
expiry date because it essentially we're
gonna be doing is just throwing away
that food I know that sometimes I fall
into this trap as well we know I'll buy
something at the grocery aisle like I'm
definitely gonna be using that and then
it's it's there and then you know the
next day comes and I'm like I don't
really feel like it and then it keeps on
going and before you know it it's either
gone past the expiry date or it has gone
by the plastic spreader and you smell it
and you're like well I'm not gonna take
the risk in that essentially what you've
just done is thrown away money so it's a
really good idea to you know maybe every
few days just make sure that everything
is still in expert in the proper date so
you can actually eat it and what I've
actually found is a good tip is to put
the things that you know that are going
to be running out a little bit quicker
like things like the milk and maybe
chicken or something like that I put
them on the higher shelf so that's where
I'm generally gonna be looking anything
at the lower shelves or even on the side
of the fridge I generally kind of don't
look as much so if you put it right in
your line at the line of sight it's a
great way of making sure that you're not
going to miss those things and hopefully
you'll eat them and also you won't miss
their expiry date my next tip is to give
yourself a little bit of time before you
buy things so rather than going out and
buying things straight away especially
if they're an expensive item what I
would highly recommend is making
yourself wait two days before you buy
anything over say you know $200 or $500
depending on what is expensive for you
so it might even be fifty dollars it
might be a thousand dollars but what
this does is make you kind of get out of
that impulse purchase mindset and are
more into kind of a more conceived
mindset where you're like you really
think do I actually need this so rather
than going to a TV you know a store what
I would recommend is probably buying
things online because then you can
really make yourself wait for two days
rather than going into a store for
example I went to buy a TV the other day
and I felt really pressured into buying
the TV right there and
so fortunately I walked out and I didn't
feel pressured by the the salesman but
if you're gonna be buying something
online it's a lot easier to not buy it
and what you can do is you know think
about it make sure that you actually
need it and you might even think in the
end well maybe I don't need this because
you know I've got other things that I
mean I could put that money towards I
could put that money towards investing I
could give that money away to someone
and it really does just take away that
impulse kind of mindset which can often
get us into a little bit of Trump
trouble and it's not particularly great
if you're trying to be a bit more frugal
and the next one might not work for you
but it's definitely worked for me and
that is getting back on my bike now
essentially what I'm talking about is to
try not to use your car as much and if
you can get onto a bike a bicycle or use
things like the you know the voice
scooters or the bird scooters I
absolutely love them now granted I live
in a fantastic biking place I live in
Sweden and everyone rides here they you
know people who are over 80 still right
here it's probably you know 60% of
people ride here and maybe 40% of people
don't ride here
but it's a great way of saving money
because you're not gonna be spending
money on petrol you're not gonna be
spending money if you can get rid of
your car which is actually something we
did as well you don't have to gonna have
to spend money on insurance you're gonna
have to spend money on
like I said petrol taxes and of course
the car itself then all the little
things that you end up buying for your
car now I've found that when I bought a
car I was like no I might need all of
these like little knickknacks and you
know air fresheners and things and they
add up so when I've got my bike all I
really need is a service you know once a
year or something like that and maybe
some new tires but it's very rare to
spend any money on the bike and in fact
we actually got electric bikes which are
even better because they really just
allow you to go pretty much anywhere and
you can put most things into your
bicycle and I mean obviously if you're
going to out here or something you're
not going to need it but then you can
get a friend help you out or use your
car for that time but I know that this
one's not always going to be practical
for a lot of people if you live in big
cities it's really difficult to you know
get around if you actually need a car
but for a lot of people if you're a
student in you know somewhere like New
York when I used to live in New York it
was much easier to ride a car ride a
bike then to drive a car but of course
if you're in somewhere like LA I know
it's
a little bit difficult but it get on
your bike as much as possible that's a
great way to save a little bit of money
now buying in bulk is a great way of
saving money as well so for example if
you know that you're going to be using
something a lot and we generally find
that we do end up using the same amount
of things like for example pasta I know
that I love to eat pasta but if you buy
it in smaller packets it's a lot more
expensive than it's going to be if you
buy it in say like a two kilogram or
five kilogram packet if you're going to
be using it you may as well buy in bulk
and this way you can really get down the
the price so one of the great things
that I found most if markets are doing
these days is putting the price per 100
grams or something price per kilogram or
I guess pound or whatever it would be in
America underneath the actual price and
this is what you should be looking at
when you are going to be buying in bulk
because you can really say that some
things are like double the price
depending on the size of them so if you
can always try and buy in bulk if you
know that you're going to use it again
you want to make sure that these things
aren't going to be expiring that's one
of the things that we're talking about
before you don't want to waste things
with expire expiration dates but if you
can get things that have really long
expiration dates
like I said past is gonna last four
pages it's a great way to buy in bulk
and then all you need to do is store it
and then you can save that money another
little tip is to swap things with your
neighbors and your friends and this is
actually something that I never really
thought about but you know if you've got
things that you might not use that much
you could just still swap with your your
your next-door neighbor and say hey I've
got this do you want to use it and then
they might be able to give you something
so for example like a blender you know
we don't use a blender that often but we
can borrow a blender from them and then
we're gonna save ourselves you know one
hundred and fifty dollars on a blender
and if they need to borrow something
that we have we're more than happy to do
it it's a simple one but I think it
works as well there you go there were a
few frugal tips which I hope you got a
little bit out of if you like this
content I make lots of videos similar to
this in personal finance and you know
making money online and saving money
online as well so make sure to subscribe
to the channel because that's always
nice oh you have a great day good luck
being frugal and I'll see you next time
bye
