hey guys Stefan here from project life
mastery calm and in this video I got
some motivation for you guys something
that will help you change your
perspective on things and look a lot
deeper than just the surface so there's
a great story that I heard from Jim Rohn
the great motivational speaker and he
who is you know broken struggling in his
life but he just bought this brand new
TV and you know Jim Rohn said to the man
he asked him how much did you pay for
this TV what was the price and the man
said I paid four hundred and fifty
dollars for this TV and Jim responded to
him
you better look at the price tag again
and the man said what do you mean Jim
Rohn said this TV that you just bought
is actually costing you over twelve
thousand dollars a year and he was
sharing the story back in the 80s but
twelve thousand dollars a year and the
man said what are you talking about you
know I paid $450 for this TV 20 in
twelve thousand dollars a year and he
said the price that you're paying by
watching this TV every single day for
the next year is costing you over twelve
thousand dollars because you have to
look at the deeper cost and price to
everything everything has a price and
there's a cost to everything there's a a
consequence to everything you know you
think that you're buying this TV for
$450 but really the time they're
spending watching it there's an
opportunity cost to that time you know
the national average that Jim Rohn said
back in the 80s of the average amount of
time that people will spend watching TV
was seven hours a day seven hours a day
watching TV now I don't know what that
is today obviously there's an internet
now as well and I can imagine people
spend hours a day watching YouTube
videos on Facebook on social media and
what you have to understand is that
there's a cost to all of those actions
there's a cost to you spending your time
doing all those things because that time
can be spent on improving yourself
growing learning starting an online
business working to make more money
right if you're spending all this time
you know watching TV surfing the net
doing all these meaningless things that
don't help you grow
enhance your life then you're wasting it
away that's costing you more money down
the road long-term that's how you always
have to look at it same thing with video
games you know video games you spend
time into something but you don't get
anything back there's no return on that
time that you're spinning on a video
game there's wasting it all away
same thing with most TV shows movies and
and and video games and all these sort
of things that people do in they indulge
in that don't enhance your life or make
it better anything that's not aligned
with your purpose in life is a waste of
your life of fulfillment you want to
make sure that everything that you're
doing in your life is helping you grow
expand become more in your life not less
and you so you really have to evaluate
that you know I work with people all the
time people that sign up for different
courses that I have they want to build
an online business I want to make money
online and they say I don't have time
well you're spending you know you work 8
hours a day what are you doing for the
rest of the day what are you doing in
the evening time you know if you're
sitting around watching TV playing video
games surf the net doing nothing well
that time is valuable time that you can
spend to grow an online business you
know as you become more successful your
time is even more valuable because it's
worth more right so for me spending an
hour a few hours wasting time you know
here and there that's costing me a lot
more that's why people as they become
more successful they'll hire a personal
assistant and people to do a lot of
these things for them you know I don't
have my house cleaned I don't cook or
make my meals I have people do those
things for me because my time is worth
so much more so every hour that I can
get back and utilize in my business and
creative thinking and growing and
learning and spending even time with my
relationship things that actually matter
in my life those things are much more
important not cleaning and and cooking
and doing sort of things that don't
really help me grow so you have to look
beyond just the initial price tag you
have to look beyond that you know you
have to look at the return that you're
getting on everything over a long term
you can never look at the short-term
right short term it might look like
you're getting a great deal but again
over the law
term you have to look at what is that
costing you what's the long-term return
on that you know you invest some money
in a you know improving yourself and of
course in a coach and a training in a
seminar in a book people complain oh you
know I thousand dollars to go to a
seminars a thousand dollars to buy this
program you know well the return on that
is worth a lot more that return could be
worth millions of dollars to you over a
long period of time that resource that
information that knowledge the
inspiration that insight that you might
get from that might be worth so much
more I invested in certain personal
training programs internet business
programs years ago I never got in a
return from some of the things I invest
in you know I've bought different
courses and programs
I didn't start making money right away
after those programs but some of the
things that I learned in those different
programs or ideas or concepts have
helped me five ten years later make a
million dollars right so I didn't see
the return until later down the road
same thing with hiring an employee you
know you hire someone on your business
you're paying them twenty thirty dollars
an hour it's not like you pay thirty
dollars and you get an immediate return
on that sometimes you have someone work
on different projects for you different
parts of your business you don't see the
return till the next year five years
because it's growing over that period of
time so we invest the money upfront and
it grows okay so the point here is you
have to look beyond the initial state
the surface you gotta look beyond the
surface you have to look beyond that can
you have to look the deep the return on
things the costs they'll consequence the
price that you're paying for different
things in your life and ask yourself is
that gonna make me better is it growing
my life and improving it over the long
term because the long term is what
matters
focus on just growing over the long term
keep your eyes on the horizon you'll be
there soon enough okay don't get worried
about or carried away with all the speed
bumps of life just focus on the horizon
keep growing keep improving yourself and
your life will transform for the better
