Stop Being A Perfectionist, Focus On Adding Value Instead

hey guys Stefan here from
projectlifemastery.com I'm in my car
right now doing some errands and I
thought this would be a good opportunity
for me to record a quick video and talk
about something I've seen a few other
you know video bloggers and stuff do
some videos in their cars so I thought
why not you know when I'm driving around
I'm not really doing anything anyways so
might as well talk to you guys and maybe
share some content that I could put up
on the blog now one of the things I want
to talk to you guys today about is a
conversation that I had with a friend of
mine Sean and it was about publishing
content on the Internet
and what is Sean's I hope he doesn't
mind sharing feature in this but one of
his I guess challenges or struggles or
something that's holding him back among
I've seen so many people have the same
challenge as well
it's almost being a little bit too
self-conscious or afraid to put out
content being a little bit of a
perfectionist with content that you're
putting out whether it's in a blog or a
kindle book or a video or whatever it is
because you feel that maybe it's not up
maybe people won't benefit from it or
the quality of the standard of it isn't
as high as you would like it to be and I
could totally relate to this because I
had the same challenge in my life when I
first started putting out content and
everything I was overly perfect before I
put it out because I'd want to make sure
that it was amazing stuff that would
really help people and the more that I
have published content on the internet
I've learned some really great lessons
and now a new philosophy that I have
that really serves me which is the
philosophy of publishing really the
philosophy of taking imperfect action
meaning not worrying about trying to
make something that you're putting out
be perfect
really just putting it out it's putting
a content you feel can add value to
people okay so there's a little bit of a
difference there between perfect content
and adding value so if I'm publishing a
book on Kindle or if I'm putting on a
video blog or whatever there's a lot of
content that I put out there and when I
look back on it I'm a little bit
embarrassed of it to be honest like some
of the videos I put out in the past few
years I look back on it and I'm insecure
about it I'm like oh man like I was kind
of nerdy back then or you know you're
kind of maybe concerned about how you
look or you made some mistakes in the
way that you said something or you said
to many moms or us or I swore in some
videos and people didn't like that and I
used to worry about that stuff a lot and
then I looked at it from an objective
standpoint and I just asked myself this
question even though this content isn't
perfect and there's a lot of things that
I can point out in it that I don't like
that's not up to the standard that I
really like I asked myself have people
benefited from this or will they benefit
from this well other people receive
value from this content than I'm putting
out and if the answer is yes then I will
be proud of that content and I'll stand
by it and I'll continue to put it out
there as long as people receive value
from it because I realized that it's
only it's all my own you are that
gets in the way just arriving in my
destination right now but I realize it's
more so my that gets in my way that
prevents me from doing it and you know I
think the same thing relates to my
friend Sean and so many other people
it's more your own insecurities your own
issues that prevents you from putting
you up because a lot of people buy you
just putting out their content it might
not be up to your standard but so many
people might be benefiting from it you
know in my case as a blogger and doing
videos and the Kindle books there's a
lot of content that I put out there that
I receive no positive reinforcement from
in fact I don't even know if it's
helping people so guys I had somebody
call me right now and should I interrupt
the flow of the video but I was saying I
could put over the video let's say a
hundred people watch it and listen
nobody says anything about it
you know nobody says anything good or
bad about it um I don't know if it was
valuable to someone or not unless people
actually tell me or in some cases I
could put out a video and let's say a
hundred people watch that video and
let's say one person okay one person
says something bad about that video and
says it sucked and that you look stupid
or something negative which people like
to do on the Internet
you know that one person could say
something bad about it but those 99
other people could have changed their
life with that video or that content
that I put out they could have made an
incredible change or transformation with
what I shared with them which could go
on and change their lives and change
other people's lives but I won't even
hear it only see that one negative thing
that that one person put that a lot of
times is in fact a lot of other people's
issues of just looking for the bad and
things and it doesn't mean that what I
put out was bad you know it could mean
that 99 other people would have loved it
and changed their life with it so if I
had that mentality about content that I
put out that it not being good enough or
not being perfect enough and just
avoided putting it out I wouldn't have
had made the difference and helped so
many people that I would have helped and
I want to invite you to have that same
philosophy that if you put something out
there on the Internet just ask yourself
can people value can people receive
value from this will they benefit from
it in some way and if the answer is yes
then it's your right to put it out there
and share that with people because it
has the ability to change people's lives
not everyone might like it but as long
as the majority people do then it's
worthwhile you know there's some videos
that I've put out on my blog that I'm
like man like I don't really like that
one I should actually take it down
because I don't like the way that I look
by the way that I sound or some
insecurities or maybe whatever it might
be that I have and I stopped myself to
say wait a minute have people benefited
from this have people gotten value from
this if I were to take this down then
all those people that would have watched
it you know they don't really even care
about how I look or those little things
that I'm so worried about they've most
likely received value from it and
benefit from it so why take that down
and remove something that so many people
are receiving benefit and value from is
anyway so I hope this video kind of
changes your perspective I just want to
share
with you guys real quick I'm at my
destination right now so unfortunate car
ride has to end but I'll put this video
up there and if you guys like it and
receive value you know I'll do some more
ramblings like this in my car when I'm
driving around and pretty some more
content for you guys so thank you for
watching this video and I'll see you in
the next one
you
