behind building a successful authority
site this way you can grow your business
regardless of what's going on in the
Facebook advertising world leveraging
search engines and social media
marketing to grow your audience and

so let's get going now what is the real
core essence of building an authority
site to me it's the concept of being of
service at scale now this is really
merging a couple of ideas and I know
you've heard me talk about this before
but I want to break this down for you in
a way that makes it digestible so you'll
understand the big picture of what's
required from you moving forward to grow
a successful kind of authority based
website now the first part of that
phrase was being of service the goal in
growing an authority website and the
only real way to make money online and
I'm talking significant money like
millions of dollars true lifestyle
freedom money right the only way to do
that is to be of service to an audience
most people try to figure out their
niche and they're like what Mitch can I
make money in and that's the incorrect
way to approach the question what the
best way to go is to look within
yourself and think okay I have unique
experiences in my life I've had unique
work experience unique education
experiences lifestyle parenting you know
the environment you grew up in
everything about you is 100% unique and
out of that you have something that you
can help people with you might not
realize what it is because it probably
seems really simple to you but there is
something that you've gotten really
really good at through the years up
until this point that other people
struggle with when you find out what
that is and you go share what you're
good at to help this audience of people
who are searching for answers and
searching for how to do things that
really is kind of the trick of being of
service right and what that thing is for
you I mean if you're a tenured professor
who's been working in the university
system for 20 years and you're looking
for your escape hatch your experiences
and knowledge are gonna be vastly
different than if you're a 24 year old
guy who's been dominating at a certain
video game for years and years or if
you're a 33 year old girl who cooks
vegan food for your pets and you are all
about vegan pet food for your pets right
like whatever that is that's inside of
you that you do on a regular basis that
you're all about that is the starting
point to look at what audience you want
to be of service to then you identify
who you want to be in service to and
then you go create the content you find
out where they are what platforms
they're on what forums are on what
Facebook's groups they're on and you go
be helpful right you literally go into
the Facebook groups read all of the
different questions they have go create
videos about them create blog posts
about them answer them right then and
there
there's no relevant Facebook groups
start your own Facebook group let's say
for example you're a cancer survivor and
let's say chemotherapy was really really
painful and challenging for you my mom
just went through this herself so I kind
of have an inside perspective a little
bit right and outside inside if you will
perspective but one thing that helped my
mom get through chemotherapy was CBD
oils right the CBD oils helped her get
her appetite back and really helped her
get back on her feet after that now my
mom wants to share with people who were
going through that kind of that
situation that challenge in their life
that look you can make it she wants to
be an advocate for that kind of a person
and whether it's in small group meeting
with local people doing a local support
group in person whether it's putting out
blog content or videos you need to find
that thing that you've been through
you're done or that prob
that you've solved that you can help
others with and then you need to get it
out every single place that they're
looking for it right and if there's
nowhere that you can find that they're
looking for it create those places be
the blog be the YouTube channel and if
there's already dozens of them don't
worry when I started this channel there
were already hundreds if not thousands
of how to do internet marketing channels
out there I still was able to niche out
a space by being of service then the
next part is being of service at scale
right so let's talk about the at scale
part cuz this is really important and
this is where you get the leverage in
your business to create the long-term
results that you truly desire which is
the ten twenty fifty thousand dollar
months the the multi-million dollar
years and the reason is you're able
through the internet through your cell
phone through your laptop you're able to
reach literally millions if not billions
of people interested in what you're
doing so what this means is you have the
ability to go at scale with your
communication this channel obviously is
a great example of that right thirty-two
thousand plus subscribers and Counting
well over a million views at this point
I'm doing the same thing now than I was
when I started but what's happened is
I've been able to scale up and reach a
larger audience in fact I'm actually
doing less videos now than when I
started
write my blog now gets about twenty
thousand visits per month at this point
in time I'm doing the same thing I was
doing but I'm doing in a way that allows
me to get scale how do you get scale
behind what you're doing well number one
you work hard to become a content
partner with the search engines that is
so key because when Google and YouTube
and the search engines look at you as a
content partner someone who has
world-class content that answers their
users questions that they're typing into
the search engine you get the traffic
from the search engines and you have to
get to that point and what does it take
to get there takes a lot of hard work
but once you get there you get scale
working on your side then you need a
focus is down to build an email list
because your email list allows you to do
what feels like one-to-one communication
when I log into my email autoresponder
service provider and I go type up an
email to send out to my list that's now
just over two thousand people I'm
writing an email to one
proverbial person my customer avatar I
have that one person in mind I'm trying
to answer a question that they have I'm
trying to give something for free to
them and I type it up and I send it out
to them and I feel like I'm literally
sharing my best tip my best secrets I'm
trying to be of service to one person
one persona but it goes out to 2,000
plus people and every single one of
those people reads this email and then
I'll ow my legs and maybe thirty percent
open maybe ten percent actually read it
I don't know what those numbers are I
don't really care because I'm getting
scale behind what I'm doing now if you
change that to when I was doing kind of
one-on-one coaching and I would spend
all this time writing an email that went
back to one coaching client who maybe
wouldn't even take me up on the advice I
was giving them and would balk at it or
wouldn't do what I was recommending them
do there's no scale in that approach
right that's one-to-one and whether they
did something with her or not that's up
to them but now I get to send out these
messages this how-to information at
scale because literally thousands of
people are able to get and receive and
open these kinds of messages that's the
power of building an audience that's the
power of building an email list and to
kind of give you a perspective of how
this works in a bigger scale my wife's
email list is somewhere on 140,000
people and when she sends out an email
whether it's just a jab something
helpful or whether she sends out an
offer it literally goes out to a hundred
and forty thousand people some
percentage of those people open some
percentage click if it's an offer some
percentage of those people buy we're
doing the same exact things we were
doing years ago we're sending out emails
we're creating content that's helpful
we're publishing it to our blog to our
YouTube channel etc we're sending this
all out to the world the right kind of
people are finding it and the people who
are interested and want help going
further are clicking on our offers
they're purchasing and they're going
through that's really the plan and
that's what you'll learn at the kind of

you want to go be of service then what
you have to do is figure out how to
channel this energy and your content
into the right platforms in the right
way in order to reach the people who are
actually looking for it whether that
search engines through your email list
through blogs through podcasting videos
whether you want to do social media
marketing you can go down that route and

my wife and I I want to give you another
great example of this if you look at
Gary Vaynerchuk the odds are you know
who he is and whether you dig his kind
of abrasive rash style or not you will
notice that what this dude is he is
getting helpful advice helpful
information out at scale dude's got like
eight hundred and thirty four thousand
subscribers he's starting a YouTube show
he just got his own Apple show he is
getting so much content out at such a
massive scale he's really truly helping
entrepreneurs and he's touching the
lives of millions and millions of people
now his personality his persona is
repulsive to some people I totally get
that and that's okay you you will be
polarizing in one way or another my wife
and I for example like her messaging and
her niche is very polarizing to a
certain type of person who doesn't
believe in what the the angel
meditations that we do and that's fine
because the people who do believe in
what we do they're like oh man this is
for me
just like with my videos with you I know
you're tired of seeing videos that end
in pitches and that sound like they're
gonna give you the information upfront
and then the end they're just trying to
sell you the course where the real
information is and that nine minute
video be ends up being a minute of
information in seven or eight minutes of
pitching their product so what do I do
I'm
in the opposite direction and I'm being
of service at scale I'm giving as
absolute much as I possibly can this is
helping me stand out this is increasing
my subscriber rate this is increasing my
return visitor in my return viewer rate
etc etc and you have to figure out how
to do this for yourself you need to
figure out where what niche what
audience are gonna be of service to
there's a few technical things but the
tech in this day is so easy right
there's the tech challenges are not what
they were when I got started seven or
eight years ago so you're blessed in
that situation there's a little bit more
competition but what can you do to
competition you outwork them you give
more valuable information than they do
you literally pull the rug out from
underneath them exactly what I'm doing
to all the fake gurus my wife in her
niche there were some very established
authors in the space who are backed by
hundred million plus dollar publishing
companies were gobbling up all the
traffic because we've put more out for
free we've answered more questions via
blog posts via videos we put more good
content and goodwill out through social
media than our competitors do the cream
rises to the top and you have to prove
that that's you by putting out excellent
content right it's got to be excellent
content and you got to put it out more
consistently than your competitors and
you really truly have to check what
you're doing be like okay am I putting
this out there to try to get something
from people or am I really putting this
out to give of myself and to prove that
I can help them in their lives and to
help them have positive experiences in
their life because when you help them
have results in advance before you ask
for something they are so much more
willing to engage with you deeper into
your funnel than if you're simply trying
to clickbait them into watching your
video or checking out your blog post and
it's actually a pitch in disguise you
got to get that right because people who
get that wrong are going to fail so at
