and in this video we are going to look
at my top ten book recommendations for
you as you're growing your business and
as you're getting into internet
marketing and online business now the
first thing I want to say before we get
into the actual top ten list is that you
can only read one book at a time
so my recommendation for you out of this
video is to try to analyze where you're
at what you see your perceived
challenges are right now and pick one
book off of this list that is going to
be the most helpful for you right now
and consume the book and take action
then feel free to come back to the video
and get another book right because the
goal still has not changed we produce
more content than we consume and that
includes reading these books now every
book I'm going to cover here is a book
that I've read and a book that has
helped me in one of several different
ways in growing a business whether it's
mindset whether it's marketing tactics
whether it's psychology whether it's
copywriting etc I'm going to give you
the book I'm gonna give you the names of
the people who wrote the book I'm gonna
give you my really really really brief
take on each book to help you understand
if maybe that's one for you below in the
description you'll find a link and that
link takes you to an Amazon cart and
that Amazon cart has all ten of these
too many notes they're all gonna be laid
out there for you and I'm really excited
to share this with you because if these
ideas I feel they're really helps me
kind of get my mindset and my business
together moving forward in such a
productive way so I'm happy to share
this and one other thing real quick
before we start thanks for the
recommendation this video is actually a
recommendation or it was a question from

these videos give me a thumbs up here if
you like books if you like marketing and
what not what would early thumbs up
requests you like that right I did so
book number one and these are in no
particular order the kind of sort of
maybe ish order but really honestly no
particular order book number one is a
book called war of art by Steven
Pressfield and I did put this at the
number one spot for a specific reason
because I feel like this book speaks to
one of the biggest challenges we all
have when we shift into producer of
content now in the book he has this
concept called though resistance right
and it's that thought it's something
that comes up in your mind any time
you're about to sit down and create some
sort of piece of content for me I had
resistance again against putting out
content for years literally I've thought
about putting out content like I'm doing
on this channel now for years and I
always found reasons and doubts and and
other things to do and Pressfield
in the book war bar calls this the
resistance and he gives some really good
understandings about how to get beyond
the resistance and how to actually look
at the resistance as a good thing highly
recommend the book war of art and by the
way most of these are available in audio
format I listened to all but maybe one
or two of these I'm an audiobook junkie
so war Bart Steven Pressfield fantastic
book number two awaken the giant within
from Anthony Robbins can't have a
top-ten book list for entrepreneurs
without one Anthony Robbins book on it
could very easily make an argument for
more than one on it so in this book Tony
Robbins really talks about I mean it's
just it's the core Tony Robbins content
it's about finding that fire inside of
you it's about lighting that fire inside
of you it's about breaking out of kind
of patterns and how to get yourself into
peak state and really put forth the
awesomeness now I've gone through a ton
of content from from Anthony Robbins and
I highly recommend most all this stuff
to be perfectly honest but I think if
you haven't been through anything of his
awaken the giant within is great it
comes it's actually the second book the
power within I think is the first one
and they're they're very similar but I
think in awaken the giant within he got
really kind of clear and concise and
it's just a little bit easier to read I
love listening your Tony Robbins that
dude brings the energy so if you're on a
road trip or whatnot that he will help
you stay awake on that so book number
three we're going to move into the first
copywriting book you're going to notice
there are several books about
copywriting in here because I believe
the words that you choose for your
headlines for your ads for your squeeze
pages in your
sales pages if they move people to take
action you're winning if they don't
compel people to take any sort of action
that's a problem and you won't get
results so copywriting is one of those
skills that I'm constantly working on
and I think every marketer needs to be
constantly working on
so the first copywriting book I
recommend is great leads the six ways to
start any sales message it's by Michael
Masterson this is one of the books I got
in Kindle format it's not an audiobook
and essentially he's looking at what are
those first words that you use in any
marketing message whether it's an ad a
sales letter even a blog post in some
senses or your video right how do you
hook people into consuming more of your
content and that's such a powerful
concept right the hook we either hope
people or we don't I think Microsoft did
us I know Microsoft did a study the
average attention span of humans right
now is eight seconds and they they said
it's less than that of a goldfish at
this point in time so really with your
messages you have eight seconds or less
to hook people in so it's that lead-in
it's that first part of your sales
message that makes all the difference
because if you don't get them to read
paragraph two and paragraph three it
doesn't matter how great your clothes is
in that sales message it's all about
getting them into your content getting
them to go deeper into the content it
was a short book which I really
appreciated it's one I've gone through
multiple times and he's got six kind of
I don't know if templates is the right
term I mean templates right I guess
they're templates you've got six kind of
templates like the best leads I mean
that's what it is six ways of starting a
sales message so you read through that
and pretty much by the time you get to
the end of it and you go back through
and pick the one you feel like is most
relevant to you you should have a really
clear picture of how you can take
something from that book and implement
it into your squeeze page your funnel
your ad etc and that's why that one's in
the number three spot is because it's
implementable it's really easy to
consume the content and then turn around
produce with that number four the Icarus
deception
by Seth Godin Seth Godin is an absolute
badass gangster I don't know he as a
marketer Seth Godin ideas have inspired
me and helped me a ton I've been through
a
off of Seth Godin books and the one that
I really recommend is the Icarus
deception it is a broad look at an old
generalization that comes from a Greek
myth and it's the myth of Icarus and
Icarus and his dad if I remember
correctly were in jail they built wax
wings and they flew out of jail and he
was told son don't fly too high or your
wings will melt I mean you probably
remember the basics of that myth from
school years or whatever what he says is
that there was a piece left out of that
myth as it's been passed down through
the ages and it wasn't just don't fly
too high or the wax will melt but it was
also don't fly too low or the waves will
get you and his argument is that too
many people are flying too low we're
just trying to get by I did the video
Comfort is the enemy it's that kind of
an idea of you need to go big right
you've got to have big ideas and big
dreams go for it shoot for the stars
right don't fly too low because that's
as big of a problem as flying too high
and I really it kind of goes into the
idea of no one's going to come out and
pick you right if you're making YouTube
videos you make the choice and you start
making them no producers going to come
by do you want to write a book start
writing publish your book put it on
Kindle get it out there it's the day and
age you want to be a musician go make
your music and sell it on iTunes by
yourself it's no longer the day and age
of expecting a corporate agent type
situation to come choose you and get
your message out to the world it's the
day and age of us getting our own
messages out of the world and he speaks
to that as well number five halfway
point through the list influence the
psychology of persuasion by Robert
eldini I think psychology is incredibly
important it dovetails with copywriting
and funnel creation and pay-per-click
marketing because it's understanding the
psychology inside of people's head what
makes them tick what makes people take
actions what little actions can build to
bigger and bigger and bigger actions and
if you read influenced by Qi eldini I
got a feeling you're going to have some
aha moments about some of the stuff I've
talked about in my other videos
specifically what I'm getting kind of
like really geeky on my split tests and
my funnel stuff a lot of why I do what I
do is based off the concept heat covers
in influence it's a fantastic book it's
one of those ones that if you ask a
hundred internet marketers with their
top ten books is I would guess that
one's going to rank pretty highly on
most people's list because it's that
again it's the psychology of what makes
people take action what makes people
tick so important to understand that
number six is the askgaryvee book and it
is actually gary vaynerchuck and this is
an audiobook for me all the way because
Gary Vee brings the energy and so he's
got the askgaryvee show where he's been
answering people's questions on a
podcast YouTube show type situation they
took the best questions and they turned
it into an audiobook and he kind of re
answers the questions in the book so
what he does in this book there's a
couple of reasons why I really like this
book number one he reiterates the core
concepts from his previous book which is
Jab Jab Jab right hook and crush it you
don't need to go read those books per se
he really kind of covers the core ideas
in this book number two he updates a lot
of his ideas because the world this
whole marketplace everything is always
changing
also this is a great one for a long road
trip for me this is what he brings the
energy he keeps me awake I don't get
drowsy while driving as I have a three
day drive coming up after this
conference I'm going to and I guarantee
you I will relive in to the askgaryvee
on that because he brings the energy I
need to help me stay awake on the road
while also filling my mind with the
right concepts and ideas to help me grow
my business if you don't know Gary
Vaynerchuk he's really really smart when
it comes to social media and his whole
bit is like he day trades attention he
puts his messaging out where there's
attention to some everything he says up
from his keynotes and whatnot
Facebook pay-per-click ads right now is
the most undervalued attention in the
world that's why I'm so strong on kind
of Facebook pay-per-click ads right now
and that's why I recommend you go in
that direction also moving right along
number seven is the ultimate sales
letter by Dan
Kennedy now this is I think the book in
its fourth or fifth edition Dan Kennedy
is by far one of the top copy writers
living today he doesn't touch content he
won't write a letter for under I believe
a hundred thousand dollars to write a
letter and generally he's going to
expect a percentage of revenue that the
letter does over time he is by far one
of the highest-paid copywriters in the
game and when he lays out in the
ultimate sales letter is the ultimate
guide to writing sales letters that are
going to work he's got some exercises in
there he talks a lot about handwriting
out successful sales letters but at some
point in your career you're going to
need to get to the point where you're
writing a sales letter that's going to
hook somebody grab their interest build
some desire in them to purchase that
which you have and that book covers it
in extreme detail if there was one book
you were going to go through to master
the art of copywriting that could very
well be the book it's longer it's
thicker it's a bit more to get through
than the great leaves which is why it's
down a little bit lower on the list but
it's kind of the be-all end-all so when
you're at the point where you realize
the words you're using on your marketing
messaging are so important and you're
ready to sell your products or services
more aggressively through paid ads
through warm market and cold market the
ultimate sales letter is really kind of
that core kind of Education on
copywriting and specifically sales
letter writing that you really have to
understand in order to achieve success
to me copywriting is a lifelong
challenge it's a lifelong study it's
something my wife and I both study from
several mentors and Dan Kennedy has
absolutely been a massive influence in a
positive way for us to really start to
drive sales and get things going next up
number eight is how to write a good
advertisement by Victor Schwab I
couldn't put together my top ten list
without at least one book coming from
pre-1950 Victor Schwab he was an old ad
guy kind of a madman style of
advertising and believe he wrote the
book in 1944 and the reason I like this
book is he goes through headline
and these headlines are really important
and he not only talks about very
successful headlines but he looks at why
they were successful so it not only
gives you examples of what's awesome and
what works and what compels people to
take action but he analyzes why and
often knowing why helps you synthesize
some of these ideas for your content for
your ads for your headlines for your
funnels etc there's another book
honestly that I wanted to put on a list
I'll mention it right now it's
breakthrough advertising and it is out
of print it is by Eugene Schwartz it's
another book from the 40s or 50s
somewhere around there and since it's
out of print the only ones I found on
Amazon were literally going for 600 plus
dollars I couldn't recommend that to you
I didn't include it in the list but
there's some of these old books that I
love another thing about the Victor
Schwab he there's no ninja tactics going
on right there's no hype behind it he's
looking at the core psychology of human
nature although the mechanisms in which
we're consuming content is changing the
internet smartphones etc Facebook and
YouTube etc the core human nature has
not changed human psychology has really
not changed in the last 60 70 years so
everything he talks about still very
applicable to this day and I feel like
reading these older books cut through a
lot of the hype and a lot of the BS that
a lot of these marketers are selling and
their ultimate goals generally is to
sell you some high ticket products
that's not going to actually give you
what you need when if you read some of
these older $10 books you're going to
get the best education on earth when it
comes to this stuff in his day with
Direct Mail Direct Mail is so much more
difficult than what we have to deal with
here on the Internet the time it took to
get feedback loops to know if a headline
won or not was so difficult tracking was
so much more difficult back then so
these guys had the odds stacked against
them and they were still incredibly
successful and that's why I pay
attention to him that combined with the
human psychology still being kind of the
same number 9 we're almost there to the
end the 10x rule by Grant Cardone I've
listened to this I had my wife listen to
this I've reckon
at least five or six entrepreneur
buddies and everyone I know who is
listen to this book or read it loves it
and so I'll give you the whole bit
really like do ten times the work of
anybody else in your niche and you're
going to win that's it
outwork everyone but he goes deeper he
goes into looking at why you have a
responsibility to achieve success for
yourself and for your family it's your
duty to achieve time and financial
freedom by helping people so you can
create a better life for yourself and
for your family it is your duty and then
he really shifts into that out work
everyone mindset loved the book he
brings really good energy in the book
he's got great ideas he is an incredibly
successful sales person who is now an
incredibly set
incredibly successful real estate
investor I believe he bought like a
twenty or twelve or twenty million
dollar apartment complex and for the
last year from his group so this dude is
hustling on a on a massive scale he's
doing big deals he's doing big things
and if you haven't got it for me yet to
outwork everyone is part of the trick go
read the 10x rule and and that will
really set your mind straight
number ten Russell Brunson hits the list
with the dot-com secret the.com secret
he calls it the underground playlists
for internet businesses what I really
like about the dot-com secrets is how
efficient he is at explaining the ideas
of funnels of traffic and really you
know Russell Brunson is really good at
upsells at putting together high ticket
products
he sells I just bought one of his funnel
products recently for I believe two
hundred ninety seven dollars and
honestly it's him maybe a little bit
expanding on the ideas he covers in that
ten dollar book right so he really lays
out every is a core of his understanding
of business and how to grow business
online I mean he has been very
successful and growing a business online
he lays it all out in the book you don't
need to join his $25,000 per year
mastermind because guess what he just
walks people through the exact same
stuff he covers in that book so to me
that's one of the best new school books
it's got a little bit of copywriting
it's got a little bit of funnel
structure it's got a little bit about
traffic it's a
enough little bits and pieces of enough
different things to give you a really
good picture of how the game works
online and it'll help you understand
kind of where you're at in like are you
starting or in the middle or the end and
it'll help kind of fill in some of those
gaps so you can pick up right where
you're at and accelerate forward to grow
your business effectively and that's
really the only thing of russell brunson
that i recommend if you search for him
or you look around or you follow him he
is a fired up marketer he's always
dropping new products he's always
dropping new things for you to buy I
don't recommend buying his info product
I don't recommend buying his software
just by the ten dollar book and you'll
get absolutely everything that you need
from that ten dollar book everything
else he does is over price and it's a
little bit buggy in my personal opinion
so that's it I cover the top ten book
