What Is Inbound Marketing & Why Is It A Key To Your Success Online?

hey miles Beckler here miles becker calm
and this video is about inbound
marketing now what is inbound marketing
it's essentially the process of
educating your customer and putting out
quality content to attract your customer
into your kind of ecosystem before you
ever go to actually offer them something
to convert through so before you go for
the opt-in before you go for the sale
you're focused on giving content to them
now this is really a powerful technique
and it's a powerful way for you to kind
of get your brand out there at the
awareness level and my wife and I have
been using this strategy very
effectively for several years and at
this point it's causing all kinds of
kind of hidden benefits and I think it's
important for you as you move forward
with your business to remember that some
of these kind of touch points with your
customer that can come through organic
search engine optimization it can go
through Pinterest it can be just a post
to your fan page it can be an Instagram
post these little tou
ch points can have
long reaching and far-reaching effects
in your entire marketing strategy so how
do my wife and I use this first and
foremost we're very active moving
forward in as many directions as we can
at the exact same time in any given day
we're publishing to Pinterest YouTube
our blog on WordPress to Facebook to
Twitter Instagram like everywhere we
possibly can anywhere that has the
attention of our target market we're
there and we're putting out goodwill
content we're putting out content that
just makes them feel good on Facebook it
makes them click the like button on
Pinterest it makes them click the repin
button and pin it to their boards for
every niche market and everyone out
there it's different right this doesn't
mean the same thing for every single
marketplace and sometimes not every
platform makes sense to be on for every
market but here's what actually happens
and here's where the power really comes
into play if you're successfully using
an inbound marketing campaign what's
happening is on autopilot you're making
connections and touch points with your
audience you're introducing your
philosophies your ideas your kind of
point of view on the way
your niche works etc and that is 100%
automated the largest place for this for
us is definitely through our wordpress
blog and through our organic SEO efforts
that we've been building for years and
years and you'll probably notice on this
channel I talk a lot about SEO YouTube
SEO Google SEO and the reason is because
once you put out and develop an audience
and you get that content out there it
has a very long shelf life on Facebook
for example when you go publish
something on Facebook it has a very
short shelf life it doesn't take long
for Facebook's algorithm and the amount
of noise on the facebook ecosystem to
essentially bury that item whereas if
you spend your time putting out a really
really detailed super powerful
beneficial blog post about a specific
solution and problem that your target
market will see that blog post can gain
traffic from Google for years and years
and years and what happens with that
traffic well number one they definitely
can see your opt-in kind of offers
around whether you use pop-ups in text
ads image ads or kind of ribbons on the
top of your site the other thing that
you're doing is you're planting your
Facebook retargeting pixel your google
retargeting pixel your admiral
retargeting pixel and you're kind of
opening yourself up to the possibility
of doing retargeting but maybe possibly
the most powerful thing you're doing
you're leveraging an organic tool
something they trust in this situation
I'm speaking up would be Google right
they go they type in their problem or
they type in the solution they're
looking for on Google that user trusts
Google and that user trusts the results
that Google returns so when you show up
as a result there is an inferred level
of trust between that user and your site
that you get to leverage from Google
because the Google algorithm returned
you as a positive search result then
they go in and consume your contact and
if you've ever heard the old sales
analogy or the old sales concept that it
takes seven touches just to make a sale
kind of old inbound or inside or outside
sales tactic or technique that you need
to stay in touch with people the fortune
in the follow up people say right so in
order for you to make five six seven
touch points with these individuals you
can actually automate this process
through inbound marketing so they might
go to Google to start they might search
in a search phrase that actually leads
them to one of your blog posts they
might read your blog post and in there
there's one of your videos they click
this video then loads on YouTube touch
point number two now they watch one of
your videos and they're like wow this is
really actually quite good then they
watch another one of your videos touch
point number three then at the end of
this video they look and they see your
social media kind of links to your
different social media profiles down
below and they click over to Facebook
and they look at your Facebook page
this is touch point number four then
they're looking at your Facebook page
like wow I really like this they click
the like button now they're kind of
taking a step towards connecting with
you and the big picture then they see a
link on Facebook that you just posted to
another great article that's relevant
they click there back on your website at
this point and in the process of 5 10 15
minutes you've been able to touch them
right you've had five six seven
different touch points on multiple
different platforms that all work
together their platforms that this user
trusts right they trust YouTube they
trust Google they trust their Facebook
account they're comfortable in these
platforms and they've just encountered
you and your content in all of those
places this leaves them with a feeling
of wow this person really knows what
they're talking about and my goodness
they're everywhere they've got content
everywhere this is amazing and one of
two things happens at this point number
one they dig deeper and they go deeper
into your content I call it going down
the rabbit hole right they just consume
more and more of your content and they
effectively build a relationship with
you this channel is a great example I
get people leaving in the comments like
miles I just found your videos and man
I've been watched you all weekend every
video becomes a touch point and after
the course of an hour or two hours or
three hours of watching these videos
there's a feeling of like wow I kind of
know this guy I kind of like I feel
rapport with miles I feel like he's a
friend I kind of get him which is true
partially mainly because I'm being very
awful
dick and I'm trying to be very real with
you right I'm not putting on a mask I'm
not putting on a facade here I'm just
being me and laying it out how it is and
you can do this for your audience and
your target market there's so many
benefits to this I talked a lot about
Facebook pay-per-click and in the next
video I'm actually going to explain how
this has worked really well to kind of
help my facebook marketing but I wanted
to make sure the core concept is really
really well established right now and
this is why my wife and I have been so
focused and so gung-ho on creating so
much content for all the different
platforms and the last thing I want to
kind of make sure I help communicate
here that's so vitally important in this
day and age it's not about creating one
piece of content and syndicating it out
to all the different platforms it is
very very important to take time to
understand each and every platform and
create a specific piece of content for
each of these platforms what do I mean
by this well to use the most basic kind
of example let's talk about an image
right an image on Instagram is designed
to be a perfect square so we want to
make sure when we're publishing to
Instagram we're using a perfect square
based images that matches their kind of
design what that user interface is
designed to hold which again is a
perfect square on Pinterest we have a
very tall and slender image right it's
not very wide and it's really tall
because that's how Pinterest is designed
that's how the user interface works so
we might have the same background we
might have the same text but we're
actually gonna create a separate image
for each of those platforms what about
Facebook yet again it's totally
different
Facebook is kind of wide and short kind
of like a television kind of widescreen
shape right so we would then create
another version for our Facebook account
that fits in the facebook interface
perfectly so as we go forth let's say we
complete a really great blog post on a
specific topic at that point what we end
up doing is we create multiple Pinterest
size images we create multiple Instagram
shaped images we create multiple
Facebook shaped images
all of them go into the post and then
that actually goes out to each of the
platforms to link back to the post and
for video of course we create a separate
unique video if you've seen any of my
blog posts at miles Becker calm that are
relevant to the videos you'll notice
they're not just transcriptions I'm not
just siphoning off the text and shoving
it into a blog post I'm actually working
with a writer and an editor to make sure
that that content is very very readable
right I could try to take the shortcut
which is actually shooting myself in the
foot because when you read
transcriptions they're kind of funny
right I talk I gab a lot I use a lot of
extra words that don't need to be used
so I have to make sure and honor the
platform of WordPress and the written
word and have a professional go through
and take it and really craft the message
in a written way so it's clear it's
concise it gives them what they want
it's in and it's out so again we're
catering the content we're catering the
message to the platform that is going on
to make sure it's great and this is kind
of the big picture the big idea around
inbound marketing now when we first
started we were pretty much only pushing
out content we were putting it on our
blog and we were pushing it out through
Twitter right and then we started adding
a few YouTube videos here and there when
Facebook grain gain traction in about oh
four oh five 2010 2011 excuse me my main
I just did a time-warp there when
Facebook really started to gain traction
and the fan pages came out we started to
put more content on there and at this
point remember we've been building this
business for like eight nine years so
you don't have to necessarily go out to
every single platform and Excel on every
platform find the ones that match your
personality type and your DNA and what
you enjoy most and get really really
good at those for me it's been YouTube
and I'm really focusing in on YouTube I
don't have a fan page yet I don't really
care I kind of do the Instagram thing at
miles back there by the way but I really
it's not I'm not great in that ecosystem
I'm barely on Pinterest but for me it's
YouTube all the way and then I've got my
wordpress blog and that's kind of a
one-two punch and that's all I have time
for right now so that's what I'm doing
but for you
we need to make sure your planning and
executing an inbound marketing campaign
that's going to help you get touch
points with your customer avatar with
your target market it can automate the
process you want to do so in a way that
gives you a long shelf life of your
content just like how my old videos are
bringing in lots of views and these new
videos are and also with the blog right
you want something that when you put in
the effort to create the content it's
going to live there on that platform for
a while and it's going to kind of get
you residual I don't want the income per
se but benefits from the effort you put
in right you can get traffic for years
and years and years and years on one
great blog post you put out a
spectacular video that really helps
people and that thing can get tens
hundreds of thousands millions of views
over the course of years and all you had
to do was create it once so as you're
growing your business and even as you're
doing Facebook pay-per-click try to keep
in mind how can I create additional
content that's going to meet my users
where they are it's going to introduce
me to my users it's going to help
educate them on their problems on their
solution it can educate them to the next
level of awareness that we talked about
in one of the previous videos and you
can set these systems up to automate and
in the next video as I said I'm gonna
show you exactly how this ties into a
facebook pay-per-click campaign and how
that's actually going to increase kind
of the the benefit or increase the value
of your Facebook pay-per-click campaign
by having a solid inbound marketing plan
inbound marketing system in place
whether you choose YouTube or WordPress
or social media marketing etc all right
I had to get that point across it's been
really powerful for my wife and I and if
you've ever looked at the channel to
like miles you're like you're talking
about video marketing and SEO and your
pay-per-click like are you doing
everything yes I am doing everything and
this is exactly why because it's inbound
marketing I'm meeting my audience where
they are I'm showing up on the platforms
they're giving attention to introducing
them to my content to my theories my
philosophies to me and I'm kind of going
down the path of these different
touchpoints so that when I do ask for
the sale or I do ask for the opt-in
we've already engaged each other
two three four five six seven times and
the likelihood of that conversion goes
up significantly from there thank you
very much for your time
if you enjoyed this video give me a
thumbs up here in YouTube I do
appreciate it leave me a comment if you
have any questions about this or if
you're kind of curious about your plan
if you want to see if your inbound
marketing strategy is kind of on point
leave me a comment I'm happy to review
that here in the comments and if you
have not subscribed be sure to do so so
I can get you the next video when it
comes out about how this works in
conjunction with Facebook pay-per-click
and all the videos we're gonna get to
beyond that so thanks again for your
time and I look forward to seeing you on
the next video
be well
