and today I'm going to show you how to
build an Instagram following for your
social media marketing clients you can
even use these same concepts and
techniques to build your own personal
following as well I think it's the most
important thing to build an Instagram
following because it's one of the
fastest growing social media platforms
out right now there's about 700 million
users on Instagram and I've seen some
exponential growth on there about three
months ago I was running some Instagram
ads and they weren't getting as good of
engagement as Facebook Ads but I've been
running some recent Instagram Story
advertisements which I show you how to
do in the social media marketing course
but I've been getting tons of engagement
way more than Facebook and I've been
getting better conversions but let's
kind of jump back to Instagram and
building the following why is this
important for your social media
marketing clients we want to reach out
to as many people as possible right we
seeing your Instagram page or your
social media marketing clients Instagram
page their business page so I'm going to
show you how to use various apps
techniques such as the follow unfollow
and I'm going to show you why that's
important so let's jump on my computer
we're going to I'm going to show you an
app that I personally use to build my
clients Instagram pages so let's do it
all right so we're here on my iPhone and
we're going to go ahead and build our
Instagram following for our social media
marketing client okay and for these for
this purpose I'm just going to go on my
Instagram and I'm going to show you
exactly how to build a following for
your client on building a following is
gaining more exposure more leads and
more ultimately sales because you know
with the business page that you're
managing they probably have an email
button or a call button or you know
a directions button so and probably
their URL to their website so I'm going
to show you how to build a following and
why that's important so let's just say
we're doing a building a following for a
real estate agent okay you have to
remember who is going to like their
content right who's going to like
pictures of real estate agents content
such as you know estate pictures
pictures of the city pictures of real
estate agents whatever it may be
who's going to enjoy that content and
who's actually going to maybe be
interested in real estate services right
someone who's looking for a home someone
who already follows multiple real estate
agents who is looking for the perfect
one to help them buy or sell a home so
what we're going to do is we're going to
look up you know a top real estate agent
right one that has tons of followers
that has followers that are highly
engaged with that type of content right
so because we want to get our real
estate agent
lots of likes lots lots of post
engagement and overall a lot a lot more
leads so we're going to look up you know
we're going to look up Josh Altman okay
so we have Josh Altman here this is a
big real estate agent in Beverly Hills
right let's just say our real estate
agent that we're managing their social
media is based in LA this was perfect
we found a you know a real estate agent
that's doing very well in this industry
that's also in LA that has a big
following so what we're going to do is
go on his followers right so we're going
to click on his three hundred twenty
three thousand followers and what I want
you to do is literally follow 50 people
okay no more than 50 I would say every
hour okay because Instagram does have
you know an algorithm that can see if
you're following you know way too many
people if it looks if it looks like it's
you know by a bot and not by a person
they'll
by your account and we don't want that
to happen so what I say is I recommend
you know this is what I do I don't
follow
more than 50 people per hour okay so
what we're going to do is we're just
going to go down this list and start
following all these people okay and why
are we doing this okay what is the point
of following people okay when we follow
someone they're going to get a
notification right they're going to get
a notification that says right this
person we just followed right now and
they followed us back foot they're going
to get a notification that says you know
you followed them and when it says oh
you know this real estate agent followed
you they're most likely going to click
on the page on your page and there they
might look around they might say oh wow
there's some really nice real estate
pictures oh wow you know I'm actually
looking to sell my home and I need help
from a local real estate agent this one
looks very credible he or she has a very
nice profile page and look at it I can
go ahead and email them or go onto their
website right that's the whole point
okay more exposure it's getting more
people seeing your name and that
building a following you know combined
with running advertisements is very
powerful because now this person see
that it sees that you follow them right
they're looking for a local real estate
agent and then they go ahead and they
see your advertisement they sell you
twice so that's that's mainly how I jump
start to build a following for my
clients is I utilize that method okay so
I'll go on a big you know real estate
agents page and I'll just follow a bunch
of people and usually I get some
engagement back usually I get you know
for every hundred people I follow I get
maybe 25 followers back for the clients
page and which is really good because I
have those 25 people that I follow you
know I get two to three messages for
that client right those are leads maybe
asking like you know
how do you know are you in the area can
you help me sell my home you know that
kind of stuff so that's how we build a
following so another thing that we want
to do is we want to keep the ratio
proportional okay so we want to be we
want to keep the followers larger than
the following okay why is that why does
that even matter why is that a thing
well the the reason why we want to keep
the following small is because it builds
perceived value okay for consumers when
consumers are looking to purchase
products they want to see that oh wow
this person you know has a big following
but they're not following that many
people they must be exclusive right if
you look at for instance we'll look at
the rock right Dwayne Johnson you look
at the rocks page
he has eighty-seven point seven million
followers and he's only following 178
he's pretty exclusive he's not just
going to follow anyone it builds
perceived value so that's the reason we
want to keep the followers larger than
the following and right he's got his uh
you know URL right here watch the
trailer for his new movie so this is
kind of what we want to do and how do we
keep the the following small right so it
does take a long time to if you go in
here on my following it takes a long
time to you know unfollow people right
if you were to manually unfollow people
it's going to take you forever so how do
we speed up that process well I like to
use an app called clean it's called into
the cleaner it's right here on the
second actually the fifth row so it's
called cleaner we're going to click on a
cleaner it's right under Facebook okay
and you can find this in the App Store
insta cleaner Oh glass and it's very
easy because I like this app because it
you can bulk unfollow people right and
we
keep it 50 or under each time because
again we don't want to get our clients
account flagged or anything like that so
we keep it minimal we keep it small and
how you do that how do you bulk unfollow
people you can click you know click here
and then kind of scroll up a bit click
here quick select select segment and you
selected 33 users right that's under 50
perfect you know do that every hour and
you're going to go to actions unfollow
start now right and now this app is
going to bulk unfollow people to keep
that perceived value okay so that's a
way to build a following in organically
um that is I usually do 30% in organic
so I do it through follow unfollow then
I keep it 70 percent organic and how do
we do organic following okay organic
following takes a little bit more time
but let's just say we're trying to build
that real estate agents paid again right
and you can ask him or her um is there
maybe a generic type of message that you
send out in your email marketing list
that we could send through to people
through Instagram right and you can
literally do the same thing go back to
Josh Altman's page okay go back to Josh
Altman's page go on there his followers
and you can click on you know any random
person all right we're giving this
person to shout out you can click on
this person right hand corner I would
click on that and you could send a
message okay and what I recommend is you
know maybe you get a clip of your real
estate agent saying hi my name is Ryan
Hildreth I'm a local real estate agent
an area I just I'm just reaching out to
new people
you're looking to buy or sell a home

maybe interested in buying or selling
their homes feel free to send me a

services send right and I would do that
twenty to thirty times a day okay and
that's also going to build your
following organically because let's just
say this person isn't interested in your
services but they like your page they'll
probably go ahead and follow you so
that's another way of building a
following organically and I do that for
my own personal brand very often I send
out twenty to thirty messages a day
video messages connecting with people on
different topics so you know you can
utilize either strategy I say you you
know keep your organic seventy percent
your in organic thirty percent the
follow one follows thirty percent
because really the organic following
you're going to be more engaged those
people are going to up you know last
longer you know probably follow your
page for longer because you actually
connected with them you sent them a

very helpful tool to get awareness
spread your name having people see your
name multiple times and then you're able
to you know utilize this app to keep
