2017 Numbers Revealed! Auditing Your Achievements in 2017 To Scale Your Online Business In 2018



hey miles here miles Beckler calm this
video is all about scaling your business
and tooling up in 2018 today is the 30th
of December I've just finished a really
big audit of my main business website my
main niche authority site out of that
audit I pulled a bunch of statistics
from how well we did that's all on the
board I'm gonna share it all with you
here but most importantly I want to
share how I've taken these statistical
kind of data points that I was able to
pull from my main business to plan how
I'm going to approach 2018 to scale my
business in 2018 the big picture goal of
this video is to help you understand how
you can look at what's working and
what's not working in your business so
you can also set a plan to make 2018
your best year ever I'm gonna be adding
on some new tools I'm gonna be adding on
some new teammates in 2018 and I'll
share exactly who and what I'm adding on
here at the end of the video but first
let's jump into the numbers so I've
gotten Google Analytics data Facebook
pay-per-click data and then data from my
shopping cart and my email list so let's
jump right in the first numbers that I
found very interesting is what we got
from Google Analytics so in the past
year in 2017 we had over five million
unique visitors to our main niche
authority website we had 8.2 million
separate video visits which means over
half of these people came back a second
time and then we had 22 million
pageviews delivered in about a 360
three-day period because we're not quite
at the end of the year yet so what this
is showing is the results of our past
content marketing effort now this does
include all sources of traffic both
organic direct which is people coming
from our email list and social as well
so what I'm looking for when I'm looking
at these numbers is ok this is the whole
pie essentially where's my 80 in that
pie right the 80/20 principle the Pareto
principle where
the 80% of the results coming from that
creates all of this well it wasn't too
difficult to find comes from two
locations the first place it's coming
from is from organic Google search
engine traffic 62.7%
of all of this traffic has come from
Google search engine results that is a
result of our past content marketing
efforts which is exactly why I recommend
people do a 90 day challenge my wife
began this site on WordPress with a 90
day blogging challenge with written
content and she still is a very active
content marketer and she is very very
active in keyword research also so
that's why that number is so big and
remember we've been doing this for about
nine years so this is the compounding
results of nine years of consistent
content marketing efforts then you'll
notice 15.5% of this pie right the 15.5%
slice and pie comes from social media
marketing now I've explained in the past
our entire Instagram approach and our
Pinterest approach those are on
autopilot no change to those next year
our growth curve is great our team is
managing all of that work we're gonna
let that ride but really the bulk of
this is actually coming from our
Facebook paid traffic and obviously this
is coming from the search engines
themselves so if you add those two
numbers together we're just under a
percent away from 80 percent so this is
my 80 percent and in the new year I want
to make sure that the 20% extra of my
attention focus and budget is going that
creates the 80 percent result in my
business so now I've just right through
the basic numbers looking at where's all
my acquisition traffic it's under the
acquisition tab in Google Analytics that
I pulled this data from now that I see
that I know where to focus the second
place I audited was my Facebook Ads
account so in this past year I spent
about forty three thousand five hundred
dollars on Facebook Ads
I reached 1.7 million individuals 5.5
million impressions and about 65,000
leads generated now the first thing I
want you to pay attention to is how big
this number actually these numbers are
really compared to these numbers down
here right so I literally reached and
that means I showed up on 1.7 million
people's timelines right
I showed up multiple times for these
people but I ultimately reached 1.7
million people and of this a few hundred
thousand clicked now if you look up here
I'm literally connecting with millions
and millions of people so if you use the
basic math down here right the value of
traffic if you were to do the basic math
on this and I didn't am NOT going to
because big numbers in my internal
calculators not programmed on a Saturday
morning this is hundreds of thousands of
dollars worth of traffic is ultimately
what I'm trying to show you right like
if I reached 1.7 million people and
maybe 10 to 20 I would say 20 percent of
those click through so maybe 300,000
visits for 43 thousand dollars that's 10
15 20 15 times the amount of traffic
here 15 times that number is an
absolutely absurd number now the value
of traffic sources is clearly different
I get that but I'm trying to put into
perspective the long-term value of
content marketing what I do like about
this and you'll see how powerful it
really was is the number of leads we
generated and how consistent this lead
generation has been for us so for forty
three thousand dollars and about sixty
five thousand leads I think that
averages out right around 70 to 72 cents
per lead that's well within my kind of
historical KPIs and that's growing
quickly and I really enjoy that traffic
because I joy the list growth our list
today is over a hundred and seventy
thousand subscribers and cruising
forward at a very steady pace now these
subscribers that come from paid Facebook
ads do have a higher likelihood of
unsubscribing they're a cold traffic
source subscribers who come in through
our organic traffic specifically through
the Google side of things they tend to
stick around with us longer either way
I'll take both
and I know this Facebook Ads game is
changing the difficulties going up
because there's more advertisers getting
into the space the costs are going up
because Facebook hates us and continues
to squeeze us for more money because
Facebook cares more about their
investors than they do about the
marketers on the platform and I just
know that over time Facebook is a dying
platform whether it's currently in that
death null or not eventually this is
going to die out in my personal opinion
before this dies out so what that means
is I want to get as much of this as I
can while the getting is still good
let's look at this last set of numbers
and then I'm gonna share with you who
I'm adding on my team and what I'm
adding on to my team to grow it in the
next year so the last places I want to
share is what came through my email
autoresponder and my shopping cart
because ultimately that's what moves the
needle in my business the number of
leads in the number of sales so over the
course of the year now small caveat
you'll notice I've got since April here
and I've got since April here I migrated
my list to a new platform in April it
actually started late February and I it
took over a month to move all of my
subscribers so I didn't start getting
clean new subscriber data until about
four months into the year so these
numbers are not perfect but they give me
a good enough kind of understanding of
where we are to make an educated
decision moving forward in total I've
brought in about ninety two thousand and
three hundred subscribers since April
and this is where I'm saying you know
Facebook really truly generated a ton of
those subscribers for us if you just
look how close these numbers are this is
about two-thirds roughly maybe even more
than two-thirds of it I brought in a
total of seven thousand five hundred
customers and this is only to our main
website where we sell one-off items I'm
not counting my membership program to me
that's pure profit because people who
come in through these sources ultimately
end up at our membership on for a
monthly with an average customer value
there on that of
of a hundred and thirty plus dollars per
member so that's outside of this this is
simply what I consider the front end of
my funnel
that's all I'm monitoring right now is
the front end the back end is pure
profit and that's working really well so
again
ninety two thousand total subscribers
coming in since April
I brought about seventy or eighty
thousand subscribers in that list
migration so there was a large amount of
subscribers before them and about a
quarter of these came in January
February March also I was running a ads
very aggressively in the beginning of
last year so so those numbers were a
little goofy and I apologize but that's
just the nature of the business 7,500
customers came in through my main
shopping carts and we sent a hundred and
sixty broadcast emails since April so if
you do the math on that in eight months
a hundred and sixty broadcast emails
my wife's emailing her list on average
20 times per month if you think about
that's that's four or five times per
week on average depending on the month
right if it's a four week month or a
five week month so when we say that you
got a published content all the time you
got a run consistent ads and then you
got to email your list you got to follow
up your list consistently that's the
proof in the pudding and literally a lot
of these when you're emailing three four
or five times a week you can be giving
giving giving and putting out an offer
once a week and still be delivering
enough value for that so in this the the
fact that she was able to email 160
times means she was able to send more
offers than if she had only emailed 20
times or 40 times or 60 times right
because Jab Jab Jab right hook for every
third give we are able to send an offer
so by sending more emails in total we've
sent more give based emails meaning we
sent more offer based email which means
that we've generated more customers now
none of this counts our affiliate
recommendation products and again our
membership program which is doing
incredibly well but these are the KPIs
that I as the CEO monitor to make sure
the health of our business is solid this
is what's coming
the door right and I'm monitor and I
work with our membership program
separately on our retention or stick
rate on keeping them on as long as we
can
my wife's very active on that as well
but as long as we're bringing in a whole
lot more people than are leaving our
membership program we are absolutely
money and currently this is working
wonders so out of all of this data right
I've mined the data I pulled these bits
out and I decided to share them with you
here and my thoughts running like okay
where do I want to put my time my energy
and my corporate resources right our
profits because I'll be honest with you
my wife and I we pay ourselves a very
small salary based on the income of our
corporation and the reason for this is
we're focused mainly on growth at this
phase and what are we trying to grow
really it's these two numbers down here
it's our leads list and our customer
list are the two lists that were willing
to invest more in now we pay ourselves a
reasonable salary that allows us to live
the life we want but we really focus on
dumping that the resources back into
into the company to grow those two
numbers because that is a long-term
vision that's the delaying gratification
visit vision so where am I going to be
focusing my energy in the new year
well it's here and here to be honest
with you so what I'm gonna be doing is
hiring two separate teams to come in and
work with my business but in order for
me to do this I need to add on a new
tool and the new tool we'll start with
the first team which is gonna be the
Facebook pay-per-click team I'm actually
going to be bringing in a team that's
gonna help me with Facebook Ads they're
gonna manage the Facebook Ads I've found
a team that that understands my approach
to Facebook advertising they're also
gonna help us with copywriting on the
landing pages and they're gonna run
split tests for us now currently my main
web site is built on thrive themes and I
run all of my funnels in thrive but I
don't want to give a third party access
to my main website there's too much
potential for disaster because we get
five million visits a year right if you
break that down that that's well over a
half million visits a month
a lot of that's coming from our
WordPress site where our funnels live so
I want to divide and conquer and I'm
going to be signing up with insta pages
which is a landing page building
software I'm also an affiliate for this

gonna be my newest tool moving forward
now there's a lot of options in the
landing page software that I could have
chosen and I chose this one for a very
specific reason number one it doesn't
include a shopping cart I really need
something that's focused on conversion
optimization only I don't want a be
everything to everyone solution aka
click funnels have also had a very very
difficult time with the bugs and the
lack of support from their system then
it's kind of them or leadpages back in
the day I used leadpages and I had a
really challenging situation when they
updated their system it wiped out
everything that I had done on my
wordpress site through leadpages and
their support was kind of like that's
your problem buddy and I was able to
debug it to where it was something from
an update that they did and their
investor-owned if you know me I don't
love going for investor owned companies
because I realized that when a company
is owned by investors their number one
goal is to maximize profits for the
investors because those investors are
seeking an ROI more than the team is
seeking to create the best tool in the
world so the things that insta pages
does that no one else does the heat
mapping tool is really powerful so a
heat map is where you can see where they
hover the mouse and where the eye hangs
on the page so you can get a new layer
of data a new data point on your squeeze
pages for a conversion rate optimization
to understand where is their attention
going and if it's not going from your
headline to your offer to your button
and they're getting confused up here in
the corner on a picture or something
being able to know that allows you to
rectify those sorts of problems it comes
highly recommended from two friends of
mine who have been using it very
consistently really really well so
that's what I'm going to be moving
within the New Year if you've been

future but right now I'm my first goal
my first step is to take the funnel that
I'm sending this to which is currently
on WordPress and duplicated out
identical on the new system then I'm
gonna hand that over to the new team and
they're gonna begin to run split tests
with new headlines to work to beat the
conversion rates that I'm already
getting because one of my biggest goals
for next year is to at least double this
number I would love to spend $100,000 in
Facebook advertisements next year I had
the budget to be able to do that this
year
but I didn't have the time and the
attention to dedicate to it which has
brought why I'm bringing on a team and
then I'm giving that team a new tool and
they're gonna be pretty much
self-sufficient with like weekly kind of
updates and conversations like I'm gonna
help guide them of course but I'm really
my goal is I'm bringing on a high high
level team to really run with that so we
can automate the process of this mainly
this going way way way up I want to see
a hundred thousand leads I would love to
see a hundred thousand leads I spend a
hundred thousand dollars with the same
numbers I have I should see about one
hundred and thirty thousand new leads in
the next year and I'm trying to get that
while they're getting still good before
Facebook changes those numbers too much
and makes it like not cost-effective or
who knows what they're doing they're
rolling out all kinds of crazy changes
one after another so that's the first
kind of focus of my approach the second
place we're gonna focus is towards the
organic search engine traffic we have an
insane amount of data inside of our
Google Analytics account and inside of
our Google Webmaster Tools account I'm
gonna hire a team or an individual for
SEO to essentially do data mining and
site audits what they're gonna be
looking for and I'll share with you how
this is rolling out for us over time but
what they're mainly looking for is what
pages do we have that drive leads right
because it's always got to come back to
the
it's always coming back to here that
drive leads and sales that people are
entering on through the search engines
that are also sitting in the number six
- number 12 spot if we can identify
there's 20 pages or posts on our site
that are sitting in the number six -
number 12 but they draw a high
percentage of leads and a high
percentage of sales I know that it's
worthy of my time Melanie's time to
improve those posts to increase in the
rankings so we are able to get more
traffic because we've proven the traffic
that hits those posts turns into leads
and sales so someone's gonna have to
actually mine this out I don't have
goals set up in place to generate this
report automatically I'm assuming it's
going to cost somewhere to the tune of
three to five thousand dollars probably
about a month of time for you know 30
hours a week for almost a month for a
just a a big data supergeek and
analytics to really go in and find where
these opportunities are and then that's
gonna be Melanie's top priority with her
content marketing in the new year
one kind of hack that we're shooting for
is the first place we're gonna go look
is at the title tags and the description
tags and we're gonna try to make them
more click Beatty is not a good answer
we're gonna make them more humoral er
gonna make them more appealing to try to
get a higher click-through rate with the
goal of getting that click-through rate
on ours if we get a higher click-through
rate more in the number six spot our
competitors are getting a lower
click-through rate in the number four
spot that can be enough to inch us up in
the rankings and we're also gonna turn
them into mega posts if they're not
already 3,000 4,000 and 5,000 words
those two approaches are how we're going
to be moving forward on our main
business and this again is my main
business I'm still gonna be putting out
my videos three times a week at least
for you I have a plan to still do more
live streams here on the YouTube channel
and I'm definitely gonna document how
this YouTube channel growth continues to
go but it's important for me to continue
to remind you that this channel you're
watching right now is kind of like a
hobby this is my side project this is my
sidekick this is my main business and
day-to-day I'm still very very in the
trenches I'm in the
with this I spend some time in the
clouds like we've done today analyzing
what's worked game planning where we're
going right everything I want to do on
my business is always focused on
strategy because strategic action is
what grows businesses quickly I'm
treating it like a startup which is why
I'm reinvesting our profits in growth
more than paying myself out I don't need
a supercar I don't need a fancy mansion
I don't want to live a jet-set lifestyle
I want to live a frugal kind of balanced
enjoyable lifestyle that I love while
reinvesting inside of this business
because this is my longevity this is my
retire early and retire comfortably
machine that I'm still building to this
day this is my authority site and this
is my profitable funnel so that's what
we're gonna do moving forward I hope you

all right where was I how do those
numbers compare cuz I don't have this
data from last year so this is maybe a
new annual tradition figured I'd give
you an opportunity to see a little bit
more inside of my main business how its
operating the kinds of results that
we're getting you notice I don't care
about income I'm not sharing income I I
will not ever share income reports with
you because it's not about the income
the real focus is the customer list and
the leads list and when you treat them
like the the royalty that they deserve
to be treated like right we put their
needs ahead of ours it's not about me
getting money it's about us being of
service to these individual
right here these hundred thousand people
are the most important people to the
world to us these are our clients we
always have their best interest in mind
that's how we grow the business and
that's why I stay focused on what pieces
of content are our best people finding
what ads are our best people clicking on
what audiences on Facebook right what
what interests on Facebook contain our
best possible audiences and then how can
we give lots of value to these
individuals in our audience through
emails through content marketing through
social media marketing that's the name
of the game when you get that right the
rest of the business works and I
personally recommend you make the
decision to invest in your business
because that is an investment in your
future that is an investment in wealth
having a business like this that runs
and that will continue to generate
millions of visits per year whether you
are physically working on it or not that
my friend is a pretty powerful situation
to be it's not passive by any means
nothing here it's passive there is no
passive income going down on
this channel what there is going down
here is residual results from efforts we
took in the past compounding with the
results of the efforts we're putting in
now I implore you to take some time here
at the end of 2018 or in the end of 2017
or in early 2018 to look back go through
your data go through your ad account go
through your analytics account what
worked what didn't work what shows you
the best ray of hope for next year and
allow the data to drive your decisions
on where you're gonna focus your time
and energy next year and then I look
