in this video I'm gonna be showing you
how you can add a cookie consent banner
it's one of those pop-ups you've really
seen them on other websites they are
quite annoying they appear when you
basically accept them or whatever in
order to you use the site and get
cookies to link a requirement in the EU
not sure about any us but it probably is
as well it's basically a good thing to
have and you know makes your website
look legit and all that kind of stuff
I found a great service that offers a
wordpress plugin making it really easy
to add on these boxes and link through
to your privacy policies and your cookie
policies now if you don't already have a
privacy policy and a cookie policy you
wanna check out another video that I've
got on the channel I'll put a link up in
a card and in that video I explain how
you can easily generate these documents
without the need for a lawyer so anyway
let's get on with adding one of those
annoying cookie consent pop-up banner
things let's go

gonna be adding one of those cookie can
set banners I've already said that I
don't need to say it again I don't think
it's a league requires or exciting or
anything like that but it's something
that you need to do really so let's get
through it as quick as we possibly can
and get our sites fully compliant now
before I get on the laptop and show you
exactly what we need to do if you're new
to the channel

computer let's get this consent pop-up
banner thing up and running let's go
some over a bow our tech code UK which
is an Amazon affiliate site I'm sure a
lot of you already know this by now
I use this site quite a lot in my videos
and in fact I created a video full
length video on how to create a site
just like this you'll find links to all
these things in the description of this
video but anyway in my last video I
created a privacy privacy I don't know I
created one of those policies anyway up
here and I created a cookie policy so if
you haven't already got these two
documents do check out that video I use
a fantastic service to create these
documents and in fact I'm gonna be using
that service again right now to create
the cookie consent box so yeah I created
these great documents all around privacy
and they're all fully legal and gdpr
compliant and all that stuff so yeah do
check out that video link in description
I already said that so once you've got
your cookie policy and your privacy
policy you're gonna want to and the
pop-up message that annoying popup
message that you see on so many websites
that allow people to accept that you are
using cookies and accept that they can
have a cookie in their browser when
they're viewing your site so the service
I'm going to be using to do this is here
is called au bender e
bender yeah I don't know what it's
called I'm still struggling to pronounce
it but it's this service here I'll put a
link up right now is an affiliate link
so if you use it thank you very much
though they offer quite a lot of their
services for free so depending on what
your going to do with it
it's gonna have an effect on how much
you have to pay and if you do have to
pay it's very very cheap for five sites
it's only nine dollars a month for one
site it's only something like twenty
seven dollars a year so very good value
you get a full legal support and stuff
is like getting a lawyer but much
cheaper so I'm gonna head into my
dashboard I'm already signed up and all
that kind of stuff select my site which
is this one I'll see you Bauer tick and
then I'm gonna go to cookie solution and
click Edit then if I've already created
one maybe have anyway so here's what's
going to pop up this lovely boring
notice you know it toppled the bottom
boxing I think and the bottom is fine
you can set your color scheme it's an
advanced view up here we I love to go in
advanced views so you can open the
cookie policy in a new window I want to
do that you can have a slide down
animation that sounds good as that oh
yeah we like some sliding animations
consent on scroll I guess that means if
someone starts scrolling they get the
seeder consent and that kind of stuff
here we can adjust the appearance to
whatever we like I mean the black on
white is fine or white on black even so
you can mess around with all this stuff
if you want to there's even some custom
CSS here we can set the cookie policy
URL you can even have default or
customer default it will link off to
this service the EU bender link straight
to their cookie policy I think over
custom and I'm just going to link to
here which is off see my cookie policy
once were happy with all this stuff I
sweat you're not gonna want to mess with
the only thing probably that you are
gonna all doing this advanced thing is
that URL let's click Next now we want to
embed the ballot so there's a whole load
of code here or we can use a plugin
I like plugins plugins are the way
forward so there's a wordpress plugin
let's have a click and a look there it
is so I'm just going to copy this name
go to the site go to the dashboard
scroll down go to plugins add new put it
in the box
the a year bender they should have come
up with a better company anyway I can't
even pronounce that Install Now
then activate there we go it's active so
if we scroll down we now got this new
option over here then we just need to
enter that bit of code in this code box
so let's copy it paste it in here and
then Save Changes so that's all done now
you may want to tick this scripts
blocking box which will automatically
block any other scripts and things I
might running on your site and then it
will re-enable them want someone's
accepted I'm not gonna do that right now
cuz I think it might break the site but
you can play around with that and let's
take a look at the science see if it's
gonna pop up so there we go it's popped
up looking good so what it says it if
you close this banner if you scroll the
page or if you click on something then
you agree to the use of cookies so
that's fair enough you have to click an
accept button let's just check the link
through to the cookie policy is working
there it is it kind of opens it in a
lightbox type thing we could probably
adjust that in the settings if we wanted
to but let's click continue to browse
and it goes so yeah if you wanted to
adjust that the way it kind of pops up
it's gonna be in here let's click Edit
you turn off that scroll thing if you
like until if you just go back into
advanced guess we switched her to open
cookie policy and a new winner what does
that do yeah that just opens it in a
proper page I think I prefer that so I'm
gonna take that but anyway I think we're
all done click Next the good thing is it
should just work because I've added the
code everything so I don't need to you
know update anything on the site now
we're all good so I hope you found that
useful and now you're all gdpr
cookie EU regulation whatever compliant
