hey miles here miles better calm in this
video you're gonna learn how to deal
with trolls haters and naysayers because
along your path to creating the business
that you desire online it's inevitable
that you're going to come across at
least a few trolls haters and naysayers
so we're gonna kind of dissect this and
we're gonna look at why this happens but
I want to give you a few tools and
potential approaches obviously do what's
best for you in your personal situation
wife and my experiences growing
platforms online first and foremost if
you are putting out content and you're
making yourself letting yourself be
vulnerable and you're just kind of
sending out your messages to the world
the trolls will absolutely show up here
on YouTube it is notorious for having
absolutely some of the best trolls in
the world it really is still a very
anonymous kind of inner interaction
place here on YouTube so a lot of the
trolling that happens on YouTube can be
actually quite hurtful quite short and
quite mean the first thing to know is
that when you're getting people trolling
you and you're getting the haters
showing up that's actually a good thing
it means that you're getting reached
that YouTube is delivering your videos
or whatever content is getting out and
getting that kind of reaction that
you're actually reaching more people and
not only that but you're triggering some
people emotionally you're moving them to
take action and you might think well but
I don't want this action right I'm not
trying to get trolled I get it totally
no one is trying to get trolled but when
you are moving people that means you're
creating a positive emotional response
in a lot of other people and you're
pushing someone up against their
personal beliefs and their personal
limits and oftentimes this is why they
will kind of snap back at you in
trolling you in the comments etc then
there's another way to look at this too
because you might have some naysayers
who are actually really close to you
when Melanie and I were getting started
we had some family members who were
supportive and we had some family
members who just flat-out didn't get it
and they would kind of remind us like
hey you know you might want to get this
kind of a job or this type of job might
actually be a really good fit for you
and we really were able to just look at
the lifestyle that these kind of family
members of ours have created and the big
question we asked ourselves was do they
out of the financial time and location
freedom that we desire and that we are
creating if not if they weren't living
the lifestyle that we desired to live
and honestly no one in our family has
moved in this direction for this
lifestyle we wanted we discounted what
they said we said okay thank you very
much for your insights and we went back
to work to do our things because we knew
what we were creating now these family
members were separated from us by
distance right we didn't live with them
we weren't in the in the same city with
them even so you may have someone in
your family who's close to you could be
a spouse could be a parent someone who
literally you're living in the same
quarters and you may have to have that
difficult conversation with them and let
them know and really assure them that
your goal is to build something that
offers a greater level of lifestyle
freedom financial freedom and time
freedom and this is gonna take a lot of
time it's gonna take a lot of energy and
the odds are that you're going to have
some big time mistakes and you're going
to fail here but you're going to keep
with it until you truly create that
which you desire and then get back to
work and prove to them that it will work
through your actions through your
relentless efforts through that non-stop
every time we heard those kinds of
things from family members we let that
turn the fire underneath our butts up to
the next level and we took that as
motivation to prove everyone wrong to
prove ourselves that we can do this once
and for all and that's what we did and
we really leverage that for ourselves as
extra motivation now back to the troll'
idea a little bit because there's a
little more to talk about here the first
thing is Melanie and I mentioned this to
each other all the time is don't feed
the trolls right
trolls are trying to get a reaction and
generally speaking a troll is someone
who sees you taking action you're
bettering your lives you're putting out
content you're building a platform
you're getting subscribers and they
aren't doing anything and they want the
result that you're creating but they're
not willing to go through the efforts
the process and the vulnerability and
put out that content so they sit behind
the scenes and they just kind of like
write snippy rude comments because
you're actually pushing them up against
their beliefs what I do on YouTube is I
generally will just block the user
people get one chain
with me and that's it if you troll me if
you come out or if you're trying to spam
something I hit that little flag next to
your comment and I will either report
you as spam which will remove that one
comment or I will hide the user from the
channel you can also click on the
username and under the about above their
channel and or at the flag you'll either
see an about on their channel or you'll
see a little flag click on that and you
can see hide user from channel and their
comments will never again show up on
your channel and just like that you've
eliminated one troll from your reality
so you can get back to work moving
forward putting out your content because
that is what's required now the one
final thing that I really want to share
with you is the greater understanding
that people don't necessarily mean it
right like when someone snaps at you we
don't know what's going on in their
reality we don't know ultimately what is
what they're facing what challenges
they're facing it's best to cut the cord
as cleanly and quickly as possible I've
got one last story this is an example
from my email list so I've been working
on mailing my list every single day I've
been working really hard at an amazing
amount of time to really come up with
some newer fresher better and kind of
deeper ideas about growing your business
online than I do on YouTube I don't just
mail out hey I've got another YouTube
video I try to go deeper than that and
last week I put an affiliate link in and
this is one of the problems when you
give a lot of things away for free
I put an affiliate link in and I got a
reaction from a guy who called me a
hypocrite how dare you I thought you
were my Savior and here you are just
promoting things you're shameless and he
literally ripped me for eight paragraphs
it was an incredibly long email I can't
believe the dude took this long and it
affected me right like Here I am pouring
my heart and soul out trying to give as
much value as I can I mentioned one
product that can be helpful and it
actually is a product that's helpful
it's the only product that serves the
purpose that I mentioned and here he is
just flaming me over it and you know
what I did I replied to him and I let
him know I was like look I'm gonna
mention a tool one of tools good to
mention I didn't kind of retaliate I
didn't necessarily engage him in the way
that a troll wants to be engaged which
is for me to get angry he didn't get a
rise out of me he got an explanation out
of me and then I unsubscribed him and
then I went as far as blocking him for
my email so he actually won't ever be
able to email me ever again and like
that he's done because honestly if there
are people and there are people there
are people out in the world who their
lives are so frustrating so challenging
and here you are working to better
yourself how dare you is their reaction
to you so what do they do they fire at
you they unload on you to try to bring
you down to their level but you're not
gonna do that you're not gonna slip
you're gonna block that off you're gonna
cut the cord immediately and you're
gonna get back to focusing on giving
value most of the people who receive
your content are gonna love it and most
of those people do not comment I've
personally answered over 10,000 comments
here on YouTube I've had 2.5 million
minutes viewed on YouTube most of the
people watch my videos enjoy my content
and don't say a word you have to remind
yourself of that because what we
generally will see and the content we
get back are the frustrated people are
the upset people are the people who
really wish they were taking action who
wished they were turning pro but they
don't have the guts they don't have the
balls they don't have the chutzpah they
don't have the energy or the willingness
to put themselves out there but you do
my friend and know that that means
you're out a little bit in the public
eye and you're going to attract this at
some point pat yourself on the back when
you get your first troll pat yourself on
the back when you get your second troll
it means that you're moving people
you're doing what you need to be doing
and then cut them out of there get them
out so they can't reply to you ever
again use that block user feature use
that unsubscribe get them out of there
get them out of your reality so you can
go back to what's important which is
creating your content publishing your
content and being helpful for that
audience that you're being of service to
they are there they do appreciate
appreciate you they're just quieter than
some of those trolls and haters if
you're watching and you're enjoying
people's YouTube be sure you pop in and
give them positive comments from time to
time it's difficult as a content creator
so leaving little hearts and notes and
just little comments that say good work
