ages we just can't pull the trigger all
sort of things you look for in each what
guidelines okay the first thing is it
should be something that you kind of are
into or at least interested in if you've
got something that you're passionate
about that's even better because it will
inspire you to to work on the site and
create content if you if you can't do
you anything that you're passionate
about the next thing is to just browse
around Amazon and see what was popular I
was in there in the what's hot section
and and all that and then you want to
dig deep you want to get really specific
so for example if you were going into
fitness you wouldn't just go site on
fitness you drill into a certain sport
or activity so you might get into I'm
gonna try and think so random that I've
worked on before they say vibration
training which is very specific and then
you might go more specific in and just
to a site about vibration training at
home and to work different machines and
techniques and that kind of stuff
thinking another sport one maybe you're
doing climbing I'm just thinking of
climbing because I had a video from Doug
the other week about climbing and rather
than going too broad you might take one
aspects of climbing so it might be all
about rope
send those clip things up and what
they're called right now and just do a
site around that and content around that
so Jerry the more specific the better if
it can be a topic that you're passionate
about you'll find it more inspiring to

let's jump straight in I have quite a
high bounce resent if I've said anything
you do to bring this down what kind of
rate do you look for okay looks it
depends on the traffic so I would
looking at a site balance might bounce
mate bounce rate overall isn't
particularly so you want to look at you
know the traffic that you're getting and
watch however it's got the high bounce
rate so it could be that you get in
traffic from somewhere that's not
relevant or it's not particularly tragic
and it's bouncing off is it from ads is
it from SEO if you're running an
affiliate site it could just be and it's
not a bad thing that someone who's
coming to your site there may be ending
up straight onto a product page and or
an article and they're seeing the
product listing they are - and they
think this is great and they read the
article they look at the product and
then they click on one of your external
affiliate links and they go off to the
merchant site so they in theory they've
bounced because they haven't engaged
with any other pages on your site but
you know they've gone off or money
affiliate links which is obviously the
outcome that you wanted so it's not
necessarily a bad thing you need to not
look at bounce rate in isolation and try
and have a look at what that
actually doing so where where are the
exiting I they just came back to Google
or are they going off and exiting via
affiliate link if they're probably gonna
buy affiliate link then don't worry
about that bounce rate nonchalant 84
good evening that's a good question why
would people come to our affiliate
websites and not go to Amazon to buy
products okay it's a couple of reasons
why they would use affiliates and the
first is is that you're helping people
buy you're making it easy for someone to
buy so someone's got a problem so and
they might not necessarily be you know
looking for a product they might be
looking for a solution to a problem so
I'm gonna just go really basic and this
is not a good example because it's
probably not a good niche to go into but
say your example someone's looking to
lose weight and they type into Google
you know the best exercise bike for
losing weight at home something like
that then when you do a search like that
on Google it's unlikely the Amazon is
going to come up and the reason is is
that Amazon does not have any content
that fits that that search particularly
well if you do a search for a particular
exercise bike then Amazon will predict
not first but if someone's looking for a
solution to a problem they generally
find article sites and information sites
which is where the affiliate site comes
in so you have a great article on your
site all about exercise bikes and you
make some recommendations and you help
that person choose an exercise bike and
then they're ready to buy it they click
on your links go to Amazon and buy it so
it's all about adding value and helping
people buy which is why people use
affiliate sites
another example might be that you have a
tutorial on how to do something and in
order to do that thing you need some
particular products so someone comes to
your site they're looking to achieve
certain they're looking to do whatever
you're showing them how to do in theirs
you toriel in your tutorial and yeah
they followed tutorial they buy the
products you recommend and they use your
affiliate links that's why there's two
reasons why I could think of it's on my
head why people go to affiliate sites
and not straight to Amazon
the thing is Amazon is a very
overwhelming site if you just I find it
very difficult to brown them of them
finally if I know what I want very
specific it's fine
type it in fine
by the product is here tomorrow
sometimes it's a the same day I don't
know what I want I find it very
difficult kind of browse and yeah it's
determine what I want I need help with
that and that's where I flew so it's

question is what's the school with tax
the school rataxes is that it's certain
just like death and yeah you're gonna
need to pay tax let me just explain what
I do I'm in the UK and in the UK we have
a couple of ways that you could do it I
don't see I'm no tax advisor or
accountant so take whatever I take say
with a pinch of salt and you should
always take advice from someone who
knows we're talking about when it comes
to tax but anyway in the UK the way I do
I've set up as a company and limited
company so all my earnings they get paid
into the business bank account and then
all that stuff once it goes through my
company book so I have to keep a book
which I do every few months and put all
my earnings through there and all my
expenses and all that kind of stuff and
then I pay my tax that way so the
company pays corporation tax and I pay
tax on the money that I take out the
company has quite a lot of tax involved
which is why I say get an accountant I
have an accountant they deal with it I
pulled stuff through the books and at
the end of the year they say this is how
it takes people to pay one thing to keep
in mind though is when you're in this
kind of money when you get say a
thousand pounds in affiliate commission
obviously depending on your country but
in the UK I need to bear in mind that at
least 20 percent of that has to be put
aside for tax there's a risk risk that
you can get carried away and spend all
your earnings and then have a taxable at
the end of the year if you don't set up
a company the other way to do it is with
the tax return and I'm sure this is the
same in most countries so at the end of
the year you have to you know document
on a form all your earnings whether it
be from Amazon or whoever and again that
will calculate your tax and they'll be
tax to be paid on that the thing is you
can offset your expenses against the
profits so anything that you've spent
towards your affiliate sites
and obviously this can be quite broad
all the way through to the cups of
coffee that you were drinking while you
were making it all that can only texture
into and that can be offset against the
tack so that means you pay less tax so
they see what you earned take away what
you spent and whatever is left is the
profit and that's what you pay taxes on
but I say no tax accountants oh yeah get
advice on that but you will have to pay
tax on all your earnings it's not tax
free Adrienne says of you trying to use
one link but there seems to be a problem
like if in the u.s. account the
advertising man boots and so on for UK
is clicking it shows a trail bag I've
not used the one link thing yet that's
something I need to check out that's
where you can link things together isn't
it so that you can you know promote US
and UK stuff with Amazon I've not really
done it we've wooed and it tends to work
okay so if you sign up just with
amazon.com and Amazon UK put the
different IDs in mudo and that seems to
work fine I might be a bit away doing it

tax for any of those countries so my my
bulk of my earnings does come from
America and what you have to do is you
have to fill in a form I think it's like
a w8 Ben or a v8 Ben it's an American
tax form because you're right what can
happen is American companies if they
think you should be paying tax they may
deduct it from your earnings and pay it
to the US government tax but obviously
we're not US citizens and we're not
working in the u.s. so therefore we
don't need to pay tax in US so you fill
in this form I think it's a wa8 bien
don't quote me on that you fill that and
you give it to the company that's paying
you and then yeah and they just pay you
and then you just put all the earnings
regardless of where it comes from
whether it's the US or the UK or
whatever put it all through the company
so yeah that's what I do obviously put
it for the UK right whatever it whenever
it hits your bank account it will be
converted into pounds and that's the
pound figure that you put through your

to work so if you're promoting from ulta
merchants you just have to do it with
static links within content
closer someone has set up exactly the
same website as mine using the same

oh if yours is good as you say if yours
established and good with ranking don't
worry too much but maybe Doug is not so
paranoid after all
maybe you should be careful sharing
sites on here which is a shame because

Amazon TOS well the default setting in
Wu's own is to use remote images so
what's that that is actually doing is
pulling the image off Amazon server
every time the page on your website is
load is loaded into someone's browser

don't - turn that off when you do

be breaking the Amazon tos you're not
supposed to do that

charges for the advertising API there is
for the other AWS services like s free
and those other storage things generally
using the Amazon API for the advertising
stuff and should be free and especially
we sell get a couple of sales they
