a few months ago I started a morning
routine and it was awesome
and my productivity really went through
the roof
so everything was going pretty well and
the great part is when you wake up that
early in the morning there's really
little else that can get in your way
there's few distractions not that many
people are up at that time and what I
was able to do is really focus on the
one or two few items that I really
wanted to get done that day so anything
else that happened at work later on any
kind of distractions that I may have
just through the day didn't pull me away
from the work that I wanted to get done
so it was really effective and I was
getting so much done it was amazing
during that time I was actually writing
close to a thousand words per day each
morning or doing an equivalent amount of
working or editing so it was going
really well a few weeks back something
changed and what that was was daylight
saving time so most people should be
familiar with with the concept but in
the spring time we set the hours ahead
or set the time ahead by one hour so
what that ended up meaning is it was
staying brighter at night for longer so
as you could imagine waking up at 4:00
a.m. makes you a little bit tired and I
was starting to get sleepy when the Sun
was still shining outside it was still
bright and I know waking up at 4:00 a.m.
is a little weird but going to bed when
the Sun is still shining with us a
little more awkward and actually starts
to impact your life in some ways I
decided that I needed to adjust a little
bit and find a compromise if we refer
back to the original morning routine
blog post that I did a few months back
when I first kicked this off I think a
few people were asking if I did this
every single day do I wake up at 4 a.m.
on the weekends the answer is no what I
found after you know a few months of
doing this was 3 to 5 days a week if I
wake up at 4 a.m. or so then I'm in good
shape for the week so
really helped quite a lot to sleep in
for a couple days and relax of course in
the weekends I'll sleep in however the
effects still sort of they stay in place
so even if I'm sleeping in I'm usually
waking up at 6:00 or 6:30 which is a
nice shift so anyway I just wanted to
give a quick update about the long-term
impact of waking up that early and just
the fact that we need to be flexible
with our routines and introducing
something a little a little newer
changing it up a little bit or adjusting
as your life dictates it's definitely
okay it'd be better to adjust than to
scrap the whole idea of waking up early
so I found this to be a pretty good
compromise and a few days a week I wake
up early and a few days a week I sleep
in a little bit later and it seems to be
working out pretty well and just my
mindset through the day I feel like I'm
able to accomplish more of the things
that I want to and it's really due to
waking up earlier in the morning all
right thanks
