hey miles here miles Becker calm in this
video we're gonna explore the idea of
the 90-day challenge specifically is the
90-day challenge right for you or is
there a better way so first of all what
is the 90-day challenge well it's a
content marketing challenge where you
publish one piece of content whether
it's a podcast a blog post or a video
each and every day for 90 consecutive
days that's how I kick started this
channel back in August of 2016 I ended
up doing 120 videos in 120 consecutive
days I got this idea from my wife who
kick-started her website back in 2009
with a 90 day blogging challenge where
she wrote and published one blog post
per day for 90 consecutive days that
really kick-started her momentum there
and she's actually run a few of those on
traffic spikes up to the next level so
I've taught this method you maybe have
done a 9va challenge you maybe are in
the middle of a 90 day challenge and the
first thing I want to cover is I still
think there's immense value in
front-loading that much effort in when I
did the 98 challenge for my videos and I
did 90 videos in 90 consecutive days
what I was actually doing was mastering
the skill it wasn't about the results it
wasn't about the number of subscribers
or the views or any of those analytics
within YouTube it was about me getting
comfortable with the process of this
moment right here that I'm having with
you right getting comfortable with
creating videos being on camera
going through the post-production stuff
that we have to deal with learning how
to upload them how do i optimize them
how do I do this while I'm on the road I
was a full time digital nomad when I
started so there's a lot of learning
curve going on and when you condense the
learning curve down to 90 days and you
do something every single day for 90
days you build the habit more quickly so
I think it's extremely valid but here's
the challenge with the 90 day challenge
it's really challenging to repeat that
word three times in a row it's extremely
difficult so when I did my 120 day
challenge I got to day 120 and if you go
look at my videos I did a recap of it
I'm pretty sure I was like I'm done see
you guys later I'm over it I'm not doing
another video again and the funny thing
is I think I went
maybe a week before just feeling that
itch feeling that urge of no no no I am
supposed to publish content I'm not
supposed to quit and I've seen inside of
the membership we've got a lot of
discussions around this right now inside
of the membership I've seen that there
happens to be this kind of like well
I'll maybe call a creative hangover that
happens after you complete a 90 day
challenge or some people make it to 134
or 112 but it's like getting across that
90 published pieces in 90 days and then
there's a crash and then it goes down to
zero energy because we have to recover
and this isn't great because the
ultimate goal to growing a brand growing
a platform growing an audience is to be
extremely consistent over long periods
of time I've got a video that is the the
magic power of compounding I'll link to
it down below I'll have a pop up above
my head and it clearly shows that that
being consistent with something over
long periods of time that's where you
get all of the real value it's from the
compounding efforts so what's the
alternative
well I got to give you know got to give
a shout out to Tiger who is a golf
instructor out of Ireland he's one of
Ireland's premier golf instructors and
this dude works as much as I do he's
already working 60 hours he's a member
on the inside he's already doing 60 hour
weeks he's got physical shops he's got a
lot of clients so he's one to one with
his clients but he wanted to leverage
digital marketing he was like I can't do
one per day what do I do and well how
much can you do and he came up with two
blog posts per week he can do he's like
I don't know where I'll get time with
that so I was like Tiger wake up earlier
and he did he grunted through it he did
and he's been publishing his two blog
posts a week every single week and he's
been extremely extremely consistent with
it and what he's doing is a 90 week
challenge and his goal and his focus
right now is to great blog posts per
week every single week for 90
consecutive weeks now that is just under
two years it's over a year and a half
and by that point he'll have over a
hundred and eighty highly optimized
great posts now here's one of the things
that he's able to do with taking a
little bit of breathing room in between
each one of those posts he's getting
himself time to make sure that every
post is absolutely fantastic
not only that he's taking the time to
optimize each and every post to the best
of his ability when you're on that
treadmill up this post has to get out
today this post has to get out today
this post has to get out today sometimes
we do sacrifice a little bit of quality
and a little bit of optimization a post
that maybe could have been lengthened to
2,400 words gets cut short at 1,400
words because of that deadline and
ultimately Google does prefer great
comprehensive valuable posts and
sometimes to create these kinds of posts
it just takes a couple of days and
sometimes when we sleep on our blog
posts right you write your draft you go
through your draft and then you wake up
the next morning refresh with a clear
set of eyes and you go right back into
that blog post you can make it even
better than your readers are going to
appreciate it how are they gonna
appreciate it well the click-through
rate might go up because you maybe wrote
a better description you didn't wait
till you were completely out of energy
to write your title and description
which may very well be the most
important part of your blog post they
may read it and think oh my gosh this
person gets it they get me this is
brilliant I'm signing up for your list
so it may actually get you greater
subscriptions on your list but it also
might increase the time on site the
number of average pages viewed because
they like your content which Google
notices those sort of metrics and will
ultimately give you better rankings so
this is an idea I'm bringing out I've
been a pure champion of the 90 day
challenge and I still I want to make
sure it's clear I still think there is
an extreme amount of value for going
through that kind of a process
especially for someone who is up against
a wall if you need to start getting that
cash flow machine on fast if you're in a
situation where you have no choice but
to make this work fast you damn well
better be doing absolutely everything
you can within your power and that means
publishing every single day the best
content you can absolutely publish every
day but if you've got a successful
business going on you're running bricks
and mortar and you want to start to add
on a digital variation if you're already
doing coaching with clients and you've
got some great coaching clients you're
making enough income but you want to
scale that in some way shape or form or
you've got a traditional desk job that
has nothing to do with your side
business but you've got this little
thing on the side that you
want to get out to the world you feel
that calling in your heart to get it out
to the world you may very well be better
off setting a very realistic and
challenging goal for yourself each and
every week then sticking with it for 90
weeks because it's that level of
compounding over long periods of time
that truly create the results if you go
do 90 posts in 90 days and never post
again you're really not going to have
that same kind of results long-term as
if you break it out and do three posts a
week for 90 consecutive weeks now
obviously those numbers are different
right I'm literally saying 3x your
output but you're literally like what is
that 30 Xing you're 90 weeks seven Xing
so you'd be three Xing your output and
you'd be seven Xing the timeframe that
should be doable for everyone right if
you were thinking about doing one a day
every day for 90 days why not do three
or four a week every single week week in
and week out for 90 weeks now another
interesting thing I've taught inside of
my membership is the GST it's kind of a
gold achievement program it's this whole
training program that teaches you how to
how to methodologically achieve your
goals and we really focus people in on a
five-year goal and one of the numbers we
back ourselves out at to use as a check
point or a mile marker on that is 18
months well guess what ninety weeks ties
really really close to it's not perfect
but it's really really close so it's a
long enough period of time for you to
get momentum this is going straight into
your marathon runners pace you've maybe
heard me use that phrase before you get
some momentum on your side you get in
the groove your skill building because
you're still challenging yourself this
is not permission to do one post per
week for 90 weeks thinking you're gonna
overtake your competition because you're
not you have to be out working your
competition and odds are they're at
least doing one or two posts per week I
mean even Tiger who's already working 60
hours 70 hour weeks is finding a way to
fit in to new posts each and every week
you need to do more than that you need
to challenge yourself it's a challenge
because it's freaking hard right it's
challenging so it needs to be a
challenge that really motivates you or
forces you to find another gear
but I'm starting to think that spreading
that challenge out over nine
weeks with your doing three videos a
week for 90 weeks or four videos a week
for 90 weeks or three posts a week for
90 weeks or podcasts that by the end of
90 weeks you are gonna have some massive
amounts of momentum it's gonna give you
the breathing room to work on the other
aspects of your business such as getting
your opt in report or whatever you're
opting and giveaway done get that all
set up get your autoresponder setup
create your coaching program create your
course whatever it is it gives you a
little bit of extra time to get all of
those things done when I was doing my
videos it took me six months before I
put out my opt-in page now had I gotten
that out by month two would I have
gotten more subscribers absolutely
would I be farther along than I am now
absolutely but I just didn't have the
energy because I was so committed to
that 90 day challenge
I couldn't even come up for air all I
did was work on my wife's business and
then I did my one video a day than mine
and my wife's business all day and then
that one video a day had I spread it out
a little bit differently I may have had
different results but the big big big
killer here that that I'm trying to
prevent is that absolutely crashed down
to zero at some point around a 930
whatever it is right when people stop
there's that theoretical like I think a
creative hangover is a good way of
calling it we were just like oh my god I
don't even want to look at a computer
like no video like I'm over it right
we've all been there and that that
ultimately is the enemy because
rebounding from that getting back on the
horse the proverbial horse after having
that kind of a crash getting momentum
going again when you completely stop is
like ten times more difficult and final
note here I really think that that if
you're writing great blog post that's
awesome but you have to make sure you're
giving a lot of focus and attention to
the titles to the keyword optimization
to the the h2 tags the h3 tags write
your headings that are in there all
those little bits and pieces I teach in
my learn SEO video link in the
description I'll have the link pop-up
above right those things take time it
might take you three or four hours to
write the post it's probably gonna take
you an hour or two to optimize the post
the right way I often find myself
spending 30 40 minutes to write great
headlines or titles and descriptions
because there's that brutally important
and if you've just written this post and
that's all you have and you got six
minutes to get this thing optimized and
out you're gonna fall short on the
optimization and that's really the magic
that makes it all work so that that's
all the reasons why and and I don't have
any answers for you I still think that
the 90 day challenge idea is extremely
powerful I think it's extremely viable I
think it takes a superhuman level of
effort to get there and the challenge if
of coming up short it weighs on people
emotionally and that's that's the enemy
right this thing the mindset the the
real estate between your two ears that
is the most valuable real estate in the
world and keeping that that self talk
that that internal conversation going in
a direction where you're like yep did my
work this week check I'm on my path I'm
going but when that conversation turns
to you and I'm at like how dare you if
you didn't publish today and it turns
negative and it goes dark and we all
have that experience of when the ego
goes dark against us and that's just
flat-out not helpful so I think
structuring it a little differently for
the certain types of personalities for
people who are in certain lifestyle
situations stretching it out to do the
four posts a week every week for 90 days
or three posts a week every week for 90
days or videos or podcasts right that's
gonna set you up for better success
because then you could hit your numbers
comfortably you still have time to spend
with a family you're not totally going
into ridiculous hermit over-the-top
workaholic mode from zero you're getting
in that marathon runners pace from day
one and ultimately I need you to stick
with it for ninety weeks and at the end
of 90 weeks I guarantee you like just do
another one right you're just gonna be
so hooked on it you're gonna see the
numbers the results everything's really
excited you're just not gonna stop
that's the path to creating a massive
business in three years five years ten
years right I'm talking like $100,000 a
month type business no no this little
tank a chump change stuff like this is
how you build huge businesses which is
totally possible and even extremely
obscure niches I know a lot of people
making seven figures a year everything
from horseback riding in iPhone
photography all kinds of crazy niches
people are making some serious about a
million dollars a year is eighty-three
thousand dollars plus per month right
and I know of people in all kinds of
obscure niches crushing those numbers
you can do it to the
one common thing that all my friends who
are making millions of dollars a year
with their internet based businesses the
one common thread they've been doing it
for several years minimum six seven
years I don't know anybody who's doing a
million dollar your business personally
sure they're out there right there's
exemptions exceptions every rule but
I've been going to digital marketing
events for a long time I've been shaking
hands with a lot of people most internet
marketers aren't making 10 grand a month
let alone 100 a month but those who are
have been doing it since 2011 2012
they're doing something they love
they've got solid routines and they're
hitting their numbers each and every
week they're just cranking out content
that really really is at a breakneck
pace compared to their competitors so
you got to get there the sooner I can
get you there with zero chance of a
breakdown with zero chance of the the
emotional weight of missing a day and
feeling like that's crippling knocking
you off your horse and then that whole
like having to get back on the horse
that's what I'm thinking is important so
this is a tweak on it right and I've got
a lot of videos that are public record
of saying like 98 challenges is
absolutely the way and Here I am I don't
know you could call it a contradiction
but you could also call it me optimizing
things based on feedback and I'm getting
a lot of feedback from my members at
content and conversion calm because I'm
working with them each and every day I'm
seeing their challenges and realizing
that this this letdown and crash at the
end is a gigantic challenge and the the
emotional stress of missing a day or two
or a week or two is a huge challenge
whereas you know we got members like
tiger and there's other members doing 90
with challenges who's just like happy as
a lark he hit his two this week he knows
he did what he did he knows what he did
he knows he did the work he needs to do
to get to his long-term goal right so
he's able to move forward turn the page
on that cool got those two done for that
boom I'm on to the next thing that I
need to do keep my business going
forward that emotional momentum is gonna
be long-term extremely helpful for him
Harrington Golf Academy calm I
remembered it shout out to him check out
his blog post he's doing great work

that let me know what you think give me
a comment thumbs up questions I'm here

you're gonna do shout out to the world
