in this video I'm gonna look at some of
the SEO aspects of Tiger King my wife
and I started watching Tiger King we
went down the downward spiral of binge
watching it and I think I feel a little
stupid or now than I did before I
watched it but it was entertaining it
was a fantastic story in an episode
liked doing kind of a slightly illegal
but also a slightly smart thing where he
was taking a lot of SEO ideas and just
trying to get out ahead of Carol by the
way if you haven't watched the show yet
don't watch this cuz I'm gonna spoil a
lot of things in the show I will go over
a few little aspects I had a thread in
my mind and I was like hey you know what
I wonder what the 9-1-1 animal abuse
dot-org website looked like versus Carol
site and I wonder what Josiah looked
like back in the day just a little bit
curious and the site has been rebranded
because Jeff Lowe owns the company in
the zoo at this point so he rebranded it
to have sort of a fresher start and
maybe cut the ties with jail exotic who
knows if it worked I'm gonna use three
tools two of them are paid ones called H
refs another one is called link miners
put out by the same folks who put out a
tool that I love called kW find her I'm
gonna affiliate for that tool so if you

I'm also gonna show you another tool
which is free maybe the more interesting
one called the Wayback Machine by the
web archive so some pretty cool stuff

without further ado let's get into the
details here
initially when I started thinking about
how I wanted to approach this so I knew
a couple of the websites that they
mentioned on the documentary but it
wasn't a hundred percent sure so I
googled around a little bit but really a
lot of that led to current stories right
now about the documentary or things that
are going on there's just so much
content coming out about Joe exotic in
the whole Tiger King show that it's hard
to find anything historically so I was
like hey I'll check out his YouTube
channel really quick and by the way two
hundred eighty-two thousand subscribers
quite a few he has many millions and
tens of millions of views pretty much
insane and I'm assuming his channel is
like blowing up at this point in time
because he's getting so much press again
one place that you can look a lot of
times is the About section on someone's
YouTube channel and in this case he
doesn't list a specific website so I was
like hey you know what I'm not really
sure what his old URL name was because
if you actually go search for Joe exotic
website it's going to pop up with his
YouTube channel number one and I was
really wondering about this GW Zoo so
now it's called the Wynwood Zoo org and
when you go there it's actually the
current site which I believe is now
owned by Jeff Lowe all the things that I
am watching TV are accurate so that kind
of led me down a dead-end so when would
zoo I'm not really sure but one thing I
did know was that 9/11 animal abuse org
was Joe site that he created to confuse
people about the site that carol has
where there's Joe right here and hers is
9/11 one animal abuse calm so calm
versus org all right little confusing
but as you can see probably because of
the lawsuit in a number of other reasons
this dot org site that Joe created is
offline however that doesn't mean we
can't figure it out so there's a couple
places that you can go first I want to
show you over
and I believe it as this tab I went to
9-1-1 animal abuse org alright so this
is a tool called link miner and it shows
me this is deeper into SEO right now so
a lot of people are like nodding their
head they already know what this is
basically if there's a backlink pointing
to your site that's a good thing it's
like a vote and if you could rank at
number one in Google then you get more
traffic da cantle in the show even
mentions this hey if you're number one
the number one spot if you're in page
one on Google then you win you get all
the traffic you you can manage a lot of
a lot of things from there right you
have the world is your oyster at that
point so we have nine one one animal
abuse dot org this is link minor it
shows this many links and I read this
earlier and I kind of perused these and
I was like okay these don't look much
like the original name of the zoo but GW
Zoo org well that's interesting that
does look like the original name of the
zoo so I decided to take a little bit of
a look at that and if you another tool
that you can use is called the wayback
machine so again Linc Linc minor is
actually a paid tool and you can use my
discount code it's in the description if
you want to check it out but another
tool which i think is you know really
good for this sort of thing is the
wayback machine so this is a hundred
percent free tool out there and what you
can do is you can just take the name of
the site the URL the domain name and
just put it in here and the wayback
machine goes and takes a snapshot it
crawls the internet it takes a snapshot
over years right so whenever a site is
around a lot of times this wayback
machine will archive it and as they say
like now that things are online it's
like it's hard to get away from anything
now we see the first hits are back in
2010 so we'll just take a quick look
here and look at this one this is
November 5th this is like the first one
no click on that fingers crossed that
it'll load while I'm recording you never
know if it's
to work or not
the little wheels turning that's a good
thing so here we go
this is the site and you can actually
click around here and get more
information the site is sort of captured
from back in November 5th 2010 so you
can see what was going on there I'm just
gonna click on the about page because it
can get long and drawn-out this will be
a two-hour video if I'm not careful so
we'll just check out the about page it
is archived as well so you can have a
good time reading about whatever Joe was
doing in 2010 and so forth but the real
thing is I was like I really wanted to
see like what the old site looked like
so I did mention we found GW Zoo org and
we could take a look at that in a second
I did pull up a couple other things so I
put GW org dot sorry GW Zoo or here and
to take a look at their backlinks and
different information here so yeah you
end up with a lot of just tons of links
a lot of links out there this is an old
defunct site so I think there's probably
more links or there were more links
going to it in the past but I do want to
show you one another tool it's called H
refs and they have a very good backlink
profile actually a little bit stronger
here's all this stuff a little bit
stronger than some of the other tools
out there it's very robust they've been
around for a long time it really
optimized the backlink crawler so this
gave me a lot of information even
further info and the big thing was I
kept seeing like redirects over 2g w zu
+ GW part org so there were multiple
domain names so here's here's the payoff
I can go over to the web archive again
which is over here and then you could
put in that GW Zoo org which I did
earlier so we don't have to wait for it
to load up so this is from back in 2013
so again they had a couple different
iterations of the site but you can see
this looks you know wonderful like sites
looked
in 2013 very busy you know I'm not gonna
critique the usability of this website
but holy cow look at all the links at
the bottom there I mean that is one
massive navigation thing going on there
so this is what it looked like back then
and we can see you know some of the
other folks I didn't test any of the
other clicks here so I'm not gonna
venture off too far thanks for checking
it out and this is gonna be it for now
but if you're interested in a deeper
critique of the backlink profile
especially when they talked about Joe
trying to take over some of the top
positions to siphon off traffic and
confuse people from Carol let me know
because initially I was like oh I really
want to see what Joe was doing back in
you know 2010 2012 when all this stuff
was going on like what kind of crazy
link building activities were they doing
I'm not sure if I'm gonna be able to dig
up the old links from a defunct site at
