video you're gonna learn why the 10,000
hour rule introduced by Malcolm Gladwell
in his book outliers is wrong and you're
gonna learn what the real rule that you
need to pay attention to is in order to
create the success that you desire now
the answer to this question lies in a
very common story in history which I'll
get to in a moment but first I want to
share why the 10,000 hour rule or if
you've heard the the 1,000 days
rule both of these rules are completely
false and they're grounded in nothing
factual because time is not the ultimate
factor when it comes to you and your
success the amount of time that you
spend fiddling with things isn't really
the key right if you're doing the wrong
things for a thousand days you're never
going to create the success that you
desire if you're doing the wrong things
for 10,000 hours straight you're never
going to create the results that you
desire which is ultimately a successful
about being willing to pivot and adapt
and how do you know what to pivot
towards how do you know what to adapt to
as you're moving forward with your
business herein lies the key and the
real secret here so not only has I
believe it was Harvard debunked the
10,000 hour rule saying that it really
that much practice doesn't create much
more than a 1% variance in the results
but ultimately in history there's a
story of Thomas Edison and Thomas Edison
as he went about creating the light bulb
and this was a story that I first heard
when I read Napoleon Hills Think and
Grow Rich and ultimately the the story
as I've heard it is that it took him
10,000 failed experiments in order to
find the light bulb the actual working
light bulb the incandescent light bulb
that literally changed our world the key
here is that he focused on the
experiments not the time he didn't use
time as his indicator of how far am I it
was scientific experiments and has I've
been putting out more content on split
testing on testing your offers testing
your headlines I realize that this form
of experimentation is ultimately the
path to success it's through this type
of experimentation that you find
the essentially places for you to pivot
if you test one new offer if you test
another new offer you can also do these
kinds of experiments in the micro level
and the macro level right you can focus
on really big things like testing out
drop shipping or testing out affiliate
marketing or testing out content
marketing versus Facebook marketing but
then you can get really really subtle
with the experience experiments excuse
me
and you could test different headlines
you could test different sub headlines
you could test different button texts
button colors video sales letters versus
written sales letters etc and it is
honestly the fact that my wife and I
have continued experimenting and I
personally have been experimenting with
making money online and digital
marketing for dozens of years right I've
been building websites since the late
1990s I've been generating income online
from the internet since 2003 that's over
15 years and in that time I've done a
lot of different types of experiments
I've experimented with not running a
digital business and running a clothing
company I've experimented with real
estate investing within that world I
experimented with wholesaling houses
with flipping houses with wrapping
contracts I did big experiments like
that I did little experiments like how I
reached out to people through to to
offer them to place offers to buy their
houses from them I tried greeting cards
I tried handwritten letters I tried tape
or I've tried printed out letters right
so this experimentation is really the
key and through the experimentation and
through analyzing the results and being
scientific with the whole process is how
you ultimately find the things you want
to create now to carry along from my
real estate investing to how I got back
to internet marketing it's kind of
interesting because I was doing well as
a real estate investor until the global
financial crisis hit and at that point I
realized I really didn't like the
process of generating my income in my
livelihood tied to very large non
movable kind of assets that required
large amounts of money and large amounts
of effort to generate paydays so what I
do I went 180 degrees in an experiment
to the other side and I was like
what if I start selling services or
inexpensive products that are really
easy to deliver and that can be
delivered from anywhere this is where I
got into the services this is where my
wife and I began selling her original
services that she offered this is where
we got into the digital marketing world
and I preferred that type of income and
then we began to kind of experiment on
well do we want to offer services or do
we want to create downloadable products
do we want to create productized items
which were mp3 courses mp3 files and
video courses and we preferred that type
of income so then we had experimented
our way into the information marketing
world and then it was like well if we
put together a membership program where
people could just pay every month and
get access to everything we've ever
created at a significant discount how
would that work so we ran an experiment
we wrote a sales letter for it and we
sent an email out and we experiment it
and to this day I'm still running
experiment after experiment after
experiment and if you learn about Jeff
Bezos and what how he approaches Amazon
there are always simultaneously hundreds
if not thousands if not tens of
thousands of different split tests being
run on Amazon Zuckerberg with Facebook
is notorious for running tons of
different split tests on Facebook as an
advertiser I get I see it a lot right I
will see a different interface than you
might see and our friends in Ireland
will see a different interface than our
friends in New Zealand will see than us
here in North America we'll see that's
how they roll out things they test
different things in different markets
they see what kind of results they get
does that contribute or give them closer
to their ultimate goal does it not they
roll out the ones that work well
worldwide and the ones that don't go
back in through another round of
iteration and another round of testing
so ultimately I think the idea is that
you want to get to 10,000 experiments as
fast as you can now can you do that in
10,000 hours maybe can you do it unless
maybe does it have to be big experiments
little experiments honestly it's gonna
be a wide variety of all of them for you
to ultimately find that little your
little place in the world your little
entrepreneurial nook in the
where you're able to create value for an
audience of people in a way that's fun
enjoyable aligned with your skills
aligned with your natural abilities it
doesn't come easy you're never gonna be
able to go through someone else's course
and plug in their version of what worked
for them
exactly and create the kind of success
that you desire you're going to have to
maybe use that as a baseline and
experiment from there to find your take
on how it works to find your little
twist on how it works to create your
version of success because your version
of success is different than my version
of success now this YouTube channel and
all the content I'm putting out is to
help you learn from my 10,000 plus
experiments that I've put out to
generate the kind of success that I
desire in the world but it doesn't keep
you from needing to do your own
experimentation so if you feel like
you're trying different things you're
like over here I'm doing this and now
I'm over here doing that and you feel
like you're maybe all over the place
know that that's a good thing because
you're doing the experimentation and
when you do enough experiments
ultimately you will find a few things
that work then you'll find a few things
that work really well that are fun and
enjoyable and aligned with your passions
with your hobbies with what you enjoy to
do with your what you're naturally good
at and what you have a unique ability to
help others with and through
experimentation you will ultimately find
your unique path with pivoting and
adapting on the way lateral moves are
everywhere right you're able to keep
moving forward testing new things
testing whether it's your headlines your
opt-in pages testing whether it's niche
markets products different affiliate
offers different types of email subject
headlines different types of emails
whether it's text email or HTML email
personally I like the personal the
regular text emails but that is
ultimately the path to success you can't
just put in a bunch of hours doing
something that's not gonna work and
think that at some point it's gonna
start working right if you're
essentially spamming social media and
you're trying to direct link people from
facebook over to affiliate offers
eventually you might make a little cash
if you're making cash with that right
now know that that's going to die at
some point and if you stick with that
for 10,000 hours you absolutely will be
will get caught by their algorithm that
income source will ultimately fall apart
but if you're experimenting on maybe I
could drive people to a list maybe I
could use
this is a free offer maybe I could use
that as a free offer what if I use this
headline to give away the offer and you
continue to experiment over time you
altima we'll find your path to a very
successful business that will withstand
the test of time and that's what I
ultimately want to help you achieve and
I know that growing an email list
growing an audience of people who you
can be of service to and then focusing
on giving them value is the core idea
but how that works for you with your
personal DNA with your personal
education background your professional
background your personal experiences
through your family through your friends
through the relationships and your
hobbies all growing up that is 100%
unique for you
compared to me compared to my wife
compared to every other viewer watching
this video and you got to experiment
your way 10,000 experiments is the trick
to ultimately find your little unique
way of creating value in the lives of
other people than how to scale that to
the point where you're generating the
kinds of income that you desire online
whether that's 10 grand a month a
hundred grand a month or a million
dollars per month you can ultimately
experiment your way there and the one
last kicker in order for you to start
experimenting you have to start if you
haven't begun publishing content yet if
you don't have your wordpress blog set
up yet if you haven't published your
first youtube video
that's your first experiment is to put
the content out this is why I love doing
90 day challenges and I highly recommend
you do a 90 day challenge because it
gives you the opportunity to experiment
with different types of content
different keyword phrases different ways
of going forth with delivering the
content and through that experimentation
you will find your path your path will
appear especially if you stay focused on
being strategic you keep your eyes open
as to the results that you're generating
that my friend is the ultimate path to
success it's not ten thousand hours it's
not a thousand days that's missing the
key ingredient which is experimentation
just as Thomas Edison used to create the
light bulb that has literally
illuminated our lives and illuminated
the world he changed the world through
his experimentation you have access to
that same thing as well through
