hey miles here miles better calm in this
video you're gonna learn about my five
favorite internet marketing strategies
we do a brief overview of each of the
strategies so you could make more
progress with your internet business now
if you've just chosen your niche and
you've proven that you actually can help
a group of people solve a problem and
you're ready to go all in this is where
you start but note I'm gonna be covering
five separate strategies you want to
choose one that's most in alignment with
your DNA first you're gonna want to get
momentum with one strategy before you
add on the other strategies the goal is
not to start with all five you're gonna
spread yourself too thin if you have
been content marketing for a while or
you've been on the path for a bit and
you're looking for that next best
strategy to add on to compliment what
you're doing and to scale up the results
that you're getting this video is gonna
explain the different pieces how they
work together so you can make that next
most logical step for your business the
big warning was for people who are new
choose one get momentum and choose the
one that's easiest and sounds most fun
to you so I'm gonna start with number
one which is YouTube because that's what
I started with here on this brand and
once you know all you really actually
need to get is a there's an Irish Mike
laughs you can get it off of Amazon for
about 50 bucks it plugs right into your
cell phone and with that your cell phone
and your mic laughs you have enough to
create videos and you need to start
putting out content like a machine I
recommend you do a 90 day challenge and
at some point on that process I
recommend building a basic WordPress
funnel and the basic WordPress funnel is
designed to give away a free item in
essentially it's an opt-in page that's
tied into your autoresponder then you
start to add on the email marketing you
work on your videos on one end and
you're putting out your email marketing
on the other end that is a strategy that
is sufficient to create a very very good
lifestyle income that's where I've
started here but then you might want to
add on a second layer well if you've
started with YouTube and you have that
microphone already you can easily get
your content onto a podcast feed you can
sign up for lips in as little as five
dollars a month on you pay based on how
much you upload each month so you want
to make sure you
compress those files as small as you
possibly can and then upload them I
spend about $20 a month on my podcast
hosting and then you're able to get that
content out now if you're starting
natively in your like miles I love the
idea of talking out my content but I
don't love the idea about being on video
great podcasting may very well be the
option for you and I recommend again
you're either going to be if you're
doing the content yourself you can use
that I read by clap
I got a plant Ronix headphone headset
that has a it's a USB headset that plugs
into my computer it was about $30 it's
designed for call center work that's why
I use Plantronics Plantronics brand of
USB headsets is one of the best in the
world for call centers and it works
great for VoIP bought it off of Amazon
you can use that with zoom and you can
actually record conversations with
people you can interview experts you can
do that that whole interview based kind
of podcast plan with a free zoom account
and a $30 headset and then just the five
to ten or $20 per month lips and hosting
then the third one is in the written
word I think this is actually
potentially the most valuable long-term
marketing strategy to start with and to
stick with for long periods of time
personally I'm not a writer and you need
to make sure you are a writer it you
love writing and you love editing either
reading these things because that is a
part of the process and if you are
congratulations
I believe there's more potential value
for you through the written word than
any other medium and the reason is
because the written word gets picked up
by Google and there's more people
visiting searching Google for answers to
their problems for first steps towards
their goals right all those search
phrases billions of searches are
happening every day on Google for people
trying to solve their problems if they
find your content which they only find
written word content usually if they
find your content you have a really good
chance of capturing lots and lots of
content and lots and lots of traffic
right my wife's website gets over 8
million visits per year right now like
last 365 days 8 million visits almost 70
percent of those visits come directly
from Google organic based on blog posts
she has written over the last eight plus
years
it's a very powerful medium but again
you gotta love the writing so if you
love the writing great get a wordpress
blog set up and start with a free
wordpress theme and just start writing
so many people when they go down the
path I'm gonna be a blogger I'm going to
use the written word for content
marketing they get in there okay I'm
gonna put in my fancy funnels I'm gonna
get all my funnel set up let me get my
female design before ever writing the
first post that's never going to work
you need to get momentum publishing
content first you can always work with
someone to update and clean up and get
the thrive themes installed and really
customize that thrive theme for you to
make it look great I believe you can get
started for as little as a hundred to a
hundred and fifty dollars for the
hosting etc and getting that going once
you add on the thrive themes and hire
someone to really customize that the
blog look after you've done 15 or 20
different blog posts you're looking at
maybe another hundred dollars there so
within a few hundred dollars you have
everything you need to drive a massive
amount of traffic and once you get that
thrive leads membership you've got the
ability to run the funnels and all those
other bits and pieces too now if you're
going with the YouTube or the podcast
you still need to set up a WordPress
website because you do need to have a
funnel you need to have an opt-in for
them you need a way to get them off of
youtube off of your podcast and onto
your website so they can go get a free
thing in exchange for the email address
so generally your wordpress site is
going to have a funnel on the front end
the opt-in page is going to be your home
page whereas if you're doing a blog and
WordPress as your content marketing
you're probably to have a custom home
page or your home page will be your blog
rule showing off your newest blog posts
and your free offer will be at like
forward slash free now I've got more
videos that explain my DIY sales funnel
video series shows exactly how to get
all that set up so don't worry if that
sounds like a lot the big takeaway here
is if you're a writer get WordPress
going and start writing don't worry
about how it looks at first no one's
gonna find your content right away
you're the only one reading it you don't
even have to tell anyone in the world
about it you need to flex the muscle
over and over and over again the loofah
3 core you've probably heard me talk
about those three before that's the
three pillar content marketing strategy
the fourth one that I'm a huge fan of is
Kindle ebooks now my wife and I have 5
Kindle books I'm currently
putting together book number six that
we're gonna publish and we drive so our
best highest quality leaves into our
funnel from our Kindle books we have our
free offers as beginning and the end of
our Kindle books so if someone's just
using the look inside feature on Amazon
they're going to look inside they're
gonna read the first few pages they're
going to see our free offer for our free
thing that we give away and they're
gonna be able to go from Amazon for free
to take a look at our book and then they
can actually go find our landing page
they can enter a funnel they can get on
our list without ever buying our book
but with that said when people do buy
our books yes we make a little bit of
money but most of our books are priced
at $2.99 all the way down to free but
really the goal is to get them to become
a customer even though it's amazon's
customer and to consume our content and
once they've consumed our content and
they feel like they bought our book even
if that transaction happened on Amazon
they're much more likely to become a
customer in the future and that again is
why we have the opt in call to action at
the end we've got it kind of placed
neatly in a few places on the inside of
the books as well this is proven to be
it generates a few thousand dollars a
month in recurring revenue for us which
is great but ultimately it drives
thousands upon thousands of lead which
is worth tens if not hundreds of
thousands of dollars to our business
which is really where we make all our
money with the Kindle books now what we
do is we're repurposing our product
content we sell our big product or mp3s
we repurpose that content through Trent
and the copy editing and the copy and
the editors and proofreaders and then we
get it laid out and turn it into Kindle
books some people outsource through
ghost writers the entire process of
creating the Kindle books they just
create the outlines and the basic ideas
and the outsource would pay to get them
done for us to get a book fully done to
publish it cost us about 300 to 500
dollars per book that's to have it
professionally edited to get it all
together to get the the cover done to
get the layout design done etc etc it's
generally about nine to eight three
hundred dollars our last book I just had
it edited by a professional editor it
was fifty thousand words or so and it
cost about $200 for us to have that
edited so that was the big expense it'll
be about fifty to a hundred dollars to
get the layout done from do
from cover to back cover because that's
also gonna go on create space for a
print book right then number 5 is add
and funnel now this is the one that a
lot of people think is a shortcut I
don't actually believe it's a shortcut
and you need to have fairly deep pockets
if you're new to the world of
copywriting funnels and Facebook
advertisements I think a lot of people
are going into Facebook thinking that
Facebook is a magical solution it's not
Facebook is a quick way to spend ten
thousand dollars and get very very
little to show for it I believe most
people with very focused effort with
very strategic approach and they've
already proven that they can help an
audience of people solve their problems
I believe most people within about two
to five thousand dollars should begin to
see the kinds of results will that will
give them clear clear hope that they
will actually be able to make a full
business out of this yes I think you
could spend upwards of five thousand
dollars and see very very little result
but as long as you're split testing
every step of the process you're split
testing your offers you're split testing
your headlines you're split testing your
funnels then you will give yourself the
highest likelihood of finding what works
and the cool part is if you don't find
what works until that 4,500 to 5,000
dollars in ads bed right you spent three
four or five months and you're spending
a thousand two thousand dollars per
month in ad spend and towards the end of
that process you find an offer that
converts you find a headline that works
really well you find an ad that works
really really well at that point you can
probably run that ad that funnel and
variations of that funnel profitably for
years to come so the reward is there but
it might take you thousands and
thousands of dollars in ad spend and
you're working with a lot of smaller
really important hinges that swing big
doors your ad that you said itself right
the ad copy you have to have pretty good
copy chops to create an ad that's going
to get people to take action you need to
be understand how the conversion the
website conversion process works and all
of the different ads that targeting work
that's very important so those are two
other variables that you've got a fiddle
in addition to the ad then you've got
your opt-in the offer the headline the
layout of the page then you have what
happens after the opt-in you've got the
sales page if you go to an OT
you might have a downsell you might have
a one-click upsell there's three four or
five more variable pieces of very
important copies that need to be dialed
and then you have your email follow-up
sequence and your daily emails so
Facebook ads and funnels are not an easy
option that is not a shortcut by any
means even if that's what the fake gurus
are trying to sell you into my wife and
I did not add on the ad and funnel side
of our business for about three years we
built our content on our first main
business through WordPress we were on a
very ugly theme to start we went for
about six months on that what I would
call a very ugly theme until we really
moved on and learned how to kind of deal
with a more advanced theme thrive is
what I use now but we really focused on
driving the traffic first and then
finding out what our audience wanted and
helping them opt-in to our list and
asking questions and really dialing in
what was compelling to them first before
ever pouring money into that situation
big part of the reason of that is we
were flat broke I didn't have any money
I'd $50,000 in student loan debt so I
didn't have money to invest and I had to
wait until I generated enough income to
pay off my debt and get to a point where
I was ready to reinvest back into the
business
those are my five favorite marketing
approaches right there you might notice
I did not say Pinterest in this I don't
think
Instagram marketing is a great option
and I don't think Facebook marketing is
a great option I don't care if you're
doing live or groups or whatever I think
those are secondary options I think
those can complement these core 5
marketing strategies that I covered here
but I don't think that Instagram alone
is a viable marketing strategy it is one
tiny slice of a much greater pie and
really my data is coming from the three
brands at my mind my wife and I run
successfully for my wife's brand from
number one source of ads excuse me of
revenue of customers of leads and
traffic is Google organic through the
written word Pinterest and YouTube are
close behind for her for me YouTube and
the written word are my top two I've
been very active on Instagram it's
growing I'm connecting with people but
it's really not moving the needle when
it comes down to my actual lead flow and
my actual revenue so many people are
trying to market on Facebook and try to
market on Instagram they're pouring all
of their time and energy on to those
platform
but that's not a primary marketing
approach right your primary marketing
approach needs to be content that you
own advertising on Facebook is the
closest but that you have full control
over how many people reach you reach
based on how much money you're willing
to pour down into that system whereas
the YouTube the podcast and the content
marketing through your effort over time
you can create a very large audience
you can then flow people back to your
email list you can then connect with
them on email nurture that relationship
offer them things to purchase and that's
how you grow a business I hope this has
been helpful find the one that is
closest to you in your heart right if
you're a talker maybe it's podcasting if
your performer it's probably YouTube if
you love writing and you're a writer by
heart great you can go right into the
written word straight onto a wordpress
blog and know the goal is to get
momentum on your side you want to be
publishing every day for two three four
weeks before you even consider starting
to build out the funnel side of things
even before you consider building out
that next leg you need to hit two months
of daily posts before you really think
about that next pillar in your three
pillar marketing strategy because unless
you get momentum until you get that
muscle memory and it becomes easy you're
gonna just be adding challenges on
that'll spread yourself too thin and you
might not get anything done and the
trick to this game is to publish
something every single day that's
helpful to your audience whether that's
your email that goes out to your list
whether that's the videos that you're
doing your podcast your blog posts etc
you've gotta get something out that's
gonna live forever not social media
posts those don't count you can do them
also but only do them after you get your
blog post your written thing your new
ads write one of these five strategies
you get those launched then you work on
the social media from there I hope this
