hey miles here my inspector Kong this
video is all about work versus outcomes
and it's really important for you to not
mistake your work for the outcomes
you're creating when you go down an
entrepreneurial path you see four
employees work is enough right you show
a week you do your work and whether that
creates a fiscally positive week month
quarter or a year for your company it
doesn't really matter to you you get
your paycheck either way and this is why
working a traditional job is actually
the safe route and the easy route
because you just show up you shuffle
that one piece of paper across your desk
over and over all day long alt-tab in
the Facebook reddit YouTube whatever you
do and then boom you're off at five
o'clock regardless of what actually
happened where as entrepreneurs we are
all on the line and all that actually
matters for an entrepreneur is the
outcome right it doesn't matter how much
work you put in for the day it doesn't
matter how many times you tried to feed
the social media algorithm it doesn't
matter how many posts you put up on out
on Instagram what matters is what did
you actually create in terms of volume
what are the outcomes that you created
in your business specifically in terms
of how many new leads did you bring in
and how many new paying customers did
you bring in because when you go down
the entrepreneurial path its 100% on
your shoulders and that's what makes
being an entrepreneur so difficult is
number one 100% of the risk is on you
whether it works or it doesn't
that's a hundred percent on you even if
you feel like a vendor let you down you
probably made the decision to choose
said vendor or you outsource it to
someone who choose said vendor all roads
always are going to lead directly back
to you so if you're not creating the
results that you need to create the
income
you desire that's a system or that's a
problem within the choices that you've
been making within your business model
itself so there's the idea of we as
entrepreneurs take on the risk because
there is no I did my work for the day
and I got paid today but the potential
upside can be massive because when
you're able to get a specific result
consistently with a lot less effort then
most people put it into a traditional
job this creates a scalable system right
this is where you might come up with a
funnel that has an advertisement a
landing page and opt-in a one-click
offer a one-time offer and a one-click
upsell and you might be able to put $30
into that system and extract $40 from
that system or you might be able to put
$30 in get $30 out and you've got
another sale that happens after the
seven day or fourteen day mark that
makes all of your profit margins at that
point it becomes a scalable system that
you can grow and that's ultimately the
magic of kind of growing a business
online if you will but what most people
don't realize or think about is the fact
that it can often take years of testing
of trial and error to find that one
little magic system and all these little
tests that you're running you're you're
learning about your audience but
ultimately you're often not generating
the result in those early testing phases
and this is why I personally chose to
maintain a full-time job to support my
entrepreneurial habit because I was
uncovering the path to creating the
desired result that I wanted at the time
that was ten thousand dollars per month
it was a very big number and at this
point that's a very small number from
based on what I've been generating
online each and every month but in the
moment I wanted to create the $10,000
per month cash flow so I needed to learn
how to create that that was the result I
was after and it was 100% up to me to
learn how to create that there's plenty
of fake gurus out there who were willing
to sell me systems and methods and hacks
that were supposedly going to get me
there but every time I bought one and
consumed one it got me farther from
where I
to be because I needed to be publishing
new split tests new great content
connecting with more audience members
offering them things that would improve
their lives etc etc etc so this is
really where I realized that the result
I wanted was 10k per month which meant I
needed to deliver 5x to 10x that much
value to my audience right so I needed
to figure out how to create the result
of not just $10,000 a month income but
how could I create the result of 50,000
to $100,000 worth of value to my
audience each and every month and that
process for my wife and I in the first
business model we launched took about
four years and this is why I maintained
a job to support my entrepreneur habit I
didn't expect this entrepreneur habit to
create the income for me because I
didn't know how to generate that result
not just the 10k per month result in my
life but how can I actually deliver
$100,000 a month or more in value see in
our business now today we reach millions
and millions of individuals each and
every month through our different
platforms right from the YouTube to
Pinterest to our blog to all of those
different platforms on my wife's grant
and my brand we reach tens of millions
of people and we're able to add a little
bit of value into the lives of lots and
lots of people and that's what's
ultimately generating that result it
took a very long time in two ways number
one what do these individuals want what
can we create what can we do what types
of content can we create that will
actually help improve their lives and
get them positive results because my
income is a byproduct of that then
number two is how do we do the actual
things right how do you make the YouTube
videos how do you cut a really good
video how do you make a blog post how do
you install WordPress back when I
started there wasn't a hosting company
that would install WordPress for us how
do I get a theme installed I didn't have
a computer science degree I didn't know
any of this
but I knew that in order for me to get
the result I wanted
ten grand per month income that I was
after and I had to generate 50 to
$100,000 per month in positive kind of
life value to my audience I knew I had
to leverage a blog I knew I had to
leverage a YouTube channel I knew I had
to leverage these technologies so then I
had to figure out how to do it right not
just the content that's coming out but
the actual technical side of how do I
find what they're searching for
that's keyword research how do I
actually lay out my content in a way
that the search engines are going to
pick it up that's a search engine
optimization there's all these little
competencies that are involved and this
is the work right and this is where it
gets a little bit of a gray area because
I started this entire video with the
premise that you can't just focus on the
work it's all about the result but we
have to put in the work to generate the
result you see the difference in run
entrepreneur is an entrepreneur it can't
just say I did the work therefore I'm
done for the day the entrepreneur has to
say okay I just did a bunch of work in
the world of WordPress I just installed
a wordpress theme I wrote my first 100
blog posts you notice I didn't say first
few literally I wrote my first 100 blog
posts that's a starting point now I'm at
this point right look a hundred blog
posts out I've got a theme I've got an
opt-in is this how is this working what
is this going on then I have to analyze
the result of the work that I did and
then use my brain and thinking of
logical thinking of did that work get me
closer to my desired outcome because
that's actually all that matters and for
the first several months it didn't right
it just flat-out didn't work so when I
was starting this YouTube channel that
you're watching now it started in August
of 2016 with zero subscribers and zero
videos I started by publishing a hundred
and twenty videos in a hundred and
twenty days after my 90th video putting
out a video a day every single day guess
how many subscribers I had it was about
157 so I did 90 videos the best videos I
could make
I've already been making money online
for 15 years at that point in time I've
been full-time online since 2010 for six
years so I've had an idea of how to do
all of this stuff and it still took me
three months of incredibly hard work
doing the work
and I was only reaching I only have 150
subscribers from that most people quit
in this moment and that's the situation
of if you looked at this these numbers
based on well I did the work right I I
did the 90 videos but the result I show
wasn't doing right millions of dollars
and value to the lives of my audience
yet but the power of compounding was not
yet working for me so after day 90 I
kept going I did 30 more videos in 30
more days that brought me to a hundred
and twenty videos at that point I had
450 subscribers still not much to write
home about but I kept with it
and I shifted to three videos per per
week and at that point out there year
one I'd about twenty-seven thousand
subscribers year two I had about sixty
seven thousand subscribers or so and
here year two and a half I'm sitting at
eighty five thousand subscribers I'm
reaching millions of people per month
with these videos and what's happening
at this point in the mile specular brand
that you're watching right now I'm
delivering millions of dollars of value
how do I know that well I've created a
learn SEO course I've created entire
Facebook advertising courses I've
created entire affiliate marketing
courses email marketing courses I am
teaching what other people charge
hundreds if not thousands of dollars for
so now that I have millions of people
watching my videos many of those videos
are the equivalent of a ninety seven to
four hundred ninety seven dollar course
many of our playlists are as valuable as
a five hundred to two thousand dollar
course haha that is the desired result
that is me delivering millions of
dollars in value into the lives of my
audience and the net result of that is
I'm making affiliate sales to the tune
of tens of thousands of dollars per
month it's got a membership program
going where I have 550 or 600 members
paying me each and every month to be a
part of my inner circle where I deliver
added value trainings and I also answer
their questions in the forums etc etc
that's how it worked and the one factor
that I didn't I wasn't able to bypass
was time it still took time it took me
two years to get my platform growing to
the point where I was comfortable
with how much income I was earning for
the amount of time and energy that I was
expending today two and a half years in
now I'm starting to actually get a
little bit additional reward for the
amount of time and energy I'm spending
recording this right now while looking
for an event I'm in the tropics it's
freezing cold back where my home is
and here it's warm I'm wearing shorts
I'm enjoying it so I get some perks of
the lifestyle here but ultimately the
big point of this video is to make sure
that you're aware that work is not
everything right doing the work is
required but you can't as an
entrepreneur simply do the work and
expect to get the results you have to
analyze is this work product I'm doing
delivering value into the life of my
audience the answer that question is no
you're never gonna get to the income
level that you desire so we got to do
the work we got to put in the time in
the effort and then we got to make sure
it's actually delivering value to the
audience because that is ultimately what
brings back the money and the income to
you which is ultimately obviously your
only goal and this is why I don't love
Instagram for example this is very
difficult to deliver volume into the
lives of millions of people on Instagram
with a picture and a little comment it's
just extremely difficult to deliver that
kind of value whereas and how to blog
those you can literally create how to
blog posts that can teach people to how
to lose weight you can teach people how
to build racing drones how to make their
own pet food you could teach people a
lot of different things through blog
posts that they're actually already
searching for that's the value mechanism
same with these videos here YouTube
there's a lot of potential for making
how-to videos on YouTube that deliver
value directly to your audience that's
what I've been focused on so I want you
to ask yourself as we're closing out
this video are you just doing work for
works sake because you think doing the
work is enough aka
are you bringing an employee mindset to
the entrepreneurial game or are you
focus on the results are you focused on
how do I help my audience members
experience transformations in their life
how do I help them improve their lives
in drastic ways that makes them think oh
my gosh you are the absolute most
valuable person in
that world that's my goal with my
youtube videos is that people who watch
my videos think oh my god miles you are
the most valuable teacher on YouTube in
the world of keyword research or SEO or
Facebook advertising every video is
designed at that goal that's my goal
there I don't always hit it I try my
best right you're gonna try your best
you don't always hit it you'll do what
you can but that's the big difference
there are you creating transformation
are you really delivering the value and
then you have mechanisms that can
essentially align you with the income
that you desire
aka affiliate tutorials that are gonna
teach people how to do things with
affiliate products your own products
your courses your memberships physical
products whatever that is coaching
consulting etcetera etcetera there's a
lot of ways money can show up but the
money is a byproduct of giving value to
an audience and helping an audience
solve their problems and allowing
individuals from that audience to go
deeper with you
and as 100% opposite of the employee
mindset of did my work for the day
I'm done here I passed that paper across
my desk over and over and over I'm done
for the day because the clock says five
o'clock and that's quittin time
so which approach are you taking me
really honest with yourself because if
you're taking an employee mindset to the
entrepreneurial game you're going to
fail and you need to shift your focus on
to am i delivering results for my
audience they know about you it's about
your audience and that's the biggest key
