I'm not a very important mission today
so we moved about like four six months
ago I don't remember it's been a while
but I have a kegerator it's very nice
haven't set it up so when I moved I
emptied all the kegs
iein hooked all the beverage lines the
co2 typically what I've been doing is I
replace the beverage lines whenever I
move which happens to be every few years
so I clean them and everything but the
point is my mission today is I want to
get that kegerator operating so we're
heading to the home brew shop to
hopefully get some beverage lines and a
coupler so that I can get a couple
commercial kegs because I don't
currently have like my own homebrew to
serve so that's our mission today let's
see how we do that was a success I got a
bunch of beverage line here so we're in
good shape
and I got this coupler so I can hook up
a commercial keg and I already have one
of these so I'm in good shape there and
it's a great shop it's called the bald
Brewer right here I met the owner and
usually they like to talk about beer and
stuff so we had a nice conversation he
told me about the homebrew club that
he's in and all that stuff so that's the
hardest part is getting the stuff here
so we should be in good shape now okay I
kept driving and I was like hey I'm
pretty close to left-hand brewing which
is a really good brewery and I was like
I think they open at 11:00 it is 11:02
and I don't know if they have any like
the kegs that I need for the particular
size which is five gallon but we'll
check and that'll keep me from having to
go out again later in the day and the
least for one of the kegs that I'm
getting so let's see what what they got
all right we got it
they had me pull around back
to like get it he just brought it out
but check out these huge massive tanks
pretty amazing alright let's see what we
can do at home now
[Music]
you
we're in business now so I got the keg
into the kegerator it's been chilling
for a little while in it what I use is a
chest freezer so I could just show you
it says normal your normal standard
chest freezer I forget the size and you
may be thinking hey you don't have it
like frozen that's too cold for beer
you're right so I have an external
thermostat out here it has a temperature
probe right yeah and all you have to do
is set it for whatever temperature you
want it and sort of like the like
differential of like when you call it
sort of the temperature setting so I
have it set at 42 degrees and it'll turn
on the compressor until it gets to 42
and then when it gets to I think I have
it set for an 8 degree differential sort
of Swing and so if it gets up to 50
degrees the compressor turns back on and
then it'll chill it back down to 42 so
it doesn't run all that often and yeah
that's how I keep it at that temperature
right so just external thermostat and
it's good to go so what I have to do is
all the plumbing so let's look at some
of this stuff here so little bit of a
mess I would say basically this is all
the gas line stuff coming in here so
this is just where the co2 goes into the
kegs I obviously had all this already
it's pretty much hooked up all I have to
do is like screw in the manifold and
down here near Georgie's feeding station
this is all the beverage line so that's
the stuff that I just picked up I had a
couple links of it already and it yeah I
picked up like four more so I have six
links of links of this beverage line so
I'll need to plumb all that up now the
other thing that I have right here which
I meaning that in fact
carefully before noon these are all the
couplers and connectors right here so I
have to hook the beverage lines up on
one side and then on the other side of
the beverage line it goes into just
spigot and I have to put all this
together so really it's just putting
together a little puzzle I also have
little there like one worm gear clamps
right here and basically I'll be able to
tighten the hoses up so they won't leak
all the lines whether it's the gas line
or the beverage line and then I'll be
able to hook up the keg now the other
thing that I got was a this is called a
Senki coupler right here so this is what
hooks into a normal like keg not a like
home brewing style keg so I had one
already which is good but I picked up a
second one here brand new freshmen right
here because I want to have to
commercial kegs running at all times
because there's so many good beers
around here and I currently don't have
any or very little hombre oh I got a
couple kegs downstairs but I have very
little homebrew because I haven't brewed
in a while so it'll be nice to have like
two commercial beer is going like
upfront and then once I sort of like get
this hooked up probably be more
motivated to brew and I had a really
nice conversation with mark over at the
bald Brewer so I'll be looking forward
to getting some ingredients all right
I'm gonna get to work see what we got
going on here
[Music]
all right everything actually went
pretty good and I realized that this is
probably I don't know how many times
I've rebuilt a kegerator like this
probably I don't know six to ten times
something like that I've had bigger ones
and smaller ones and once or twice a
freezer died on me anyway the point is I
actually felt pretty confident putting
this baby together and we can don't just
go in a little closer here we do have
the six taps here which is really cool
and I have two of the commercial
couplers in here so we only have one keg
right here right now but we do have
another coupler down at the bottom don't
mind those rust spots down there it's
all clean it's just sometimes the rust
comes up and then we have the gas
manifold right here and then the other
side is over there I grew the system
over time and I'm gonna put the co2 tank
into the kegerator for now but when it's
all filled it can only fit the kegs and
no other like equipment in there so
anyway obviously you could only have one
beer at a time so having the two options
is kind of cool but it's not 100%
necessary I got a couple more things to
clean up you know I got the toolbox here
and I actually have like some of the air
over there and then there's beer there
and there's room and the kegerator to
put it in there because it's not full of
kegs right now so yeah plenty of beer
for right now
