5 Conversion Tips That I Learned From Clay Collins Of LeadPages



hey guys seven here from
calm in this quick video I want to share
with you five tips that I've learned
from clay collins from leadpages and I
was in San Diego but a month ago and
clay collins was speaking at an internet
marketing party sharing with you some of
the best of what he's learned of what
converts best and squeeze pages and on
websites when it comes to internet
marketing now if you don't know what
leadpages is leadpages is a service that
clay collins has it's very popular
amongst the internet marketing community
a lot of people use it and they have
different templates that you can use and
easily customized for different squeeze
pages landing pages different websites
different parts of your online business
and so if you need one of those websites
that asks ask someone for their name
email address you can just use one of
their templates that converts really
high already because they test it like
crazy and you can use that in your
business and just customize it and turn
it around and stuff and I'll show you
guys some of the ones that I use in my
business but I want to show you guys
five things that learn from him this
will be useful for anyone that's into
internet marketing or wants to have an
online business very valuable stuff for
me and I was just going through my notes
so that's why I decided might as well
record what I learned and share with you
guys because some of you guys would
benefit from it
but the first thing that I learned was
that when you have like an opt-in page
or a squeeze page or just maybe even an
opt-in box on your blog or website and
it says you know hey get my free video
or get this free report into your name
email and then it has like the name and
email box and then there's a button that
people press to get access to whatever
it is that you're gonna give them what
he found that converts better is getting
rid of that name and email box and just
having the button and then when they
click on the button a little pop-up
appears on their page on their browser
and just asks them for just their email
address and so this is called a two-step
opt-in process and they actually found
that that converts a lot better than
having that name and email box there but
actually having that extra step for
people to click on the button and then
have that pop-up converts better now I
my theory is that
a lot of people when they say the name
an email box they just kind of phase
that out and when you have less steps
for people to it's actually generally
easier so just removing the whole name
field can be really beneficial and just
having the email box but what happens is
when they just press the button you're
gonna get a higher click-through rate
because they're not seeing the name an
email box they're just gonna press the
button thinking that they're gonna
instantly get access to it but then when
you have to pop up appear now they're
more committed to actually enter their
email because they have that pop-up
appear they've already clicked the
button they've already decided that they
want whatever it is that you're offering
to give them and the pop-up kind of
grabs their attention and it's like the
first thing that they see that that
shows up when they press on the button
and so it gets rid of all the other
distractions that are around on that
webpage and so anyways that's what
converts best and that's one thing that
I've used with one of my squeeze pages
that gets like over 20 percent
conversion rate I have some that get
over 50 percent conversion rate which is
pretty crazy and high and I'll share
with you guys what those are but that
was a that was the first thing the
second thing was when were the best
times to mail out to your list or to
your newsletter and what he discovered
was the best times are Monday Tuesday
and Wednesday from 4 a.m. Pacific time
to three-peat to 3 p.m. Pacific time and
all this data that they have is based on
I think they get over a million opt-ins
per month so over a million people per
month are signing up for their
newsletters or squeeze pages for
websites of all their customers in their
system so they have a lot of great data
to see what what's working and what's
not working but I found this one pretty
interesting that those specific days are
when you're gonna get the highest open
rates on your emails and that you know 4
a.m. Pacific time which I guess makes
sense because it's 7:00 a.m. Eastern
Standard Time that was one of the best
times to start that early to send out
emails to your list okay another
interesting one was that Raw photos
outperform professional photos meaning
if you have a website
or a blog or whatever it is or a squeeze
page and you have that professional
looking photo of yourself you know maybe
you're in like a suit and tie you know
maybe you you know it's like a you've
had like a professional photographer
take that picture it looks really nice
very elegant and everything that
actually doesn't convert as better as
just having a raw photo of you of you
just maybe like in a t-shirt just just
in their everyday normal life that
converts better and my theory for that
is that people relate to that more the
people that are actually going to your
websites and your demographic and it
does depend on your demographic but for
most people they're not these
professional people in a suit and tie
and so they can't really relate to that
when they see you in it's like really
professional shot people actually
connect more someone that's just more
like them you know and I've actually
heard that a lot from people that watch
my videos and connect with me is that
I'm not this like professional guru or
anything like that I'm just like you
guys you know I just rest like a regular
person excuse me I stress like a regular
person and I don't have this like
professional image or whatever and I
guess if your audience was professionals
that are wearing suit and ties they
would relate to that more than just
someone in a t-shirt that just doesn't
look as professional but people
ultimately they look up to and they like
people that are like them and so they
can relate to you in some way and that's
always gonna convert better okay the
other thing was if you had like
somewhere let's say on your opt-in page
of your squeeze page and you had the
phrase download my reports or you had
the phrase download your reports which
one do you think would convert better
and the truth is is what converts better
is just having the phrase download my
report over download your report and the
reason is is that even though you're
kind of trying to say to them download
your report this is your report come
download it when people read it they
read the opposite they read that this is
your report not mine and so when you
have it's a download my report they when
they read it in their brain they see it
as this is my report
and so it's kind
an interesting thing and I kind of
accidentally stumbled upon this I think
because I've got a lot of videos that
are like my morning ritual or my life
plan but when people read it like even
though it's my life plan and my morning
ritual people read it they're reading in
their brain that this is their life plan
or their morning ritual if that makes
sense and the last one real quick was
they have something that is called lead
boxes which converts really well for
people which it's kind of like a
different concept where you can actually
just have a link in a blog post and when
they press on the link they have that
pop-up that I kind of mentioned to you
that just asks asks for their email
address to subscribe and this is kind of
like a new strategy that has converted
like crazy
for blogs and websites of just using a
lead box so if I had just a link on my
blog somewhere in a blog post I'll
demonstrate it for you guys in a blog
post I'll have it go along with this
video but if you just have like a piece
of text and when they click on the text
usually for most people it leads them to
like a new website or whatever but in
this case a lead box is having that pop
up and then ask them to enter their
email address and subscribe so that's
one thing that has been converting like
crazy it's kind of good news thing and
that that's what I like about clay
Collins and leadpages is they're always
kind of innovating and trying different
things so anyway so hope this kind of
stuff benefitted you in some way if you
have an online business you think this
is great if you don't have an online
business then you're gonna be like here
what am I talking about you know you're
gonna be kind of lost and confused here
but but this is just kind of stuff that
I was going through with my notes that I
learned wanted to record it get it up on
