hey miles Becker's here miles dr. calm
and this video I'm going to show you the
two different ways that I use the
Aeropress coffee maker it has snuck up
on YouTube and coffee is a big part of
being an entrepreneur right so let me
show you how I the two ways that I use
this first of all you can see here I've
got my water boiling so I'm going to
turn that off and I'm currently camping
in the Cascade Mountains
now I don't want to use boiling hot
water I wanted to cool down a little bit
below the boil and we'll go through both
methods the first method we're going to
do is what I call the inverted method so
we take one of the paper filters put it
inside of the little tray here and then
we put it on to the main Aeropress body
that as a clip and then I hang that on
the cup now I've got the Aeropress
scooper it's currently in my bag of
coffee the coffee grind is important I
like to use a espresso grind so it's a
very fine grind and then the bean choice
and one full scoop goes in the bean
choice is a very personal kind of thing
I do kind of a half-caf of espresso
beans so I find half decaffeinated half
caffeinated and that's because I really
like drinking coffee and I don't want to
over caffeinate myself but I want to
give myself the freedom to have two cups
if I'd like this point I'm not doing
temperature I'm not that geeky with it
but at this point I'm good on my
temperature and I'm simply going to pour
in to fill up the top cylinder but the
first thing I want to do is I just put a
little bit in if you notice it's just
kind of around that number one at the
bottom and I'm gonna give it a stir here
this is the bloom process it's
essentially waking up the coffee grounds
and if you've ever had hot water poured
on you when you wake up a little bit
goes a long way just kidding never try
that that's not a good idea so now that
I've got that in I'm going to top this
up to the very top and I'm gonna let it
sit for about 10 seconds or so it's
going to start slowly kind of pour over
dripping through but that's not the
ultimate goal I'm going to give it 4
stirs
don't really know why that's what I do
and then we take the plunger and we go
ahead and we plunge down the goal is
consistent pressure and takes about 10
15 seconds this is a part of what makes
the arrow press arrow press special is
that the grind the beans the actual kind
of like coffee is not in contact with
the water for all that long so it really
kind of minimizes the acidity and
actually kind of minimizes some of the
caffeine that you get out of it although
I think most the caffeine is released
early when the water hits it so we're
almost down and you'll notice you can't
really see it but when you do this
yourself you'll notice that it's
actually air pushing down on the coffee
so it's not the rubber stopper and
that's part of why they call it the
arrow press because it's air pressing it
down so nothing other than the plastic
cylinder really ever touches your coffee
so it won't kind of affect the flavor
and that's it that's the first cause
I've got it here and personally I like a
little coconut milk in it and I usually
pour extra hot water in it to top it up
kind of like an Americano and let's move
on to the second one so I'm going to
just take this and talk about a campfire
perfect alright so that was method
number one and here is method number two
honestly I do method number one a little
bit more often so my wife's cup here how
we're going to method two is we're
actually going to put the two cylinders
together and just barely catch as the
bottom then we put one from skin mmm
nice level scoop drop that right in then
we blew the grind the ground using so
just a little splash to whip it all up
quick stir here live in everything up in
there and now we fill it to the top
maybe just a skosh below the top there
we go let that sit for a few seconds and
while I do that I'm going to put my
filter on the kind of top portion just
slide that right in there
we'll be using that a second now that
the blinds have all floated
to the top I'm going to give it for
quick stirs and that's it now I've got
the paper filter in here they do make a
metal filter I have one but I just
bought a new arrow press came with paper
so I'm just going to use what they offer
easier for clean up with a paper but the
metal some people says it it there's a
big debate on which is better but use
whichever one you prefer so that's it
I've got it set up now I kind of
magically flip it over like a little
magic trick and I press down and again
it's that even pressure and this is kind
of what makes it more like an espresso
than a drip coffee is because of the
pressure that's pushing it through and
I've probably taken a little longer than
I normally would with the water in
contact with the coffee grind or the
coffee grounds but that's just because
I'm kind of explaining it to you and
honestly it's not a big deal but you
notice compared to a lot of other coffee
making kind of setups that the coffee
and the water are really in touch for a
minimal amount of time and you can kind
of hear the air flow right when it's
done and once it's done pull it off
again I'm gonna go drop off these grind
in the campfire when you're leaving your
arrow press you don't want to leave it
with the grounds in it because this
rubber seal that fits up at the top if
it remains in the chamber for too long
it will kind of mess up that seal and
that's the one thing that can damage it
if you push it all the way through you
can see it's got room to expand or keep
it separate just don't keep the puck of
used grinds in there with that puck
below but here we have it we've got our
two different types of Aeropress coffee
and that's it I'm going to add a little
bit of hot water just to the right kind
of amount for me and a little bit of my
coconut milk and that is how we do it I
hope you've enjoyed this video if you
did give me a thumbs up and I really
highly recommend the Aeropress I use
this not only when I'm camping or
traveling but this has been my home
coffeemaker for about two years now
so I hope you enjoyed I hope this gives
you a new idea on something to try with
your arrow press and if you haven't
tried an arrow press amazon.com Bed Bath
and Beyond I think it's the best coffee
in the world aside from a professional
buttery sell with a proper machine but
don't always
the you know coffee shop around so this
kind of gets us what we want thanks
again and I'll see you on the next video
