everyone this is bluffing from
projectlifemastery.com
and today I'm being joined by Steven
summers and Ricky who are the founders
of marketplace superheroes and today
we're gonna talk to you guys about how
to sell on Amazon in Europe Robert and
Steven have sold over 10 million dollars
of physical products online they
specialize in helping people sell on
Amazon they've had a lot of success
they've helped thousands and thousands
of people from all over the world
I personally been through their training
I think it's great that recommend and
said so many people over to them so I'm
excited to pick their brain today to
share a little bit about selling on
Amazon specifically the European market
how it compares to the US market and be
able to add as much value to you guys as
possible so Stephen Stephen and Robert
thank you guys so much for joining today
well I'm glad to be here Stefan as
always we love come on the channel give
them tons of value and today
specifically I believe so fine Robert
wouldn't be able to give so much good
stuff for all of you no matter you're
starting your more advanced from a below
so today it's really gonna help you grow
your business that's for sure
yeah I appreciate the warm welcome
Stefan looking forward to jumping in
with yourself and Steve today and
talking about not only Amazon and in
Europe but also a number of other things
as a state alludes to we're sure you
guys have pretty amazing stories and
know we've done webinars and trainings
together where you shared it before do
you guys mind sharing with my audience
that that doesn't know yet know you a
little bit about yourselves how you guys
got started and selling on Amazon and a
lot of the success that you guys been
able to create today sure go first run
well I guess my story starts before your
stage so maybe it makes a lot of sense
that that I kind of start off and you
know my my background comes from
wholesaling in in Ireland my father was
in it and then I just come into the to
the family business almost by default it
was always going to be but you know sort
of like lip 1990s early 2000s the likes
of the marketplaces were really common
two to the four on in terms of
e-commerce and I could definitely see
that almost almost definitely one of
those big big areas that you were able
to you know
harness without Harvin said bend your
own websites or anything like that and
we had a good range of products that we
were able to sell at that particular
time we were primarily selling in the UK
and the United Kingdom not even outside
of that inside Europe let alone in the
United States and a lot of our product
lines they were what we would call like
domestic so they were sourced in the UK
they were UK companies and then we were
selling in the UK against other sailors
and I then very quickly realized that
importing and taking a number of the
successful products that we that we had
was definitely the way to go forward
because you could reduce your pricing
control the market you control the
product as well and getting involved in
that and having a success with the
products then really spurned me on to
say well the fact that we're importing a
product that we already know does that
disqualify us from importing a product
that we don't know or doesn't line up
with our catalog well absolutely not
let's look at researching other products
that we can bring in use the same
process of importing use the same sales
channels and and go on from there and
that's really were you know that I have
Wow Mobile came from and the sales and
the turnover of our our business really
focused primarily online we got we moved
off the the wholesale channel but
whenever then myself and Stevens started
to get together there was a few
difficulties with the with the business
simply because we still have a lot of
those sort of domestic products and we
hadn't fully moved into the importing
scenario so I guess Steve that's kind of
where were you committing your story
structure overlap a little bit yes sure
so as Rob says you know I came along
trying to figure out what to do with my
life I was supposed to be the music
industry and then it didn't work out for
me and I was kind of stuck in a job like
a lot of people maybe watching channel
today was a data processor to take forms
on the computer all day long that's all
I did was really really boring and I
came to the point my life where I was
like emeriti twine
I just said to myself like what we were
gonna do with my life is this he or I'm
gonna do something more and so I had
always said to myself look I'm either
gonna be in business in music industry
and obviously the music thing didn't
work out so I thought I'm gonna have to
do business so I'm studying in college
for a little bit didn't finish college
actually and at the time when I was in
college I kind of started googling
around you know how to come out how to
make money on the internet stuff like
that and as you may imagine I found that
a lot of stuff was not very helpful and
I really became a kind of scam like you
know finally cheap products and trying
stuff out and really getting nowhere
fast and this was like you know maybe a
couple years of doing this again the
reason I love project like mastery is
because like my whole journey started
when I began to take control of my life
so reading I don't personally own books
sorry folks you know what I can do take
control responsibility all of them and
so it's led me down a path and of
realizing of asking myself okay this
internet thing it's like I need to find
somebody who's doing it so that I can
actually work with them I could learn
from them I can learn from us most and
that really brought me down the path of
what's a business where I don't have to
be an expert you don't have to build a
huge following online day one I can sell
something that I really believe in like
sell something that you know like for
example if I was gonna teach somebody
how to build my business I haven't
gotten online business but unfortunately
that's a lot of people kind of teaching
Oh teach this to teach that to teach
that stuff that we've seen all the time
and so I arrived there's physical
products and so Rob you know I got to
know through a family friend and you
just say Joe McCloskey is warehouse this
operation have and so I was really
excited my dear domain for the first
time in my life I saw really products I
saw real people packing those products
so really sales on the screen in front
of me and so I came for the first time
in ever I'm really started to believe
like something I actually do know and
with Rob's help
this is something that I can I can
definitely do and so I just said like I
gotta learn this from you
so he said look like dude dude you got
to do and I just basically went back to
work and said I gotta take a year's
break or something I said no so I may
stay quit my job work with Roberts
full-time for but nine months just
learning the business learning what was
going on and together we began to hatch
this plan we're gonna utilize Amazon
Amazon specifically across the world to
build a business selling a range of
products as Rob alluded to there
whenever I can long and we started
working together we have to really
reinvent the business we had to sell all
different types of products we had to
get rid of all the old products that
really were becoming quite saturated
we're starting to decline in popularity
like different because your accessories
products and things like that and so
together we shredded this process where
we can sell a product in any nation
Amazon that didn't matter and all we
were doing was finding simple little
gaps in the market on Amazon then we
take those products with Brendan
ourselves we didn't port them as Robert
said we sell them not just amazon.com
Amazon buckle UK but on amazon.com
dunkey Germany died fr France but I
teach pain yes sorry Donna I T Italy es
Spain then across to Canada a little bit
us and that's what we did you know so
we're doing this now a long time as I
said Stefan we've helped like over 3,000
people at this point experiments are
proving their business we've also built
a number of service based businesses
just so everybody knows like we we're
just all trying fancy we believe in this
business so strongly we've literally
stake our future on the business and
honor coins succeeding because we know
the freight company know people are
shipping products when I'm in North
America Europe
we're building a SCPA business for us
and for for Europe as well so we believe
in this business at 110 percent we're
helping people all the time and that's
where we're here today it's awesome
thanks thanks so much for sharing that
and let me ask are you guys primarily
just selling on Amazon or do you guys
also sell another channels
- like Shopify or WooCommerce store or
is it merely kind of focused on Amazon
you know we've we've focused on the
Amazon side of things simply because of
passivity you know whenever we look at
Amazon number one we don't have to set
up the site
we don't have to set up any credit card
transactions we don't have to get all
the all the bits together that really
are required for a website we don't have
to deal with outside traffic we don't
have to deal with shipping the item or
even in terms of customer services when
every year you're harnessing that power
of Amazon FBA and taking Eagles multiple
markets that's really where you get
ultimate passivity for your business as
well as the multiplication through those
from these - yeah because well just
again to go deeper against and like what
we call this their founders we call it
the marketplace model whereby we go to a
marketplace like Amazon or finding
product opportunities for then launching
those products across multiple
marketplaces and that's what we're
utilizing as well as some of Amazon's
inbuilt PPC as well table - big
advertising so we refocus down on that
many of our members you know honor cells
is what we have in delays junk eBay and
other marketplaces like that but really
right now the only American players
we're talking about is actually is where
the atmosphere it's funny because we
actually was both in the best - recently
- they just racing exited a company up
has launched when I was done it was a
travel who I was a good travel based
company and and he just said to us
they're like an Amazon zooming
marketplace before talking about right
now
a lot of people out there like they talk
about you know the literal website
building outside traffic and stuff like
that and we really defined that as like
the brand business model or while you're
starting with a brand you're focusing on
that and Amazon then is just one sales
channel within that brand ecosystem but
the way we can look at it is you know
honestly with airplanes a lot of people
they don't have the knowledge or skill
base to be able to successfully launch a
brand from day one
so we believe and we've seen a time time
again this marketplace business model is
a great place to start it's pretty
simple it's Robert said you know we're
using
Amazon's traffic I'm really then it's
just a matter of mastering the product
research process mastering launching
those products on multiple markets and
then for a lot of people they eventually
gravitates you moving to the brand
business model but we're really I think
for a lot of people it's just very
difficult to do from they've walnut
that's really why we focused on Amazon
was personally though you know we invest
multiple Amazon based businesses and we
see it all the time and really didn't
know when you do things the right way
and you know you don't again what we
call it one product especially you're
setting multiple products there's no
reason why you can't build you know from
a little tired or a full time income on
Amazon in the short to medium term and I
get in in the long term if you want to
move if you want to start taking your
best products that way then that's great
and some people will say like brands the
only way some people say the marketplace
model is the only way the way I look at
it is it just depends on where you are
right now your business in your life
your career and really just being aware
of the different business models are
actually and that's really be my answer
awesome and I know you guys sell all
over the world on Amazon but one thing
you guys specifically do is you guys
sell really well make European
marketplaces and there's people that are
watching this from all over the world in
the United States different parts of
Europe literally everywhere and I
wouldn't mind maybe you guys could share
a little bit about the European market
place because I'm not as familiar with
that as I am the US and Canadian
marketplaces but I know you guys are
what do you guys see some as some of the
differences or the things that people
should know if they want to sell on you
know the UK Germany France Italy etc I
think one of the big things that people
sort of think off straight away is that
you know it's age calm or nothing you
know the dot-com is the only place that
you should sale and it's the it's the
biggest place to sell know in terms of
country-specific
certainly the u.s. is the biggest
country from from that particular pot
but whenever you start to put Europe
together and you look at the populations
of the United Kingdom not around 70
million you look at
Germany at just over 80 million France
around 60 million Spain and around 40
million and Italy approaching 70 million
all of a sudden you've actually got more
population than you do in the United
States and together with that the fact
that there are other we call them
satellite countries inside Europe that
are nice starting to be added there is
much more growth available and potential
in the European market than currently
let's say in calm because they've
already launched Canada the North
American perspective they have launched
Mexico with so there's still some
difficulties there but I mean how much
further can they go in and that in that
area whereas in Europe they have the
likes of the Scandinavian countries in
Norway Sweden Finland Denmark they're
talking already about Holland the
Netherlands have in their own platform
they've already developed Poland and the
Czech Republic and there's many many
more that they can add in - as well as
some original countries having other
countries that they can supply - and
they share either a common language or a
very similar language for example where
we're from in Ireland a lot of people
are shopping on Taco dot uk' we share
the English language you can you can get
delivery there or Portugal let's say who
have a similar language to Spain or
Belgium who you know they share a
language with with France Switzerland
share language with Germany and so and
so forth it keeps going on so there's a
massive massive potential er in terms of
certainly the populations of inside the
European marketplace think of yeah and I
also as well it's interesting because
when you think of the structure of
things so if you look at Amazon FBA and
say calm there's modeled in fulfillment
centers that you'll be shipping your
products to and that can become you know
it'll be difficult for people times all
over the country sometimes multiple
locations you know I mean what makes the
goal for example be like you gotta ship
your stuff there err kinda somewhat
similar whereas the Europe you know
right now we call the Big Five hoodie in
Europe is there the five most about the
Manso UK Germany France
in Spain there something called FN which
is really cool nazi european fulfilment
network and something is just not
anywhere else and what it really means
is that you can ship all your products
that you sell on amazon you can ship
them to one place such as say the UK for
example ship all your products there to
one fulfillment center generally
speaking if your product oversize it may
have to go somewhere else but usually if
you've got standard safe products
they'll tell you one fulfillment center
you gotta ship them to now there are
multiple but you'll be told just one had
to do that which which makes it very
simple for number one and number two and
then closes the EFM what that means is
let's just say you make a sale in France
well you've got this one European
account within hours done and basically
if you imagine like a cake it's got
multiple layers you got a French flair
the German layer so on so forth you
would then translate your products you
listen to you miss them in France you
just activate them
well basically Amazon allow you then to
use wooden stock source so when you make
your sale on Amazon that far with your
translated listing that product will
shape from the UK to that customer in
France and you don't have to do anything
else that you don't have the sense about
France Germany etc you can ship it to
one place and that's really when people
ask us something else that I might maybe
want your questions there you know where
do I start with Europe we always say but
you can sell on all the European
countries that are available because of
this VF and and that's a really cool
thing that you may not notice everybody
watching today with something to really
consider because when you send
everything to one country starting out
as well you really simplify any like
issues that may be associated with
starting a new business you basically
have a UK company if you're starting the
UK for example everything's based there
it's not like you have to have five
different entities and really really
confusing so I'm gonna keep going here
step on the legs I know there's other
things people probably think of as we go
because they know the question that
usually jump so then is okay well then
let's say I'm gonna my stuff to UK
okay I'm gonna get a UK company
well the question may be well why do we
need that so what I'll do is throw the
rap then just
so I don't keep talkin if you want to
explain it up to everybody and Steph I'm
like why would you why would you use you
UK company I'll just do that but you
just keep your u of s con yeah
absolutely and just before we sort of
get into that because I can get a little
bit a long winded I know other people
think of that the other two equations is
you know translations you know different
languages in Europe as well as different
currencies well the currency ones very
very easy you've got pine sterling in
the UK and you're good euro everywhere
else so that is very very
straightforward there they have sort of
near enough parity of esteem and
therefore pricing up your items is very
very simple release the translations
again very very simple - not a big
expense
Spacely consider and you're not gonna
have to reshoot your your photography
your photography that you have for maybe
for the US market that's gonna do the
absolutely perfectly for that and all
you gonna do is simply translates the
titles and bullets and some keywords so
I mean I wouldn't allow anything like
that to put you off but in terms of
having that UK Anthony really it comes
down to three letters that a lot of
people know what a lot of people get
frightened of and that's v80 and
whenever you're bringing your products
into the European market place it is
much better to select one we always
recommend the United Kingdom simile
because it's the English language we
share that they have a very simplistic
importation system and structure and
it's very easy to get your goods in as
well as they've got a number of
fulfillment centers and Steve says you
primarily used one or two if you're
using oversized units and really that
v80 whenever you come in as a as a non
European and today v80 starts to become
a real pin and the but really really
soon because you have to register
straightaway and you have to start
paying out straightaway but also because
you're a non-european Anthony you don't
have what's called the distance selling
threshold and this restricts you from
only being able to sell in the one
country effectively whereas by doing a
simple UK limited company
you remove all these barriers and
restrictions you can get into stock
straightaway you can get
selling straight away and all of those
five countries you've now protected
yourself and not Anthony as well because
you know as we heard from one of our
network experts is if you want a serious
business
you better get serious about business
and never a truer word spoken if you
want to be doing business in Europe you
want to have a European and today you
want to be able to perform all the
taxation scenarios that you may come up
against I'm having a UK limited company
is so much easier to deal with
rather than having a foreign entity
sailing in a technically speaking in a
foreign land so that's why we really get
behind the UK and today and it's very
simple to set up we even have Network
partners that can do that for people
yeah I've no idea what the question was
in that case then I guess for a lot of
people they might live in different
parts of the world
can anybody select a UK UK company or
they have to live in the UK and then is
you know is the process where they have
to go to the UK to set set everything up
and set up the bank account or is there
maybe an option for some people if they
just wanted just to get the route you
know just get started
maybe spur as a sole proprietor and then
as they start selling maybe then a later
point in their business or usually
people kind of set that up first what
you're gonna want to do day one you're
gonna want to remove that sole
proprietor you want to go Annika went as
a limited liability number one you're
protecting yourself you're protecting
your company and you're also allowing
yourself to do business the right way in
in Europe it used to be a big thing you
know in terms of you would have to have
come to the UK set all these different
things up but thankfully slowly
things are changing times are changing
as we go forward and this is one area
where we can help a lot of people you
don't have to live in the UK you don't
have to live in Europe you can live
anywhere in the world and set up a UK
limited company nice to sell on Amazon
Europe you do have to be resident in one
of the countries that they are like
there is a massive list on it which we
can certainly provide all your sort of
your your regular countries that you
always see or like Canada America
Australia New Zealand they're all on it
and
as a big big list whenever you start to
maybe get into some more obscure
countries they may not be on the list
but for 95 percent of people listening
the countries will be on the list a week
in certain a provider the banking used
to be a big problem as well you know
with the banking industry and at the
money laundering and factor and all
those things that everybody knows
however with that network partner we're
talking about they can actually set up
your your banking options inside Europe
for your UK Limited company without you
ever having to travel here now that
saves three four grand straightaway
which you can invest into products to
you know add to your to your catalog and
that can be done with a couple of simple
documents notarized and sent across on a
number of simple forms to fill out a lot
easier than what it used to be two three
five years ago I think it's important as
well as their phones and not something
that a lot of people watching you might
be thinking to yourself oh this all
sounds really complicated this sounds
like something I can do I'm just
starting out like is this something
that's just want to completely overwhelm
me and I would say that the good news
for anybody watching it as Robert said
if you're serious for building business
and we know you are because you're
watching project life mastery which is
that's what's produced on this channel
and what I would say is that it's really
not that scary all you require is some
simple knowledge some simple guidance
and also do you know what makes a pretty
simple I honestly people like ourselves
we've gone out there we taken the arrows
in the back we know the process
backwards we know the simplest way of
doing things it's like anything you know
whenever you have people in will be
doing them they they know the path all
you got to do is follow what they're
telling you to do and you get results
it's like we know step on you know our
friend our good buddy Tony Robbins would
say you know success these clues and
it's the same thing in this situation I
think if they're only issues in this
zone right is a lot of people like
they're not and giving the help with
services in them and really support the
real-world things because I think like
whenever I started without my business
you know I used to think like online
business is like a different thing to
you know a traditional business but you
know the reality is
you have to deal with things like
taxation and you deal with things like
buying products and all that they're
completely normal because this is a real
business like any other business it's
just that it succeeds a lot faster than
most other businesses you know I think
it's important to anybody watching I
don't care if you're just a beginner if
you're more advanced like this is
absolutely doable for you but what will
get you there faster than anything else
is having the right strategy in place
having the right people that have done
it before and you don't have those
things yeah it can be tricky to do you
will get overwhelmed and I think that's
an important thing even like know Robert
money and their own liens you know we
have still coaches mentors who we're
learning from them because you know
somebody said recently the problem with
shortcuts is that they just take too
long I think that's the reality move any
business anything that we're doing so
when you have the right strategy when
you have two right people to follow you
got people already playing these
services in place for you you really
will find this is very very simple
everybody where is doable for you know I
I agree in it and that's why I often
emphasize getting the training getting
the right education because there's so
many different logistics and pieces to
this and you don't want to make the
mistakes and you guys have already made
the mistakes you've seen the mistakes
and you guys are saving people a lot of
that what a lot of people would have to
go through to spend learning how to do
things the right way is so highly
recommend their training and by the way
guys we're gonna mention this more at
the end but Stephen and Robert and I are
just gonna be doing a webinar it's gonna
be a little more in-depth share with you
guys how you can work with them about
their training their program and I have
a link in the description of this video
but also if you been a project like
mastery comm slash MPs then that can
direct you over there as well so just
gonna plant this seed for now now I'm
kind of going back to the European side
what I see is one of the biggest
benefits you guys are saying is that you
only need one fulfillment center and
that gives you the ability to launch
your product on multiple platforms so
multiple countries versus United States
or is kind of limited too so in the US
you have to ship your products across
multiple fulfillment centers within the
United States and so the European market
you're actually getting a lot more reach
and diversity because you know
I guess my next question for you guys
when you're doing the research would you
research on all the different
marketplaces in Europe so for example if
you're trying to sell a shaker cup let's
say you know you might find hey you know
what maybe it's a lil bit more
competitive in the UK but in Spain or
maybe in Italy there's a lot you know
it's less competitive there's more
potential there and so certain platforms
I guess it's kind of a lot less
saturated because you're able to
diversify across multiple platforms and
and you know be able to make money from
almost different platforms so you're
kind of spreading yourself you know
across a lot more versus just kind of be
dependent on the one you know ranking
that you might have on the amazon.com
website is that right yeah it's so true
because you know whatever you're
researching for your shaker cup as you
say you know you may start off with like
the UK market or the German market the
two biggest ones and you may want to
look inside like the French market and
then eventually you may not even want to
like check and the Italian and Spanish
because they are smaller doing your
research on the bigger markets but maybe
let's say as you mentioned the UK make
look competitive on that but the other
guys the other countries you're gonna
have real potential so whereas a door
might have been closed on the.com and it
would have been closed entirely at least
then whenever you're doing research here
that you've got four options out of the
five and whenever you talk about some of
the smaller countries the the catalogs
are a lot smaller as well so the
saturation on certain products is just
not there but whatever you look at the
