My 2018 Year In Review: Successes, Failures & Lessons Learned



hey everyone this is Stefan James from
Project life mastery comm and I want to
first wish you all a Happy New Year I
hope you guys are ready prepared and
excited for 2019 and that you're getting
your goals and resolutions ready so that
you can fully commit and make sure that
2019 is your best year yet now right now
I'm getting ready for my 2019 goals
lashley be now my seventh year of me
publicly sharing my goals on project
life mastery I started this back in 2012
when I first started project life
mastery and I I shared my goals with the
world and what it did was it forced me
to be accountable and follow through and
created pressure on myself where I was
not just accountable to me but I'm
accountable to all of you guys as well
which forces me to make sure that I
follow through I can't back out I can't
change my mind I can't you know not
follow through on it because if I do I'm
not going to be an integrity I'm not
gonna look good to you guys and by me
being transparent with this it forced me
to achieve a lot more in my life than I
ever could by myself
and so I'm getting ready for that for
2019 I'm gonna have that video in the
blog post for you guys pretty soon here
in the next few days so stay tuned for
that but before I plan 2019 I want to
show you guys a ritual and a process
that I do every single year which is I
like to first make sure
that I fully
reflect upon the previous year 2018 and
I hope you guys really watch this video
and take it in and go through a similar
process before you move on and start
planning for 2019 I'm gonna show you
guys first of all the importance of
celebrating ok celebrating all of the
good of the previous year 2018 to
celebrate and take in all of the
successes the wins the accomplishments
the actions that you did take ok not
just the ones that you failed you didn't
fall through take in all of the good
first ok the actions that you did take
the progress that you made the growth
that you experienced because I believe
guys that success breeds more success
that you've got to first acknowledge
yourself for all of the good that did
occur even if it was a tough year for
you listen I get it there were still
things that you can be proud of things
that you can acknowledge within yourself
that you did do and you've got to first
take that all in and celebrate that and
what that does guys is it gives you
certainty gives you confidence that when
you look back and you realize why you
know what even though it might have been
a challenging year I grew I did this I
did that I achieve this I all drew and I
said what I was going to do here or
there and that makes you feel good so
that you get certainty that when you
move into 2019 you're gonna take that
with you and you're gonna be able to
build upon that in 2019 and so in this
video I'm gonna demonstrate this for you
guys as I have in previous years and I'm
gonna share with you guys not all but
some of the biggest wins accomplishments
successes the goals that I did achieve
that I did set at the beginning of 2018
I'm gonna show you guys some of the
magic moments moments that I never want
to forget that I want to relive and and
really strengthen in my memories so that
I can have that and have it be a part of
me okay so I'm gonna share some of that
with you and then the second thing that
I'm gonna do in this video is I'm gonna
share with you guys to reflect on all of
the challenges because listen for me
2018 and previous years are not all
perfect I go through many ups and downs
I go through challenges growing pains I
make mistakes I have failures I have
goals that I set at the beginning of the
year that I said I was going to achieve
but I didn't follow through on and the
importance of this is for you to develop
awareness and extract the lessons from
that you know to really analyze why
didn't the year go the way that you
expected why was it that you set this
goal and then you didn't follow through
and achieved it what can you learn from
that so that we can take that with us
into 2019 so that we can get better we
can improve and hopefully every single
year will get better by doing this
process and that's what I found in my
life is by consistently analyzing and
reviewing my previous year I can take
the good with me I can look at what I've
learned
the mistakes the challenges the failures
the frustrations the stresses take all
of that with me improve upon it so that
2019 and further years in the future I
can get better and I'm not making the
same mistakes again and again and again
which is what so many people do and
that's why they stay stuck because
they're repeating the same mistakes over
and over again they're not getting the
lessons and the value from it so I'm
going to show you guys this process I'm
going to share and be transparent with
you guys about my year of 2018 and maybe
you guys can learn from this maybe you
guys will learn you know from my
experiences so that you don't have to go
through some of the same challenges that
I might have had to go through and you
guys can take this with you and benefit
by really encourage you guys to do the
same thing in your life before you get
ready for 2019 so I'm gonna pull up my
computer here I'm actually even being
Cougar Canada right now at a hotel been
visiting friends and family for
Christmas and New Year's before I head
back to Los Angeles and Panama and okay
so what I've got here guys on my lap I
got my blog post that is gonna be public
on project like mastery comm I'll have a
link in the description of this video
for you guys to check it out because I'm
not going to go through everything in
this video because otherwise you might
be here for a while
I'm gonna sure if you got some of the
biggest things and I'm still actually
adding to the list as well I've been
thinking about this and working on this
for the last week or so but I like to
still reflect and add a few things as I
go too so if you guys want to look at
more than details of what I'm sharing
with you here in this video or this
podcast because I'm going to go through
it relatively quick certain items if you
guys want more of the details of it or
maybe there's something that stands out
for you that you want to look into
yourself then you guys can just head on
over to project like mastery comm go to
the blog and you'll find the blog post
that has everything listed for you guys
okay so let's dive right in so first I'm
gonna share with you guys some of the
successes accomplishments magical
moments and celebrations of 2018 and I'm
going to go through some of the most
important areas of life what I call my
life
mastery blueprints which if you follow
my work you know that I categorize your
life into your health and emotions and
and you know mindset and finances and
career and mission and fun and spiritual
life and all the different areas of life
so I can make sure that I acknowledge
myself for the progress I did make in
those different areas okay so first I'm
gonna share if you guys health and
fitness get health and fitness so a few
things that I want to share with you
that we're accomplishments for me that I
want to acknowledge myself for and
celebrate was first all of the health
tests that I did I'm really a big
believer guys and not just being blind
about your health to have awareness the
more awareness the better of knowing
what's going on in your body sometimes
you know you might look at your health
and say you know I'm healthy I'm young I
got no symptoms or problems with my
health but that doesn't necessarily mean
that there's not things going on within
your body that you're not really aware
of there could be things that are
happening in your body that are actually
lowering your health vitality your
well-being disease could be actually
building up in your body acids man even
tumors your heart there's so many
different processes of your body that
can be improved and optimized and by
getting testing done it it really gives
you the full picture of what's going on
so that you can make improvements you
can measure it the actions that you are
taking as you go and so I don't like to
be blind about my health I take my
health very seriously I believe that our
health is our wealth and I want to make
sure I know what's going on I can
improve my health I can improve my
energy because most people that never
really felt or experienced amazing
energy in their life right because
they're used to living a certain way and
eating foods that are bringing down
their energy and they think that that's
you know they don't realize there's
other levels that they can experience if
they really go deep with their health
and fully optimize it and so I spend a
lot of time doing this in 2018 I've done
this for the last few years now and I go
deeper and deeper with it I work with
the natural path that Pathak doctor that
I trust and as a good friend so I can
analyze the different results of these
tests and
different adjustments in my lifestyle
some of the testing that I did get done
was a food sensitivity test to identify
what foods that I have a sensitivity to
that I could eliminate from my diet and
you know certain foods could be causing
inflammation in your body because
especially if you eat certain foods too
much your body can develop a sensitivity
to it
and it can affect you and I want to know
what those are so that I can replace
them or take them out of my diet and do
different testing and optimization with
that so I did a food sensitivity test I
did a micronutrient test actually
identify what nutrients vitamins and
minerals for example my body is
deficient in or I'm not getting it the
optimal range of I take supplements but
I think first of all you should try to
get what you can from whole natural
foods first and then you add supplements
if you're deficient in certain things
and I don't like to just flush my money
down the toilet with supplements that
aren't doing anything for me I like to
first get the testing done so I know
what my body needs maybe I'm deficient
in vitamin D maybe I need more magnesium
maybe I need more of this vitamin or
that mineral and then I can take the
necessary supplements or first try to
get it from Whole Foods but I can bring
those levels up and experience the
benefits from that so I did a
micronutrient test I did a bulletproof
labs baseline test which goes into
different different factors for your
health I did the heavy metals hair
analysis which is part of my mercury and
lead detox that I've been working on for
the last two years which happy to say
now I've been able to detox the mercury
and lead out of my body which took me
about a year and a half I've got videos
and blog posts that went more in depth
into that and how that was affecting me
and why I think it's important for
everybody to get tested to look at heavy
metals especially the mercury and the
lead because it has negative effects to
your health I did three hormone panel
testing to really optimize my
testosterone levels and my hormones I
did a Corolla G biomechanical wellness
analysis I did a metatron nutri soft
body screening test and I did a Geno's
DNA test which I'm actually still
waiting for the results back from
it's kind of like 23andme if you heard
of that it's a genetic genetic testing
and so you can actually see what your
genes are and you can learn more about
your DNA which can be really beneficial
if you know what to do with that
information so Geno's is similar to
23andme have already done 23andme years
ago but it's actually more comprehensive
and it also did a mitochondria test also
a comprehensive organic acid test you
guys can look more into this if you'd
like but yeah I did a lot of testing
which I'm so grateful for I do invest a
lot into my health every year at least
five figures into my health and body
because this is my vessel this is my
temple it's what allows me to do what I
do it's what allows me to serve you guys
to grow and without it I wouldn't be
able to do anything with my life so I
gotta make sure I take good care of this
incredible vessel that I've been given
and maximize it to his full potential on
top of that guys with health and fitness
I did I was pretty active with Fitness
worked out consistently about five days
a week you know some some weeks was less
some some would be more but on average
about five workouts per week and I
gained anywhere from five to ten pounds
I have certain moments throughout the
year where I'm focused on leaning out
more because I'm in a really good
routine and environment and then other
parts of the year has been more focused
on gaining more muscle and working with
different personal trainers and certain
programs to really put on that muscle
throughout the year so happy with my
fitness and how I've been able to gain
the muscle mass and overall the
endurance the strength that I've been
able to build I did a lot of biohacking
also this year I mostly do a lot of my
biohacking when I'm in Los Angeles or
when I was in Vancouver and when I was
living here when I travel around it's a
little bit more tricky because I could
only bring certain certain biohacking
stuff with me that I have in my
suitcases but I love biohacking because
you can make little improvements to your
memory to your cognitive function to the
recovery of your body to reducing
inflammation to optimizing the sleeve to
so many different incredible benefits
that I
I absolutely love so some of the things
that I consistently did in 2018 was
cryotherapy huge fan of it
you know when I'm a Los Angeles I'm
doing it at least once a week doing red
light therapy I have the device I've
shared you guys before in my bio hacking
video and blog post called the juve the
Jo ovv again this is all in the blog
post that I have but red light therapy
great benefits for that for your skin
producing more collagen even for your
hormones you get benefit for your
muscles recovery great benefits but also
when I'm in Los Angeles because I can't
travel with the it's a pretty big thing
I can't travel with that everywhere but
when I'm in Los Angeles I'll go to
bulletproof labs and use their red
charger the red light therapy device
that they have there I use when I'm in
Los Angeles that atmospheric cell
trainer which is actually one of my
favorite bio hacks it's basically when
you get inside this pod and you
basically takes your body to different
altitudes so for example your body will
regulate and go from let's say 5,000
feet down to a thousand feet it goes up
and down up and down and your ears are
popping because you're going to
different altitudes no different then if
you're at you know sea level and you
bring your body up you climb a mountain
to 5,000 feet totally different altitude
totally different oxygen it's a lot
thinner up there so what this does
though is by picking their body up and
down it's putting a lot of stress on the
cells of your body and it's like a
workout for them so they become stronger
and it increases your body's ability to
recover to detox and to take in more
oxygen and energy and ATP and all that
so one of my favorite things that I do
when I'm in LA I did a lot of PE m f
which is pulsed electromagnetic
frequencies I have my own mat for that
again I've shared this before I also use
my earth pulse asleep on command which I
put under my mattresses when I travel so
that helps me to go into a deeper sleep
great for recovery as well I did my I
got the violate that I shared on my
Instagram the other day
that is for bio photo modulation it's
basically a device that you wear on your
head and there's an intranasal device
that goes up your nose and it uses red
light therapy to stimulate your brain to
bring more oxygen and blood flow to your
brain to reduce inflammation in the
brain and it improves your cognitive
function of your memory your focus just
your you know your mental performance
but also it's really incredible if you
know someone that has ever dealt with
dementia or Alzheimer's because this
device has a lot of science to support
the benefits is provided for those
people so it's been great for my brain
health and I've been traveling around
with that now for the last month or two
vitamin IV drifts also used the zapper
which is from dr. Hulda Clark who is a
famous naturopathic doctor passed away
years ago but she created this device
known as the zapper which sends the low
level of electrical frequencies through
her blood and it stimulates her white
blood cells to fight off infection
fungus parasites mites bacteria amazing
benefits to it so anyways you guys can
learn all about that if you'd like and
study it but did a lot of biohacking
worked with a lot of massage therapists
and body workers did a lot of body
realignment sessions with the human
garage in los angeles which is one of my
favorite things to do to realign my body
I've done a video with them that's all
my youtube channel that I'll link to in
the blog post I finished detoxing
mercury and lead from my body which I'm
really happy about
I followed something called the Andy
Cutler protocol I've done a whole blog
post and video on that earlier this year
and yeah I'm really happy for that
because it was pretty scary the mercury
that I did have in my body and I'm so
grateful that I was able to detox that
and make those changes because it was
affecting me to some extent did a
parasite cleanse based on the work of
dr. halda Clark who's a coming to
parasite expert
I even clean healthy I'm going to say
five to six days per week you know I did
have moments when I was traveling where
I
went off my diet a little bit you know
is a little bit harder for me to get
access to certain foods that I'd have if
I'm living in one environment because I
did travel to 11 or 12 different
countries this year and I got a whole
list of the different cities I went to
so there are some challenges and not
being as optimal environment for the
eating that I like to follow in my life
but I'd say on average about five to six
days a week
I was pretty consistent with eating the
way that I want to eat I worked out with
my mini workouts with a personal trainer
that I had in Vancouver I invested in
the new aura ring which many of you guys
might know I used to have the black one
this is the new one that I got recently
the black one I had actually cracked it
was durable for quite a few years but I
actually accidentally cracked it they're
actually very durable I wouldn't worry
about that but this basic attracts my
activity my sleep my heart rate my body
temperature and it syncs with an app and
it gives me all this valuable data and
it's much better than like a Fitbit or
anything like that because you can turn
it off you can turn off the Bluetooth
which has negative effects to your body
by always having the Bluetooth and the
EMS that affect your body so highly
recommend it it's a lot smaller it's
pretty cool you guys can check that out

consumed a lot of wheatgrass shots
ginger sauce tumeric shots oil of
oregano apple cider vinegar organic
cold-pressed juices these are things
have always been important as staples in
my diet and health
there were times where I was up without
it when I'm traveling to certain places
but I still you know Tatiana and I we
always try to find wheatgrass or health
you know organic cold-pressed juices as
much as we can not the stuff that the
preservatives and is you know
pasteurized and all that I try to avoid
that organic cold-pressed as much as
possible and so that's been great for my
body my healing my immune system my
energy and did a lot of that this last
year got a lot more that I could go
through guys different supplements colon
hydrotherapy a lot of things I do for my
health but overall I've been able to
take my health to a new level I feel
great
more energy than I have in years before
and that's just because I've continued
to educate myself about health I
continue to optimize and improve it I
continue to read books I invest a lot of
money it's to probably tell to my health
and body but again I believe that your
health is your wealth and it's the most
important thing that you can have in
your life so I'm really happy with the
progress that I've made there I'm now
I'm gonna transition into money and
investing so financially 2018 was my
highest revenue and income year ever I
made more progress from 2017 which was
my highest year I just kind of continue
to grow every single year so to share
with you guys this year my goal was to
make three and a half million dollars
Canadian okay because my company
currently is in Canada and that's where
I used to live and I was able to
massively overachieve on this goal by a
million dollars I made four point five
million Canadian in revenue in 2018 and
the number that I have on the blog is
not exact because I do need to have
obviously my accountant my bookkeeper to
look over verify everything but it's
it's pretty much accurate in terms of
the overall number you know it's just
the little numbers and stuff but four
and a half million I'm excited for it
guys great year financially and it was
funny because I wasn't really planning
on really scaling up my income that much
in 2018
I wanted to focus more on other areas of
my life because if you go back to the
goals as I said this year back in my
goals reports my goal is to make three
and a half million dollars Canadian
while enjoying the process but also by
doing a lot less than I ever had before
and that was true I did do a lot less
than I had before and I was able to make
more money and I think that comes from
using more leverage in my life and
working a lot smarter not just harder
okay you don't want to just hustle work
hard you got to work smart too so that
is about I think three and a half
million u.s. dollars to give you guys an
idea so I'm grateful for that great year
financially one thing
I always mention that I'm proud of is
the money that I make what's more
valuable than that what I focus on is
the contribution and the impact because
that's the only thing that allows you to
make money your income is a direct
reflection of your contribution by
creating products and services in a
business and you add value to others you
get rewarded financially for it from
that and the reason why I've been able
to scale my income that's because I
always focus on over delivering by
giving people more value than what they
pay for and by doing that you create a
raving fan someone that loves your
business and loves you and they're gonna
keep coming back for more and I've been
able to build my brand project life
mastery based on that mindset and I
welcome you to take on that mindset in
your life instead of focusing on just
the money focus on the impact and the
contribution that you can make because
you will be rewarded financially when
you're solving problems and you're
meeting the needs of either an employer
or the customers or the market okay so
I'm excited for that I invested hundreds
of thousands of dollars into stocks
bonds ETF's
real estate investment trusts digital
currencies like crypto currencies I
don't have that exact number right now
2018 is an interesting year III
overachieved on my goal I had a goal
this year of make of having a six
million dollar investment portfolio
which includes a real estate property
that I have includes all the stocks that
I own the index funds that the REITs
cryptocurrency all of that and I was
able to overachieve on that goal I
achieved it quite a few months like
midway through 2018 but I stopped really
being involved in trading actually for
that kind of like the second half of
2018
mostly because as you guys know I moved
from Panama to sort from Canada to
Panama
and there was a lot of logistical things
I had to go through with that because
but by becoming a non-resident of Canada
I could no longer have the brokerage
accounts so I actually had to set up and
move all of my positions and assets to a
different brokerage account inside the
United States and that was a pain and
a lot of things had to get updated with
that and the new platform that I have is
actually a little bit complicating this
new brokerage account it's not as simple
as what I was doing before and so I
haven't been and I've been so busy with
the traveling the move that I just kind
of took a bit of a step back from
investing although I did do a lot of
investing I invested over $50,000 just
before Christmas because the markets are
down so my investments are down because
the stock markets are down but I'm still
up a lot and I still have a lot of money
that I save and do invest but I look at
when the markets are down if you watch
my investing videos it's an opportunity
to buy some of the stocks that you own
at a discounted price right I hope for a
recession not for you know I know a lot
of people lose their jobs and you know
not in that perspective but from an
investment perspective I want there to
be a recession which traditionally has
happened every 10 years or so the last
one was 2007-2008 so we're due for
another recession there's always a
correction at least every year where it
drops up to 10% and so I always like to
make sure I have a lot of cash available
so that I can invest in those moments
and buy these investments at a cheaper
price because the stocks that I do buy
are all blue chip companies for the most
part and their company is that you know
long term over the next five 10 20 30
years will go up okay that's the mindset
that I have so I'm a long-term investor
and so that's why I do buy when it's
when it's low when it's down because I'm
giving these great companies at it super
price so I you know received I got to
verify this number but in 2017 I
received over eighty five thousand
dollars from dividends from my
investments my stocks because I'm a
dividend investor I buy stocks that have
a dividend and they pay a yield which is
great passive income and for me it's my
favorite kind of passive income that I
make because it's usually taxed the less
as a passive income and is as Reyes
investment income so where you live
usually is taxed a lot a lot less to be
income that you make in your business
but also it's very passive in the sense
that there's not much maintenance
involved in those investments it's more
of a set and forget and you can have
your investments on a drip which is a
dividend reinvestment plan so that the
dividends they go to buy more shares of
that stock and so 85 brands there's more
than that in 2019 I don't have the exact
number but it is something I still still
celebrate and get excited for because my
long-term investing plan is to build up
my critical mass of my investments so
that the dividends and the passive
income I receive from those investments
fully pay for my entire lifestyle okay
that's my goal it's not for my business
to pay for it but my investments to pay
for it because your investments are
totally passive when you set them up
that way versus your business there's
your you always have to adapt and evolve
with business it's not totally passive
okay let's move on to business goals
guys I got a lot here so I can we'll go
through some of the biggest ones so
something I'm most proud of and want to
celebrate with you guys is in 2018 I
published a hundred and sixty videos on
the project like mastery YouTube channel
ok so there's about three videos a week
I published one hundred and twenty three
episodes to the project like mastery
podcast
200 blog posts on the blog okay to 200
articles my youtube channel got 12
million views over 12 million million
views with over a hundred million
minutes of watch time which these
numbers blow me away okay it's hard to
kind of wrap your head around them and
240,000 new subscribers which is very
cool so great year for the project life
mastery YouTube channel really happy
with how many people I've been able to
reach an impact that's over a million
views per month and the impact that I've
been able to make with this is is
remarkable it's you know and you get
rewarded for being consistent you get
rewarded for putting out content and
adding value which is something that
obviously is a big part of why I do so
well you know I'm just trying to add as
much value as I can with every video and
every piece of content and you know you
get rewarded for that so very excited
for that the
site got almost 1.3 million unique
visitors and 3.8 million pageviews okay
now this is a goal that I did not
achieve because I had a goal of 2
million unique visitors but again I'm
right right now you know we'll go over
the challenges a little bit later in
this video right now I just like to
acknowledge Wow
1.2 almost 1.3 million that's amazing
you know fill yourself up acknowledge
that don't beat yourself up because you
know that's something to be proud of
right that I'm excited about so okay the
podcast got over 750,000 listens or
downloads the group my email list of
active subscribers beep grew to over two
hundred thirty three thousand
subscribers reached many many more
people get all the numbers here we'll go
through it all on my instagrams my
facebook my Twitter I host an online
business mastery mastermind event in Los
Angeles the twelve sessions of my life
mastery accelerator and my online
business mastery accelerator programs
which are my monthly mentoring programs
every single month I do an in-depth
training and I coach a group of people
in their lives and their business
coached and worked with hundreds of
hundreds of people individually on their
Amazon businesses thousands and
thousands of new customers that invest
into my training and programs added you
know improved all my courses and
products adding new training programs
created some done-for-you services such
as the website setup service affiliate
marketing mastery funnel service and the
Amazon funnel service these are bonuses
that I've provided for affiliate
marketing mastery for amazing selling
machine for the different products that
I have which has been really cool
because now I'm helping people get
results faster and I'm saving them time
so I have my team that I've trained to
set these things up for people when they
invest in some of my programs and
bonuses which saves people time helps
them get success a lot faster which I'm
really happy about so that was a great
success in 2018 I mean I gave away
thousands and thousands of dollars worth
of prizes we did a lot of giveaways on
you
- on Instagram giving away iPhones and
iPads and Kindles and GoPros all of my
courses so happy with the difference
that I made there in my business I
created some new ebooks mostly is
bonuses so for example one is my fast
track to profits ebook bonus that's
inside affiliate marketing mastery I
credit the affiliate marketing mastery
blueprint ebook so creating some great
ebooks that I give away on my webinar in
my my courses did a lot of partnerships
I did a lot of affiliate marketing with
some great companies great products that
I went deeper with amazing selling
machine 108 challenge jungle Scout by
optimizers marketplace superheros just a
lot of great programs have benefited me
that I've shared a few guys that a lot
of people have benefited from so happy
about that did a lot of interviews and I
didn't count up the exact number of
interviews but it was a lot and I like
interviewing people because I don't
always have to create the content for
those videos and I can have someone else
that has a different perspective on
things or their experience that I can
bring to you guys to inspire you and
share with you different perspective but
also I learned from those people and I
get a network with them and build a
relationship with them too which is
really cool so some of the people that I
interviewed in 2018 was like Evan pagan
who's someone that mentored me a long
time ago onyx and gall and Gary Ryan
Blair and you know Greg Mercer and a lot
of very successful Amazon sellers that
are doing six figures and seven figures
in their businesses
Roger loved the number one a vocal coach
in the world Mike Rasheed you know huge
youtuber and Instagram or so a lot of
great collaborations and interviews and
content I was able to share there for
you guys I also made a lot of new hires
in my team to build my foundation so I
hired an email marketing specialist an
SEO specialist I hired the tech team
that's doing the website and funnel
setup services
I hired a funnel specialist that was
creating my funnels for me my business a
pay-per-click advertising specialist as
well as running Facebook Ads for us and
doing retargeting I hired a videographer
in Los Angeles for my events that I do
there a tech support person that's
helped us optimize and improve our the
technical aspects of our business and
the websites and everything so a lot of
