The Entrepreneurial Mindset: How To Turn Your Mess Into Your Message

I think it's a constant practice to just
realize that whatever path you're on is
perfect and yes you can cut the learning
curve absolutely you know one of the
things that I mentioned to you that I
wanted to talk to everybody about was
this concept of FML right so f my life
I'm sure everybody can relate to that
you have things happening you're like
god how can this keep happening to me
right and I used to say that to myself a
lot I catch myself going like why can't
I just get a break I know for myself the
challenging times have gone through have
often been my best times I think in the
moment you don't see it that way
but when you have that over time you
look back and you see how you've grown
from that sometimes those disappointing
times of those failures the pain of that
caused you to re-evaluate things and
make a new decision which can lead you
in a better direction even with ment
like put it this way if I was to say
self what would you do differently if
you could start over 15 years ago and to
make different choices along the way I'm
not sure that I would have like went
straight into like finding a mentor and
learning from them right away I feel
like it would have benefited me as well
but I also look at my path to get here
and this is kind of going back to the
FML thing it's like it was perfect you
know I think there's there's always a
positive aspect from it but you just
have to look for it you know you got to
train yourself whatever you're going
through right now there's good from it
but you just got to find what that good
is it's making you stronger it's making
you better what can you learn from it I
think sometimes you almost have to go
through the ups and know you do you out
you have to go through the up scene
I like being at a conference like this
to see all these people that are
successful right or what you deemed to
be successful you think I should be
there or why am I not at that place and
I realized that like having that mindset
without resetting the way I see how I
how my life Direction is going was what
was holding me back it was this idea
that I needed to think about it
differently it's not F my life it's
really like wow how is this allowed me
to grow and get to that next level
hey everyone this is Stefan James from
project life mastery and I'm sitting
down right now it's a good friend of
mine Trevor Turnbull who some of you
might recognize I've interviewed before
Trevor is a master of LinkedIn marketing
he helps business owners be able to
generate leads for their business by
using LinkedIn and today Trevor's gonna
be sharing with you guy is his unique
story the story about how he turned his
mess into his message today and I think
this is something that a lot of people
can relate to because you know we've
gone through many challenges and adverse
end know you've been t
hrough many that
you want to share here today absolutely
and I think a lot of you guys can
connect with it so Trevor thanks for
taking the time they yeah thanks buddy
it's good to see you again
one year later right we said this last
time we did a video together yeah it's
been great annual yeah yeah so do you
mind if we haven't really dived into
your story the last video that we did
will link to it for you guys
highly recommend to check it out if you
want to learn more about LinkedIn but
I'd love to dive into your story in the
entrepreneurial mindset which is such an
important thing because there's so much
information tactics all that's out there
but it's the mindset I think that really
makes a difference yeah and how far you
go in your business so you might share
with people a little bit about your
story about what you went through to get
to where you are today yeah totally and
I'm grateful for you to allow me the
opportunity to do this obviously I know
I've had a lot of people connect with me
saying that they saw our last video
together and it really allowed me to to
launch a whole brand new business which
I know will talk about as well but as
far as my story like the reason why I
wanted to tell my story is not an
egotistical self-serving kind of a thing
it's more to try and serve other people
to say you know we're gonna go through a
bumpy journey it's normal and your life
is gonna change your values are gonna
change over time and and I've seen that
firsthand and it was really challenging
for me to kind of go through that and to
realize as you said and like just like
we're gonna title this video that my
mess truly is my message because a lot
of times I would try and create this
perfect persona of who I thought I was
supposed to be or the success that I
thought I was supposed to share with the
world and I realized that actually being
a vulnerable honest person actually
allowed me to attract exactly what I
needed in life
hopefully other people will be able to
take away the same thing so to give me
the summarized version here without
going to too far back into everything I
am best known as a LinkedIn trainer I
guess like for the last 10 years or so
I've been doing LinkedIn training and
we've had a lot of success with it we've
got like 27,000 people go through our
training and you know been an
entrepreneur for like 15 years and I've
had a lot of failures along the way and
I think and you know what somebody said
this to me the other day like you know
stop saying failure it's not a failure
it's either it's an opportunity to learn
right so you know on that journey it's
included you know starting numerous
ventures some of them successful others
not so much having a realization along
the way that you know as I was selling
information so just online training that
people weren't necessarily getting the
results that we were hoping for they
some were you know seeing it through but
others were just hitting a wall right
and I was kind of going through the same
thing myself you know about a year ago
so just kind of jump up to like the last
year since the last time we talked
really last February or so I decided
that I was no longer gonna sell
information products so just straight up
training without provided supports or
mentoring or anything like that and I
did so very quickly after attending a
mastermind and then about two weeks
later my wife and I had a son who was
born 16 weeks early which was insane
like we had actually been through
something similar before but it was only
six weeks early previously so 16 weeks
early for those of you that have kids
like this is like borderline of this
baby being able to survive and we had
lost the child actually around the same
time
like a year before so needless to say
was kind of chaotic right I launched
into a new mentoring model I was fully
committed to it now we were driving to
the hospital spending two three hours a
day there each kind of alternating
taking turns starting to grow my
business bringing on new clients going
through the growing pains of bats
building up my team all these things and
you know one of the things that I
mentioned to you that I wanted to talk
to everybody about was this concept of
FML right so after my life I'm sure
everybody can relate to that you have
things happening you're like god how can
this keep happening to me right and I
used to say that to myself a lot I'd
catch myself going like why can't I just
get a break you know or like being at a
conference like this and see all these
people that are successful right or what
you deemed to be successful
and you think I should be there or why
am I not at that place and I realized
that like having that mindset without
resetting the way I see how how my life
Direction is going was what was holding
me back it was this idea that I needed
to think about it differently it's not F
my life it's really like wow how has
this allowed me to grow and get to that
next level so when I started to build up
my personal sites
I thought about three words that's kind
of define me and my personal values as
they've changed and the first one was
family second one was mission and the
third one was legacy and then I realized
that it actually spelled out FML and at
first I thought like wow I can't use
that that's like totally contradictory
of what I'm trying to like teach people
like you know I want you to be
successful right but I just realized
that like if I embrace the fact that
it's FML doesn't have to be like victims
story poor me but instead how can this
allow me to grow and support other
people with whatever I do it's super
empowering and I think it can be for
other people as well yeah
totally so you know we've I think
everybody can relate to that maybe not
the exact same skill as you but the
challenge is the adversity comparing
yourself to other people feeling like
you know you're not making the progress
you want to make so I guess what's the
mindset behind that that can serve
people yeah well you know what's I think
more than anything especially if you are
entrepreneurial which of course
everybody that's gonna be watching this
is probably entrepreneurial you may be
working for somebody or a company right
now but maybe you have that little bit
inside of you that says I want to start
my own business it is hard to do it on
your own you know like there's a lot of
amazing videos just Google you know
Stefon project life master you're gonna
see all kinds of stuff but you know
being able to surround yourself with
other people when you hit those walls
and you're going through challenging
times is important because the mindset
side of this and you know even in our
mentoring program now we started off by
building it saying all right we're gonna
show you a systemized way to use
LinkedIn as a lead gen source build a
funnel teach you how to sell that all
the challenges and we started our
mentoring program that way and then we
realized people were still running into
these hurdles they were stopping
themselves they were either over
analyzing everything not doing the work
some people were just doing the work but
not thinking about why they were doing
it or how it built into everything and
we had to shift what we were doing and
now big components of our program is
mindset and not just like here's a
couple videos it's like it's a weekly
thing and we show up to meetings and we
talk about wins and challenges that
we're integrating and wins are not
always just financial like so most of
the time they're you know hey my my
dad's in ICU right now and then a week
later he's he's out you know like we've
had people share these kind of stories
on a really personal level and you just
see their energy change you see the
results of their business change that
energy on a personal level ties directly
into your business
everything that you do so yeah it's it's
a it's a challenging thing it's why I
wanted to talk about the topic yeah and
I know for you we have a lot of similar
entrepreneurial friends a community and
I think that's such an important thing
to have yeah but also mentorship too I
know you're someone that's always
invested in yourself masterminds and
mentorship and you spoke about it but
has that been something that's really
helped you a lot to make these
transitions and to get through some of
those challenging times you went through
yeah totally you know I've taken
probably a similar path so a lot of
people watching this which is you know
we have access to so much information
now you can google anything you probably
find an answer to everything
and you can try and do everything on
your own but it doesn't always get you
to where you need to go sometimes you
can't see those blocks that are so
obvious to somebody else we actually
spoke about this at an event I was at
yesterday the idea of like you know what
is it worth for you to have somebody
that has 15 20 30 years experience in
something say I see you going down the
wrong path you should pivot and go this
way how do you put a number on that you
know so valuable and it's hard to value
it's hard it's hard for people to see
that and even sell that you know but a
lot of it comes down to like just
knowing your own personal value of
personal worth - I see that all the time
with people and one of you know being as
someone who creates content online I
love it because I can at least share my
message and influence people but one of
the biggest frustrations that I have is
that there are so many people out there
that consume my content they love it and
it's great I love that they love it but
one thing that was disappointing for me
is how few people actually implement it
and one thing that I often talk about is
there's levels of mastery there's like
the knowing phase yeah but you can know
what to do but not do what you know
you're not gonna get results if you just
know something but you don't actually
apply it and so I found there's always
been this mental shift where people they
stay in this phase of just wanting to
learn right they just want to watch
video after video or maybe they invest
in the courses or they go to seminar
after seminar they're like the seminar
junkie and in some ways there's like a
mindset that's preventing them from the
fear of actually implementing it because
they get a sense of its they feel like
they're making progress yeah
right because they're you know having
different shifts in their mindset but
they're not really making progress
because they're still staying within
their comfort zone they have a fear of
taking action because they afraid of
failure a rejection or putting
themselves out there or disappointment
and so the next level is doing right but
you can do something once in a while it
doesn't mean you're gonna get lasting
results and then the third level is
living but I find it that's the biggest
thing that prevents people it's not the
information there's so much of it out
there but it's trying to get people to
actually do it to the point where
they're living it consistently and I
think sometimes the information is a
detriment because it leads to as you
said information overload analysis
paralysis I think at least like buying
it a course is better than just in my
opinion just consuming mindlessly all
these videos because some more organized
yeah because a lot of people they're so
lost it's like they're learning LinkedIn
it great and then they watch this thing
on Facebook and then this and this and
they're trying to do it all and they
don't know how to piece it all together
right and then sure enough they just
don't even know how to start to make any
progress with it so I think the
direction piece is is valuable but also
I think the community and the mentorship
I think what it does on a mindset level
is it gives people confidence and belief
because I think a lot of people they
need that belief like I'm not alone this
is gonna work I have help in my corner
and that is always for me it's giving me
an extra layer of just confidence that
like hey you know I'm on the right path
like here right the traffic and
conversion summit and I've always found
a coming to an event like this it makes
it more real and exciting and it creates
more belief and confidence of this
online business world yeah it totally
and it is an addiction like the working
aspect of what we do my wife always says
this actually that like you know a
workaholic is the worst kind of holic
that there can be because it's deemed by
society as being okay but it actually is
probably something that like holds us
back and even physically hurts us you
know because you know anybody that's
watching this you can probably relate
like if you are passionate about being
an entrepreneur you're probably working
at midnight when the kids are sleeping
you know I know that's that's me right
and being able to find that balance
and kind of you know put your mind at
ease and this is where practices of you
know building habits and meditating and
all that kind of stuff are just so
critical because it allows you to know
that you don't have to burn yourself out
to actually be successful there's a
there's something that's happening in
our space too in the last like five
years the whole hustle mentality right
you hear a lot of people talk about a
the Gary B's of the world and whatnot
and I think there's a shift happening
though it's more mindfulness of like you
don't have to be caught in the hustle
and burn yourself out to be successful
both personally and in the eyes of other
people or however you want to define it
it's about balance it's about knowing
what your personal values are knowing
that they change over time and that
whatever you're going through is normal
okay you're probably not the first
person to go through it so surrounding
yourself with people you know like this
why I like connecting with you and other
people that are doing amazing things
that are also very transparent about the
fact that you know what life is not
always exactly how you expect it to go
so how do you you know become water how
do you Evan flow through all of these
ups and downs I think there's more
awareness now - which has been good
about some of the detriments of just the
hustle mentality I know for example a
lot of entrepreneurs been going through
burnout and sharing that's a real thing
that you can get burnt out if you don't
take strategic breaks and and also have
some of these practices of meditation
and these habits that allow you to calm
your mind because as entrepreneurs our
minds are just so active sometimes and
also with your business sometimes it
doesn't end right like it can work you
know emails and messages and all these
things that can happen that can consume
your life not unless you have the
discipline to still prioritize what's
most important for you and I think a lot
of people get lost in that journey
sometimes yeah let me ask you this
though do you feel that you know someone
that maybe is watching this that says
maybe they have a nine-to-five job
they're professional but they want to
build a business in some ways they're
gonna have to sacrifice something or to
put in the hours in the evening times or
weekends to try to get to chain
that do you think maybe it might be
necessary to go through a phase of that
to kind of get yourself out of that
position or what do you think would be
the best path yeah honestly like it's
even with Mitch like put it this way if
I was to say self what would you do
differently if you could start over 15
years ago and take it you know take it
make different choices along the way I'm
not sure that I would have like went
straight into like finding a mentor and
learning from them right away I feel
like it would have benefited me as well
but I also look at my path to get here
and this is kind of going back to the
FML thing it's like it was perfect you
know and it took me a long time to
really see things like that so like to
specifically address your question I
think sometimes you almost have to go
through the ups and know you do you out
you have to go through the ups and downs
and it but it's how you see the the
downs like I I did a presentation with a
good friend of ours Matt asked that
actually on his stage for Internet
masterminds talking about these ups and
downs in the entrepreneurial journey and
I used the graphic of he probably seen
it before right like things are going
good oh my god I'm gonna be broke soon
you know and I was very transparent in
showing them like here's what our
business is done in the last six months
and here's where we're at right now and
I think I'm on this curb that's going up
but I don't know
and sure enough like a month later you
know we were still consistent with our
revenues but we had some stuff go on
internally in our business they kind of
threw us for a loop and you know just
just family stuff and like you know we
bought a house and now we're
transitioning you know trying to prepare
for the move and I didn't know what was
about to come down I thought we were on
our way up and all of a sudden we're on
our way down again you know so I think
it's a constant practice to just realize
that whatever path you're on is perfect
and yes you can cut the learning curve
absolutely I you know I would 100%
recommend investing a little bit more
than what you normally would even in an
formation product or something just to
be able to get the guidance or have the
community it doesn't need to be
one-on-one hundreds of thousands of
dollars you know you can find really
really great people to kind of help show
you the path and surround yourself with
a great community and then just trust
that you're you're gonna be on the right
path yeah yeah I think also you know I
know for myself the challenging times
I've gone through have often been my
best times I think in the moment you
don't see it that way but when you have
that over time you look back and you see
how you've grown from that or how it
sometimes those disappointing times with
those failures the pain of that caused
you to re-evaluate things to make a new
decision which can lead you in a better
direction yeah and it's sometimes it's
not until we experience maybe you know
that pain that we've gone through and I
think I think the blessing too of what's
come from this is it's allowed you to be
able to serve people at a different
level too because you've gone through it
and whatever you have the pain of in
your life and you overcome it you have a
passion for and you want to share that
and inspire and help other people go
through overcome that as well so yeah I
think there's there's always a positive
aspect from it but you just have to look
for it you know you gotta train yourself
whatever you're going through right now
there's good from it but you just got to
find what that good is it's making you
stronger it's making you better what can
you learn from it yeah yeah and and do
it quicker that I think that's the key I
think that's what gets easier over time
as you start to write really embrace the
fact that your mess is your message that
the things you've gone through can
support other people because it makes
you more relatable I wrote an article
for entrepreneur actually talking about
seven deaths I called them some of them
were actual deaths my wife and I lost
two babies preterm birth at like
nineteen and twenty three weeks before
we had our kids and it's what put us in
a tailspin for a couple years you know
but now we have two beautiful little
boys and those two guys they wouldn't be
here if it wasn't for those experiences
so what what seemed to be the most
devastating thing that could have
possibly happened to us turn into the
greatest blessing and I wrote about
other things like you know
was married before I went through a
divorce and it was just you know I felt
like a failure right like was a
repeating pattern it was just you know I
was sleeping on my mom's couch when I
was 35 you know and I thought my god how
can my life get any worse than this but
it sent me down this path right now and
I you know speak of other things like a
cousin that committed suicide when I was
20 that brought our family together but
in a moment it just felt so devastating
everything that happens in your life
truly does happen for a reason and I
know it sounds a little fufu sometimes
but you know like we attract exactly
what we need in that moment to kind of
get us to that next level so the less
you resist that and go with the fact
that like all right times are tough
right now but this is exactly what I'm
supposed to be doing you know and just
surround yourself with good people like
the fact that you are watching this
video right now and you found Stefan's
channel as well like consume this
content surround yourself with other
people that are doing the same thing or
wanting to level up to a different way
of thinking about how their life is
deemed as successful you're on the right
path yes what do you think prevents
people from reaching out for help like
mentorship ego yeah thinking they can do
it all themselves yeah yeah and I and I
always say everything that I do like
pointing back at myself is like that's
the only reference I can really use but
you know I I didn't take a lot of help I
thought I can figure this out I'll do it
all on my own and it wasn't until the
last year that I really started to
invest in myself and mentorship as well
that I started to see things kind of
rise up a level it's a big one though
you know because and it's not just eagle
with self I think it's this feeling that
you know I have to make this work or my
wife's gonna leave me or my husband's
gonna leave me or you know society's
gonna look at me as a failure or just
whatever stories we tell ourselves over
what what ultimately could help us rise
or destroy us but that's a that's a big
one for sure
for someone that's watching this that
wants a mentor they're open to one maybe
they don't know how to find one what
would you say how could someone find a
mentor yeah well I think a lot of it
comes down to trusting that's the people
that you are finding in this world with
so much information there's a lot of
people you could choose as a mentor and
obviously you know we kind of follow
packs of people that are maybe doing
similar things as us one of the key
things and this is what we focused on
more than anything with our program is
to not constantly be talking about
financial results but actually sharing
real stories of people of like where
they started and how far they've come
from a mental side of things so seeing
testimonials seeing very transparent you
know if somebody's willing to go on
Facebook live and talk about stuff
that's unscripted
that's you know that's real that isn't
always polished and perfect I think that
creates more trust so you know there's a
lot of options out there it's it can get
overwhelming to decide who to follow who
is your guru you know what is is that
the Tony Robinson right yes like I'm not
your guru yeah yeah I'm not sure guru
but to find you know focus on a couple
of people that that truly you know you
admire not for just their financial
results but also for how they show up in
the world every single day I think
that's that's a big part of that's an
important one there's plenty of people
out there that I've met and come across
that have the financial wealth but the
rest of their life is a disaster yeah
and I remember this one experience I met
this billionaire I went for lunch with
this person everybody looked up to this
person and I actually left that meeting
disappointed whereas I saw this person
that had all this financial abundance
but was alone in their life
physically in other body was not
optimized as well as it should have been
and it just saw a lack of happiness and
fulfillment there and I always I know
for myself I've always prioritized I try
to share that with my audience the
importance of life mastery and having a
balance in life that there's no good
having more financial wealth if you
don't have your health if you don't have
if you're not happy if you don't have a
great relationship so I you know not
losing sight of what's really what is
most important in life I think that's an
important thing yeah and we talked
briefly about this before about like
really knowing who you are and what your
values are too because I know for me
like I probably would have chosen a
different mentor 10 years ago than I
would now you know and I and I find them
going through phases as well you know
like I'm connecting with new people that
that have kids and that can relate on
that level you know I guess you end up
with different friends you end up with
different life priorities like business
and entrepreneurship and you know making
an impact have long them very very high
in fact I would always say like number
one on my values list and then I had
kids and when I first had kids I still
would have said that the
Entrepreneurship in my career and the
impact that I'm making and my legacy was
number one but it's starting to be
overtaken by family it changes over time
and knowing that that is perfectly
normal and that new people will come
into your life and you know finding
other people that show up as you said
every single day and take care of all
aspects is is important so yeah seek
seek your mentors but know that they'll
probably change over time yes
so someone finds mentors online through
Facebook or YouTube would they just
reach out to those people and then just
try to reach out and see if they have
mentorship available or I know for
myself I love going to events and
sometimes that leads to meeting people
and different mentorship opportunities
so what would be that step that someone
would take to try to bring that person
into their life yeah well like coming to
events like this is always great because
then you can get direct feedback from
people that have experienced mentorship
at whatever level it is
you know there's there's just so many so
many options out there it can be
frustrating for sure trying to figure it
all out but you know people that like I
can speak from my own experience like we
know exactly who we serve now it's it's
the solopreneur they're typically very
experienced at what they do 25 to 30
years experience as a consultant a coach
a speaker they are typically older you
know not old we won't call them old but
you know they're 50 to 65 type things so
they've been in business for a long time
and they value and prioritize different
things but they struggle with certain
things technology they struggle with you
know building and surrounding themselves
with a good team outsourcing they have a
challenge in managing their time
properly you know so we've found that
that is are dialed in neasha you know
and because we're very specific with the
way that we communicate that we attract
those people into our world because
there's there's a lot of stuff that she
can turn to out there and I know Stefan
was surprised when I said earlier he's
like I'm not sure how many people we
have that are kind of in that demo and
I'm like you'd be surprised like there's
a lot of people coming to me from the
LinkedIn marketing video we did together
that say hey I found you from the video
with Stefan
the handsome bald guy that's usually
what I got like I saw a lot of videos
like you know handsome bald guy but yes
so that's I think you know you're gonna
find your tribe by just surrounding or
finding other people that are similar to
you and seeing if that message really
resonates with you that that's where you
find your mentors right and find the
community yeah so you specialize in
helping people that have a message right
whether they're a coach or speaker yeah
an author consultant some of that has a
message that wants to share it they want
to bring in leads to their business you
mind sharing someone that is maybe
watching this that is maybe in that
position that they have a message they
want to communicate to share their story
they have value they want to offer
people but they're looking for ways to
bring in some of those leads I know you
specialize in LinkedIn you mind maybe
sharing how someone could use LinkedIn
or what strategies that
help someone like that yeah for sure so
I created a system called the solo
funnel that was named for two reasons
solo solo preneur meaning that it's
built for people that run their own
business they're typically independent
maybe they have one or two outsource
employees but it's them they're the show
and then of course solo referencing the
idea of like one thing at a time you
know don't get overwhelmed at trying to
build a webinar and write a book and
host live events and do masterminds you
know aspire to all those things and
aspire to package your knowledge and
build an online course and sell that and
create passive revenue and all these
things but if you have experience and
expertise in a certain area and you can
support people like help them transform
their business their life whatever then
the first place you should start is
probably a higher ticket or a higher
price point service right so what we
teach with the solo funnel is how to use
LinkedIn as the main lead source knowing
that it's a professional networking tool
it's a lot of times the one that most
you know older baby-boomer experience
people are comfortable and using they
don't want to be on Instagram they're a
little nervous about getting in front of
a camera and being on YouTube but
they're okay with LinkedIn because they
see that their audience is there it's
very easy to filter and search for those
people now it's the same kind of
practices that you teach and a lot of
other people about creating valuable
content building funnels that lead a
person down to a phone call connecting
face to face I come from a world that
was you know I have a marketing degree I
went straight into sales I learned how
to sell by shaking hands going to
networking events opening up that phone
book and cold calling it was about
relationships and if you know how to
leverage technology you can do the same
kind of thing but in a much more
leveraged way without losing the
personal connection without it being
about automation this and bought that
and stuff because
my audience doesn't relate to it that
well or at least they're tiptoeing into
it and the audience that they're selling
to doesn't relate to that either they
want to connect right so that's what we
teach and you guys can definitely check
it out I know Stefan's gonna link it up
we've got a training that we run people
through we've got a downloadable PDF
that kind of shows the how to break down
LinkedIn from a search perspective and
find that perfect audience and then how
to filter them through different types
of funnels starting simple with like an
appointment campaign to get people on
the phone and then ultimately how to
sell what it is you sell with the whole
goal of supporting those solopreneurs to
build a sustainable thriving business
where you can get to like 10k plus a
month and you know now you've replaced
your income right so maybe you had a job
for 25-30 years and you're like I need
to make a hundred grand a year that's
your goal it's not hard in today's world
it's really not you just need a few
principles to be able to apply so that's
that's what we do
cool yeah and the the roadmap that
Trevor's referencing if you go to WWF as
recom slash solo funnel heading over
there he'll give you access to the the
road map that he has and the training
that he has for that as well I'll link
to that for you guys as well so I guess
a lot of people you most mostly help
them to sell high ticket services right
or products that they might have and
then the solo funnel helps to bring
people in from something like LinkedIn
right you're funneling them from
LinkedIn qualified people right yep from
LinkedIn to set up an appointment or to
a webinar or a call or something like
that where as they go yeah and you think
I guess would they but would you
typically help people like get on the
phone to close people or help to bring
in help to do that or I guess do you
work with people to create that process
so that they can actually convert those
people to becoming their clients yeah
it's kind of the entire journey right
it's because if you could imagine if
you're new to LinkedIn or you're using
it as a prospecting tool think about how
you like to be marketed to right you
don't want somebody reaching out
connecting and saying hey I want to hop
on a call I want to sell you something
right there's there's a natural process
to that to build a relationship to build
or to build trust and it all comes back
to content but it doesn't need to be
complicated content either you know like
the thing that we recommend people do is
you identify the main pain points that
your audience has whatever it is right
list out the top five and then think
about it from a storytelling perspective
of like how does that show up in that
person's life right how does that pain
point illustrate in their life and then
how do you solve that problem and those
become articles and at its simplest if
you just publish content on LinkedIn it
becomes a natural way to be able to
reach out connect add value drive them
to an article that article of course can
have a call to action we actually like
to work with people to reframe the sales
call to be more like a breakthrough
session or you know a discovery session
or whatever it might be because then
it's about that person it's not about
you trying to sell it's about you saying
I want to learn how what I provide can
support you through the challenges that
you're going through and you have to
like walk people through that journey
because nobody wants to be sold to right
they want a natural transition towards
this is what's challenging and this
could be the person that can help me
solve that and if you can do that and
it's not hard it really isn't you know
and I love what you're saying too
because there's so much out there like
and I think people have the
misconception they have to do it all
well I've got to do Facebook Ads I've
got to do Instagram I've got to do
blogging an SEO I've got to do YouTube
I've got to do LinkedIn I've got to do
this net and that's often a recipe for
disaster because not unless you have a
team that can support doing all that
you're gonna overwhelm yourself and what
I know one thing you talked about is
really dialing down on one thing getting
really great at that your strengths and
and you can create it a great six-figure
seven-figure business just by leveraging
a process like what you just shared yeah
and to back it up even a little bit to
knowing what to sell what value to place
on it and not undervaluing what you
bring to the world is probably the very
first thing that a lot of times people
struggle with right so the idea of
saying yeah I offer one-on-one
consulting and it's $5,000 a month
and you get an hour a week of my time
and then we you know we help you with
processes and systems whatever it is you
sell sometimes people have a problem
with that they go I can't charge that
kind of money you know and it's a it's a
self worth conversation it's it's a
conversation of like what is justifiable
because you think about your job you got
paid maybe a salary eight nine ten
thousand dollars or less or whatever you
start to relate the job world to this
entrepreneurial world and they don't
match up they don't you know the value
that somebody can give you that you as
an expert in what you do can give
somebody with your ten fifteen
twenty-five thirty years experience
if you solved a problem for that person
in 15 minutes
this isn't about hourly rates this is
about what are you helping that person
overcome what challenges are you helping
them bypass how are you how is that bit
of advice or feedback or consulting or
coaching or whatever is gonna impact
that person's life and not always in
financial terms either maybe it's just
in avoiding a painful experience in your
personal life so knowing how to position
your offer and thinking that if you
believe that your service is worth 2000
is probably worth 4000 whatever it is
double it and just allow that to like
sink in because sometimes it takes that
I know it has for me I know it has for
me we used to think like oh we can't
charge that much I've never paid that
and then I went and joined a mastermind
myself that was almost a six-figure
investment in a year
I'd never spent that kind of money on
mentoring but it's made all the
difference and now we're seeing it as we
work with our own students to
I love it yeah so the last question is
what's the the final message that you
really want to communicate to people
that are watching this people that are
entrepreneurs they're just getting
started or they're more seasoned better
veterans have been around for a while
what was the what would be the last
message that you want to leave people
with yeah you know like tying into the
my message my message theme that we got
going here please don't be ashamed by
the story of how you've got to where you
are you don't have to give out this
persona of perfection all the time in
fact people don't believe it anymore
anyways they want to see your flaws they
want to see that you know you've had
success but you've also stumbled along
the way and you know I've I'm trying to
be the example in this and and I can
tell you that it's not easy like I talk
constantly about the idea of like done
is better than perfect but yet I stop
myself every once in a while where I'm
like I don't know if that article is
quite ready or you know maybe the video
I should probably go tanning I'm a
little white right now you know Canadian
but just get it out there right and then
adjust allow yourself to grow allow your
business to grow and just adapt as you
go cuz done truly is better than perfect
get your genius out into the world share
its allow the right people to come to
you and I think that's that's the best
piece of advice I can give right now
that's awesome man well listen man I
appreciate taking the time sharing your
story the people I think a lot of people
can relate connect with it and that this
will inspire and reach a lot of people
