hi I'm miles Beckler and in this video

we're gonna talk about your personal

brand now you might be thinking right

off the bat like personal brand I don't

have a personal brand yes you do

100% you do in this digital age if you

have a facebook account if you have a

youtube account if you have any account

on any social media network you have a

brand the question really is are you

conscious of this and are you building

it in a way that's gonna set you up for

future success or not it's a really

interesting question and I think a lot

of people they maybe think well I'm just

an employee you know I do work for this

place I'm a customer support

representative in a giant call center

like personal brand first and foremost

if you ever go to get a job again in

this day and age they're gonna be cyber

stalking you they're gonna look at your

Facebook they're gonna look at your

Twitter they're gonna look at what you

actually do on the weekends and if

there's pictures of you with like vodka

bottles and bongs good luck right

they're gonna be like no not our guy

that's your personal brand if on the

other hand you're applying for a job

you're a customer service rep they

google you and they find a wordpress

blog that talks about how to execute

above average customer support or the

benefits of being excellent with your

customers and they find this kind of

content with your name on it guess what

you're a shoe-in they look at you oh my

gosh this person's a thought leader they

not only perform I mean a resume by the

way isn't it's dead it's a dead document

right they want to know who you are and

what you're about if you're putting out

content and structuring it in a way that

proves that you're kind of above average

or you're a thought leader or you're

you're someone of interest in a specific

niche that will get recognized and that

will help you in ways you don't even

understand so the first thing I think

you should do right now is go to an

unlocked in browser it was a terrible

way of saying it open a new browser if

you normally use Chrome open Firefox or

ie or Safari or whatever it is go find

yourself on Facebook look at your

Facebook Timeline what pictures are

showing up what are you showing what are

you revealing to the world right now

and think of yourself as if you're in a

job situation what a future employer

would look at what they would think

about if you're already an independent

contractor or you're building an

internet business

think of what a $10,000 client would

think about what they see when they look

at your facebook fanpage now I've got my

settings all kinds of tightened up right

you can't post a picture to my facebook

page my timeline whatever the hell it is

you can't tag me in things without me

approving it I've got family members and

people like posting these weird old

pictures and saying these weird things

on my timeline and I'm like I can't be

having this so I tightened down my

security to where everything runs

through me and I'm in full control if

you're interested I'm the only miles

right you will notice oh hopefully like

I've structured all the content I'm

showing they're very very specifically

to help me kind of angle myself and to

make sure that if and when someone finds

me there that I'm appearing the way I

feel that I should be appearing it's

kind of an interesting way of putting it

should be appearing on I'm an

entrepreneur but like I'm getting more

into speaking and and I'm kind of

working slowly on my first book and so

I'm getting more out from behind the

scenes as a kind of a practitioner and

I'm getting a little bit into the

thought leader space so I know people

check up on me like if you found this if

you haven't already done it I'm kind of

surprised you've watched a few of my

youtube videos you might be like who is

this Myles bechler guy right probably

googled me that's the second thing I

want you to do go google your name if

you've got a really common name that's

actually kind of potentially maybe a

good thing because it's not gonna be

full of dumb stuff you said on Twitter

right it's gonna be full of other people

but really you have the ability to

control that first page of Google

especially if you have kind of a less

common name I'm very very conscious of

what shows up when you google Myles

bechler without quotes when you're not

logged in to a browser where we're

friends are we've contacted or you've

commented on my YouTube videos I'm

consciously building content on Twitter

and on these places under my name in a

way that I stuff

first page of Google with what I want

Google to have about me and then I'm

very conscious of what I'm putting on

these different social networks you need

to be as well do the same thing for any

other social networks you're part of if

you're on Twitter go check your cell go

look at what you're saying on Twitter be

conscious of that is really important

and then the next level so that's kind

of like looking at what is right like

what's my digital shadow as of right now

because that is your brand whether you

get it or not and whether you're

crafting that or not the next step is to

begin to craft it right this video

you're watching right now every video on

this channel I'm putting out free

content I'm putting out the same content

that I've seen in stupidly priced

courses I've seen courses literally for

$2,000 plus that are giving less value

and less information that I'm giving

here I'm consciously crafting these

messages to position myself as someone

who gets this game right I've been

behind the scenes helping companies and

helping myself build literally millions

of dollars in revenue over the last 10

years but but who's miles Beckler nobody

knows cuz I've been behind the scenes as

a practitioner now I'm taking my brand

out from behind the scenes and I'm

getting into thought-leader

mode I've been invited to speak at

events that have other entrepreneurs now

I'm looking at making my book happen

soon I'm thinking what are those long

term things as I'm less and less

required in my business what do I want

to do with my time I want to help I want

to help other people unlock themselves

from corporations because you're either

gonna do it consciously yourself or it's

gonna happen to you you're really gonna

get laid off at some point for somebody

who's cheaper or for a robot or you're

going to create income in another way

and walk away on your own terms I'm all

about helping people who are ready to

take steps and do that on their own

terms you might be a little bit in that

kind of a position right now if you're

watching this video but I'm really

crafting these messages consciously I

think a lot about what's his next video

gonna be I don't really write notes I

just kind of like what's the core idea I

want to get that really kind of like

helps people and puts out my beliefs and

my thoughts and my philosophies on life

and business etc and then I just wrap

and I just do what I do so really think

about your search

right try to see where you're going

three to five years if you're already an

entrepreneur you may be and like behind

a brand right like let's say you have

like best apple tree farm calm and you

teach people how to grow apples and and

super in really cold climates or

something of random niche idea but like

let's say you have a brand that's about

a niche and it's all based on a niche

that's great but at some point you may

grow in that industry to go to the

national Apple conference as a keynote

speaker because what you've done in the

Apple industry has revolutionized things

if that's not for you that's fine it's

just an example but really think about

that like what kind of a presence are

you going to need online to reinforce

that you're the right kind of a person

for that event because those event

planners they're putting it together now

if you work at a job right now first of

all you're in the danger zone like jobs

are disappearing at this point in age I

covered it that's what got me so

passionate my dad got laid off two years

before retirement

my aunt was in a stock option situation

with a company they were feeding the

kool-aid these stocks are gonna in

stocks are gonna pop she was poised to

make millions of dollars according to

CEO and company went bankrupt and she

was left with stocks that are worth

nothing and that was a year and a half

two years before her retirement so if

you haven't seen the writing on the wall

there yet it's there so what can you do

about it you need to position yourself

specifically in your niche or your

industry or your department as one of

the smartest people in your department

right so if you're in marketing you need

to be writing about marketing for

corporations whether it's

business-to-business marketing you need

be publishing that to your blog if you

don't want to manage a blog go to medium

comm publish it on medium.com like a

third-party site if you are interested

in kind of starting the blogging process

I highly recommend a free wordpress.com

account you can roll it over to a self

hosted site at some point if you want

it's free all you got to do is a couple

of clicks they're gonna try to upsell

you stuff you don't need the upsells

don't buy anything just get it started

and get your thoughts out what's gonna

happen if it's in your name that's gonna

start to show up on Google if you go

need to have that in your hands and if

it's on Facebook right now you need to

get your own blog up there whether it's

your name WordPress com which is free or

your name com which costs like 50 70

dollars a year to put together on a

WordPress site you need to take control

of that then you need to start to put

out content about your niche doesn't

matter what you're doing if you're in

the legal practice right now you let's

say you're your prime candidates or our

duis right you help you're the best DUI

defense attorney in your area then you

start to put out content that teaches a

people how to get out of DUIs and three

things to do if you're stopped by the

cops and you've had a drink and those

kind that kind of content to help your

target market but you can also put out

content that will help other DUI lawyers

right you can put up the kind of content

that your peers are looking for and you

can help them get their clients off

because maybe at some point you're gonna

sell a course on how to get every client

you have off on a DUI every time type

thing so you've got to really be

thinking about your long-term picture

we're all running marathons and this is

life we have many of us are sprinting

towards the next paycheck or sprinting

towards the next really really short

goal so this video is all about since

it's about your personal brand

it's about zooming out and like where

are you going if you're in a job and you

want to transition into consultant it's

like the fastest way to get out from

underneath the corporation you can get

three or four clients you can make to

three times what you're already making

but you have to be and appear as a

thought leader in what you do to get

there and this is exactly how you do it

so go comb through your social media

accounts go look at your LinkedIn look

at everything you have and make sure

it's groomed in a way that is it's

honorable to you right make sure you

look good and then start creating

content figure out the way that works

for you to create content I did a video

earlier that was about what's your

unique advantage and go watch that video

put out content but start putting out

content with those videos podcasts

written blogs etc and if

recommend the book crush it by Gary

Vaynerchuk fantastic book and he really

kind of gets into the nuts and bolts of

this I'm gonna cover it in future videos

but if you're commuting to work everyday

grab the audio book listen to it on your

commute build the brain because the

brain is what keeps this going it's

where the money really comes from

example but that's what it came out if

they find that you that may be the nail

in the coffin for you

so groom what you have and start

creating more content to really position

yourself as an expert in what you do you
