2019 & Your Mental Health

- Hey what's up Team Flynn, Pat here.
This is take 31
and you know what, I'm just gonna, I'm just gonna,
I'm just gonna go.
I'm not gonna edit this.
And so I just wanted to share something
really important with you.
This is why I'm trying to take 31 takes
because I need to get it right.
But I just need to share the message.
And the message isn't just a hey guys,
I hope you guys have an amazing 2019.
It's not just hey, thank you for supporting me
and being a subscriber.
But it's a pretty serious topic actually
and it's something that, serious topics on my blog,
on the podcast, here on the YouTube channel,
I tend to stay away from.
And by serious I mean things like politics
and religion, I mean those things you get elsewhere
and sometimes you don't even ask for that kinda stuff
and you see it pop up.
But there's a serious issue out there that I wanted
to discuss a little bit because in this letter,
I was reminded about how important sometimes
we don't even realize we can be in the lives of others.
And I'm not gonna share any names.
I'm not gonna read this letter to you
but essentially in this letter, this person was telling me
how they were having a very, very, very tough time,
the roughest time of their life,
and they were contemplating suicide.
And mental issues and mental health
is something that has come up in the news quite a bit lately
with a lot of the recent events that have happened
around the world, with a lot of recent passing
of a number of people who have been dealing
with mental health issues.
And I just wanted to talk about this today
and surface this issue for a number of reasons.
Number one, related to this letter,
I cried when I read this letter because I didn't even know
who this person was and yet I was still able
to have an impact on extending their life.
And I don't say this to sort of brag about that.
That not at all.
I say this because we all have the ability
to help others and support others
in the rough times that they might be having in their life.
And this is why it's important to show up
when you're a business owner and you're a content creator,
to show up, because people need you in ways
that you don't even know and cannot
fathom or understand sometimes.
People need encouragement, they need support,
they need to know there are other people like them.
And I want you to know that I've dealt with my fair share,
especially when I was younger, of mental health issues.
I have been thankful to have and receive a lot of support
related to those things, especially from friends
and family members.
And the most important part of this message
is just to keep going.
I know a lot of you are creating content
and it can seem like a struggle sometimes
and you look at the numbers and maybe they're not as high
as you want them to be.
But every single number on your email list,
on your subscriber count, your follower count,
every single like that you get,
even if it's one like, that's one human being
whose life you may have an impact on.
And there are people out there in this world
and as connected as we are online, especially,
that need you, they need you.
And I want you to know also that if you are struggling
with anything and you need a friend or somebody
to speak to or support you, just know that I'm here
for you as well.
And I'm just saying that out loud.
If you need to talk, if you're having some thoughts
that you might not wanna keep going,
like you let me know and I'm here to support you.
The other members of Team Flynn are here to support you
and the community is here to support you.
And I just want you to know going into 2019
that as bad as things may seem at times,
you always know you have people who are there,
who love you, who support you.
And even though you might be watching this right now
and perhaps we've never even met before,
just know that there's at least this group
and likely many other people just like me
who are there wanting to support you and care for you,
who will love you, who will speak to you.
If you need a shoulder to cry on, I'm here for you.
If you need to talk something out, let me know.
I care, I care, and there are people who care.
And I know it might not seem like that sometimes,
but we're here and we're here for you.
So thank you so much for watching this
and thank you to everybody who has supported me
and I want you to know I'm here to support you too.
I love you Team Flynn, you're amazing.
Here's to an amazingly healthy, happy, and honest 2019.
Here we go, Team Flynn for the win.
