How To Make Money With Pinterest Affiliate Marketing - Beyond Just Posting Affiliate Links!

hey miles here miles Becker calm in this
video you're gonna learn how to make
money with Pinterest affiliate marketing
now I am super bullish on Pinterest
right now and very few people and
marketers are talking about Pinterest as
far as a traffic method for brand
building etc so what we're gonna dive
into in this video so first and foremost
I want to know do you actively use
Pinterest this is a little survey answer
in the comments below yes if you
actively do use Pinterest you're in
there once a week or a couple times a
month or no if you still don't know
exactly what Pinterest does and what
role it serves we're gonna start this
video by talking a little bit about
Pinterest so you can understand kind of
what role that a pin that service plays
and then we to get real specific into
how to actually do affiliate marketing
with Pinterest because that's the main
goal here and I think affiliate
marketing is a great business model so
Pinterest the first thing you need to
understand is that it's kind of a
mash-up of a search engine and also a
social bookmarking website it is the
largest image based search engine in the
world which means you're able to publish
your pins and you can do SEO which is
search engine optimization so this means
you can add detailed descriptions titles
and hashtags to your actual Pinterest
pins so when a user searches for a
relevant idea you've added lots of
relevant text and hashtags around your
pin so Pinterest knows that your pin
image is actually relevant to that which
they searched so this is how Pinterest
works really well as a discovery
platform you're able to get your content
discovered by people who are searching
for interesting things then there's the
social bookmarking side of Pinterest
and that means that when a user finds a
pin they find interesting they're able
to repin it to one of their boards so
let's say I think one of the are
actually a good example of how a lot of
people use Pinterest they might have a
board that is like home remodeling or
landscape remodeling board and when
they're looking around on Pinterest for
landscape design ideas and they see an
image of a paver stone walkway out the
back door to a barbecue grill
area in the backyard they might think
wow someday that's exactly what I'm
gonna make in my backyard
let me repin that to my landscape design
board so it's there waiting for me when
I'm ready right right now we're just
exiting winter people are dreaming about
barbecues but not many people are
building barbecue areas yet but in a
couple of months it's game on for that
season so this is how Pinterest is used
is really we search for ideas we search
for inspiration we search for things and
then we pin the ideas we like best to
our boards like social bookmarking right
so it's search first then it's social
bookmarking and then when the timing is
right we go back to our board because
it's like okay this is the weekend we're
gonna jump in on our DIY landscaping
project let's go look at that Pinterest
board Friday night before prepping for
the weekends work and really lay out
your game plan from there so now that
you understand how Pinterest works in a
lot of day-to-day kind of uses you
really can start to understand how to
leverage Pinterest for affiliate
marketing and before we get into this
super specifics I want to remind you
that affiliate marketing is not simply
spamming your links I have a process
that I've taught in my deep-dive
affiliate marketing video the URL for
that video actually the the card is
gonna pop up above my head there click
it to go watch the full video and it's
really the tto process or the tto
approach to affiliate marketing its
traffic then it's trust and then it's an
offer and so many people think that
affiliate marketing is just as simple as
getting your links out there and
eventually somebody might find it click
and buy and you'll make money but unless
we're building trust that's the real key
ingredient that separates the rookie
affiliate marketers and those like us
who are doing super affiliates who are
doing hundreds of thousands of dollars
per year in affiliate marketing and a
quick note for you beyond the the
numbers in the fact that we make you
know hundreds of thousands of dollars a
year in affiliate marketing I looked at
our analytics on Pinterest we actually
had over a million people visit our
website from Pinterest and we've had
over two million unique visits from
Pinterest so we are
absolutely actively using Pinterest as
one of our most aggressive social kind
of traffic sources and this is how we're
using it okay
so with all that foundation how do you
actually do the affiliate marketing
stuff on the Pinterest right there's
three main ways that this works out
number one is you can actually direct
link a Pinterest pin to an actual
product about a year and a half ago
Pinterest decided to allow Amazon
affiliate links on their pins so you can
make a pin that actually direct links
someone to let's say a barbecue tool set
like spatula and a BBQ cleaner type
thing right the the outdoor kitchen
utensils set you could create a pin that
said best barbecue utensils and then the
pin would link directly through your
affiliate link to the Amazon page where
they could purchase them now in the tto
strategy you've got the traffic idea
right because that's where Pinterest is
that's what it is it's a traffic source
and you've got the offer right but
there's no trust building in the middle
so although this is technically a
possibility and it is technically a way
that you could do affiliate marketing on
Pinterest the odds in likelihood of
individuals actually converting taking
your recommendation clicking through
your pin repin in your pin and actually
buying based on your pin are extremely
low because there's no trust involved
there's no real reason there's no
compelling reason for them to a take
action now and to be to even believe you
that that is the best they might just
think that you're stuffing links in
front of them trying to sell them
something and no one likes being sold to
so that's the first process don't
recommend that one if you couldn't tell
by the way I've kind of approached that
number two is you write presale content
this might be in the form of the top 10
barbecue utensils for backyard grillers
and you write a great content heavy post
that talks about all of the different
tools that a backyard barbecue grillers
gonna need Come barbecue season you
detail your number one favorite your
number two favorite and you do a top 10
list and you detail which one is the
best value which one is the best
stainless steel I don't know what those
specific things are that's your job as
the content creator so what
you do is you create a great resource a
piece of content that lives as a perfect
resource for someone who's thinking
about maybe buying a Father's Day
present they want to get him some
barbecue do it and they don't know which
one is best so they're on Pinterest
looking for gifts for dad and all the
sudden they see this barbecue tool set
and it says top 10 barbecue tool sets or
barbecue utensil sets they pin that so
when it's actually time for dad's
birthday or dad's dad's day itself they
pin that because the time is not right
to order might they just put it on their
board they reap IND it then when it's
the next week and they're ready to buy
for dad's birthday that's coming up or
for Father's Day or whatever it is they
go back to their board their dad's gift
board they look at it they click and now
it opens up your post on your website
and this is the most powerful way to
leverage Pinterest every pin is actually
a door to a piece of content on your
site this is truly the best strategy to
leverage for Pinterest marketing
directly because you get a backlink from
it it has SEO value that can come and
actually help you rank higher on Google
by building out these types of backlinks
but what it does is it gives you the
opportunity to build the trust with the
user and that's the middle T and the TT
o affiliate marketing strategy that is
absolutely so imperative and how do you
build trust well you show them that you
actually reviewed you actually bought
you used you tried you put them all
through the ringer you banged on them
you got them hot and you really truly
proved which barbecue tool utensil set
is the absolute best and when they read
your post like wow I I really am gonna
get him that one that really is the one
there's your affiliate link now they're
ready they trust you at this point they
click through the affiliate link and
then they go on to checkout they order
it dad has a great Father's Day
everyone's happy you win and they win do
you notice the difference right it's not
just trying to spam Pinterest with pins
that link to the actual kind of item on
the affiliate network it's adding value
to the user who's on Pinterest for a
specific reason they're trying to find a
birthday gift they're trying to lay out
some of they're trying to do something
and you're actually giving them some
unique value through your input in the
content
that you create that was the number two
approach and this is my most highly
recommended approach for starting out
for affiliate marketers it's a great way
to get going you could drive a lot of
traffic we drive nearly about 750,000
visits per year to our website from
Pinterest right now so that is a huge
amount traffic uppers a 20,000 visits
per month to our site so the traffic
potential is there there were building
trust on all those different posts and
then the third idea right which is the
the best way I think ultimately to kind
of long term grow an affiliate marketing
business on Pinterest is building a
brand right so what is the difference
between having that one post that ranks
that answers that one question that
helps them get that one product and
having a brand that someone trusts when
you have a brand that people trust they
start to seek you out they know that
you're a publisher they know that they
can trust you they know that you're an
educator they know that you're someone
who is an expert in the world of
whatever it is it could be knitting it
could be crocheting it could be
landscaping design it could be
barbecuing whatever that is that you're
an absolute expert in and then they
start to look for your pins then they
start to go look at your boards because
all boards are by default public which
means I could go theoretically look at
your boards but you can set them to
private this is what the best content
marketers are absolutely doing my wife
is doing a fantastic job with this right
now she gets about 2.5 million
impressions on Pinterest every single
month right now which means all of the
pins that she's published in our team we
have our team helping out Publishing the
pins all of those pins they show up
either in search results in feeds or
people are visiting her actual Pinterest
boards looking for new ideas yes we have
those individual pins like I talked
about in step two that recommends
certain products and/or do kind of
detailed reviews on certain products we
have pins that link people just to our
text heavy content that's just flat-out
helpful but then the brand building
happens from that point on one of the
ways we build brand is we have pop-ups
on top of our content that's on our
website on our WordPress website when
this
shows up we offer a free we offer a free
mp3 in exchange for their email address
so they can get on our email list at
that point we're able to build more
trust to build a relationship to give
more value to that user before ever
asking them to take any specific action
this is the results in advanced approach
and this is a really powerful way to
grow a brand to make sure that your
brand is actually helping people get the
results that they want first and then
when you recommend the helpful tools the
helpful services the software whatever
it is that recommendation is gonna be so
much better received because of the fact
that you took the time to give them lots
of value first you help them get results
first getting what I'm saying here so
this is really the biggest idea I think
when it comes to Pinterest and this is
the long-term game of building a brand
on Pinterest the cool part is you can
essentially move forward with that
second approach which is creating lots
of great review based content lots of
great content and then making sure
you're pinning your content to Pinterest
so you're writing out lots of long-form
excellent helpful blog posts on your
WordPress blog then you're pinning pins
which are doorways back to your post and
these could be the review type things
they could be one-off reviews you can
review the best this that or the other
the top ten this that or the other it
could be a wide variety of content each
one will stand alone and potentially
work when you put out optimized pins
right cuz someone looking for the best
barbecue utensils will potentially find
pins that are all about the best
barbecue utensils do you have a pin that
shows up for that but here's the thing
they're not ready to buy yet they're
trying to discover the ideas so that's
where they want to go to the blog post
and they find your helpful blog post now
this is the moment where do they find
more helpful blog posts do they find all
of your other content and think wow this
person is really I need to follow this
individual on Pinterest because they are
clearly an expert in all things backyard
grilling and I love grilling in the
backyard so I'm going to follow this
individual and really they get to that
point that feeling of wanting to follow
you of wanting to know more than just
what they search for in that one moment
when you have the power of brand
working for you and really you build
that power of brand by doing hundreds
upon hundreds of these types of review
sites you review all of the products in
your niche and you really truly become a
trusted advisor in that space so you can
kind of work aggressively on that that's
step number two which is review post on
Pinterest but you do the review post on
your blog
pinning pins on Pinterest for that do
that over and over hundreds upon
hundreds of times over the next coming
few years and you become the default
expert in that world because you really
truly are the foremost publisher and
that's what the experts do they publish
their opinions they publish more helpful
content than everyone else and that's
who ultimately wins long term in this
game that's how you keep yourself from
having one great pin one great idea take
off you make a bunch of money as an
affiliate but then all of a sudden whoo
somebody mimics what you do they copy
what you do you fall out of favor with
the search engine something changes and
that one thing you were reliant on falls
apart but when you have hundreds and
hundreds or even thousands of different
posts and thousands if not tens of
thousands of pins there are all doorways
back to those posts that's when you can
build a truly stable affiliate marketing
business on Pinterest I always recommend
that you own the racecourse meaning you
always have your own content on your own
platform that you own which is why I
recommend a self hosted WordPress
website because you own that no one can
turn you off in that situation Pinterest
unfortunately does have in their Terms
of Service that they could turn you off
at any moment that they want so you need
to have that core review content to be
something that you ultimately own this
is a very broad overview I understand
that if you want some more tactical
ideas about how to grow your Pinterest
and how to grow an audience on Pinterest
I do have a training that's about a year
and a half old on how to kind of grow
your Pinterest platform I'll link to
that above it'll also be linked into the
description below here and then
ultimately there is one course that I
really really dig I've enjoyed it I've
gone through it it's helped us massively
ramp up our Pinterest marketing efforts
you can find it at miles Beckler com
forward-slash Pinterest - course it's
the best course it is a paid course I am
an affiliate for that course but the
only reason I'm recommending it is
because I bought it with my own money
I've integrated what they taught and we
are saying that's why we're seeing 2.5
million impressions per month right now
and literally like three quarters of a
million visits a year right now to our
site through Pinterest because we've
bought the course we implemented what
they taught and is working and it's
absolutely crushing it so I thank you
very much all the links are down in the
description if you have any questions
for me about Pinterest get at me in the
comments give me a thumbs up like it I
appreciate you and I look forward to
connecting with you on the next video
till we meet again
be well
