- Hey, what's up Team Flynn, Pat Flynn here.
I don't know which camera to look at right now
the iPhone X right now,
the Canon Rebel SL2,
and the Sony RX-100 Mark V.
Why am I looking at all these cameras?
Because I don't know which one I like best
and I need your help because I've got a small addiction.
Now my addiction is, like many of you guys out there
who are starting to do a lot of video,
you get kinda addicted to all of the equipment out there
that can hopefully make your YouTube videos,
or videos in general, look much better.
Now there's a lot of options out there when it comes to
which cameras you can potentially use
to shoot videos for your YouTube channel,
or maybe some online courses,
or other things that you might have to shoot video for.
Now if you're just starting out,
I would recommend what Sean Cannell recommended
in a previous video here on the channel.
- Definitely the best camera to have
is the camera you probably already do have.
And that's probably your smartphone.
- But then once you get going,
it might be worth investing in something like a Sony RX-100,
which actually Sean recommended to me in a YouTube video
that I watched from his a long time ago,
before I started to get serious here on YouTube.
But then you have things like the DSLRs out there,
and the one that you're looking at right now is a Canon SL2,
and what I like about it is it has auto-focus,
it's a little bit heavier and bulkier,
so it's not like the Sony RX-100 that's easy
to carry around, I used it for vlogging.
This one doesn't quite fit
in your pocket like the other one does,
but I feel like there's a lot more options
when it comes to some of the more professional aspects
of filmography or film, filming,
record-ography, cinematography,
you know, more fancier things related to video.
Now honestly, I'm not a huge video geek
in such a manner that I know all the technical jargon,
ISO and aperture, I mean I kinda know what that is,
I've been learning about it, especially
using the DSLRs and things like that.
But I'm not a, like I don't know a lot of stuff.
All I know is what I see
and I love to keep things as simple as possible.
So, there are various reasons to use all
these different kinds of cameras,
but I would definitely recommend that
if you are gonna be serious about videos,
just pick one and stick with it,
and the use it and have it be your bread and butter.
So I am gonna run through a few side by side by side tests
kind of utilizing the auto-focus
so we can see all three views simultaneously.
And that way we can get a sense
for what works best in different situations.
Again, if you're just starting out
I wouldn't recommend going and upgrading
to these kinds of cameras right away,
but if it is something that you're gonna get serious with,
then these are the kinds of cameras
that you might wanna get involved with
because they're not so expensive
but they also give you a lot of capabilities
for some of the higher level things you might do,
once you get serious with YouTube and video.
Alright, so you're probably seeing three of me right now,
which is probably kinda weird,
but this is great because we can compare
and you can probably already see differences
between each of these cameras in terms of
how they look, and the detail.
I'm using default situations and lenses
on each of these things.
The SL2 is the only one with a detachable lens.
So, what I'm gonna do now is I'm gonna come in forward
and we'll see what happens, so...
That's really creepy, it's like I'm coming in
for a kiss or something.
That's how awkward it was for me in high school.
Hey guys, hey.
What's up?
Coming in back.
Moving forward a little bit quicker.
See lighting starting to change, especially on the iPhone.
How 'bout you?
You? You?
Okay. Very interesting.
Alright, next up I'm gonna get really close
with an item to show you kinda the details
and maybe it'll have an effect
on the camera and how it looks.
So let me go grab that item really quick.
Alright, so this is right here
is a gift from Pencils of Promise,
which is an organization that I'm an advisor for
that helps build schools around the world.
I want to Ghana, my community and I,
we built two schools together there.
I got to see the schools in person,
I got to help with construction of two other schools,
and it was one of the most amazing experiences,
so big shout out to Pencils of Promise.
But I'm gonna zoom in on each of these cameras
and you'll see kind of how quick the auto-focus
comes into play and the details
and some of the grains and such here on the pencil.
(energetic music)
Alright, and that's the experiment,
I'm actually really curious to see
what the results are gonna be like,
and I'd love to know what you think in the comments.
Do you think the iPhone X is better,
or the Canon Rebel SL2,
or perhaps the Sony RX-100?
Now, I will say that audio-wise,
I'm not using any of this stuff. I'm using a little--
Oh.
No!
Alright, I think that means, I'm using a boom mic
and for whatever reason that made the camera fall,
but hey, this is real life,
and so hey guys, thank you so much for watching this video.
Please comment with which one you feel
is maybe the most clean or maybe just leave your opinion.
You guys know a lot better than I do about this stuff,
and I need some help, too.
I wanna create amazing YouTube videos for you in the future.
We've got a lot of great stuff coming,
but I wanna do it in the best way possible.
You know, I film in the studio with backpack
and the hoverboard behind me,
but I also film here in the home office,
and I haven't done it much lately
because I'm just not really sure how to go about doing it,
so you can all let me know in the comments section below,
whether you like the iPhone X,
the Canon Rebel SL2, or the Sony RX-100 mark V,
and I'll collect your feedback
and just take the appropriate action from there.
So hey, thank you so much, I appreciate it.
