How To Find A Great Apartment Or Condo In Chiang Mai Thailand For One Month - Digital Nomad Hack

hey miles Becker here coming from chiang
mai thailand and in this video we're
gonna talk about how to find a great
apartment for one month in chiang mai
now if you've been looking online for an
apartment if you've been looking on
Airbnb or any of the other websites that
talk about like chiang mai buddy or
anything and you're having difficulties
finding one month furnished apartments
in chiang mai know that you're not alone
and yes one month apartments do exist
out here now most of the companies
you're gonna find the booking companies
online they're gonna be wanting like six
month rentals to one year rentals a
great example of this is perfect homes
Chiang Mai
if you just Google perfect homes Chiang
Mai I believe it's perfect homes Co th
you'll find a great listing service for
furnished and serviced apartments here
in Chiang Mai the challenges that
they're generally gonna want at least
three months more like six months to one
year so what do you do if you have a one
month visa or you're looking to come in
on a one-month visa maybe stay in extend
your visa for one more month
well Airbnb is absolutely an option but
the number of options on Airbnb is very
very limited compared to what's
available here there is an absolute
building boom going on here in Chiang
Mai and there are condo buildings going
up all over the place so having just got
here a couple days ago and just lock
down a great apartment I figured I'd
share exactly how we did that with you
so if you're looking you can kind of
take the easy path to getting a great
apartment on a monthly basis so first
and foremost I showed up and got a hotel
for three nights I would just went to
hotels calm
I found something in my price range you
can find amazing deals in this town on
hotels calm for literally twenty five to
thirty five dollars if you're more of
the backpacker style you could go to a
hostel if you wanted you can get a
private room in a hostel for as little
as like 250 to 300 baht per night which
is literally under ten dollars u.s. I
just like a little bit more of the
amenities if you will so that's why I
went with the hotels calm option so then
once I got here immediately once I
checked in the first thing I did was set
out on foot now I stayed in the Niemen
area which is based around Nieman mall
kind of near the maya mall area
and this is where the condo boom is
going on so my wife and I we set our own
foot and we just started walking around
town and we walked to a bunch of the
different kind of new condo buildings
they all have offices most of them have
security guards at the gates they'll
have a closed gate and you just tell the
security guard that you're here to go to
the rental office they'll point you in
the right direction you walk in and you
say hey do you have any units available
for one month and 99% of the time
they'll say yes we do and they'll have a
little price sheet they'll show you the
price sheet they'll ask you which ones
you want to see and you say I want to
see number 605 or whatever it is and
they'll take you up to floor six and
they'll show you around
you can ask if it's got a pool you can
ask if it's got a gym there if that's
kind of the amenity that you're looking
for and most of them do have pools and
gyms so in the course of an afternoon we
went and took a look at probably about
seven different buildings we looked at
and I'm gonna rattle off some names so
you can jot them down if you want to
search it we looked at the mirror we
looked at namana
we looked at the Niemen we looked at the
cirrie we looked at the Pune apartments
and the unique service condos as well
and literally all of these were within
walking distance of the hotel we're at
and we stayed at the prestige hotel
which is maybe two blocks away from the
Niemen area so it was maybe two blocks
extra the Easton Hotel would actually be
a little bit closer I'm not sure the
price on that is as I didn't stay there
but then once you find you just start
walking around literally it's a pound
the pavement game and you'll see that on
their price lists they say how many
square meters
they also say how much it is per month
you can ask them about internet
generally speaking Internet is not
included you are able to get a 30 day
internet very easily it's somewhere
around seven or eight hundred baht for
30 days of Internet you're also gonna
have to pay for electricity
most of them use what's called like the
government rate which I believe is seven
baht per unit and that's because if
you're a heavy air-conditioner user it's
gonna increase the price dramatically
for the smaller and these are some of
the nicer buildings first and foremost
and for the smaller kind of studio style
apartments you can find them in the
15,000 10,000 to 18,000 baht range per
month for the larger
one in two-bedroom auctions you're
looking more in the twenty to thirty
thousand baht per month price range
which all all said and done is somewhere
between four and five hundred dollars up
to about seven or eight hundred dollars
u.s. the US dollar is strong right now
so if you're in Canada or if you've got
like an Aussie dollar just do the kind
of basic calculations but it's right
around the the twenty to thirty thousand
dollar bought for the higher end and on
the lower end you can get ten to fifteen
thousand and again you definitely can
kind of do the hostel style if you want
you can get a hostel dormitory style
room for like a hundred bottom night you
can get an actual room in any of these
hostels kind of a private room for like
250 to 300 baht per night I personally
like having the kitchenette I like
having a little bit of a kitchen and a
little bit of a private space I do like
to kind of I am kind of a private person
so I like to cook for myself and I like
to have this quiet relaxing area which
is why I have chosen these but if you've
been looking online trying to find a
place in Chiang Mai for a month and you
haven't been successful in finding
anything that looks great know that in
the local economy they don't really need
to advertise they don't need a third
party booking site because they're
constantly booked out there building
condos as fast as they can and they're
filling them and filling them as fast as
they're building them so you just need
to get here show up get a few nights in
a hotel room and then go kind of calm
the pavement a little bit look for some
of the different buildings and literally
several of them I was just looking at up
and saying wow that looks like a nice
new beautiful building and we just found
the entrance by walking around and
walked in and asked them if they had any
units available and you'll be able to
choose the one that's right for you
but it's really actually quite easy
everything's very close to this Neiman
Road so get a hotel new Neiman put lace
up your shoes get your walking shoes on
for the day and prepare to put in a
couple of miles walking around and I
guarantee you you'll find a great
apartment that will serve you all the
restaurants and coffee shops and even
some of the co-working spaces are right
here on Nieman so it's a great
neighborhood for you to plug into
alright that's it I'm miles better I'm
gonna go enjoy my evening and get some
brilliant Thai food here in Chiang Mai
