Single Mom Makes $500,000 PER MONTH On Amazon FBA 💰 Amazon FBA Success Stories

hey everyone this is stefan from
projectlifemastery.com and I'm here at
cellar con in Orlando and I ran into
Anji Chacon who many of you guys might
recognize from a video that we did last
year that's up on the YouTube channel
and podcast for ang shared her
inspirational story about how you know
you as a single mom built your online
business on Amazon you went through ASM
you built it to five hundred thousand
dollars a month and we thought we'd do
another video just as a follow-up to
hear more about your j
ourney and story
and just how you're living your life
today so thanks for taking the time yeah
thanks for having me it's yeah it's been
busy lots going on it's very exciting I
don't know if you know I've been
building also my own manufacturing
company so that was sort of a different
twist I took for most like Amazon
sellers so that's been kind of an
adventure I have learned some really
important things on the Amazon business
and I realize that kind of you hit
different levels there's different
levels people hit and then there's
different bury and different barriers at
different levels so it's interesting
because I definitely hit a certain level
that I hadn't hit before and it's like
how do you overcome and how do you get
to that next level from there so that's
been an interesting experience and I
love it cuz I come to these events and
some people wonder if I'd get anything
any events at the level where I'm at but
I do I get so much and I connect up with
certain people and sometimes it just
takes a couple little like gems from
somebody dough really like exactly yeah
and even sometimes you hear something
you might have heard it a million times
but it just come you get you receive it
in a different way and you actually do
something with it and it can change
everything for you yeah so yeah so
before I'd love to talk about that and
and the journey that you've had since we
last did the interview and everything
but I'm gonna link to the video that we
originally did and I encourage you guys
to go back and watch that that shares a
little bit more about Energy's story and
whatnot but for those that aren't gonna
go back and watch that video do you mind
just real quick your story it's really
inspirational especially for a lot of
the moms out there of what
been able to do - Sharon you know when
you know when you started selling on
Amazon how you got into it and just kind
of a journey to where you are today
yeah right okay um so I started three
and a half years ago I was kind of
starting my life over I just gone
through a divorce for I was married for
26 years so it was a very big change in
my life I was being a single mom for
kids finding actually starting over
starting over in a lot of different
aspects of my life so it was a bit of a
challenge I was working full-time and I
saw the Amazon opportunity so I thought
I'll try it I had some friends that were
doing the course and it looks really
good it looked like they were able to
succeed and so I thought I'm gonna try
this I want to do e-commerce I needed
something that was flexible something
that had a bit of an opportunity I
didn't want the nine-to-five thing
anymore and so I just and I had no
Amazon experience I'd never I didn't
repurchased anything on Amazon so it's
like really learning everything from
scratch ecommerce you know the whole
private label product game I just I love
the course because it really is very
good gradient of taking it with the
viewpoint of somebody who knows nothing
so I loved it and it gave a lot of step
by step a lot of information I study I
tried to study fast as I could but it
was one of those things where I didn't
have a lot of time so I put a couple
hours a night or well I'm like at the
gym working out I like in my head I like
I hear it on my headphones I'm just
trying to learn the whole game and I
mean I just I had to have it work for me
cuz that to me was like my opportunity
that I had and I didn't want another
opportunity it was what I wanted so I
mean there was Drive and financially and
what was what what would you say was the
biggest motivator that you had was it
just more the freedom you know to spend
more time with her kids or not have to
worry about money or like whoa what was
that for you yeah well I mean at first
it was just financial to just have an
income to cover my bills and get me out
of a nine-to-five or out of another type
of job so I could have via freedom of
time spend with my kids for
sure you know provide my kids with the
things they want and just have a good
life and not be so worried about money
on a day to day basis or weekly basis
and how many cover stuff and be able to
travel I'm gonna have a lot of passion
on wanting to travel the world and go
see new places so there's personal
aspects I liked and let me ask you this
when you when you first joined you know
you mentioned that time was an issue and
I know there's a lot of people out there
there's a lot of moms out there you're a
single mom and I can imagine I mean
that's a full-time job in and of itself
so how did you manage your time you know
and and I guess how also how long before
you started to really see results from
the efforts that you're putting in yeah
I mean I I studied and learned anytime I
could so I would try to go to bed early
at night and just make that my time I'd
spend an hour right before I go to bed
listening to the training like when I
was at the gym or if I went for a run I
would listen to the training if I was in
my car driving somewhere I made pretty
much cut out anything like TV you know
anything that was a waste of time that
wasn't a hundred percent dedicated and
focused towards my future and and
learning this thing and you know doing
it so and that's what happened so I was
in six months I would say I had about
five products I was doing about 60,000 a
month in sales and I was able to finally
kind of quit my full-time day-to-day job
and started doing Amazon and I mean it
made a huge difference
yeah it just blew up after yeah well
sure how it blew up so so how many if
you don't mind asking how many products
do you have today and you know just were
you out with your business today okay so
I have one brand I have about 40
different products I'm in the u.s.
marketplace also all across Europe and
Canada so I have expanded to all those
marketplaces I went from you know doing
my 60,000 a month to half a million a
month in sales to you know creating my
own manufacturing facility wanting to
have full control over my manufacturing
so doing that and
and also this last year doing a lot more
actually helping others and speaking and
mentoring and helping so which I love to
help others so as you did see that well
the cool thing is you know we're here at
this event and from that video that we
did the first time you were saying how
people are like hey I saw that video
that we did together and everything so
now you just being here at this event
it's just cool to be a part of that
community and meet other people and know
that you've inspired so many people and
helped so many people just from the
video we did but also all the other
stuff the speaking that you're doing and
it's making a difference yeah I love
that I really appreciate people coming
up to me and saying that and knowing
that I've actually helped inspire them
in some way it's really awesome and
amazing yeah yeah so what were some of
the the challenges that you face because
I'm you know a lot of people you know
there's ups ups and downs to anything in
life and especially business we all go
through different struggles were there
any challenges that you faced and what
were the lessons that you learned from
them I will say the first lesson I
learned was I picked the wrong products
and it's just because I did not follow
the training right went back we looked
at the training we went through that
process picked the right product and
then it was fine so I see a lot people
don't necessarily persist if they have a
product that doesn't do well or doesn't
do as much as they think they don't move
on to the next product so I think the
speed of just finding the next product
and really making sure you you're
picking the right products but just the
speed of product product product and
make sure you do everything to get it
going I mean the second thing I ran into
you was it's kind of interesting you
start working for yourself and you're
like a one-man band is you can kind of
get distracted or lazy and you're
working from your home and you're like
sleep in or it's really hard I think
just stay motivated sometimes in the I
have to self motivate in your schedule
so at one point I just hired someone
part-time just come to my house so I
have a purpose to be there at 9:00 a.m.
to sit down with that person and that
helped actually motivate me and that was
a big change in my operating basis and
really getting my scheduling in and that
really helped a lot very cool and then
what about you know money I know is for
a lot of people a challenge I mean even
just starting a business training
education buy inventory
and just the Associated cost that it's
required to build a business was that a
struggle for you and how did you you
know how did you go about about that
yeah it's um I mean I did what I had to
I found sources of lending I didn't have
great credit when I started and I kind
of started I kind of started with
nothing which is kind of hard to say
because I normally tell people you need
probably need a little bit you know a
couple thousand dollars or something for
inventory but I mean you do what you got
him I mean I worked out terms with
somebody and getting something on
consignment and I tried to source from
the US and sent in a small little bit at
a time I didn't try to get thousands of
units and I just had to make it happen
make it go right so I mean I just kind
of a good experience like you can do it
on a shoestring you know as soon as I
had an opportunity to get like a PayPal
alone I was like created got a few
thousand dollars there and now I could
ramp up my inventory and launch another
product yeah I went to my mom and got a
loan like mom can you get me a loan from
like a few thousand dollars there it's
whatever I had to do yeah like what you
know it's interesting because there's
people that I come across and I'm sure
you as well that have the money but
they're just not committed enough and
there's also people I mean like yourself
or others that have met that didn't had
no money whatsoever but they've just
found a way and they were just
resourceful but you know for you with
like what I guess what made you what
like did you just believe in this so
much that you believed in like because a
lot of people are skeptical they're
afraid they've got like a lot of fear
that's holding them back so I just love
to hear what was that for you that kind
of made you believe okay I wanted to go
through that and find ways to make money
or get money so that I can make this
happen
well I think that's interesting because
there were times I wanted to give up
there were times I was like this is not
gonna work I'm given up and I hate to
say that you know in front of people
because we're when it's real yeah and I
think other people can relate to that
too because it's not just perfect
journey you know there might be times
like that yeah and you know what really
made the difference was being connected
with people what was made a difference
was coming to an event like this and
other people be successful and seeing
that it is working for them and then
connecting up with those people and
having friends and having friends that
are doing well so I would just reach out
and K I'm losing tons of money I'm stuck
I'm like whatever it was and I feel like
I'm losing on this and they would sit
down and just say a couple things like
well how about this
yeah and literally it was so easy
because I would go do that and it was in
the training I mean it was right there
all along but I would go do what they
said and sometimes it was just simple
like spending too much on marketing
which is like I needed to keep track of
how much I was spending and my profits
and and it was like yeah well maybe you
need to cut back on that particular
marketing or look at it and I'll go look
at it and the next weekend all of a
sudden I'm profitable and you're making
more money than ever and I'm like wow
that that worked yeah but it was like
yeah being connected with those people
that can just really help keep you
inspired and keep putting that out there
and that's what I love about this
community is you have these mentors you
have these people that are they're
always there and help you and keep you
motivated and so it's yeah it's for that
so I want to ask you you kind of
reference different stages that you
you've been obviously been in this game
you're doing amazingly well and there's
different stages as you go deeper and
deeper more and more advanced you
mentioned the manufacturing facility I'd
love to just maybe hear about that and
what are what is you being on the level
that you're at now that you can share
with people that are brand new people
that are even selling and doing pretty
well what what's that next level look
like and the things we've learned along
the way yeah well if I've bested I
basically have learned I mean at this
point it's a lot about building my
structure building my team really
finding people that are skilled in the
areas that I want to be building that
should be there to build my brand so now
it's all about building my brand it's
like hey I've done the sales it's out
there but it feels like building outside
of Amazon as well yes yeah yeah for sure
yeah I definitely you know I recently
hired an expert on building my Shopify
store so I brought him in and he's doing
this whole thing now to get that going
which is awesome
and I hired a social media person who's
gonna do all my social media and they're
an expert in social media so though
they're gonna handle that part of it for
me and
that I mean that that makes a lot that
changes a lot because if I'm trying to
do it all myself I'm not focused on the
future create and new products and ways
to innovate or I don't know just create
things further if I'm sort of tied down
in the day-to-day operations and trying
to run and manage my brand so I'm
realizing the importance of that and the
importance of bringing in people that
are skilled at those tasks yes and what
tell me about the manufacturing facility
so what made you go in that direction
because I did that first did you just
source from China or the US or what was
what were you doing before and what are
you doing now
yeah well I mean I'm in the Beauty
category so I never have sourced from
China because that's not recommended
when you're doing beauty products but I
did have another manufacturer you know
doing all my products when I started and
to be honest I just I ran in two
troubles I ran into troubles running out
of things and not being able to you know
provide they could not grow with my
growth basically I was growing really
fast and they couldn't really support it
or they would run out of things and of
course you know when you run out of an
item on Amazon that's like not so fun so
at one point I just like that's it I'm
gonna do my own do my own manufacturing
when I have full control I want to have
control over my quality in my timeline
and it's you know it's definitely a
whole nother business model it's not
something I recommend go you know open
your own manufacturing but it it kind of
is a way of thinking I think of just a
possibility and a way to I know it is
it's a possibility and it can be done
and I I found out what I needed to do
and went got a facility wouldn't got all
the machinery hired all the stuff I
needed and I started doing all my own
manufacturing and now actually do a
bunch of manufacturing for other people
because have friends come to me and
stuff like that now I'm like okay well I
could actually buy a factory in China to
do all my packaging to manufacture all
my packaging for me so that would be
kind of my next level of expanding that
and it's it's kind of cool it's
interesting that's that's awesome yeah
let me ask you this what is something
that you know you obviously meet and
work with a lot of people what do you
see is some of the biggest challenges
that that they face going through this
process going through this
I mean the first problem I think people
have is like trying to figure out what
product to pick yeah and just getting
really maybe over complicating it right
like they really want it to be perfect
and they really want to make sure it's
gonna do well and yeah I just tell
people don't get don't overcomplicate it
it doesn't happen even your first
product as you said wasn't you know but
you I guess we learned from it and it
didn't stop you and the thing is is I
actually I still sell that product it
actually makes me profit I just realized
it wasn't like I thought I was gonna
make me a million dollars or something
so I kind of had false expectations and
I realized like it's okay if that
products only making me a couple
thousand dollars a month it's still a
couple of thousand dollars a month it's
a profit yeah so just add more to it and
duplicate the process so that's what I
see most people kind of like the first
stumbling block is just not hurrying up
and just get something and get going and
go through the learning curve and it
then add add another product so even if
it's not perfect I mean do the best you
can to follow the criteria and
everything but at a certain point you
got to pull the trigger and just go for
it and you know you're not there's never
really going to be that perfect product
and I've found that once you launch it
you just learn as you go and you can
make better decisions for products in
the future and just get better and
better at it so definitely that's true
yeah I've learned other ways to kind of
look and find products and yeah it's got
a lot easier and what do you see as the
opportunity on Amazon right now you know
there's some people I remember when I
joined yes some four weeks you you as
well yeah you know there's people that
had said oh it's saturated it's too
competitive you can't you know it's too
late for me to get in and people said
that with ASM 5 to set it with six with
seven with eight and now nine right so
people always say that but yet people
still make money succeed and do well so
what's your mindset around that I guess
to those people that think they've
missed the opportunity and what do you
see is the overall opportunity in the
future now that's a that's a good
question and I mean I have an
interesting aspect to that just because
I manufacture for people so I have
people all the time that come to me and
I meet products for them and I see how
they do so there's I see there's
definitely still a lot of opportunity I
mean like anything there's gonna be
where you you want to be slightly
innovative and there's tons of
opportunity and Amazon is is crazy
growing and I don't see that ever
stopping and just even the whole
ecommerce game and getting in and the
experience I mean it's extremely
valuable for anybody to come in and just
have the experience of playing this game
with Amazon there's tons of opportunity
there's tons of products and you know
the name is game it kind of always has
been but just sort of how can you
improve what's already there or how can
you stand out from your competition and
how can you maybe find something that's
a little more niche ear fits a certain
group of people and you know I think
it's just a little bit of a skill and
kind of adapting seeing that but it's
it's not hard at all it's still very
easy and I see people get a product that
I don't even think is gonna maybe do
that great and they kill it with it and
like okay good yeah why do i yeah that's
great so my last question for you before
you wrap up is just any any general
advice for people that maybe any advice
that you would have given yourself when
you first started when you're starting
this journey yeah I mean it just don't
be slow about it don't wait
I think scheduling your time is probably
the crucial thing because it's like you
don't have time to see the videos you
don't have time to do the training you
don't have time to put in the research
for the product I mean most people doing
this is doing it as a second income
source right at the beginning and that's
what I notice and they just don't follow
like that you have to schedule your time
you have to schedule early times are you
actually making progress getting through
the training and then finding your your
product supplier and getting the product
I mean the beginning is the longest part
of it but once you kind of get over the
training and the finding your source
your manufacturer then it's kind of it's
a lot easier it's like that's you've
gotten over the hump and now you can
just kind of roll so they put that due
diligence in and just cut out anything
that doesn't contribute to that at the
beginning and like go for it six months
just plow through and get a few products
out there now you can kind of roll I
mean
I took last year I want to say I took it
practically off I was hardly in my
business at all and that's like what
three and a half years into my Amazon
business
I traveled more than I ever have in my
life I was gone probably a good week or
two out of every month last year just
going everywhere I never in my life
would have dreamed that I'd be doing
that yeah you know I'm sending my son to
a private school like it'll cost tons of
money and donating to causes I'm I care
about it's like I've never expected that
I would be able to do that but it I
worked my butt off for the first like
year and year and a half and it does
like result in that freedom so it's
persistence yeah you're willing to make
a sacrifice a short-term temporary
sacrifice and you know you all have to
go through that but it was with the
belief that it'd be worth it and I'm
sure now when you look back so thankful
you went through that even though it
might have been tough and challenging
the rewards and what it can provide for
you is life-changing definitely really
cool well I'm gonna say thank you so
