welcome to another video so today's
video is about something that is quite
opposite of blogging but it's almost
same and 100 times more powerful and
better than having a blog alright so let
me talk about this and let me explain
exactly how and there's a way for you to
start a kind of website that is going to
generate content by itself as you grow
it and it's going to get a hundred times
more traffic than a normal average blog
now this is something you can use if you
if you're planning to start a blog or if
you already have a blog and you're not
getting good amount of traffic and you
want to really take things to the next
level
now there's something I've mentioned
before but I've never really dive into
that dive into it the whole idea the
whole strategy like this before so
that's what we're going to talk about
all right so today's video is about
forums all right so this is
there you go

that's the right one all right so so in
form is where where people start
conversations you know ask questions
answer other people's questions interact
with each other and everything and for
example in my case my own company
starting starting a forum the community
forum was one of the best decisions I've
ever made because let me let me actually
compare these two okay so we had a blog
okay and this work was getting a really
good amount of traffic it's still
getting a ton of traffic but it took us
about a year and a half to get that blog
to wear this today okay so imagine it
took us a year and a half and let's say
18 months okay to start you just build
that blog so 18 months now we start the
forum about I'd say four months ago and
so spins four months
okay I don't know why I'm having like
terrible handwriting today for months
and to this day
our blog is getting about three to five
K visitors a day 3 to 5 K visitors a day
okay now the blog or the forum that blog
is 3 to 5 k day but the forum is getting
over 10,000 so 10,000 visitors every
single day just from the forum you said
this thing is having a formula is
incredibly powerful it's it's a great
way to build a community and just get a
ton of traffic you know if you want to
sell products and do whatever you want
you can do it and on the forum you can
actually post your own content I use it
as a blog as well you don't have to you
know have be conversational on a forum
you could start posting your content on
the for like use your forum account as a
blog that's possible too that's what I'm
gonna talk about too as well but yeah
very powerful and the thing is when it
comes to form forms starting them in
general like there's two aspects of it
that it's kind of scary and people don't
like but you know I know that this these
are stuff that you're thinking about
right now that's what I want to address
them the first one is how do you
actually start a forum because it sounds
a little bit complicated but it really
isn't that complicated and there are
multiple ways to start forum which I'm
going to talk about which they worth the
investment
second second of all how do you actually
grow the form because forum is really
different form is much more different
from a from a let's say
blog so starting it is kind of tricky
you have to do it right and it takes
time you know it takes time to really
get
but if you really put the time into it
if you try to make it happen it will
just pay back everything of the
everything have you invested into it and
the thing is for example my case
starting my phone was much more simpler
because we had a big website we had a
list of like we have it we had a huge
list of customers and everything so it
was easy for us to transfer our
customers and staff and tell them hey I
joined the forum this is where we're
doing it right now this is where
everyone's talking right now so so for
us it was a little bit easier still like
even today we don't have every single
one of our customers on the forum that's
the weird part of it so yeah I will talk
about that but yes forum is really
powerful if you're trying to publish
content if you're trying to you know
start a blog do it for them instead I'm
gonna show you how to test so let me
take you much and take you to my
computer I'm going to talk about how to
start a forum I'm going to show you how
you do that and then I'm going to talk
about ways that you can use to grow a
forum that's very important alright so
let's get started let's go to my
computer to talk about this alright guys
so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna start
by talking about different forum suffers
and how to actually start your forum so
there are two ways that I know that you
can start your forum I'm sure you can
just google and find like million
different ways to start a forum okay
just keep in mind and keep in mind that
these are not the only ways to do this
I'm just sharing what I know okay so the
first one which is the easiest one is
using a system or a forum platform
basically called the discourse okay and
this course is one of the best forum
software's out there it's used by big
big companies like even Amazon actually
uses this course that's how good this
course is okay so how does it work this
course is really cool it's quite simple
it's clean like the conversations and
everything in there are just so nice and
if the flow really really nice now the
thing is actually let me just show you
this is diversity forum okay so if you
take a look for example let me pull up a
for example this conversation take a
look so as see like starting and like
people talking about I see it just flows
really really nice take a look like this
slide here you can actually move this
it's pretty pretty really cool stuff so
yeah it's really nice like the discourse
it's just so flows so nice and easy like
take a look it's just so clean right so
this is what I really love about this
course it's so nice now the thing is
that there are multiple versions of it
so if you want to do it for free you can
get it for free the only downside is
that you have to set it up yourself like
like when you download WordPress
basically so I haven't done it myself
like I don't know how to install this
course because it's it's much more
complicated than just installing a say
simple CMS like WordPress okay so yeah
it's a lot more complicated but it's an
open open-source software so you just
you can't just download it for yourself
and just do whatever you want with it
okay but yeah but if you wanted to go
with the premium or just again have them
do it for you you can actually pay $100
a month or $300 a month I like to just
have them do it for you and the thing is
they are going to host it for you okay
so you don't have to you don't have to
basically use the hosting have your own
hosting pay for hosting and everything
so they actually do it for you and the
host thing they use is a cloud hosting
it's pretty fast it's really really fast
so it's pretty awesome
so in my case I'm using the $300 a month
option because well like we got a lot
visitors or a lot of visitors so you
know we can't we need something that can
handle it so yeah but it has a lot of
good plans like you know first of all
they give you 14-day free trial and then
they had good storage you
never gonna use that storage unlimited
members wall one which is good
staff members like this is five for the
business by its fifteen and fifty
fifteen and then there's the SSL that
comes which is really important SSL is
basically this secure thing that you see
up there
okay so yeah really really nice and also
they got CDN so that's gonna make it a
lot more faster so that's this course
now there is a different option that you
could go with now this one again is a
lot cheaper way cheaper if you don't
want to go with this course for any
reason it's a lot cheaper but there
might be a lot of complications in there
so the second option you could go with
is BB press okay
so BB press is a an official WordPress
plug-in like a forum plugin where you
can basically create a forum okay simple
it just it's self-explanatory really so
it's a it's an efficient wordpress
plugin official wordpress plugin you can
create a forum style you know websites
on your WordPress and there's another
it's like a sister plug-in that you can
add to this BB press called Peabody
purse and the thing is this is like a
social network kind of plugin so like
you could like you could have a forum
and then you could add like you could
have a forum with BB press and then you
could have the functionality to like
have communities teams groups and all
that stuff so it's really really cool
now the downside to this is first of all
you gotta have a gritty good hosting
okay you need to have really powerful so
you could start with something basic but
eventually you have to move if you get a
lot of traffic with this you have to
moving to a much more powerful hosting
but there's a lot of customizations with
this that's the only downside that's the
only thing I don't like they just it's
super complicated
I was actually once a long time ago is
considering this for adversities
community but again it's quite
complicated
okay so I just didn't want to go through
the headache to set this whole thing up
so yeah but this is another option now
how do you actually grow a forum let's
say you just said something up how do
you actually grow now we don't have
obviously you know we had like I get as
I said base of customers so that's why
we were able to get there real quick but
like we were able to grow it but if you
don't have that if you don't have a list
huge list of customers what you could do
is you could take help from other
communities okay so in this case you
could use a Facebook group now what you
want to do is you want to start a
Facebook group with the exact name of
your of your forum okay and you want
this to be an open group that's very
important you want it to be an open
group so this way you this way you get
everyone everyone around you John now
what's gonna happen is that you're gonna
start this group and you're gonna start
posting good content that's very
important you gotta manage this very
very good guys okay you need to start
posting good content from around the web
anywhere but just good content something
that people want you actually to give
give basically give people a reason to
become a member of your group okay and
eventually what's gonna happen when you
put a post good stuff facebook is gonna
advertise your group to people who have
similar interests and you're going to
see automatically people are gonna start
finding your group and they're going to
just join your group and inside that
group you can actually advertise for
your forum for your main community
that's how it works see you get get some
help from Facebook and a build a
community on Facebook and then move
everyone on that Facebook Facebook group
to your main forum where you have
complete control okay and a lot of you
can do a lot of cool stuff again you
could post blog posts on your forum you
could you could advertise products on
your forum you can do a lot of cool
stuff and that's what you want every
move you want to move everyone from your
community on Facebook to the forum
because that way you have full control
so you guys this is how you grow grow
your Facebook or community
using Facebook groups all right yeah
