hey what's up doc cuttings in here this
is the free training the webinar for
Amazon reviews that will convert so
hopefully everyone can hear me I went
through the test and everything seemed
good I got some lights on in here
it's very bright so they shine a glow on
my head
so that it's probably a good thing I
don't know it means it's really bright
in here so how's everybody doing
I see Igor I see I'm just gonna shorten
names that I'm I'm not sure how to
pronounce so I'll what's up
we have a ghulam harem silver what's up
sounds like everybody gives you hear me
bill awesome ROM Dan a lot of people on
cool Paul's on Frank's on yeah let me
know where you're at
where you're from we're going to we're
gonna fill some time here for a minute
because it takes a few minutes for
everyone to join up want to make sure
people don't miss out
so yeah shifting some things Oh bills in
Houston how is it where you're at man
I know it's it's been rough down there
and then the other hurricane Irma is
heading up to the southeast so Frank is
from Paris
Dan's from LA Francisco from Italy Vijay
from India we got Paul from Nevada
silver Estonia and Igor Serbia you're
trying to dry on the in that
neighborhood bill sounds like you're are
right though so that's good to hear Ben
from Southampton we got as partly cloudy
and sunny thing used to that's good cool
cool and Alice from Indonesia
welcome everyone thanks for joining up
this is the webinar on Amazon reviews it
converts so I think a lot of people
probably saw this in the niche hacks
group which thanks for Stuart for
letting me you know post in there I
appreciate his support to allow me to do
that
usually try and give a lot in that
community yeah
just know pitch webinar so like normal
note pitch today
Stewart gives me a hard time by the way
if you found this through the niche
hacks group let me know just curious I'm
going to know a handful of people found
it previously found this webinar set up
and subscribed OTO subscribe to new
webinar so you know you may have seen
some stuff that I published like a
couple weeks ago but basically this is
focused on Amazon affiliate reviews I
think a lot of the ideas can transfer
over to any other site that you have
especially just the idea of the template
so I think most people were able to get
the template from either well hopefully
that that Facebook post in the mid tax
group was in there so it was in the
comments there so hopefully we were able
to get that if not I may be able to snag
that webinarjam is a platform that I'm
using here you probably see some logos
around and stuff but they've added some
some sort of cool new features like I
think I could share a file and like
upload it and you guys can get it
although you know it's it's never good
to try things on the fly so I'm not
going to do that although it looks like
it's trying to right now so I need to
stop doing that okay so we're back to
what we're focused on today and that's
the Amazon affiliate reviews I will give
people like another minute or so just to
hop on I know people get their email
notifications and it takes them a second
to get in so I will mention just a
couple of quick little plugs from my to
my platform and some of the stuff I'm
working on so I have a pretty active
YouTube channel in fact I'm I'm working
pretty hard on publishing more and more
content on the YouTube channel I've
backed down some of the live content
that I'm doing so the sort of tentative
plan is Wednesdays are like some topic
livestream I'll do that Thursday's will
often be these webinars
in Friday we'll be straight up cue a
live stream so you could hop on and just
ask questions so those are usually like
very very very active like lots and lots
of questions so and bill bill mentions
the image and sound quality is very good
today
Thanks it's not always that way so yeah
good good to hear I have a pretty nice
microphone and just having tons of light
always helps I have like the window open
and there's like a few hundred watts of
bulbs shining at me right now so that's
one of the reasons why it looks better
so anyway YouTube it's a good active
channel if you'd like video if you like
the YouTube channel is really good
there's a lot of tear downs that I'm
posting and basically I go to like niche
sites active sites and I give you my
commentary on them I tell you what's
good what's bad at least my opinions on
it you know certain things work for
certain people and I have my own
preferences but I'll tell you what I
think and there's some value in it for
sure the other thing I'll mention is
next week you know I talked about the
live streams that I normally do in the
webinars and stuff but next week I'm
taking a large part of the week off so I
won't be doing the live streams not
going to be doing the webinars like this
but I have been working with a video
editor and she's very good she's like
way faster than me and she does a better
job so it's like a no-brainer to have
her do the video editing so I should be
set up for the next week they're still
going to be content going live 10 a.m.
mountain time alright so I filled enough
time I see we're getting more and more
people on which is awesome if you
haven't mentioned where you're from
please do so I see tell Seif is from
Pakistan comes from Pakistan as well and
Alice from Indonesia so awesome everyone
thanks for joining up we're gonna get
into it here so Mary's from Ireland
welcome I'm gonna start sharing mice
here that's right one okay cool and sort
of with that upgraded stuff from
webinarjam like you can see my little uh
you just continue to see the webcam
screen so when I wave my arms and point
at you and stuff you can see so that's
pretty cool alright and Steven is from
Virginia
Roanoke cool all right so we're gonna
get into it here again this is the
Amazon affiliate reviews that convert
webinar and free training it works for
niche sites and authority sites and
really I mean you're going to take away
a lot of copywriting ideas too so those
should be helpful and I hope you get a
lot out of it
so everyone can hear me so it's good to
have this slide in here as a reminder
I'm Doug Pennington the founder of niche
I project that is my nail eight dog he
got cancer a few months ago is sad but
he was 15 we're up at the Beartooth pass
which is about a couple hours from here
super nice about 12,000 feet that was it
from a couple summers ago so drew what's
up we have Harmeet awesome and Sam is on
to thanks for joining in so I do have a
bit of a past track record so I mean
this is mainly like why should we listen
to you Doug but I've had several niche
sites I've coached a lot of people
dozens and actually in the hundreds at
this point I've done a lot of guest
posting guest blogging have been
featured on a lot of podcast and I'm a
project management professional PMP that
I got from my corporate days and Bobby's
in from Maryland welcome so just quick
question you can let me know in the chat
do you have a profitable niche site
right now and have you ever created a
site before and this will sort of help
me shape like where the presentation is
going so if
was smart I would have created a pole
for this but it's nice to have some
chatter in the chat room maybe some
people can connect in there and that
sort of thing it'll just give me a
baseline on who's in here and what
you're mostly interested in so as I
mentioned I've been featured a lot of
places I won't go into all the details
there but you know I was on social
triggers with Derek Halpern most
recently so that's pretty cool and the
other thing I'll point out is the niche
site timeline I mean it's sort of built
like a roller coaster and that is you
know that's accurate there's been ups
and downs and I was you know fortunate
enough through hard work to be honest
with you to hit some success with my
first Amazon affiliate site it wasn't my
first niche site of having you know one
other that was sort of a bad halves in
sight but I did some good things early
on but like all good internet marketing
stories mine ended with a penalty so
this this penalty II hit me in December
2013 it was through like PBS a lot of
people asked about that PB ends and just
sort of sloppy work which was fine for a
while but then it wasn't anymore and
unfortunately I had like five other
sites penalized within the next year or
so and about like a year I guess it was
only a year later I got laid off from my
job well I didn't realize it was so
tight in there but things are going
pretty well now and I recently sold a
site that I featured in project a white
hat for $235,000 so I have learned a lot
through the success and even more from
the failure points so quick reminder the
Q&A is at the end it's super helpful if
you know your question as a question
versus a chat there's a little you know
section near the the chat field that you
can mark it not as a chat but as a is a
question so
just helps me find those especially if
you ask him you know in the middle of
the presentation if you think is
something you can ask it'll I just won't
answer them until the end so as a note
I'll say that we have several people
like Gollum Christina they've created
niche sites Harim has a profit there not
a profitable site but you have a blog
dan is not yet
and Cisco does have a profitable site BJ
is a complete newbie silver has a you
have a profitable site that's cool some
people are looking to improve the
conversions and a lot of them have a
Gollum mentioned that you had several
sites but you got hit by Fred so that's
no good so yeah so that's a lot of
people do have sites and they were
profitable and it sounds like you want
to you know turn the thumbscrews and be
able to you know build up the revenue
more and then there's a mix of people
that it sounds like you're you're just
getting started that's totally cool too
and a good thing is this applies for
everyone so this whole presentation will
work for everyone
luckily because if you have a site
you'll be able to go and tweak certain
things and if you don't have a site when
you start creating the content you can
use the template to essentially build
your content in a way that you know
should convert better than just general
content so okay cool and Bill's
launching this first authority site this
week Rahm has a site since June no
earnings yet pretty young site and Paul
has many sites very new in ditch site so
okay cool so first off I think the
people that already have sites you
already know niche sites are good
because the start-up costs are pretty
low it's pretty easy to get started you
really just have to like get a hosting
package you can use a free theme and
then plug your site like you can
probably do it in like an hour like you
can do those steps in like an hour if
you can type your credit card number in
fast for the hosting account I mean it's
just it's so fast to set up a site
and from my perspective did you do so
much on a variety of topics it's a lot
to learn right there's a lot of areas
but for most of niche type building you
really only need to touch the surface of
certain things like SEO the theme and
hosting you know domain names and
dealing with like DNS servers like some
of those pieces can be very detailed you
can go really deep in SEO and and I find
you know sometimes people resonate with
a specific area and you know maybe they
get into niche types a little bit and
then they figure out they actually like
SEO they actually like lead generation
so basically you're able to you know
learn something figure out what you like
and you know go deep on that or if
you're like niche like you like the
whole package like me then you can stick
with all right the other part is you can
grow a niche site as big as you want it
to be so some people will get caught up
in lingo the terminology of like a niche
site versus an authority site but really
they're pretty much the same thing I
mean there's other definitions people
may want to apply it's really a branding
and marketing thing I'm from the niche
site project so I call them ditch sites
I'll say that other people will like
Authority hacker great guys over there
they call them authority sites because
that was the thing to call sites when
they were ramping up so basically you
can grow a site and a niche site can
grow as big as you wanted to be so
overall you do need to have a plan part
of the stuff that I share and part of it
is because I'm a project manager it's
very like process oriented and it's very
task oriented it's a lot more organized
than a lot of other people I know that
for for sure just because I learned by
reading blogs listening to PI past and a
little bit of YouTube also so I sort of
pulled together a lot of stuff and
curated it into what I wanted
so let's get into the perfect game is on
review again a quick reminder questions
are at the end Q&A is at the NSE Joseph
asked if he could ask a question I think
but you can ask them whatever you want
it's helpful if you mark them as a
question instead of a regular chat
message it highlights it for us so we
can get to it a little bit easier and
basically I'll come to them at the end
and I'll try not to get too distracted
by the way if the video freezes if the
sound goes away if something happens let
me know in the chat but also refresh
most of the time you just need to
refresh it and then you'll be good to go
okay so we are getting into it come on
slide we need you to let's move forward
okay so let's have a look at the perfect
game is on review and like zoom out and
just actually look at it here so we're
gonna go deep into each section but this
is the template here if you don't have
it for some reason if you get an itch
site project comm slash why I can't
remember what it is but if you go to the
site give it at the blog section you
gotta start here you can get to it I'll
probably share a link in a minute but
you should be able to find it pretty
easily this is the format it's modular
it can grow or shrink to whatever you
need it to be
it works for like a product review of
one or if there's like five or six
reviews you down and there are five or
six products you want to review this
works too you can give it to a
freelancer a freelance writer whoever is
writing it you can use it yourself and
it's just it's versatile right it's
built to be flexible okay so first off
we'll start at the headline and like I
said we're gonna go through each one of
these and really go deep I have examples
of this stuff too from big web
sites and think those are really helpful
okay so basically you need to have a
nice hook that like draw someone in it
doesn't have to be too salesy me it
shouldn't be too salesy or clickbait but
some good sort of ideas or maybe like
what's the best product type for like a
type of user a specific type of user so
an example of that would be like what's
the best action camera for wakeboarders
or if you look at like best product type
just in general it would be like best
action camera for example another good
example would be like what action camera
should I buy so you can see sort of the
format that you can can get into here
but the idea is to have something that's
keyword rich but also like a bit
engaging so again we're thinking from a
copywriting perspective and I won't go
deep on that stuff because copywriting
can get pretty deep but these have
qualities of good copywriting in here
and if we go to you know a good example
like I think this is from the wire
cutter here you can see that you know
there's several examples that follow the
format like the best Wi-Fi router for
most people like that's literally one of
the you know formats that I explained
and that's a great way to do it so you
can get great ideas from you know sort
of best-in-class websites niche sites
that are doing this all right cool and
next you hit the you know introduction
paragraph so the key here is to have
like a decent hook and actually a
Stewart Walker from the tracks mentioned
in the end of the post that I posted in
the group he was like if you have a good
hook with a little bit of a personal
story or something it would be even
better and I agree 100% like if you can
add a story in there that connects to
people so much better than just you know
random facts no one cares about random
facts if
take that back some people care about
random facts but if you can actually
give them a story people are gonna
they're interested in hearing what's
next so for example this intro paragraph
the first sort of section usually I'll
say like are you looking for the best
like product type so we'll just stick
with the action camera just so I can use
a real example so are you looking for
the best action camera for wakeboarding
then you're in the right place and then
at that point you know you can have a
call to action I really like that a
early call to action like again I'll
show you an example but some people call
it a CTA so if you see CTA is call to
action so I like to have a call to
action early because some people just
want to go to Amazon we actually want
them to go to Amazon pretty quick too
and it doesn't have to be aggressive it
could just say like if you're in a hurry
here's my favorite wakeboard action
camera here's the link on Amazon that's
it and I could tell you specifically
right so I was I was actually purchasing
and like a new pillow the other day
right we got a new mattress the other
day we're gonna upgrade our pillows
right so they have these like cooling
pillows right there's like some sort of
gel or membrane in there and it's cool I
sleep hot I want to be cooler right so
basically if I go to Amazon look for
like a cooling pillow then I end up with
like hundreds of different pillows and
the price range is crazy right it's like
from I'm just gonna make it up I don't
remember it's like ten dollars so like a
hundred and eighty dollars or more I
know when I was at the mattress shop the
pillows were like a hundred and seventy
bucks right I mean that's crazy so
anyway if you go to Amazon and you look
at a specific product tiny but you can
end up with like hundreds of like
examples the thing is I don't want to
sort through most of the reviews or
garbage
they're fake a lot of them a lot of the
reviews are fake on the Amazon now which
is unfortunate or if there's just a lot
of reviews like some of the items I was
looking at they just had like you know
4000 reviews too many to look through
and if you look at a sample size that
big you're gonna have some you know
people with a really bad experience or
they're just negative or you know biased
in the other direction so anyway the
point is some people are just in a hurry
and some people just want a curated list
so you maybe you can take that into
account and I don't want to choose from
like a thousand different cooling
pillows I want to choose from like four
at that point it's curated I can go
through and pick something that's more
you know to the right price range the
right quality that sort of thing so
anyway that long story is to tell you
that some people just want to go to
Amazon quickly and they don't actually
want to read you know 8,000 words of a
review so call to action early is good
to have an intro paragraph and you know
after you have your your intro hook it
call to action a little personal story
is great just the sentence or sorry just
a short paragraph it's probably good you
know one to two hundred words something
like that so and here's the example so
we could see that the wire cutter this
is for best action camera that's the
example we'll use threw out and they
have a call to action early and they
send people to Amazon pretty quick so
they you know second the third sentence
or so they do it fast and that's I mean
the wire cutter knows what they're doing
so you know this is a good example okay
next and image so I like to have sort of
a half width image somewhere at the top
it doesn't have to be at the very top in
fact I usually don't put it at the very
top you usually have it you know either
even with it
or a little bit below and the image does
a couple things for us number one it
breaks up the text and it sort of
encourages the reader to scroll down a
little bit faster and again a
copywriting you know tool here is like
when someone starts reading a little bit
more they're going to keep reading and
if you have like a little bit of a story
in there they're going to be a little
more interested people want to hear how
it ends right so if they start scrolling
down and let's get into the story that's
a good thing and then next of course
that the image shows the person what the
product looks like so they know I'm in
the right place because I see you know
GoPro and it's an action camera and
that's what I'm looking for so that's
perfect you could you know with a
wakeboarding example you could show a
person wakeboarding and having you know
some sort of attachment for or mailed
for their GoPro or whatever device they
have so in general I usually use the
half with image and I always put a
caption people you know read the
captions and stuff so that's a good
thing now as far as other like things
around there you don't have to add more
you can for sure and I'll show you that
the wire cutter has several calls to
action so you can see here they have you
know several areas they have the image
number one it's not a full width image
by the way so it's just a partial width
it looks like you know but half the size
with a nice area of white space around
it you see a button is it called action
you see a you know text link as well and
the image all those are affiliate links
so there's a variety of options for any
kind of user whatever they're into and
I'll mention you know oftentimes I don't
put an affiliate link in the image
because you know through my experience
it doesn't convert as well as my text
link I don't use buttons either they
work well right it's a great way to sort
of differentiate the text they're earned
a button from the text with a the
right color and stuff it really stands
out obviously the wire cutter knows what
they're doing
I don't tend to use buttons though just
because in my workflow it doesn't
doesn't support buttons as much okay
next is a table so the table is an
awesome way to add like cover the
details of a product summarize data and
put it in a small area right you
couldn't you know put everything into a
paragraph but that's dense to read it
could be hard to read if there's a lot
of like technical stats in there and
stuff but if you put it in a table it's
a great way to see it and if you just
have like one product that's ok it gives
lists out the technical stuff in there
in the table that is and if you have
like five or ten products that you want
to show then the table is almost like
essential to have if you're gonna try
and compare like different items to each
other like the table is really needed
especially if you're looking at like you
know the technical specs the ratings and
that sort of thing so you'll usually
find that if you have a table you'll get
more clicks names on its a dense section
with good information and you'll be able
to put affiliate links in there you can
put images if you want you can you know
had text links if you want you can put
buttons in there if you want
I usually just keep it text because yeah
I guess I'm a little bit lazy I don't
want to deal with the images but you
know I have the nice call-to-action in
there as well so it's something like
check check this item on Amazon or
whatever something like that and I do
see that Bill and if the questions like
super relevant I'll hit it right now as
far as plugins first off I hate plugins
um I want to have as few plugins on my
site as possible so I do straight HTML
tables okay so if you go to google and
you go to HP or you search for HTML
table generator you'll find some table
generator and you can build like
responsive tables pull the code you
don't have to use a crappy plugin like
let's face it table press kind of looks
terrible and it's it's awful to use
right I mean who uses table press and
likes to set up the tables it's sucks
I used to use it because that's what
everyone recommended but it turns out
it's actually even easier to use a HTML
table generator it loads faster you
don't have to have a plug-in and yeah
okay Christina says table press sucks
Bobby likes it for some reason but just
in general using more plugins I just try
to avoid it if there's another solution
besides using a plug-in I'll try and do
that so overall it doesn't matter how
you're doing your table if you do if you
use table press or some other thing
that's totally cool but really it
doesn't matter what you use to create
the table tables are good and it's a
great way to summarize data okay and I'm
gonna point out outdoor gear lab because
they do tables really really really well
okay so first they basically you know a
couple things to know to have an image
they have these cool like Awards which
are their own like made-up Awards this
editors choice top pick like Beth I like
economic choice whatever and then it has
like an overall score and just critical
information list
pros and cons some of the most dense
like well-put-together tables that i've
seen it's awesome
and you'll the other thing that you'll
notice is they only display one through
five even though there are ten possible
so if you have the opportunity to list
you know dozens of items that's cool but
you should only display like about four
to five in the top section I recommend
you put the bigger table below put it
lower put it somewhere else because if
there's too many choices going back to
my confusion on picking a pillow
yesterday like if you give them some one
too many choices like though they may
not make any decision at all and they'll
just leave because it's too much and
it's just too much information for them
so outdoor gear lab like if you can come
anywhere close to putting a table
together like this that's fantastic but
I I don't have anything that Dancy they
just do a really good job best in class
okay next we got any other table
questions I'll come back to those at the
end just so I can you know actually make
it through these okay next is the
features section so as we're moving
through the template by the way folks if
you ask a question I can you mark it as
a question for me I think you have the
ability to edit the the chat after it's
in there if you mark them as a question
I'll be able to come back to them a
little bit easier please do that for me
thank you okay
next is the the feature section this is
one of the areas that you could like
expand into many different areas or many
different links so in the template I
only mention like two features that's
kind of the minimum that you need to
cover so that you can like present some
information but you can have like as
many features as you want it may seem a
little crazy to have like a dozen
features listed or things to consider
but
if you have sort of a complex product
then you may need to take a lot of space
to explain everything
additionally and I can't think of a good
example my pillow example isn't great
but let's say is something more
complicated like a refrigerator or
something there's like tons of different
options out there that you maybe need to
have explained and if it's like sort of
a newer refrigerator that has you know
Wi-Fi capabilities and is connected to
you know Siri or something like that
then you know you may be like beneficial
to explain all that so anyway the
features area you should have at least
two features that you talked about pros
and and sort of cons and just
descriptions and explanations about
those features but you can basically do
as many features as you want and the
example here is like the opening for the
comfort section of boots
and this is from outdoor gear lab so you
know they they go deep and they talk
about kind of like the pros and cons of
this specific boot and what they liked
and what they didn't like so very good
to go into the pros and cons because if
you just list positive things and lowers
your credibility so just a reminder
everyone if you if you ask a question
please mark it as a question thank you
ROM for doing that ok next so at this
point after the feature section you have
sort of like the features and specs for
each model so the assumption of course
and this is you're reviewing multiple
models so you would list like you know
boot one boot - boot three in each one
of those boots would have you know
information about it and it would go
into more detail these could be as short
as you know 200 words but it'd be even
have you know hundreds or even thousands
of words about each one of the specific
items so perfectly example again is from
this action camera review on wire cutter
so I just put a little bit of like the
intro of each one of those three cameras
that they talked about and there's
thousands of words on each one so you
can see that you can go deep into it and
they wisely they put a you know their
number one pick the runner-up and then
the budget pick so there's three
different areas depending on like what
is most valuable to the person it's
really nice to sort of narrow that down
form you give someone three choices and
then you tell them like why that
specific model is one of the best
choices okay so next is the customer or
user impression so one of the big things
with Amazon and one of the reasons why
it took off excuse me took off one of
the many many reasons it took off it's
like real user reviews I mean can you
imagine what it was like and we have to
remember what it was like before you can
like get actually user reviews oh you
could go off of was like specs from the
manufacturer and maybe some forum posts
where people were like really into the
topic but really it's tough to get
authentic reviews nowadays because when
you go and look at Amazon reviews a lot
of times they are they're not that great
so gonna have to get a drink here I'm
gonna lose my voice okay
coffee so good so basically
you can do is look at the reviews on
Amazon but you cannot copy them right
this copyright written material write
copy written material that's owned by
Amazon so you don't want to like get
Amazon upset with you okay so you can
summarize the information and you should
say like some users think bla bla bla of
you know GoPros and I mean it's okay if
you can't buy the products by the way I
don't really buy any of the products I
may own a couple of them just randomly
that I review but you don't have to buy
all the products like outdoor gear alive
the wire cutter so the thing to remember
here is to summarize information that
you find on the internet that is okay
but you cannot copy information from or
copy the reviews from Amazon okay that
violates the Terms of Service it'll get
you in trouble and all that you can
actually go to like forums and stuff too
and get really good information from
forums so that's a great sort of way to
supplement the information you can get
on Amazon is by going to forms and using
that information again should not copy
you should summarize and put into your
own words and you'll find that if you
actually like to read the reviews and
you read the forum post you understand
like what the users are concerned about
like you can actually create like a
unique piece of information that's
actually more valuable than like the sum
of the parts so just remember you can't
copy the reviews from Amazon okay and
next the conclusion so this is basically
where you summarize the overall review I
like to have like a call to action at
the beginning of the conclusion a lot of
people skim content and you know they
may read like the intro take a look at a
table they may see something interesting
and pause for a second but they're
scrolling scrolling scrolling and then
they'll check out the conclusion because
that should say hey we love the
you know GoPro 5 whatever check it out
on Amazon and then summarize like what
you covered in the entire article you
can you know for each of the sections
that we talked about you could do a
bullet point you know so talk about
features talk about specific pros and
cons for you know the items that you
reviewed and that sort of thing it's
totally up to you
some people don't even put much of a
conclusion they just put a call to
action at the end and leave it at that
but you know from a writing perspective
it is kind of nice to summarize it and
then understand that some people will
scroll all the way to the bottom of
mediately to have you know a bulleted
list or some sort of information there
at the bottom that summarizes everything
so that's really all it is in the
conclusion we can look at the wire
cutter again and I think you know I
basically explained what they did so
they do in this particular case they
talk about like what's coming up for
action cameras some tech like niches new
products come out all the time like
they're increasing the resolution the
sensor sizes just things are getting
better in like technology so there's a
lot more upgrades in certain areas than
others for example and you know you
could say or you can see that they put
the call to action there at the end and
it was for people to skim and maybe they
haven't clicked the Amazon yet until
they got to the very bottom and there's
the last call to action for them okay
and let's see see if we got anything
else and I think at this point I'm just
gonna pause I have some time potentially
to go over an example or two but I think
I may just leave it and go straight to
the Q&A I will tell you that like the
wire cutter is a good is a good example
and the carseat answers.com
it's one of the ones I reviewed and it's
not a very good example okay and I see I
see some questions and actually been
been put something out there uses for
any newbies I recommend thrive themes
it's amazing for creating websites
especially architect alright then I
challenge you on that
I don't like thrive themes it's like
it's blood it's slow and the one thing
that I hate even like the most of the
whole thrive like suite of products is
the architect it is so like buggy and
hard to use very slow very frustrating
so has the counterpoint then I respect
your opinion oh I do respect it as the
counterpoint I would say simple is best
if there's a case where you could do
something in a complex way or a simple
way do the simple way you can make it
more complex later I'll tell you right
now that thrive architect is frustrating
to use is unnecessary to do you know
these product reviews I will say that I
do use thrive architect it used to be
the content builder back in the day used
it extensively I still use it for
landing pages it's good for landing
pages because they have so many
templates and it's a great starting
point but I don't really I really don't
like the the thrive suite of products
there's like too many options and it's
just it's too much
so okay so then like I said respect your
opinion some people love it and most of
the time when you hear people that talk
about how much they like thrive they're
an affiliate and they're literally
trying to sell you the theme so and it
works out really good for him cuz
carrying payment you know I mean okay
cool so we'll get into the questions
here a reminder everyone to mark the
questions as a question with a Q it's
easier for me to see I'm going to scroll
back and do some of the earlier ones and
that sort of thing so go ahead and start
asking your questions now I will try not
to lose my voice it's a real risk okay
so I'm gonna go all the way back to the
beginning thanks everyone for sticking
on we got a nice crowd today very cool
very cool okay get back to the questions
okay back to the table stuff I don't
like table press very much I try to
avoid plugins although I will say WP
compare is one of my friends created it
so if you do like plugins that's one
that you can look at I don't know if
it's added yet but I'm I'm believe I'm
correct him saying that Dave nicosia the
developer of the theme is an if sight
guy also really good guy I've had beers
with him before over in Charlottesville
when it was visiting just passing
through town I stopped and talked to him
he's a good guy and basically I think
Dave is adding like a Amazon API to his
product so that you can use his products
and pull stuff directly from Amazon
which is a huge awesome upgrade so okay
as we're going through Bobby says are my
tables good on mobile yes they are
responsive rum says what do I use
exactly I'd have to look it up but it's
something like HTML table generator com
something like that but it's a really
nice like WYSIWYG what you see is what
you get format so it's really just like
you type in the text or paste it in and
then you can like format it with like
you're the font of your choice you can
change the font size the color
you can you know put borders in shaving
alternate I mean there's it's just as
robust as like creating a table in Word
or Excel or whatever apps that you use
so it's a it's very easy to use and like
I said it's easier and faster for me to
use than like table press or other
plugins and solutions like that and so
much better than trying to put a table
in with thrive themes it's possible but
man sure does suck
okay all zoo free says product
comparison plugins you notice WP compare
it looks good cool and that that's
Dave's plugin one thing you're concerned
is will it slow down your load time
potentially but it may not be a big
factor like here's the thing if you have
like that that is not just a table
plug-in it's like a full comparison it
has like a drag and drop feature for
people comparing items it's very cool
it's a very cool plugin what I will say
is if you have a lot of other plugins
then adding another plug-in may like put
you over some threshold where it's a
little slower than what you would like
but if you can keep your plugins around
10 or less should be okay
and if you want to use WP compare what
you can do is set it up use it do a
speed test see what happens like
unfortunately the only way to really
know is to actually test it okay next
Rahm says I thought it wasn't permitted
to put a pricing inside a table okay
so if you can't hard code pricing you
can list pricing if the pricing is
pulled from the API such as like the
Amazon native ads or if you're using
like easy Azon it pulls the data from
the API it's accurate
the thing is Amazon doesn't want old and
like bad information so let's say
someone was gonna buy a GoPro they
thought it was gonna be you know 399 but
when they because it's listed on the
site and when then when you click over
to Amazon it's like $4.99 that's a bad
customer experience they don't want that
to happen okay so that's the reason the
other thing is if you see big sites
doing certain things they probably have
a different Terms of Service than the
rest of us they're making like millions
and millions and millions of dollars for
Amazon and they're making a lot of money
to like I'm sure they have their own
associates like Account Manager and they
have their own Terms of Service they may
be able to put links like affiliate
links and their emails and a lot of
stuff that we can't do so just because
you see another side doing something
doesn't mean really anything you can't
draw any conclusions okay and ROM it's
just coffee today at least at this time
of day got a lot of work to do but uh
you know probably beer later okay in
frame says what works best single
product reviews or three to five product
review articles I don't know it depends
both can work fine it just depends on
what you're trying to do okay
[Music]
silver says what about Genesis overall
the theme actually doesn't matter that
much so Genesis seems fine a lot of
people like it the main thing that I
look for in themes is that I don't want
to spend a lot of time on them or fuss
with any options and that is one of the
primary reasons why thrive like is tough
to use so there are so many options you
can do everything and thrive and it's
it's actually you know it's too much its
bloated and then
I mean with all that power comes at a
cost so if you want like it if you're a
developer if you have a lot of websites
thread it's probably a great solution
because there's so much stuff that you
can do i do use thrive for sales pages
and landing pages so thrive
I guess architect now now that it's
called that it used to be the content
builder it's great to put together a
sales page because you can just sort of
build it how you need to or they have
the preset templates so it's great to
start from I will mention that I like I
had a page that I built with thrive
because when it first came out everyone
was telling me oh you really need to use
thrive it looks beautiful
it's gonna improve your conversions and
you know the appearance of your site is
really really important cuz this with
the pros and the experts were telling me
and you know missus him I was just
starting by the way they they were
affiliates right so they got the
Commission after I bought the theme and
enrolled and the conversions didn't go
up nothing nothing like positive
happened out of like just changing the
design I'm gonna saying that's always
the case I'm just saying that's what
happened for me then I went back this
wasn't that long ago maybe about a year
ago went back and it was like maybe this
page is loading so slow it takes like
eight seconds for it to load my other
pages are loading in like one second
right I like to have a fast site
everything's living pretty fast so I was
like you know there's not even that many
images I'm gonna take thrive out and I'm
just gonna replace it with you know the
straight like a regular blog post style
right using all the options within my
theme so when I did that the size of the
page went down by like 60 percent and
the load time went down I liked 56
percent if for some reason I remember
that number so all of a sudden the load
time was like fantastic it was where it
needed to be it was sort of you know a
longer it was a very long post and
basically thrive content builder was
very bloated very slow to load mainly I
just want themes to stay out of the way
so silver super long answer to what
about Genesis sure seems fine and golem
says can you ask a question about
keyword research sure
next Arthur says what about the Azon
plugin it seems fine I don't use it and
I think Todd is asking what scheme do I
use I'm not
I won't even answer cuz it doesn't it
doesn't matter so I will tell you one of
the first sites that use it she's the
word press 2012 plug-in okay bill says
I'm using flat stem and so home and it's
very few plugins and other parts are
disabled cool al says I agree with Doug
you're using it last year but you go
with as simple as possible excellent
bill says you looked at thrive for
several days and decided against it okay
that's cool there they have such good
marketing stuff too okay and mary says
assured link to the HTML table generator
that I use loads come up so it's best to
get the my recommendation and actually I
will check real quick I could just paste
it in the chat here see ya
I think this is it okay now put it in
the chat Mary you should be able to get
it and I mean I think any of them are
really fine okay
Gollum says sorry if this is an
irrelevant question that's okay
you're very polite and asking sometimes
people are real pushy and they ask
questions and you know they're just not
nice about it so you're nice so this is
cool the question is how do you find
semantically related keywords you can
ignore it okay how do I find
semantically related keywords basically
I you know what I don't think about it
that way so you can the two things I'd
recommend is if you you know you search
the term in Google and then you scroll
down to the very bottom you'll see like
you know some number of related searches
suggested by Google those are good ones
to look at those will give you a good
idea I really don't think about like
looking for semantically related
keywords and Shan Shan and now says
should best ten name of product work I'm
not really sure what you're asking there
if you could rephrase it that may be
helpful for me um Todd says best Amazon
affiliate theme what do I use yeah like
I said Dean doesn't matter I would check
out like if you're looking for specific
Amazon affiliate themes you could check
out the ultimate what's it called it's
the UAT so ultimate Amazon theme and
then there's authority Azon so a couple
my friends on those this
