Amazon Affiliate Website Example Top Ten Reviews thanks#Best Education Page #Online Earning

this is a teardown of top 10 reviews

calm my name is Doug Huntington defender

of niche site project and this is part

of a series of videos where I tear down

sylia sites I critique them and tell you

what I like what I don't like now this

is a large site it's part of a big media

company called perch I believe so let's

take a look at that in a second but at

times like today I review huge sites

that are best-in-class to have a huge

amount of funding behind them and a big

staff and they do things really and then

some other reviews are smaller sites

sometimes they are just a couple dozen

pages sometimes just a dozen pages and

they're smaller they're usually part of

someone's portfolio or maybe it's an

individual who built in each site and

they are you know just a regular regular

person that has a full-time job a

teacher a student will.traveller and

they just have a small site so if you

are interested in smaller sites as well

I encourage you to check out the

affiliate sites generally today we'll

get started by looking at the critical

information about top 10 reviews calm so

right now we're taking a look at my site

this is which side project and you can

see I pulled some information from

various sources we're going to get into

before we review the actual site now

we're also going to take a look at the

about page of top 10 movies we're also

going to look at some specific reviews

so you can see how they

right there reviews the information

that's in there and we'll take a look at

a few of those so you get an idea of

really what should be in the review so

let's get into it here so again this is

one of the sites that's been around for

quite a long time so from back in June

2003 which that was early days of the

Internet so hopefully they've updated

the design a few times they are ranking

in the top 100 in google for over a

million keywords like million two so

that is a tremendous number of keywords

is kind of insane that metric is from

SEMRush so that moves us to the

estimated number of visitors which is a

huge range so we take it from two

sources

SEMRush and similar web so it's similar

between two and sixty million which is a

big range I would say so it's probably

somewhere in the middle like if I had to

guess is probably on the upper side I

know the top ten reviews they run a lot

of ads like I think that's how I can

just cite in the first place is they

they run ads for certain keywords and

I'm pretty sure that they bring in more

traffic and went this graph indicates

this graph is from SEMRush so you'll see

they had their ups and downs here as far

as what is happening with their organic

traffic which is you know the keywords

that is the SEMRush data so you take

Heather ups and down and that sort of

tells me that they've had some issues

times with Google algorithm updates for

one reason or other I mean this is

probably the most dramatic dip right

here where you know it looks like an

update happens in early 2015 and you

know that it's roughly a 40% drop in

traffic which is very significant when

you think about the number of people on

the site the money that they were

probably making you know we're talking

billions of dollars I'm speculating but

give that much

traffic go into your site and you're

part of a media company they lost a lot

of money there now it's media company

it's part of the portfolio so it's not

like it put them out of business or

anything but okay moving on once the

domain authority which is 84 that's

ridiculously hot that is a huge domain

Authority Trust flow is 62 the number of

indexed pages is walking 28,000 in this

data it's probably a little bit old

least few months old so I would expect

it to be a lot more results Matt more

pages the last three metrics here are

average time on site pages per visitor

and bounce rate all of which come from

similar web and actually these are

pretty good metric so time on site is 1

and in 46 seconds pages per visitor is a

little over 2 so that that's actually

little good

maybe you'll see below here you can

actually get a thousand of the keywords

that this site Explorer so if you're

interested about be sure to pop over to

nish a project you want the ability to

so the email list get a thousand

keywords for this particular site plus

like fourteen thousand others so it's

over fifteen thousand keywords total so

let's get into the the details to go

with their site so first up is your

landing page here you can see they have

just a straight-up like Google custom

search right here um they have a simple

logo here top ten reviews and they have

a 10 that would star in there so that's

kind of cool symbol right you'll notice

the best sites end up having a simple

design usually is mostly text turns

about herself I don't even do a little

go part I just have text just easier for

me

so moving on they just have a high

quality image that sort of indicate with

your testing different models of vacuum

cleaners in this case shop vacs those

are and then they had the custom search

so you can operate in you see images

search for some next they have a bit of

a overall navigation for their site so

you can go to any of you what looks to

be 10 plus categories here so they have

health business home services software

and so on they even have like one

atmosphere which is obviously obviously

it's it's a profitable affiliate program

so they have a lot of different

specifics here so they have the

categories listed and then they have

specific items they list the category in

the little image here so this is sort of

a magazine type fee I'm sure it's a

custom thing but it's a magazine layout

rather so they have a lot of business

that was popping up here but they have a

wide range that video editing soft

where I phone card reader and so on so

as we scroll down you could load more

and just continue on with a magazine

type theme which is good let's just do

it to see what happens okay they just

fill us up with another thirty of these

or so and it can keep going and do you

appreciate the fact that they don't have

an incident school here does get a

little much but this is a pretty

straight up magazine type theme have a

large footer area a couple interesting

things here so they have first out the

largest thing we see as part of urks

group see we could click on company info

here till trying to do take a look at

that in a second but you can see they

have company information we can actually

big company you can see their brands so

these are all the sites in the perch

portfolio and then it becomes clear that

they are big asked company

so the atop some reviews of site of

course that Tom's guide laptop Tom's

Hardware so on now oh I don't know I

haven't shot yet we're gonna review camp

Tom's IT Pro and Tom's guy Tom's

hardware which is interesting Tom's that

was actually a guy and they've bought

his site so that's kind of cool with

interesting thing to to follow a so like

I said I haven't shot the video yet but

by the time you watch this it'll

probably be out as well Tom's Tom's

guide so I clicked on the company and so

so let's hop over there real quick we

see Kurt calm so they say right after

that when digital publishing and

marketplace platform that is defining

the blah blah blah blah blah so they are

just a big company and they shown you

some of the sites that they have which

we saw the list before you can see I

mean these are like space comm live

science

these are just big sites they have some

other interesting tools a QR scanner I

think I have savvy shopper oh so I mean

this is a huge company and I'm not sure

if like perch is owned by another

company also but you can see the breadth

of this lists of a curiosity we can get

a little bit of an idea let's look at

people under that page of perch this is

the parent company we're going be we're

go real deep here so when you see this

they have 350 employees across the globe

so that's interesting when you you start

looking around you see this is probably

a

eight figure business the titan figure

business I don't know maybe that's

stretching a little bit but at least

them at least you can see they have a

CEO CEO and a general counsel there's

just a lot of people in this stack this

is just there like executive team that

they show on website just to give you an

idea of how big the sizes the company

overall okay so let's get back to top 10

reviews and that digress too too far so

pretty solid a home page it's a magazine

II they have a search bar at the top and

then they have a recent post now they do

have links to reviews here that who we

are and what we do so let's click on who

we are and see what happens so this is

the about page they have a pretty

standard looking header image first

started at this navigation area at the

top so then again your review section

who we are stuff to be follow them

social and there's a search bar yeah but

little menu here so if you click that

which gives to the categories on the top

reviews close that damn a wide header

image they talk about what they do so in

a similar way to some of the other

larger sites we see that they actually

buy the items they test them out they

are independent reviewers they have

experts in their staff so you can see

they're actually dumping a flower on the

carpet and that's are trying to pack

you're doing hair curlers which I

wouldn't even be able to test what it

does if I needed to they have a weed

eater it's either they're actually like

testing the sound level so this person

has your protection on a network

decibel meter there which is probably

that's a right term for it but they're

checking out loud notes right next to it

and they go through the details of how

to actually do the reviews and you know

a site like this you can see they're

tested side by side it take it out in

the field and actually look at how these

things perform so not only are they

testing it out field they're testing it

in the way that certain height attendees

are like action cameras I guess it's

like GoPros others in the class and

they're actually out there in the snow

we're like skiers and snowboarders maybe

like testing the dive so it's pretty

cool and you can see whether they're

checking televisions here so they got a

bunch of TVs they're checking the black

levels of what is what it tells us so

anyway and then tell you about how to

make money which is interesting having

to keep the lights on so they're telling

you the set affiliate model so they get

a little bit of the

you know the cut if you make purchase

and that's a so pretty straightforward

and you know it builds credibility if

you will get some of the other video

tear downs we're talking like at best

reviews calm the sweet homes wire cutter

outdoor gear lab baby gear lab this in

my opinion you're sort of the

best-in-class when you look at any of

those about pages and looks a lot like

this they're buying stuff you're testing

it and they have experts on staff so one

thing I will point out if you have a

sidebar over here even on their about

page them a sidebar where this looks to

be you know just the top stories for

various categories so they have payment

processing laptops headphones so these

these are kind of like a huge wide range

use a Christmas category which right now

it's like May so this is I don't love

this over here to be honest with you I

guess it's a wide range of specimens are

some little click and I would never just

leave it without the sidebar here okay

to be connect with us could be legit

though just could be okay now um let's

see going to check to see if there's

anything else on the who we are section

alright so let's go back to the main

page here let's look at categories but

out don't or just to see like what a

category page looks like so we see a

couple things here so we got the same

navigation in the top area the very top

in the header image indicates the

outdoors which is the tent so good

Universal there's two sections like

subcategories in the outdoors where it's

biking camping then the again have the

basically a magazine layout so they have

search bar here one of the most recent

reviews which we're going to take a look

at that one actually

now another things in

they have a absence data right here they

have expert listed it's a three column

and moves to a three column layout where

they have the experts right here

connect with us and top stories and then

the latest news these are like the most

recent post that looks like in this

category and then the popular sections

of that binoculars print radio by GPS

camping lanterns so they give you a lot

of options here it's a little messy if

you recall previous teardown of best

reviews calm this is sort of the

contrast right they're both high level

sites but when you look at that have

been around for a while by the way when

you look at best reviews calm it's very

clean sort of design oriented layout and

then this one top ten reviews

it's a little messy is more like a

magazine and it doesn't look as good

tonight

like non-designer eyes but it will tell

you that I could guess like they make it

more like more engagement from this

Messier looking page just from a lot of

the documentation that rather case

studies test many times and messy page

performs what better than a clean

looking page but if they're choose what

you like go with it mine tend to be for

my personal sites they do tend to be on

the simpler side so let's take a look at

the actual review here and we'll see

best solar ovens review which I didn't

even know that was a thing

but you'll notice that the header goes

away like the wide full wood color goes

away it's replaced with a constant

spanner so that tells me they get enough

traffic that you don't have since there

makes sense

further when we look here and you see

how much traffic they actually get the

keyword catering for well yeah I'm kind

of an absence cater to this about the

only time is when you get like a huge at

the traffic and again affiliate Amazon

affiliate guy so that's you know I tend

to not go for the essence banners like

this and just go for like the products

for them we're glad that they get so

much traffic as well put up ads banner

at the top and there's also one right

here so and you know I don't like these

that lets you happens when it expands so

it's playing a commercial here if I

actually didn't hover over it

so I don't know if it's for advertising

funny but it's a charge stuff okay let's

move it on so they have title they have

a little sort of breadcrumb section here

so we know we're taught to use for one

outdoor section this is an article and

they have sharing buttons right here

personally you know I remain even get

these I

haven't had much so I mean I guess they

put in there for a reason but personally

I'd rather have some purchase like

Sheridan social that's just their

problem smarter than get tough

damn search bar here so you can search

the outdoor section they have a nice

high quality image that is not a

stocking from the manufacturer this is

actually one they took so that adds

credibility as well it would be nice if

they had Brian Lee the author's image

here

and this was published in the last few

weeks so kind of cool

did you hop right in one thing I don't

do that they should is have a call to

action fast right so in the first things

they should have a call to action

curiously you know the one we think is

best if you refer to some the other

videos where we see like best reviews

yeah the ones I listed before so yeah

best reviews yet the sweet home

wirecutter

outdoor do a baby Gila there's going to

be call to action in the first paragraph

that's a really good thing to do because

some people are in a hurry and you know

once you sort through it all down so we

scroll down they do mention the other

items here which sure looks like it may

open yeah Mase scoot us down to the

specific item so I'm going to go back to

the top so these are not affiliate links

these are just navigation like so click

down some interested in some shop so

it's interesting that they do not have

an affiliate link in this top section at

all

so it looks let's note that wonder how

long it takes for them to get to that so

they do get into you know how to take a

solar oven we talked about the features

and things that you should be interested

in for purchasing solar of it this

followers you the best practices for an

affiliate review so if you go to him

assignments a project and you see start

here page let's go down to the bottom

you'll be able to see the best or sorry

the perfect view and it follows this one

general

okay so then they get into these

specifics and here again there's no

affiliate link here which is interesting

but there's another absence banner at

this point as I'm looking at it are they

even selling these thing or do they just

want absent money but okay so they have

one of the solar cookers in action they

talk about the specifics there's a lot

of text here I would probably encourage

them to that's bullet points put some

more subheadings so if this section

right here there's a lot more text than

anything else on next step and next item

here again no still no affiliate links

that I can see hopefully I'm not missing

this assuming the affiliate links

somewhere right next another Adsense

banner here

allows the same next up in a lot of text

absence

next item image it's not an affiliate

link lot of text there Addison okay it's

getting redundant so a couple things

that they have not done yet that maybe

it would be good so first let's look at

things right they need affiliate links

to these products they don't have a

table a table at the top would be

awesome to have that's kind of a key

differentiator between this site the

best reviews the funny thing is it looks

like top 10 reviews is actually ranked

better for a lot of different

terms versus best for me even though it

appears the best reviews do a better job

implementing what affiliate status says

we're scrolling down I'm hoping we're

going to see a table and some kind of

affiliate link at some point otherwise

this isn't really an affiliate site

okay so interesting so I think I assumed

that they were going to have some

affiliate links in here but it looks

like maybe they're just trying to get

people on the site and this is very

strange so we'll take a look at another

one surprise I when I reviewed the site

before I thought for sure that there

were some legit affiliate link so let's

go over to best night vision goggles

so this keeps us in the outdoor article

section and we see here

we're in the same situation before so I

build this an affiliate site but it's

actually a media company where they are

just trying to keep the click on the

Adsense banners which seems a little

crazy to me

since they had all this information on

these pages now I guess this is a great

example right so in my opinion it would

be really good to allow people that are

reading about these items to get to a

point where they can actually purchase

them but I read all this information and

then I have no way to actually like

purchase it from here

so if I was interested vision goggles I

would have to search for the bottle that

I wanted for go to Amazon or some other

vendor to actually purchase it now

obviously they know what they're doing

right so that they are ranking for a lot

of terms that huge team behind them yeah

they're doing some stuff right of course

the thing that I like about what they're

doing even I mean this is a I did look

at this ahead of time I do bees reviews

cold so I can get like a good impression

occasionally I may take a look just to

make sure I have the pages open that

we're going to look at I want to go

through here it's it's very interesting

to see that

basically these stuck to their through

model the core model of absurd sight so

at that point

it's very interesting because they stick

to what they know and you're working on

an absence model so they know how to get

traffic by writing good content with

keywords and then they can you know put

these Adsense banners all over the place

they're able to make it work so you know

like I said in my opinion it would be

really interesting to test and I wonder

if they have tested right maybe they've

tested that absence performs better

versus the actual allowing people buy

the products so okay there's ruse

culture here this review look you've got

good saying we'll take a look at one

another

how about bike GPS reviews just look

okay now these are the reviews that I've

seen before so when I like a few months

ago would actually review this site here

unhitch site project these are the kind

of reviews that I saw so that's why I

was kind of surprised to run across the

other reviews so that's GPS bikes are

your best buy GPS to 2017 as we see here

the actual we have ten listed down table

type layout and ever views for each one

so I'm just going to click on one of

those and see what happens it goes into

the deeper view of the specific item

pros cons and verdict okay so this is

like what I expected to see cool that's

images of it and they do still have the

Adsense banners up at the top here and

over on sidebar then this visit site

here I think that is going to take I

think that is actually an affiliate link

so let's take a look here

yes so that actually does send us babies

on yeah all right so I'm not crazy and

do I do this is on my list for a reason

so this green button visit site takes us

over to M

since we scroll down it goes through or

details of this item and this looks a

lot more like like outdoor your lab

specifically for this kind of item so we

see we have a table here we can see how

it compares to other items which is

great that basic functionality the

absence banner design just additional

features and so on so they give you a

reasonable review all the while allowing

you to buy it be these green buttons

which it aren't sharp contrast to like

the blue highlight colors like

throughout so green goodbye here green

goodbye there probably there too yeah so

that's pretty cool and I'm glad that I

kept searching because this was a

surprise all right let's go back to the

main go kloster page

let's go back to the bike GPS to have a

bunch list with every use for each one

these green buttons do you go to Amazon

to allow you to purchase them so it

could be by the way it could have been

at the solar ovens were unavailable in

amazone the night-vision goggles were

not available on the Amazon absence

banners on those but this is what I

would expect now date you will notice

they still have absence bitters here

here on the table they have grid about

the specific items which kind of follows

the order from above which it's a little

hard to tell right so when you're right

here like I'm not sure which item yeah

so it's kind of strange they have it set

up like that but they do have a really

cool theme where you can check on the

basic functionality design features and

so on and see like which items are best

they have a giant table here with a lot

more information it doesn't want to

provide a huge amount of so based on

these little check marks

okay and now we see the navigation out

popped in but it looks like there's some

errors there because you should see this

sooner

but this grid now makes sounds a little

bit this manner gets in the way but you

get an idea of like which items where so

oh it is your roller tells you which

which one is this okay and as we scroll

down they actually tell you this is like

a buying guide for bike GPS ins so they

get through teachers and talk about like

why it's good you'll know just still

that's on the absense all over the place

here and you go into their verdict and

the recommendations so to keep it pretty

concise in this particular review today

I know some of them go on very long so

I'll leave it at that

for this particular site and you can see

that they go that two different models

and if your affiliate reviews but they

also have reviews that are purely absent

space the Adsense based are they look

like this type of review which is

something that more accustomed to and

then when you actually get to the

affiliate items it goes into a lot more

detail as far as the tables with data in

this there and each of them or each of

the items has no specific reviews you

can dive deeper if you're interested in

that one so tons of just basically is a

lot of reviews of different items so

there were ten items that we were

looking at a moment ago and each of them

how to in depth review that's probably

why they have so many keywords that they

rank for so give you a this review
